I've been here a few times and it's a solid, casual spot. Nothing fancy, but it serves its purpose. The food is decent, but honestly I mostly come here for the drinks. They're good, strong, and very reasonably priced. They also run a lot of specials -- both drink specials and food specials -- which is always nice if you're looking for variety or a good deal. Service can vary a little depending on who you get. They seem to have a rotating group of staff, and some servers are more knowledgeable than others, but everyone has always been attentive and friendly. Try the Fried Queso, and my go to is the "Pick Three"; Shredded Beef Flatus, Cheese Enchilada(they don't skimp on the cheese), and a Taco or Enchilada of some sort. Prices are very reasonable also. I love love, love fajita grande! It's the perfect place to come and get your Mexican food fix at a decent price. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes... But I especially love the fajitas. It's a large sizzling portion with rice, beans, and all the fixings'. I always end up taking delicious leftovers home. Service is good and the food comes out quick. My other favorite thing to order here is a carafe of margaritas! This time I got a mango strawberry flavor and it had a ton of mango purée! YUM! When my friend suggested this place for our group of 10 for lunch, I thought, "oh no, not another Mexican restaurant." Don't they all have the same items on their menu as the next place? And to answer that question, yes. But I have to admit, the food was good. Decor wasn't too fancy but atmosphere was friendly and food was plentiful. I ordered the Monterey Grill which included chicken, a skewer of shrimp, and steak. It came with beans and rice and a small side salad. I think our group was perfectly happy with their choices. As all the dishes came to the table piping hot, I saw plates of fajitas, tacos, enchiladas -- all smothered with melted cheese. Everything looked so scrumptious that I wanted to try them all. And at the end of the meal, I looked around the long table and saw that everyone finished with barely anything leftover. Now that was a good lunch! Service: Extremely friendly and efficient. Our waitress, Pauline, came back multiple times to check on us. She refilled drinks and brought chips and dips several times. Since we were a group of 10, they made the seating work for our large group. When we were ready for our checks, they correctly printed out checks for us six different ways. Parking: Plenty. Environment: They are still using styrofoam take out containers and providing plastic straws. Hope that changes soon. read more

We went there for the first time today 1/17/25 and the food was horrible. I've seen many good reviews but I can't post a good review for this place. The Margaritas were ok, nothing special. If I could give 0 stars I would. I never really give bad reviews even before trying their food, but this place did not want our business. We called in to place a take out order, they said ti would take about 20-25 mins. We ended up giving them closer to 35-40 mins. We got there and went inside to pick up the food. The host asked if it was a pick up and my bf told him yes. Went to the back and when he came back he didn't say anything to him. He waited for another 10 mins and no one else helped him. He walked out. He walked back in to give them another chance and the same thing happened, but this time NO ONE helped him. He could see a bunch of workers just sitting around in the back doing NOTHING. We should've taken it as a bad sign when there was a discount sign for all carryout orders. THEY DO NOT CARE! We ended up going to a different place for dinner. We got home, ate our food and about 1.5 hours later after the time we were supposed to pick up out food, someone from the restaurant had the audacity to call us back and tell us out food was ready. First time going there, definitely a good experience , the chicken fajitas are great, good portion and unbeatable price. I ordered the taco salad which wasn't bad just was't a fan, should've ordered the shredded beef over the ground. The waitress and manager took it off the bill without even asking after she saw i didn't eat much of it. First time thats happened and they were so nice about it, didn't make you feel guilty for not liking it. The entire staff i interacted with, the waitress, the manager and i believe the owner were great and genuinely were more interested in feedback than making money. Tucked into a strip mall, I wasn't expecting much from this place. The server did an excellent job and was great with the 2 kids we had. He looked like he was enjoying his job. They had the homemade chips with salsa and I got the Grande Burrito and it was delicious. It was so big I took half home and ate it later and it tasted even better? Service- pushy when there was only 2 other individuals eating in the whole restaurant, then never checked on us after we got our food and we had to ask for the check to be brought to us. OMG why does this place have such a great review. Let me start off by saying I am from SoCal so when it comes to Mexican food I have high standards, but this place even for east Coast was not worth the calories. Start with the good they smother their burritos then cover with cheese very cali which I like. They have shredded deef which is normally a good sign, however, theirs was way to wet and the flavor was horrible. The bad. Everything kind of had a smoky/mesquite taste which is normally found in Tex-Mex which I hate. The chips appeared to be baked and kind of dissolved in your mouth which was kind of gross. Everything was overcooked and mushy. We got there about 30 minutes after they opened. The rice was so over cooked it was almost inedible. There was a lack of flavor other than it all tasting the same with that smoky flavor. My husband who is from here said Taco Bell would have been better, which isn't saying much. All I can think of for the great reviews is they do have a great looking happy hour and the drinks are a great price. My husband ordered the big burrito, I got the 3 combo, tamale, spinach and cheese enchilada, and beef burrito. The tamale was ok, a tad dry but still ok. So I took my mom out to dinner the other night here and the service was so great. Anwar was our waiter and he and the staff always checked in every few minutes to see if we needed anything. Everyone was super helpful with refilling chips and salsa and drinks. The chips are fresh and thin which is a pleasant surprise for a Mexican place. Best food and service in Frederick Maryland. Every time I come here the food is hot fresh and made from scratch. I also really love their drink menu you get more bang for your buck here. The customer service is amazing you don't even have to ask for them to bring you boxes or the check. There was an overall cluttered uncleanliness. My foot slid a little as I side-stepped between protruding occupied chairs on the way to our booth. I looked down and saw a scattered array of beans, rice, and undetermined food particulates. The table felt like it wanted a really good wipe down with a serious cleaning solution and damp cloth.There is a high background noise. It reminded me of Golden Corral. APPETIZER We received the prerequisite chips & salsa, albeit the salsa bowl was about 1/2 cup in size. The chips were the dry baked kind you can get by the bag at Walmart. The salsa appeared to be straight from an off brand jar. We ordered the Queso Dip; it was oily and tasteless. DINNER We had enchilada plates, spinach &cheese and cheese & onion. These plates had sides of refried beans, Spanish rice, sour cream, and lettuce with pico. The enchiladas were tolerable, the beans had an off taste like scooped out of a can and heated too quickly, and the rice reminded me of the Spanish rice in the 90-second microwave bag from the grocery store. Traditional low priced Mexican fare. It is standard decent Mexican food you'll find in any American town. The serving sizes were large. The staff were Hispanic along with some of the customers which was a good sign. The food was served hot and timely. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. Best of all the dinner prices were great. They offer decent options on the children's menu for less than $4. At around 4:00 pm, Thursday, it was almost empty... While concerning at first before we left the restaurant was delightfully full before we left. Overall if you are looking for no frills Mexican food at large portions that won't break your wallet, this is your place. read more

Came with my family on a Saturday evening and although it was quite packed, we were seated very quickly! As soon as we sat down, we were served complimentary tortilla chips and housemade salsa. Loved the salsa since it was only slightly spicy! Our super friendly waiter also kindly brought us a green salsa which had much more heat to it! Our food did take a little while to come out, but it was quite busy and at least the waiter brought it to our attention that our orders were on the way. We ordered the veggie fajita, veggie Mexican pizza, spinach & cheese enchilada, and veggie chimichanga. Very generous portions and reasonable prices. This was the first time I had a Mexican pizza and it was really cool! It was a medley of veggies and cheese sandwiched between two fried flour tortillas. All the veggies were fresh and our orders came with a side of rice, lots of refried beans, a small amount of lettuce, a heaping dollop of sour cream, and pico de Gallo. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere and decorations! They had music playing which was audible but not overly loud, sombrero hats for light fixtures, guitars hanging on the walls, and clean restrooms! Fajita Grande is a pretty popular spot for us when we are in Frederick. Over the last few months they've been offering 20% off all takeout order which at first was great but now I wonder if they can still afford to have that promotion with everything going on. I am hopeful that they will stay open after all this is over. My favorite things to order is the horchata, mango salmon fajita and a side of plantains - in that order. I love that their plantains are always perfectly ripe and fried to perfection. And for $1.99 you certainly can't beat that. My husband usually gets the spinach and shrimp quesadilla and the baja shrimp. Really, everything we've had there so far is really good. Looking forward to our next take out. read more

I've been here about 10 times, and sure wish I could give it a better review. But this is just slightly better than Taco Bell. Main problem for me is slowwwwwwwwwwwwww service. They often take your order and disappear. Most of the dishes use chicken, ground beef or shredded beef. Very basic sauces and lots of cheese. May be the first Mexican restaurant I've ever been to that doesn't serve chorizo. If you want to eat enough food to make you feel like you swallowed the game ball, this is it. Lots and lots of chow, and for a reasonable price. But this place could be so much better if it wanted to. I have to admit that the lunch menu is good and food arrives quickly. read more

This is the best spot to eat in Frederick. Very reasonably priced, the food is the best Mexican in Frederick and the service is unbeatable. I need to give a huge thank you to Josh and Anwar for taking such great care of us when we come. We have been coming here for 15 years, they have watched my son grow up. When we are here we feel like part of the family! In all the 15 years, I have never eaten something that I didn't think was amazing, their service is fantastic EVERY TIME even when they are packed. We picked up dinner the other night and I am already craving them again. So my favorites: Off the bat the chips and salsa are fresh and tasty along with the guac and queso chicken flautas- OMG to die for and the sauce that comes with it, I could literally drink it, it is so good. Fajitas (any kind)- so delicious and so much food- ends up being two meals Chimichangas- huge fan, crispy and delicious Burritos- huge is the word, delicious follows Wings- yes I said it, normally wouldn't think of here for wings but they beat a lot of wing places I have been to. They come out crisp and has a really nice sauce to it. Enchiladas- my grandma loves their enchiladas- she is 89 and says they are the best she has had. I like Cacique and Mariachi better, but they're also more expensive. Fajita Grande is great if you're looking for a gut bomb; don't come looking for something light like ceviche and salad (like I did the first time we went). They have fabulous sangria in a sturdy glass with plenty of ice. I had one of their house margaritas once and it was like drinking straight, bottom shelf tequila. I sent it back and they "fixed" it, but it was still awful. I'm not sure if it's always like that, but I'll stick with the sangria (which I prefer anyway). They have a patio that provides for some interesting entertainment in the summer if you're familiar with this end of the Golden Mile. read more
