    a picnic in the park

Came here for a show and had a nice time. The inside has a small downstairs space and a larger one upstairs. The outdoor space is expansive and very welcoming with lots of tables, Adirondack chairs, and a fountain. There are over a dozen beers on tap at any one time. Most of the beers are fine - they have something of almost every style, including a hard seltzer. My favorite was their "Ghost of the Ice Cream Man" which was a nice sweet milk stout. The good thing was we got to try a variety with a flight of four. They also have a crowler machine so you can bring your favorite home. Fairly priced. Would come back.

First time here. Very good time. I got a stout that was very good. They had a band there in the outdoor dining area. They sounded good. But it wasn't the kind of music I usually listen to. But it's not all about me. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I'll definitely go back. Give them a shot if you like to hit the craft breweries. And they have food trucks for events. So they probably change all the time.

Pupps also enjoy the brewery a lot!

My favorite brewery in Frederick. I like their beer and atmosphere. Pretty chill and clam compared to breweries in downtown, and more family/pet friendly. Beer always tastes good.

This is a cool little brewery. I wish they had DIPA's but oh well. The Ukrainian Stout was really good and the service was great.

Great local place in Frederick. Most of the seating is available outdoors with some seating indoors. Outdoor seating is fenced in which is perfect if you bring your furry friends. Heaters are provided at some outdoor seating areas if it gets a bit chilly outside. I have been here multiple times and the last time I visited there was a seafood food truck onsite. I am not sure of the food truck schedule but I would recommend calling ahead if that is something you are interested in. Overall, I would highly recommend checking this place out!

What a great brewery! The bartenders were a lot of fun to talk to and were ready to be open again. We tried a good variety of their beers through their flights and took a growler home for some more later. Their Growler and Crowley prices and very reasonable. We did not get to see the tap room, but that didn't matter as we got to enjoy a beautiful day on their front green area. I can't wait to come back here!

I've been here twice, and both times enjoyed a beer from their Blank Slate series. Nice outdoor seating make this a good stop if you're in the neighborhood, although it is small and there's no food menu. They do have a good selection of to-go beer. Monocacy had some friendly bartenders, who were cleaning and obeying mask policies.

We ventured to the Monocacy Battlefield and thought why not cap off the day with Monocacy Brewing? Makes sense, right? Hubby had been here before on a brewery bus tour and thought we should stop by since we were in the area. Don't let the small size of this brewery discourage you from staying and sampling the beers. They have an awesome sampler, 5 beers for $5... You really can't beat that! I really enjoyed the Tabula Rasa and Gose of Althea. Tabula Rasa was on the lighter side, cold, and refreshing. Gose of Althea shocked with me the tart and sour notes at first... but the hibiscus flavor really came out as I continued to drink. Only downside to our visit was it was literally hot as balls inside of the place. I heard the bartender mention that because the front door was constantly opening and closing, the AC unit was unable to kick on. Other than that, I enjoyed my visit and look forward to another!

Nettled next to a beer supply store, The Flying Barrel, Monocacy Brewing Co. offers a fantastic collection of one of a kind craft beers! The owner and beer tappers are friendly and quick to pour you a great beer! Drop in ... try a few unique beers ... We lucked out when a food truck stopped to serve up some great food! BBQ brisket matchin a great Monocacy brew made for s perfect lunch!

I got a flight and all were great 5 for $8

Great place, been coming here for years. We don't come often enough to be regulars but we are not locals either so that makes it hard to be a regular. But when in Frederick, we a try to hit this brewery. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Always seem to be about 10 beers on tap. Five standard and 5 experimental beers known as the blank slate. Give this place a try.

Best local brewery, hands down! The staff is knowledgeable and wonderful.

Good beer, but at 8 dollars per, it's a bit pricey. Nice outdoor seating area. Outside beer pourer available on weekends.

We were greeted immediately when we walked in and you could tell many of the folks there were regulars - like a modern Cheers vibe. My personal favorite among the beers was the En Fleur and we really liked the Penny Pincher and the Irish Stout they had. I even tried my first breakfast stout there (though I probably will never have beer for breakfast in my wiser years)! It is in the same space as a burger spot, which I think is really smart. We will definitely be back!

The taproom at OMB has a warm, Cheers-like vibe (they don't know my name, but I'm working on it!). Their taps feature a rotating selection of light, sour/fruity, hoppy, dark/malty, and non-alcoholic beers. I'm a fan of their various Kolsches, and their stouts are "interesting" (I enjoyed their Morning Ritual Golden Breakfast Stout this week: looks like a lager, with a maple syrup taste that was really refreshing. Guinness it wasn't!). They also offer cocktails and wines for those poor people that can't appreciate a well-crafted, well-poured brews (pagans!). Pours are generous, prices are reasonable, value is great. They even have a selection of board games so you can while away a cold (or hot) evening by yourself or with friends. But wait: there's more... OMB shares space with Backslash Burgers (which was recently renamed from "50/50 Burgers" for what sounds like trademark reasons. Yelp hasn't caught the name change yet. You'll have to look them up under the old name for my (5 star, baby!) review. TLDR: amazing 50% beef/50% bacon smashburgers cooked to order with your choice of toppings, or you can choose from several very interesting regular offers. (If you like heat, try the "I Can't Feel My Face" burger. I dare you...). Sandwiches can be ordered as single or double patties, and can be made with chicken. Large groups can be accommodated, and there are regular events (bands, Night Markets, even a "Paint Your Pet" night are on this month's schedule) to help bring in thirsty and hungry hordes. Trivia Night is every Thursday, and it can get raucous. OMB shares a parking lot across the street with Gravel & Grind bike and coffee shop. It's not easily handicap accessible, with a few steps separating OMB and BB, and since both are self-service that could be a problem, but it's a great place to make helpful friends, no? The hours are also a little quirky for a pub (Monday-Saturday 11AM-10PM, Sunday 11AM-7PM). So, if you find your way to Frederick (and you should!), stop in for a great brew and burger. Tell 'em Randy sent ya...

They have various areas and games you can play. Since it was Monday night it was limited to one area that was still spacious and popular. We loved all the beer and soda cocktail we tried as well as the hot dog pastry and pickled pizza we ate. Our favorite of the beers was the apple butter one we took home a four pack of. It is a ways out from us in Silver Spring. However would love to go back and for them to either put a taproom closer to us and/or ideally but unrealistically run regular MARC service out here as my wife and I do not drive.

We brought a group of approximately 50 guests and spent the entire afternoon and evening there, from 2 p.m. until closing. Given the size of our group, I estimate we spent well over $2,000 on food and drinks. The brewery was relatively quiet when we arrived, and our party filled much of the venue. Unfortunately, we encountered several issues that made what should have been a special celebration feel unwelcome. When we arrived, children were allowed up to a belt divider separating one area of the brewery. Shortly after our group arrived, the divider was removed and we were told that the children--even well-behaved kids around 12 and 13 years old--had to move to a completely different area. This split our group apart despite there being plenty of available space. A couple of hours later, we were told that we could not use our own insulated tumblers to keep our purchased beers cold. This included the birthday guest himself. What made this especially frustrating was that we observed other patrons using tumblers without being asked to stop. The final disappointment came during the birthday celebration. We brought a cake and a sparkler candle. The manager, who I believe was Derrick Erwee, informed us that it was a fire hazard and could not be used. While I understand safety concerns, no alternative was offered, meaning my husband didn't even get the chance to blow out a birthday candle on his 50th birthday. I then asked if our group, including the children, could come together briefly for a photo and to sing Happy Birthday for just a minute or two. The request was denied. This was particularly disappointing given that a storm was happening outside and our group made up a large portion of the customers in the brewery at the time. I spoke directly with the manager to explain how these decisions were affecting our celebration, but he showed little interest in finding a reasonable accommodation or demonstrating basic customer service. I want to be clear that the bartenders were friendly and professional throughout the event. They were not the issue. However, the overall management experience left us feeling unwelcome and disappointed. After investing significant time, money, and effort into planning such an important milestone celebration, I sincerely wish I had chosen another venue. Based on our experience, I would not recommend RAK Brewing for family gatherings, large group events, milestone celebrations, or anyone expecting a customer-focused experience. I am never coming back, nor my 50 guests.
