The staff is super friendly and the food was fast and hot, however, it was not the type of Mexican food I like. The salsa was a watery Pico and the ground beef was sweet. I don't particularly care for sweet beef or pork but you might. The 3 stars is based upon the food being sweet vs. savory. I prefer Mexican to have a kick, some salt, cayenne, and garlic.

My last review was of Chevy's (Tex Mex), and for me it has always been a 5 star place. But there's no Chevy's that is located around Frederick, so I've been on a hunt to find a suitable Mexican joint that's more local to me. And I think Poblano Grill is it (for now). I was actually surprised by some of the reviews. The place was clean, the staff was kind, and my food was awesome. Maybe it's just because I usually get tacos, which are pretty hard to screw up (here's looking at you, Cafe Bueno -__-), so I'm rarely disappointed. But the chicken in my tacos was spiced just right, the shells were perfectly cooked, and even the sides of beans and rice were good as well. When I left the restaurant, I was seriously thinking "Is there anything negative I can say about this place?" And I couldn't come up with anything. So it doesn't matter that this is just some generic American Mexican restaurant. They had no foul ups for me, so I can't give any less than a 5/5.

The Poblano Grill is one of the big reasons I miss Ft. Detrick - today brought me back in the area. Great, authentic Mexican food, with no frills or frilly prices. Today, was it absolute BEST Steak Fajita Chimichanga I've ever had? Probably not. Is it the best one I've had for under $10? Absolutely. Hence my 5-stars. It is all about quality & value for me. Service is great. Chips & salsa are fresh & tasty.

Stopped in to have lunch since they offer veggie options. We both decided on the veggie fajitas. While the order was placed we feasted on chips and salsa Fresca. The chips were nice and warm and the salsa definitely tasted fresh. Our servers made sure we had plenty of salsa and brought out more chips....as if my waist line needed that. Our lunch came out and the veggies were excellent. They were not over cooked in oil like so many places that do veggie fajitas. The flavoring was spot on. The rice and lettuce were excellent as well. We asked for no sour cream since we are vegan. But it is an option for vegetarians. Now here is the reason for 4 stars and not five. There was no beans or avocado slices with the fajitas and only two tortillas. We were not given a choice between corn and flour tortillas. That could have been an oversight on our part but we were not asked. So I am not sure for some of you if they have a gluten free option. The price for the lunch version was very reasonable. With drinks, our lunch was less than $20 before tip. You can't beat that in the metro DC area. I would almost change it to a five star for that. Almost!

Just came from Texas and wanted some good Mexican food. This place did not disappoint! Great food right next to the Fort Detrick housing!

Got there at 5ish, and had a few patrons and kinda quiet. Very clean, music playing. The staff were SO FRIENDLY! They let me sample the tamarind drink = yummy. We ordered CARNE DESILADA CON HUEVO with French bread vs tortilla, I had the TACOS DE LENGUA and a TAMALES DE POLLO. Every bite was amazing for us both! I gotta say I have judged restaurants solely for their tamales alone, and this is literally one of the best I have ever had. It was huge with a giant tender piece of chicken in it, with a potato, tomato and chickpeas in it! Very unique but the taste...goodness. I want to go back now for another but I am FULL. The Lengua street tacos were on point, delicious. My husband's breakfast dish was fantastic he said, just enough. And he was SO HAPPY he chose the French bread, because apparently that was delicious. He wouldn't let me taste it, it was so good! We wanted to try the BUDIN (Salvadoran-style banana bread pudding) but they were sold out, likely because it was super delicious as well! Next time... Needless to say, we will be back and I'm going to brag to my office mates about this place. Please, try them out!

Well, we were sorely disappointed in what arrived. Including a picture of my Lengua taco. I asked for no onions but keep the cilantro and add cheese and tomato's. Instead, they gave me a horribly tiny portion of meat and nothing else [smh]. My husband was excited to get a breakfast plate. It did not have 1/2 of what was described (no cheese, no avocado, and only a mouthful of rice!). Additionally the eggs were supposed to have "peppers, onions and tomatoes" in them. The peppers were JALAPEÑOS! Loaded. Almost an inedible joke. And, they forgot to send the pupusa I ordered.... Again, very sad. Never again. I can't justify a second chance based on what they served. No pride in what they sent out tonight.

The lady at the register saw me taking pics of the menu and grabbed a paper menu to take with me. I will definitely stop by again and try some of their hot items.
