Fantastic and authentic. Tiny restaurant with limited hours -- This is probably the best Italian food in the area. The ingredients are fresh, the service is friendly and gregarious, the food is delicious and exceptional. I have enjoyed several different dishes on multiple occasions now and can say without question that this food is exceptional and rare outside Italy. Everything in this space is authentic, from the relatively short menu to the service it is a treat to have such an excellent meal for what amounts to a very good price. No question, in Frederick this is consistently the best Italian food served with care and pleasure. I have not had a single issue with anything over perhaps 6 dining experiences here. Fried Risotto was good. Not having tap water was very inconvenient. I know he has to make money but no ice no tap water are too extreme. Even 5 stars restaurants offer those. I was looking for restaurant recommendations in Frederick and I found Tempo Di Pasta. I recommend this restaurant to everyone and anyone. The food was fabulous and service was excellent! We were greeted by the owner as soon as we entered. He asked if we had been there before, and we told him it was our first time. He welcomed us and explained that all of their pastas were made in-house, and they had a beautiful selection of fresh pasta on display. It's a small space with a few tables for dining, and it's a cafe type ambiance where you order at the counter. We were able to take our time perusing their menu board and he was there to answer any questions. When we were ready to order, he repeated each item back to us to make sure everything was accurate. He also asked if we wanted to add any sides or drinks. After we ordered, he told us food would be ready in about 20 minutes. We ordered the arancini ($16; 5 pieces), ravioli di funghi ($19), bucatini nero squid ink ($26), and tortellini ($18). The food was brought out all at once in about 15 minutes. With the cafe type environment, the place is so unassuming. Presentation of each dish was wonderful, and they all tasted even better! The arancini were perfectly crisp and topped with a lovely sprinkling of cheese. The risotto balls were a good size and so delicious, I could eat a whole tray! The entrees were all good serving sizes. The mushroom ravioli had mushrooms in each bite and were served with fresh tomatoes in a creamy fontina sauce. The tortellini was another home run - spinach, mushroom, and cheese - what's not to love about this dish? The bucatini nero squid ink dish had a generous amount of calamari, shrimp, and octopus. All of the seafood in the dish were nicely cooked. I was most impressed with how the octopus was perfectly cooked. It's easy to overcook octopus - Tempo Di Pasta's was so delicately tender, I can't stop thinking about this dish. The staff checked on us multiple times despite not being a full-service restaurant. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Tempo Di Pasta is a hidden gem in Frederick. It is definitely worth checking out. I'll be back. read more

Wow what great food. Moving about a block away from here so stopped by yesterday. Not a lot of seating, very friendly front of house person and the owner? came out as we were eating to chat. Excellent lasagna and porchetta Sammie. The sandwich was not totally hot but delicious. It was so large I ate half and ate the second half today after heating - even better. We have been trying various Italian restaurants in the Frederick area. I have to say this may be the very best! I had their bolognese and it was fantastic. Just what a good authentic bolognese should be. We felt like we were in Italy with the small space, personal service and view of fresh pasta. Yes the seating is limited but it added to the authentic feeling versus the mega Italian restaurants in the area. I am fine with the 20% service fee added because 1) they print it on the menu so I knew in advance 2) the kitchen works hard, food prep is hard work and everyone deserves a living wage. I will certainly return to try other dishes, This is simply outstanding based on my sample size of 1 visit on a busy Saturday night but I have a feeling I will not be disappointed in the future. read more

They offer limited counter seating but there is an insulting plastic sheet in front of your face reminiscent of the COVID area, why would anyone spend $50+ for a meal to be staring at that is beyond me. Everything here is fresh. The pasta is handmade and you can actually taste the difference. And for being fresh and handmade the service is pretty quick too. Biggest bummer is that because it's a small kitchen they do sell out of certain items and then you're just out of luck for the rest of the day. My family and I happened to be in Frederick for the day and decided to have some Italian food. We luckily stumbled upon this cute hole in the wall place. The second you walk in, you feel like home. Everyone is so kind and attentive. The food is AMAZING. I've eaten and Italy and didn't love the pasta as much as I did at this gem of a restaurant. I felt like the sauce lacked depth and wasn't as robust as I would've wanted. The noodles were also over cooked and not as al dente as I'm used to in Italian establishments. This place is beyond wonderful, I can say that I had the best ravioli on my life right here! I've been to Italy and have had more Italian food than most people. Not over powering. But yet again wonderful. None of the Sysco bought stuff here. Negatives? One might say the food is served cafeteria style. In trays, with plastic utensils. But they advertise that they do so. So you're not going in expecting silver service. And the pasta can be cut between the tongs of a fork. Another negative will be that this place may ruin any other pasta for you. Luckily we are close, so we can get take out here. But it's so good that it may ruin the experience of places you previously loved. We got dessert to go. Surely they might let the food down? Not everything can be so perfect can it? So far? Yes! Pasta and sauce is very good. Almost 5 star level. The chicken is bad. If it's 8 dollars to add grilled chicken, it should be quality. The chicken was from the frozen aisle.
