What a gem! We were in the area for an event and thought we'd stop in for a drink but ended up with cocktail flights, spirit flights and food! The food from the truck out front was amazing and paired well with the spirits they serve. As far as the spirits they have a wide variety. I mostly stuck with Gin's and Whiskey's since those are usually my spirits of choice. I like the inventive flavors they have as well as the cocktails they mix them into. I split a spirit flight with a friend but could have also split the cocktail flight as they were a decent size.

I'm A little late for this review, but wanted to circle back to say my experience at the Dragon Distillery. This was my second time coming and came for a yelp event. I appreciate how this place takes pride in the work they do. I love that it has this game of thrones theme. I had a good time ace throwing and playing different games. This is a cool place to try something different and drink local liquor. Enjoy!

This is one of the few places I am willing making a trek to from DC/Bethesda. Excellent collection of liquors, great decor (anything with dragons will always score high with me), and a chance to throw some axes to boot! They also sell these amazing boozy cupcakes that are super delicious! They are a family business and I think it shows because everyone there is always super courteous. Will be back as soon as I finish my bottle of coffee flavored rum!

We had such a great time here today! My friends got a Groupon for axe throwing and we were in! I'm not much of a drinker so they let me exchange my drinks for more axe throws! I can't remember everyone's names but the service was amazing and Zach was a great guide for the axe throwing. I can't wait to come here again, maybe for a birthday party!

Great time , me and my frIend went for a quick day trip, it was about a hour drive for us . We arrived walked into the establishment, we were greeted ever so kindly by staff , and we went to the bar area to begin the tasting . They have an assortment of items , you get a menu and then you can select up to four times to try and get the history on. Then also you get to read the other menu they have that has there creative named cocktails . I feel in love with what my friend had it tasted like coffee but had this foam on top and it was everything sunshine in your mouth and had a kick to it . Do not get me lying about the name , it was so delicious that I forgot the name but I had three of them . However they always have plenty of selections to try and I recommend while you are drinking that you take advantage of the axe throwing station right next to the bar

Great place to go for a date on the weekend Favorite liquors to buy are the basilisk bourbon and Cherry Chainmail Vodka Favorite cocktail was the last joust Favorite snack was the spinach and artichoke dip in a bread bowl Axe throwing and board games! I can't say enough positive things about Dragon Distillery. My wife and I have been here several times before and it has become my favorite bourbon. The owners Mark and Tanya, are absolutely wonderful. They love to talk about the distilling process, the history of their distillery, their puppy, etc., very friendly people who love what they do. Recently a new addition opened up that has more seating. This new area also comes with food now being able to be served, more delicious speciality cocktails, boardgames are available to play, and axe throwing is a new feature.

My husband and I made a trip all the way up to Frederick specifically to try out this distillery and we were not disappointed. Seriously some of the best spirits we've ever had. The variety alone was impressive not to even mention the quality! Their cocktails are HUGE and they don't skimp on the good stuff. We both did a tasting; my favorite was the Butterfly Liqueur and my husband's fav was the Snallygaster Whiskey. We also each got a couple of cocktails which were awesome! I really liked the Desert Sunset and their Dragon Mule. The ginger vodka they use is extremely intense on its own but works great in a mule. I ordered the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, my husband got the jalapeno burger and we split the buffalo chicken dip soft pretzel. We weren't sure how good the food would be since it's not really what they specialize in but we enjoyed everything! Great bar food and hits the spot after a couple of cocktails. We did have a smidge bit of trouble when the kitchen accidentally lost our food order. But they were super awesome about it and to compensate us for the extended wait they gave us a discount on the food and an extra round of ax throwing! We had such a great time and we can't wait to go back soon!

Axe throwing + drinks + table games, great fun time for some friends to get together. Drinks are great taste with good time explanations and description.

I absolutely LOVED Dragon Distillery. My gf suggested we check it out one random Saturday, so checked to see if they were still open (it was like 4pm), they were, so we headed over. We took a tour of the distillery with the owner, which was really cool, and then got to sample some of the products with his wife. All the products are high quality, and you can tell a lot of love goes into the distilling process. We ended up purchasing several bottles, and closing out the evening at a restaurant downtown that the owner recommend. Fast forward to two weeks later, we held our own tiny tasting for friends after a dinner party my husband and I hosted and the vodkas we bought were a HUGE hit! I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area, or even going out of your way if you aren't. +Chainmail Cherry - Almond Vodka +Medieval Mint Flavored Vodka +Make your own Whiskey Workshop

Their bread bowl dips are amazing!! Perfect snack to pair with a sampler. I can see why they have a 5 star rating. The ambience, high quality cocktails and liquor, super helpful and kind staff. I'm definitely coming back and bringing more friends!

A new place that has high promise. Fresh distilled spirits made for the modern age. The owners are great and will answer all your questions. The place had their grand opening on 2/13/3016. To the surprise of the visitors they were treated to samples and food and music. The trademark is an interesting story and the logo and decor is a dungeon and dragons players dream. Very well done and thought out. The Moonshine (yes I said MOONSHINE as in backwoods liquor) is smooth and distinctive. A great spirit I see great things from it for me and all of the Frederick area in the near future. If your into Vodka they got you covered there as well and my wife said it's very good. They will have flavored spirits within the next month and plan for a Christmas release of Bourbon they are in the process of making now. They have plans to make other spirits and will be teaming up with the other Frederick Distilling operations to put together a distillery tour. YEAH TOURS! So take the time and visit Dragon Distillery and take the tour and chat with the Dragon.

Iana took great care of us! We were pointed here by True Standard Distillery (right down the road)…read moreand the bartender there was impressed with the space and spirits. We ran down, but the tasting room had closed up early, not to worry~ the bar was open & they weren't terribly busy, so we got a little tasting! Chokeberry was the first thing we tried. A liqueur made from local berries. This wasn't sweet, but had the berry profile! We scooped it up for potential cocktails! We tried the bourbon and whiskeys and were debating on which we liked when I spotted the pear liqueur! Ohhh~ please let me try that one!!!! Sold! 2 more bottles added. Thanks so much for making sure we got samples! This would easily be a return stop! And the space was swanky! Loved the huge patio too.

I always make sure to stop by whenever I'm in Frederick. The ambiance is like a dim light basement, a clean and moody aesthetic with bar seating and couch seating. It does get loud in there and I think that's because the sound of everyone's voice just bounces against too many hard surfaces. Nonetheless it's super cozy and my favorite spot!! The drinks are all fantastic. They make their own organic distilled liquor and on top of that they away have seasonal drink selections. I go there wanting the same drink but also try something new and it never disappoints! They craft their cocktails with love and care and really put effort into a delicious well rounded cocktail. This is my go to spot for gin, I'm not even a gin drinker but I am now because their gin is amazingly smooth. I can't say enough great things!

They started out with a relatively functional interior, but with repeated visits the decoration emphasizing the owners Puerto Rican heritage has increased in complexity to make the space look vibrant instead of utilitarian. Recommend the sampler flight to get an idea of what you want to buy first: it's also a pretty inexpensive way to sample their wares. There are bourbon experiences, and then there are once-in-a-lifetime bourbon experiences that stay…read morewith you long after the last sip. This distillery delivered the latter in every possible way. From the moment you walk in, there's something special about this place. It's unassuming, welcoming, and refreshingly genuine, with an all-inclusive spirit that makes everyone feel at home. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and their willingness to let you explore just about anything and everything they create makes the experience truly exceptional. From traditional spirits to imaginative adaptations and unique concoctions, there's something here for every palate. The flavors are inventive, the creativity is evident, and there's a good chance you'll discover something that speaks directly to your taste. The atmosphere is clean, humble, and unpretentious. There's no need for flash or extravagance. What you feel instead is the product of hard work, determination, passion, and an unwavering commitment to being the best they can be. They aren't trying to be anyone else. They're carving out their own lane, chasing their own vision, and building something genuinely special along the way. But the experience that took this visit from memorable to extraordinary was the opportunity to step into the back room for a private barrel tasting with just five or six other patrons. One of the owners personally led us through four barrel-strength offerings, drawing samples straight from each barrel and pouring them for us to experience firsthand. With every barrel, the flavors grew deeper, richer, and more complex. Each had its own distinct personality, its own story, and its own remarkable depth. It wasn't simply a tasting; it was a journey through the character and craftsmanship of the whiskey itself. And then came the moment that made the entire experience unforgettable. The fourth barrel, a beautiful blend of four grains, was absolutely stunning. Its flavor, depth, and balance came together in a way that made me want to preserve the experience long after leaving the distillery. I asked the owner whether any bottles were available for purchase. His initial answer was no. But rather than letting the moment end there, he went above and beyond, offering to fill, autograph, and seal a bottle straight from any of the four barrels for me and anyone else who wanted one. That is the kind of generosity you simply cannot manufacture. It was personal, spontaneous, and completely unexpected. It transformed an incredible tasting into a story I'll be telling for years to come. I walked away with a bottle from Barrel No. 4, and every sip continues to take me back to that moment. This is not a bottle you rush through or open casually. It's one you savor slowly, appreciate deeply, and share with the people who mean the most to you on those rare occasions that deserve something truly special. Experiences like this remind you that great bourbon is about far more than what's in the glass. It's about the people behind it, the passion that goes into every barrel, the generosity of sharing something special, and the unexpected moments that become lasting memories. I can't wait to return and see what new and spectacular creations they come up with next. If you appreciate exceptional whiskey, genuine hospitality, and the opportunity to experience something truly out of the ordinary, put this distillery on your must-visit list. Some bottles are worth buying. Some experiences are worth remembering. And every once in a while, you find a place that gives you both. Barrel No. 4 will always be more than a bottle of bourbon to me. It will be a reminder of an extraordinary experience I'll never forget.

Once on the compound, it was difficult to miss; large glass doors and walls with the humongous crest on the front of the building. We decided to do a walk in tasting and were lucky enough to have Jonathon be our guide to all the outstanding spirits made at the distillery. Jonathon was extremely knowledgeable about the distillery's history, products, and merch. Jonathon's passion for the distillery was continually on display, and he kept the spirits light with his unique brand of humor. Be mindful that the tasting room was packed, so I also recommend making a reservation to ensure you can enjoy the experience. The options for the tasting were the clear or amber flight options. The clear choices being some of the steeped fruit and tea liquors, served with mixers for their signature cocktails. These drinks were what the distillery was most known for. The ambers were their more recent whiskey offerings, consisting of differing ageing and steeping techniques, to create their very different spirit flavors and textures. Jonathon was able to give us the history of each spirit, as well as provide mixing options, if they were a little strong for the palette. The ambers were all unique and each provided a little something for you to think over and you tasted your way through the Murlarkey display. We really enjoyed the tasting, the whiskey, the ambience, and especially Jonathon, who made the experience totally worthwhile. We grabbed a couple bottles, some of their great Bootlegger Boys merch, and made our way to their cocktail bar, Proof to taste some more of their signature cocktails. If you're in the area and looking for a fun way to spend a couple hours, look no further than the Murlarkey Distillery. Hope to see you soon.

The fresh lime juice and the orange peel are contributors to the bitterness here. The next one was "Cardy Days" here we have the cranberry juice, Cardamom Syrup, Spiced Cocoa Bitters, topped with Star Anise. This one was pretty sweet, but delicious nonetheless. The final cocktail was "Assam Nights", this one was my favorite! This one was super flavorful. Here you've got, assam black tea, ginger beer, gin, peach bitters and candied ginger.
