Easy to love this little place tucked into an industrial park. I think most people take food to go as seating is minimal but adequate if you are just eating your freshly prepared meal there. Almost always they have someone who will guide you for dietary restrictions and check to be sure; it is impressive for such a tiny inexpensive venue. I think you should try it. First sign should've first been that I didn't see any Latinos picking up food from here. It was super busy which I expected since it's taco Tuesday and Cinco de Mayo, so me and my dad were fine with the wait as long as the food was good. This place was also nicely decorated. We got birria tacos, shrimp, and carne asada. The portions were sad for the amount you pay($16 each order of tacos!) plus the flavor was lacking in the tacos and consome. I'll just stick with my tacos from Que chivo. or even. Taco Bell. I ordered the buffalo wings based on how good they looked in the picture but they arrived not looking anything like it. Nick ordered the Quesadilla with Birria and Horchata He really liked his meal and drink. Kareem ordered the Walking Taco and Tres Leches which he really enjoyed as well. I ordered the buffalo wings, Horchata, and Churros. The wings were fried beyond belief and the sauce was dreadfully spicy, not like buffalo sauce at all. One of my favorite local taco shops that was known for its authentic delicious flavors and large portions. I always felt full after ordering a Taco Birria Combo, but left sorely dissapointed this time around. There was almost half as much meat in the tacos then the way it used to be. This is one of our go-to dashes. Who would have thought traveling tacos could be a thing!? But they arrive with crispy fresh flavors- every time. The Quesabirria (Birria pizza) is why I started eating here and keep coming back. Those churros- how do they stay so hot and crispy- even with that caramel sauce dripping off of them!? This place is amazing! The inside is a little plain, but I love the hanging plants from the ceiling. It wasn't too loud, soft music playing in the background. You order your food at the kiosk and then it is ready within five minutes. We got two different tacos, chips, and salsa, and churros. The churros didn't come with any dipping sauce on the side and after we ate our tacos we moved to the churros, they were pretty hard but good. The food was excellent. It came out relatively fast. Oddly, the quesadilla didn't have a chicken option, but it was still very good. Here's the issue, in my burrito bowl I ordered extra chicken ($3) but i can't possibly have gotten it -- there was very little chicken on the bowl. Additionally, my son ordered jalapenos on his burger (up charge), but didn't get it in. Our third meal didn't have any add ons, so it seems as if they missed add ons. The food is great, I'd give 5 stars on that alone. The service is beyond terrible, especially if the old lady is expediting. My orders have been wrong 4 times in a row- ingredients are magically added to dishes when they aren't listed. Ingredients listed on the menu and description are not present in the actual food. If you order and wait, make sure you hound her for your food. They don't call numbers or remember you from when you ordered 5 minutes ago. Salsa my line of demarcation for South American cuisine is how good the Salsa is, and ok, Big Papi's salsa is good. 2. A variety of selections is important - another plus here! I found this spot on TikTok and added it to my list of places to try/review. Luckily we had family in town from Hawaii so we decided to treat ourselves. Location: The location is in an Industrial Park setting off in the cut a bit. They have limited seating and one table outdoors. The inside is lit with good lighting and green lights that shine on the plants to enhance the atmosphere. It's an open floor plan with two bench tables inside. Most people order and wait in their car or inside. You have the option to order on the tablet and if you enter your information you'll be notified via text when your order is ready. It also had pictures next to each item so you'll know what you're ordering. They had music playing as well with a green plant photo wall. Service: Service was good, they were welcoming and answered my questions. There was even an accident that happened where my churros container fell on the floor from the counter as they were packing an order. They promptly replaced them without me having to mention it. They even took our trash and put it in the other trash can while they were replacing the other bag. They cook our food made to order and it took a little while because this place is busy but that just means it's really good food so we were prepared for this. Food: The food here was excellent. 9 outta 10 easy. We all got something different. From the tacos, to the Birria taco pizza, to the corn to the ramen, yes ramen at the taco spot! Everyone loved their dishes. One described it as receiving a "warm hug" and the meat was tender and flavorful. We also got their juices which were refreshing but a bit sweet and finished our visit with delicious churros with caramel and powered sugar. So I tried Big Papi's for the first time today. I had a big order consisting of birria tacos, a fish taco, shrimp taco, elote on the cob, salsa, guacamole and chips. The only thing good was the birria tacos and fish taco. The shrimp taco had no real seasoning. The salsa had no seasoning, its tasted like store bought along with the so called homemade guacamole. Oh and the tortilla chips were stale so they got put in the trash. The biggest disappointment was the elote. My elote looked nothing like the picture on their website. No cheese, no chili powder or tajin just mayo (I'm attaching the pic) smh. We spent over $40 for food that we didn't enjoy. I will never order from here again. Save your money and go to Fajita Grande, Plaza Mexico or even the Mexican spot in the mall outside of JCPenny is better than this spot. read more

So this place use to be 5 stars. Now it's no better than Taco Bell. Sell outs to changing the menu to items that are not even Mexican or Salvadorian or Spanish. Old bay fries, burger tacos, grilled cheeses, wings and other things are just meh to eat won't have you saying damn that was amazing. The birria was and will hopefully be their go to but now charge for sauce to go items that should just get it. Penny pinching now which is fine but make sure my order is right when you rush to put it together. I have yet to be 100% correct for 10/10 orders. I'm maybe 30% odds my order will be right. Again tonight missing items. Now also who the hell is making your canned tomato paste salsa. It's nasty. The old stuff is still being pictured. False advertising. What kinda shit is that. It tastes like it that's for sure. Taco bells pkgs taste better. What happened to you guys? Why try to do and be something you're not. I was in Frederick at the time and decided to stop by to order one, as well as their birria nachos. It didn't take long for my order to be ready and the food was pretty delicious. My friend and I came here to try their tacos. The birria tacos are pretty good! The tortillas are crispy and the beef is seasoned well. The only thing is I wish there was more filling. We also ordered the fries with carne asada. I liked the batter on the fries, but everything else was pretty lackluster. The carne asada needed seasoning, and instead of getting cotija cheese, we got Mexican cheese. The side of pico de gallo was also very small for $2. My pico de gallo I ordered turned out to be a cup of what I can only describe as the broth in a chili, minus the chili contents. Just sort of tomato-y with some beef grease mixed in? The Birria tacos are to die for, give those a try. Delicious. The chorizo tacos...not so much. I've definitely had better. I can't really explain what was off, but they were definitely way over-salted. Deducting points for the disappointing chorizo and the "pico de gallo." This spot is an hour away but it is 1,000% worth the drive. The birria is so tender you don't even need teeth to eat it!! It is thee most flavorful and most delicious I have had in MD. Already planning my next trip. The only thing I haven't tried is the birria ramen but that's more of a fall/winter thing. As far as chicken tacos go this place is...okay. The elote in a cup tasted like canned corn and the queso fresco (if you can call it that) tasted like feet. The rockfish taco tasted like a fish stick, super fishy and too much batter to fish ratio. The rice was overburdened by the bell peppers to where that's all you taste. Horchata is okay...pretty gritty even with stirring, but the flavors are fine. Chips and salsa are horrid. Chips are like salt less shrapnel. Review: Big Papi's is a hidden gem, located in a quiet shopping center in an industrial park in Frederick, Maryland. I ordered tacos and my friend order a burrito. It was massive and had the delicious ingredients of shrimp, rice and a few other items. It was then deep fried. The burrito cost under $20, but was truly enough food for pretty much the rest of the day, that how big it was...you could probably share it. Or eat half and save some for later. Prepared from fresh ingredients, right in front of you. The taste was delightful and filling. It the type of burrito that almost too hot to eat but you just can't resist taking a bite. I loved my tacos but next time I want to try the huge burrito. If you want a nice ride into the country, and if you are in Frederick, Maryland, Big Papi's is the perfect lunch stop. Don't let the fact that Big Papi's is located in an industrial part of Frederick scare you away from visiting. This restaurant offers some pretty good food (tacos, burritos, quesadilla, taco salad, nachos, fries, quesabirria pizza, churros, various sides, and several beverage options) that's worth the drive. Currently take out only, so don't expect to dine in. Ordering is pretty easy and can be done yourself on the touch screen or through one of the friendly employees. I ordered birria tacos, carnitas tacos (made it a combo- which comes with rice, beans, and a drink- for $3 more), Papi fries, and the kid's chicken quesadilla with fries (free! $2 more if you want to add chicken). Between the two tacos, I surprisingly enjoyed the carnitas one more. Both came with well seasoned, juicy, and tender meat, but the carnitas was just tastier for me. My mind may have been changed if I ordered a small consome, which I didn't realize you need to order separately with the birria tacos. Papi fries with carne asada were good, and surprisingly survived the 35 minute drive home. Did it remind me of the carne asada fries from San Diego, not quite; however, it still did the trick. I washed my food down with some horchata, which I appreciated remained cold despite no ice in it. If I'm in the area again and craving Mexican food, I'll head over to Big Papi's again.
