Our fall wedding at Springfield Manor was absolutely magical. The property was stunning -- surrounded by colorful autumn trees, golden light, and the perfect mix of rustic charm and elegance. Every corner looked like it belonged in a wedding magazine! From the moment we booked, the staff (Brian and Loree) went above and beyond to make everything seamless. They were attentive, organized, and genuinely cared about making our day perfect. Whether it was helping with last-minute details, coordinating with our vendors, or making sure we always had what we needed, they handled it all with grace and a smile. This place is nasty. I've had lots of wine this is hands down the worst. It's undrinkable. We did a flight and literally threw it away. One of the "wines" tasted like Welch's. It's honestly a shame because the views are fantastic. I really like the patio area although the lack of shaded seating options is pretty sad. The festival was wonderful. Great vendors for food, beverage, and crafts. We had a fantastic speaker regarding olive oil and its production. I never knew olive oil and wine production had so much in common. I can't wait to plant the herbs and lavender I purchased. The reason for the four star rating was the no access to the air-conditioned buildings on a 98-degree day. The other drawback was the clostrophobic portapotties. I suggest air-conditioned restroom trailers for future events. With those additions, it would be a five-star event. read more

What a beautiful and picturesque Frederick location! We had a wonderful time here. We were lucky enough to enjoy a set from a local music band, which really added to the relaxed outside atmosphere. The staff were very nice and helpful. We ordered the cocktail flight, which was absolutely delish, and to pair with our drinks, we got a charcuterie box and the crab dip. Everything went together perfectly! I know this place can get crowded during the busy summer seasons, so we tried to plan around that, and we ended up having a great day. I visited Springfield Manor this past weekend for an air plant making event. I had such a wonderful time with my sister. Parking was easy, staff was very friendly, and the scenery was beautiful. All cocktails are available in non-alcoholic options. The October special is a lavender pink lemonade. It comes on the rocks or frozen topped with an adorable pink duck. All the cocktails were adorable and seemed popular. They also have wine and beer, so anyone you bring can find something they would enjoy here. As soon as we got to Springfield it smelled like freshly baked bread. I'm not sure if they have a flatbread or pizza but it smelled amazing. We were indoor for the event but went outside to order drinks and food. Springfield is a very photogenic place! Everywhere you look there is a perfect space to take pictures. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great venue. It is worth the drive if you live further away like I do! read more

This year's Lavender festival happened over one of the hottest weekends of the year. It's not Springfield Manor's fault, but it was so hot out there! With that said, I had a wonderful time! The tickets to the event weren't too pricey, especially if you purchased them early. There is unlimited free lemonade and water. There was live music, vendors, and food trucks. If you plan to attend next year, here are a few pointers. Think of this as your typical winery hang. Bring a blanket or chairs and claim a spot, wear sensible shoes as the parking lot is gravel and kind of far away, bring money as there are cool vendors there (see the bird we purchased for the yard), and bring the family. Although there is alcohol flowing, it is a family-friendly place with plenty of room for the kids to roam. The fields are small put pretty with plenty of spots for photo opportunities. Your ticket includes a free tasting, free soap making, free lemonade, and more. I didn't partake in some of the free things because the lines were very long. Mark your calendars for next year because this event is very popular and sells out often! read more

I'm between 2 and 3 stars for this review. While Springfield Manor is beautiful and has lots of options from their wine to liquor to beer, I was a little disappointed. I tried their cocktail flight, which included 4 of their monthly cocktails. They had interesting flavors but I found each of the cocktails very sweet, and I could hardly taste the liquor. The service was fine at the bar, but I did find it a bit off-putting that an employee would yell at visitors who didn't realize that you had to pay to go into the lavender fields. It happened every 10 minutes or so, and I feel like there could be a better way to address customers. Maybe some additional signage or roping off the area. The yelling just felt like a disturbance while we were trying to enjoy our beverages. The highlight was really the view! read more

My girlfriends and I attended the Hot Chocolate Cocktail tasting and oooo it was delicious and cozy!! The service was quick, smooth, and seamless. We would give our order at the table and they would text us when the food order was ready. We quickly got situated with our cozy drinks, the staff were friendly and helpful to orient us through the tasting. The interior of the barn was a mini, gorgeous winter wonderland! And we had a spotting of Mr. Grinch I ordered a pretzel with beer cheese. While my pretzel was smaller in size than the order of pretzels my girls received, the pretzel was still delicious. Restrooms are clean and easy to access. Parking is easy, it's just right front of the property. I have been to the manor before to have a lovely weekend, so it is so nice to experience the winery and distillery connected to the Manor! Overall, I had a wonderful experience, I'd recommend checking out this place for any future seasonal events, I heard they are famous for their Lavender events. read more

We purchased tickets to come to their crumble cookie pairing. They offered the option to pair with beer or wine, and the cookies were based on the selection for that week. We arrived right before noon and were able to get good parking a d outdoor table with an umbrella. It was a hot and sunny day, so the umbrella was useful. After about 10 mins it got pretty busy. We grabbed our tasting and enjoyed it. However, I only liked one of their wines. My husband liked one of the IPAs that they had, but I personally was not a fan and didn't really care for the lager as well. The scenery was gorgeous with the mountains and overall view. I think this was the best part about our experience. The ladies at the bar were nice, but some of the workers there were kind of rude. We had ordered food at the bar and they take your phone number and will text you when ready. I got two separate texts for my orders which didn't make sense to me. It would have made sense to have everything ready so that I didn't have to go back up there. My sister's order wasn't right and when she asked for one of her orders the guy told her to get back in line to order. Luckily someone else there helped her out, but that really set a tone and rubbed us the wrong way. Overall, it's an experience if you want to try new spots. However, the vibe wasn't for me. I found this place online and had wanted to visit even though it is a bit far from me. I got a hotel and made the drive up - it is 100% worthwhile. Springfield Manor is beautiful and spacious. The staff is friendly and helpful and there's all kinds of drinks to be had. We sampled just about everything and played some trivia. We couldn't have had a better time. This place is spectacular! Probably the best winery/distillery/brewery experience I have ever had. I had the privilege of meeting Nicholas (owner's son) at a deli last week and he told me about this establishment. I decided to come by yesterday and had a blast. Their is plenty of parking and the location is great. Beautiful views and a huge crowd. I was greeted by Nicholas who allowed me to fast track to the front of the line. I started off with the Red Sangria which was amazing. After that, I did a tasting of their spirits and all were great. From there I had their Gin Lemonade and Bourbon Old Fashioned and both were delicious. I capped off my afternoon with an IPA, which I loved. While I'm in the area for work, I plan on making this place my Saturday fun day many weekends. read more

Came here as we were passing through the area, and I'm so glad we stopped by. I had looked at the location online, and did not have high expectations of a place that did their own wine, spirits, AND beer. It seemed like they could only be "okay" at all three, but boy was I wrong. All three were outstanding! I noticed all of the lavender fields, and am still sad they don't make lavender honey but oh my goodness the lavender gin! I got a bottle to take home and had the frozen lemonade while I enjoyed the view outside with a good pour of lavender gin in it. Their dark beers were also very good. Every single person I spoke to that worked there was super knowledgeable and very friendly. It was a nice atmosphere, but for such a large space the bathrooms were a bit limited and the lines stretched down the stairs. Other than that, I would definitely come here again. read more

A few friends and myself stopped by for some sunday drinks due the st patrick's day and truly trying to avoid the downtown frederick area(thinking it would be extremely packed). They had so much outdoor seating all around the main manor. We were greeted indoors with a friendly smiley and a shooter that was awesome of them to do! Upatairs they had plenty drinks to choose from. Mocktails, beers, cocktails and the day specials as full size drinks as well. They also had a limited but great menu and a good truck outside. A rousing Thank You to the Springfield Manor Winery (Thurmont, Md.). Our local neighborhood wine club (about 40 strong) decided to take our show on the road and selected Springfield Manor Winery for our visit. We could not have picked a more lovely and accommodating location. The scenery was breathtaking, the wines were incredible, the charcuterie trays were delicious and matched the wines, and the staff were well-informed and very pleasant. In addition to all this they had an excellent food truck on the premises and an entertaining band. They also have a distillery offering numerous selections. We heard many of our neighbors commenting that "we have to come back here more often". read more

This is a great spot to spend an afternoon. With live music on the weekends and beautiful views of the valley and mountains, I could not have asked for a more enjoyable couple of visits to this Winery with friends and family. We tried several of their different beers and wines and really enjoyed them. The Chardonnay was my favorite wine, and it wasn't too expensive. I loved their Hazy IPA, but didn't see it there the second time I went. Good to know that they rotate their beers! Also, as a huge fan of gin, the lavender gin was very refreshing. Over lemonade or soda water, it had a fresh and light aroma and taste. Some staff (both times we were there) made it pretty clear that they didn't feel like being there. Went there to enjoy the evening, with drinks and some trivia. I was under the impression that kids were not allowed ( 21 and over). There were several families with kids who were running around, screaming, standing on tables, climbing on rails, crawling under and around our table. If you're looking for a fun escape out of the city (and enjoy lavender fields, wine, and a lil' charm) then Springfield Manor Winery is a great option. Some of my girlfriends planned a little Saturday adventure here, and although it took a solid 75 minute drive here from downtown DC, it felt worth it. There are lots of scenic options for the drive, and if it's a beautiful day, the journey can feel just as enjoyable as the destination. Once I arrived on the "estate" it was obvious to see how much sprawling land was part of the property. Big, open fields accented with lavender plots made for a gorgeous backdrop for us while we sat on the patio and enjoyed ourselves. While you can purchase wine produced by the winery, you can also buy frozen sangria and other snacks to enjoy while you take in the sites and sounds of live music. While it would have been awesome to have created a picnic spread, they no longer allow this so please don't make the mistake we did by packing perishable items that we had to leave in the car because of this policy. (My friend that invited us here had previously always done that so it seems as though the policy has changed in recent years. ) Additionally, we weren't aware that just to pick any lavender there would be a cost associated per bundle of sprigs. Now when I say bundle, that's a generous description. My friends that did pay, came back with just a small handful of lavender which was different from other, bountiful lavender farms I've encountered in the past. What further turned us off, was that my friends were told that they were not even allowed to take pictures in the lavender field for free. They were actually trying to charge people for this as well, which took quite a bit of fun from the experience. Sure, the property is beautiful, and lovely and wholesome, but nickel and diming patrons seemed contradicting to what seemed to have made this place so special. So although I appreciated and enjoyed my experience here overall, I don't think I'll ever return or make the recommendation as a destination for anyone that is not immediately local. There are so many other places just an hour outside of DC or less where you can enjoy the beauty of nature, community and the simple things in life, without up-charge. read more

It has a little bit of something for anyone. I went a couple of weeks ago for the donut & beer or wine pairing event. Pluses: - serves beer, wine, AND mixed drinks (plus sangria and shandies) -you can get flights -tons of indoor and outdoor seating -gorgeous views - live music -tons of events -snacks -donuts from the donut pairing were amazing! Deltas: -loved the beer (sipped husband's flight) but did not really like their wines or their sangrias (tried sips of four different ones of each). Maybe they should pick one thing and be really good at that? Maybe they're doing too much? -service was not attentive as the table we had to sit at was dirty and several employees ignored us. I noted that the employees were also not very welcoming. Nobody greeted us at the door. We had to track down someone to clear the table for us. -super crowded on a Sunday and with the live music it was really loud! But it was too cold to sit outside that day. All in all, I would not make the trek to go to Springfield Manor for their beverages alone as they were not memorable. I would come back however for one of their many events as that definitely makes this place unique when compared to other wineries. read more

Came here with friends on a Saturday afternoon and we all had a good time. Great outside seating area with lovely views of the vines, the lavender field, and the mountains in the background. Lots of self serve seating was great for our group of four and there were plenty of dogs enjoying the afternoon with their families, love how dog friendly Springfield Manor is. I tried a flight of red wine which was fine except for the sweet red which I was able to substitute with a second pour of another of the flight options. Unfortunately you are not able to buy a single glass of wine, it's either a flight or a bottle. They also sell liquor, my table bought a whiskey that was okay and a lavender gin that some liked and some didn't. The cheese plate on the other hand was liked by the whole table. We got the large size for $25 that was really good and had something for everyone. Great afternoon! read more

Great views but that is about all I can rave about. A hike to get to from Fredrick. The outside seating area and space is great for nice weather , a band, and accommodating groups. The outside bar was rather slow with long lines on the weekend. Got a flight of beer, some wine and a boozy concoction they offer. I recommend sticking to one of those 3 options and perfecting it. Nice if you are into that but the beer was mediocre, the wine didn't any distinctive traits, and the boozy drink was way too strong. Get better at the beer or wine and then restart. read more

While the venue here is beautiful, it is nothing but an eden managed by devils rather than angels. We don't drink beer so we had other beverage choices gin, vodka, etc. the distillery seems good. We didn't get a tour. The food wasn't anything amazing. It was pup friendly. Unsure about bringing your own picnic. You need to go check it out. They have events all the time. It was worth checking out. My lemonade was amazing. I've attended a wedding here as well as visited just to try some of their wine/spirits/beer. As a wedding venue the place itself is gorgeous, even on the rainy foggy day I was there. The reception space was a good size, it was very clean, and the staff was very friendly and organized. Their lavender gin is really good. We bought a bottle after a tasting on a separate occasion and it mixes great with lemonade. I've also ordered the sangria flight and all four were great! I always seem to visit on rainy days but need to come back on a nice day as they have a huge beautiful patio space that would be nice to spend a day. read more

A fun place to visit. A good selection of liquor and an okay selection of wine, but definitely room for improvement. Pros: There are lots of good liquors to try, including about 6 brandies, 4 rums, 4 whiskeys, a lavender gin, a vodka, and a grappa. My favorites were the barrel-aged apple brandy, the bourbon, and the barrel-aged rum. You can sample any 3 for about $5; bring some friends and split your samples to get the whole variety. While the food isn't fancy-restaurant grade, it is a decent amount for the price and isn't too bad! I really enjoyed the platter of cheese, cured meats (pepperoni, salami, and one they just called "summer sausage"), olives, cherry tomatoes, and grapes. It was a nice accompaniment to some wine. My companions and I devoured the bread bowl with spinach dip; well done, there. The area is absolutely gorgeous (see my photo from the patio). The patio's right in the sun, so during the summer, you might want to wait until evening. Every other Friday, they hold a trivia night out there. Cons / Perplexing Moments: Lavender Fields? It's a patch, or maybe a large plot, but it's definitely not what I'd call a field. Walk into the shop, and the aroma will surround you. If you want to visit the "field," you have to pay $5 just to walk around ($100 for a photo shoot there); apparently lavender is very hard to grow/maintain and they're touchy about it. We avoided the plots. The wine tasting was puzzling. 10 wines for $10 isn't bad, but most of the wines were at best okay. Bizarrely, they started with the reds and moved to the whites. When I commented on this, they said "well, we want to start with our dry wines and move to the sweet ones and we don't have dry whites." Apart from the disappointment of not having any dry whites, the whole point of starting the whites before reds is because the reds' tannins linger. I guess that's what happens when you have a 20-year old running your wine tasting. That said, I enjoyed their Chardonnay and their Cabernet Franc. The Chardonnay is aged in both oak and then steel, so it gains those vanilla, butter, and oak qualities without being too strong. The Cab Franc is dry and velvety with subtle fruit flavors. But at around $30 per bottle, it wasn't worth purchasing. The place is definitely worth a visit for a tasting or two. Their booze is decent - I've had better, but I've definitely had worse. The person who settled our tab waived our tasting fee because we ordered a number of drinks and food, so that was a very nice touch! Regardless, come with some cash on hand, 'cause it will be a nice, but expensive, experience! read more

Stopped by on a Sunday Lots of seating both inside and outside, downstairs and upstairs to choose from. One thing we were disappointed in was the shape of the lavender. We noticed in a review from last years lavender festival that it seemed to have the same weather problem as the year prior. There are not many rows of lavender overall and there is one smaller section of it that actually looked in full bloom. The Sangrias and pepperoni pizza were good.
