We ordered delivery. Husband ordered the Steak Fajitas, I was sick so I ordered the Chicken Tortilla Soup and we got a side of Cheese Dip with Chips. ALL very flavorful! Only received three (3) tortillas for the Fajitas which was disappointing but husband reported they tasted very good. Lots of peppers and onions but also a lot of steak. The Cheese dip was yummy. My soup had rice, and it did disintegrate a bit, but lovely bright avocado and tomatoes made up for it. We will order again. read more

We had dinner at Las Tunas last week. The ratings were high so we expected a lot. Here's what we thought: 1) The jalapeño margarita was fantastic. A good size and great heat and flavor. 2) The chips and salsa they bring out were good. The salsa was a little thin and not much flavor, but still enjoyable. 3) The regual guacamole (not the fresh one) was very onion heavy. Almost too overpowering. 4) The chicken Tamale and Enchilada were fantastic. 5) The rice was great. Soft and flavorful. 6) The refried beans were bland and needed salt. 7) Birria Tacos were good, but the consumme (dipping birria juice) was also bland. 8) The carne tacos were fantastic. But the best part was how friendly the service was. They were so nice and attentive. I would go back, but I may take my own hot sauce with me. read more

Good mexican food tucked into a strip mall. We stopped by this place while traveling and loved the food. The service is very good too.

We went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and we were the only patrons. Our server was attentive and cordial. We could taste the tequila in the margaritas, although the pineapple-mango was light on flavor, but the raspberry was a bit better. The steak & shrimp fajita was very good as was the fajita burrito. The meat, shrimp and vegetables were very flavorful and had that yummy iron-grilled flavor. The rice was disappointing, overdone and almost mushy. The portions were generous and the restaurant was very clean. We were craving tres leche cake but they didn't have any! A couple of improvements could be made, but overall good food. I took a chance on this place because I like real Mexican food, they're relatively new and this area and in particular Frederick is sadly lacking in decent quality. I was pleasantly surprised. The decor and ambiance are minimalist but it's quiet and clean. Service was very attentive and pleasant. The salsa which comes with the chips was meh, but I had their Chicken mole enchiladas and they were excellent. Nearly plate licking good, and I am super fussy about Mole having experienced some excellent moles in Merida. It was very balanced slightly chocolatey but not too sweet, coulda used maybe a tad more zest, but very good overall. I would definitely order this dish again and try some of their other offerings. So yes I do recommend this restaurant and will plan to visit again soon. read more

What a hidden gem! My husband and I came for the 1.99 margaritas on Mondays.. bc why not and were surprised. In fact, this is definitely the closest to west coast Mexican food we've found. For those who have read my reviews lo these past many years (ok, my apologies for the Christmas Story start) know that I have certain things I love more than anything. Good Salsa when I visit a South American restaurant is critical. The only knock I have on Las Tunas is their Salsa is meh. Gucacmole - outstanding Carne Asada - exceptional Flan - yum! We dined at Las Tunas last week and the food was very authentic Mexican food. We found our new Mexican local food spot, and will definitely be dining here again. As we walked in, we were greeted and seated right away. The decor is very traditional Mexican decor and they even have a full bar. There's also plenty of seating for large parties for dining. We ordered the taquitos and the Burrito gigante and I would definitely recommend both dishes. My favorite was the burrito gigante because it had chorizo, chicken, carne asada, and shrimp topped with queso cheese and it was so big that I took the other half home for left overs. The kids ordered the kids quesadilla and burrito and it was definitely plenty of food for my 8 year old and 2 year old. My 8 year old even said the quesadilla was good and it was delicious. To end the meal, we ordered the tres leches cake and the churros with vanilla ice cream. We could have skipped dessert but found the churros enjoyable. We will definitely dine here again and there is plenty of parking since it's located near the Hmart shopping center. read more

My boyfriend and I were walking to another restaurant and saw Las Tunas and decided to go in; we were not disappointed! The staff were very nice and the food was great. Loved that they had Shirley temples openly on their menu lol and the food itself was delicious. The goddess, dowager goddess, and I were hankering for some Mexican food on our way home from a trip to Baltimore. My fellow Yelpers recommended Las Tunas. Who was I to second-guess them? So away we went. The chips were great - fresh and hot. The salsa was... good but a bit bland. The chile relleno - very nice, especially the lovely and creamy cheese center. Enchiladas were solid, with a robust sauce on top. LOVE the guacamole!! Creamy, not chunky, and well seasoned with just enough heat. And TWO huge and tasty flan for the dowager to take home. Today our server was Ann, chips and salsa came out fast (my only complaint is the salsa is a little too watery). I asked for the extra spicy salsa and it was more to my liking. Our daughter always gets the Horchata, which tastes really good. My wife got the enchiladas this time, usually its a chimichangas, and loved it. My daughter got the shrimp burrito which I was worried would be skimpy on the shrimp, but it was not. My usual is the chilli relleno platter and I was able to substitute the rice for a salad (no charge). Overall the service/food/price are very good. Las tunas is such a great spot! The prices are reasonable and the food was delicious. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday, and it wasn't busy at all. We split a pitcher of very good mango margaritas on the rocks and ceviche to start. Off the lunch menu, I got the super chipotle burrito. It wasn't spicy at all. My boyfriend and I loved this place. The prices are super reasonable and affordable. Their chicken fajitas are good! One small issue is that they do not include cheese for the fajitas and will charge 1.99 for a small tub of cheese. They come with 3 tortillas but also smaller than typical. If they could fix it, it'd be wonderful. Overall food quality and prices is definitely our go to. They mentioned they have happy hour with 1.99 lime margaritas on Mondays. Have eaten there twice as group of 5. The tacos, salads, enchiladas, beans, and sauces that accompany the tacos are authentic and delicious. There are many Mexican restaurant options in this area, but I can honestly say that the quality of ingredients here are much higher and flavor is very good, not like the generic Mexican restaurants where most of the food tastes like it came from a can.
