Came on Sunday and surprisingly had the place to ourselves. It's a very cool industrial space that used to be a service garage. The staff were *extremely nice* and it was pup friendly inside. The tasting is a steal $5 for what ends up amounting to 2 shots worth of booze. They have whiskey, vodka and gin and are known for their gin. I'm not a gin fan typically, but their flagship (i think called forester) could change me. They *also* made hand sanitizer immediately following the covid crisis supplying other businesses/the fed/etc and for that reason alone deserve a look from you! read more

My fiancé and I did the tour and tasting on Saturday, October 10. Zach was a knowledgeable and fun tour guide, and Ken was a great server, the building is beautiful, and of course the spirits were excellent. We were also greeted and entertained by Tyler's very cute wriggly pup. Hand sanitizer and masks were complimentary at the entrance, the staff worked quickly to ensure all areas were sanitized properly between guests, and tables well spaced so we could relax and enjoy our visit given COVID concerns. 11/10 would recommend! read more

This is not your great grand pappy's bootleg operation...BUT, there is some of his glee in crafting the locally made goodness. McClintock brings the charm of Frederick, MD and the distilling traditions to the 21st Century. With an open floor plan that host classes and tastings, to the distillery right on the other side of the glass walls, McClintock is sure to bring a smile to the lips of everyone that enters through the front doors. Like any good distillery, the stars of their show are their products. The rye whisky is delightful, and their vodka is incredibly smooth. How smooth? So smooth that...wait my glass is empty already! Yeah, that kind of smooth. Their gin though... I mean, there is gin, Gin, and then there is GIN. I think we are dealing with the last category here. Not over powered with juniper berries. Nor something we need air quotes to connect to the gin family. Here is a select balanced grouping of botanicals that makes a person stop and enjoy the experience. Like gin? Might like gin? Treat yourself right and go to McClintock. read more

A little pricey but they're offerings are unique and of high quality. I wasn't a gin drinker until I tried their Forager Gin. Wow! The place has a great easy going vibe. The staff really know their products and there is absolutely no pressure for sales. I've been here twice and plan to return for sure. It's far from where I live or I'd be there all the time. read more

Been checking out the distillery scene in Maryland which, like everywhere,is really starting to explode. If you're staying in the Baltimore area this will only be about 45 minutes away and is one of my favorite distilleries in the state. They have a great product line, but it isn't so wide that they've forgotten their core business. The space is simple, but has a great atmosphere, it's all wood and copper. Tour guide was both friendly and knowledgeable, and suffered my multiple question with good humor. This isn't one to be missed. read more

I had been dying to visit and taste their products for a while but in light of current events didn't think I'd be able to any time soon so I thought I'd do my part in supporting a small business and on blind faith buy some bottles to do my own tasting. I placed my order online for curbside pickup easily enough. Once the order is placed you can pick it up at your convenience. During the week I made the 45 minute drive up there. Immediately upon arrival someone stepped out wearing mask and gloves, asked for my name, and went and retrieved my order. I also asked about another bottle that was unavailable online, which they had then since bottled and bought that one, too. He was very careful about limiting distance and contact. He was also very grateful and appreciative of the distillery being supported. From the outside the placed looked very cool and I hope to return and actually have a drink inside. In the meantime, everything I've tried so far has been great--rye, Gardener Gin, and Forager Gin. The Blood Orange and Saffron Cordial is nice but wouldn't be on my shopping list again. My only complaint is that their products aren't carried by VA ABC... yet. When that happens I can picture the Forager at least being a regular purchase. I was happy to support this "local" business even if they weren't in my neighborhood but if you're looking for good spirits in the booze and personality sense, they're worth a visit. Or at least a shopping trip. read more

I attended my brothers wedding here in 2017 and have been coming back ever since! They have exceptional spirits and knowledgable/personable staff. The building is historic and located in downtown Frederick-- perfect for events/weddings. They recently opened a bar next door that has awesome cocktails and speak- easy vibes! A must visit when in Frederick! read more

McClintock is part of the stellar distillery scene located in Frederick, Maryland. It's a must visit if you're in the downtown area. McClintock produces USDA organic spirits, works with other local companies, makes award winning (and great tasting products), has an amazing location and space, and has friendly staff. The most exciting part of what McClintock has going is that the best is yet to come. The distillery is still relatively new, so they're unable to keep up with the demand for their aged products. I can't wait to see how McClintock continues to develop. I have a feeling this distillery is only going to succeed and grow over time. read more

Visually appealing. Smells nice. Inviting. Didn't have an opportunity to taste anything or buy (as was my intent) because there was a big dog roaming around at large. I don't like strangers' dogs and I don't appreciate a business that does not take its patrons possible or real allergies, phobias or fear of dogs into consideration. Would loved to have purchased a craft gin to my collection but alas, someone's canine friend prevented me from spending my money. I'm giving them 4-stars simply off of aesthetics and ambiance despite the dog. It was a cute looking and apparently very friendly golden retriever if that helps for those of you who do like dogs and gin. read more

We had a lovely spirits tasting for my husband's birthday. Our server was super knowledgeable, and we all learned quite a bit. We had fun comparing our favorites. The space is beautiful, and they had a large table that accommodated our party of 9. We headed to the back bar for cocktails afterward and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their drinks and the atmosphere. read more

This was our first time going to a distillery in Frederick. It did not disappoint! The guy who ran our tasting was very informative and friendly. The liquors were yummy. We went to their cocktail lounge next door and it was so cute! Our bartender Nikki was super nice! The drinks were great and the vibes were cool. Would go back in a heartbeat! I've been to McClintock several times, once for a special event, another during First Saturday, and recently for a formal tour with a group of friends. Each and every time the crew is always so nice and knowledgeable, no matter the crowd. You can tell they thoroughly enjoy their jobs! The ambiance is rustic industrial and there is always some type of different local art hung on the walls. Tucked away along Carroll Creek, McClintock is quite the gem. I enjoyed all of my tastings there and shocked at how much I enjoyed their white whiskey. Note: They sometimes have tasting and tour Groupons that include a free shot glass! read more

We had our wedding there on 5/5/2018 and it was absolutely perfect. With 118 guests, we were able to fit everyone into the production room for dinner and left the tasting room open for drinks and dancing. It's got a large open floor plan with a rustic/industrial vibe that went perfect with our vision. Braeden and Tyler are both really cool guys who were super helpful during the planning and really seemed to enjoy what they do. As for the spirits, they stole the show. Their vodka is silky smooth and it seemed like everywhere I turned I heard "Have you tried the gin? You've gotta try the gin!". And they were right, the gin is amazing. I'm no connoisseur, but I know what I like, and I like their gin. Next time I'm in town I'll definitely be picking up a bottle or two. Whether for a wedding, event, or even to stop in for a tasting or tour, I'd highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

Took my BIL and SIL for a tour this past Saturday. We signed up in advance through website, $5/pp. Upon initial arrival I was floored at how beautifully decorated/designed the building and its interior was....very cool and clean. Zac was our tour guide. He was phenomenal. Friendly, knowledgeable and super down to earth. Had fun joking around and loved the samples at the end. Throughout our tasting we also interacted with the two co-owners who were great as well. The spirits were all delicious! I can't believe how clean the vodka tasted, and was especially blown away by the gins. My BIL really enjoyed himself, and since he's from out of town, was sure to grab a case of spirits to give as gifts and last him until their next visit! We only took home a bottle of vodka, since we are counting the days until a return trip! This AM, I was super stoked to see a representative selling the spirits at the Olney farmers market, down the street from my house. Super convenient and exciting, but I think making the trek to Frederick is still worth it! read more

I visited McClintock as part of a college class field trip to learn about the distilling process for different spirits. The entire experience was absolutely wonderful! Braden and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and willing to walk us through he entire process from grain to glass. We also did a tasting of whiskey, vodka, and gin which was awesome. Overall a fantastic experience where you learn a lot about what goes into the spirit you're drinking while also having a great time. I'll definitely be bringing my friends and family back! read more

Wow! Great group of guys producing some really fantastic spirits. Zach respect a lot of time with us explaining the whole process, sampling different spirits that they have and you can really feel the love of what they do with their products. I love that they know the farmer growing their grains! And the joy and love for what they do is completely evident. Hopefully they will be able to sell products in NJ soon. read more

My boyfriend and I were deciding between this place and Dragon Distilling while we were traveling through Frederick, and I am so glad we ended up going with this one. As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted by THE single cutest golden retriever I have ever seen (besides my own, of course). His name is Rider, and even if the alcohol ended up being terrible, it would have been worth the trip just for him. However, to our happiness, the alcohol was all wonderful! For $5.00, you can get a sizable tasting of all of the liquors they're currently distilling. They only opened up about nine months ago, so as of now, they only offer vodka, white whiskey, and, best of all, gin. The vodka and white whiskey were good, but, no joke, the gin was literally the best gin I have ever had. And I'm not even a big gin person. It has a flavorful amount of juniper-y-ness (the technical term, I'm sure) without being over-the-top. I could drink that thing straight from the bottle, which I am currently tempted to do, since I bought one. We also got to sample a soon-to-be-released gin aged in Cognac barrels. I've never had anything like it--sweet, but not overly so, and still retaining that nice gin taste. I'll be excited to look out for that when it hits the shelves. On top of all of this, the space was gorgeous. It used to be an old garage, if I remember correctly, but they bought it and remodeled it to make it a more distilling-friendly space. Luckily, they kept the natural lighting and stone/brick walls that make it feel open and welcoming. I only wish that they could legally serve cocktails, because I could definitely spend a few hours there. Alas, Maryland's arcane liquor laws make that impossible. Also, the staff is all great; they have a super friendly vibe, and you could tell that all of them were very knowledgeable on the subject of distilling. read more

Amazing venue with the most personable and welcoming staff, the tasting was a great way to get to know each of the unique flavors of the product offering. The new bourbon was to die for, the notes came through again and again. The overall vibe of the distillery is modern while still keeping true to the Frederick spirit. The gin is truly amazing. And I don't like gin. But I like McClintock's gin so today we went to go to taste their new cognac barrel aged gin - which didn't disappoint. Now, on to everything else. First of all the owners and everyone who works here are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and it's clear they love what they do. They make you feel at home when you enter the tasting room, and are happy and obviously excited to talk about their product. Which is good, and not only the gin! The vodka is smooth and lovely and the white whiskey is great. Lastly the tasting room is very nice. I've been in the space during a previous incarnation and they've done a nice job with it. The tasting space is roomy and comfortable with a glass partition to the actual distillery. Definitely worth a stop! read more

If want to learn more about high quality gins, whiskeys, and cordials this place is for you. Braedon (one of the owners) took us on a tour of the distillery. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his business. The unique steps they take to create a quality product are amazing. With our newfound knowledge of the process and the raw materials, he led us through a tasting of the various products and the results are outstanding. Also the space is beautiful (open space encompassing the bar and the distillery) and the dog (golden retreiver) is very chill and we'll mannered. Highly recommend! read more

They have a Game of Thrones/Dungeons and Dragon kind of theme going on, with cocktails named after the different houses and a page where you can roll for your drink. I went with a flight to try out some of their whiskeys, but they also make gin and vodka. The flight was ok, I find when you make all the things nothing really stands out, but the Everyday whiskey was a nice smooth sip which I very much enjoyed. For dinner I had the smoked brisket which was tasty, but the sides (garlic mashed potatoes, carrots and asparagus) were fire. Service was great, they weren't very busy so it was easy to get a table and get served. Overall I would definitely come back to roll for a random cocktail and enjoy more flights of their other offerings!

At this time they don't serve any food however, right next-door is Maxwell's and because of its location, they're plenty of other location to stop by. My favorite cocktail was the seasonal mule stopping in this holiday seasoning. Get yourself one it's very tasty. This place decor was great point and the service was amazing love the ambience in the expose brick mixed in with a few chandeliers and oversize chairs for a photo ops.

It honestly felt like stepping into a mini Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, which added a fun and memorable touch. Despite the crowd, service was quick and efficient. The distillery is a women, veteran and family owned business that specializes in crafting sugarcane rum that is flavored with fresh fruits. I visited on a Sunday, which is when they are usually closed and Angel, the co-owner was nice enough to let us have a tasting and buy a few bottles. After learning on certain nights they have a live band and with a catered dinner, I am definitely making it a point to return to this hidden gem.
