We ordered via DoorDash, which I hate to do when trying a restaurant for the 1st time but the menu and pictures were both unique and enticing. Well, we were sorely disappointed in what arrived. Including a picture of my Lengua taco. I asked for no onions but keep the cilantro and add cheese and tomato's. Instead, they gave me a horribly tiny portion of meat and nothing else [smh]. My husband was excited to get a breakfast plate. It did not have 1/2 of what was described (no cheese, no avocado, and only a mouthful of rice!). Additionally the eggs were supposed to have "peppers, onions and tomatoes" in them. The peppers were JALAPEÑOS! Loaded. Almost an inedible joke. And, they forgot to send the pupusa I ordered.... Again, very sad. Never again. I can't justify a second chance based on what they served. No pride in what they sent out tonight. read more

I was in Frederick to stop at a few spots and decided to look for a local bakery that has latin breads. What's great is they often an array of options to sit down and enjoy, or even take home, from tamales to papusas and baked goods. The restaurant has plenty of seating and had a welcoming ambiance. I walked in, grabbed a tray and tongs and grabbed several baked goods. Everything looked delicious. I paid around $10 for everything, which was like 6 pastries. The lady at the register saw me taking pics of the menu and grabbed a paper menu to take with me. I will definitely stop by again and try some of their hot items. read more

My girlfriend loves the sweets here and frequents here quite often. I've had them myself and they go great with my tea while she has their coffee. I have not tried their pupusas but I am satisfied with their sweets! I also think the seating situation is quite unique with the woodish chairs. read more

The tamales and pupusas were amazing and the prices were great. We both got one of each and it was just enough food for a good lunch. We both ate with drinks for under $15 and then got a couple bags full of desserts to go for less than $10. We were a bit wary with the earlier reviews but were pleasantly surprised. I'm absolutely baffled by the negative reviews here. Sabor Casero is great. I mainly go there for the chilaquiles, early on the weekends - they're super tasty. Their baked goods are delicious, as well. To the reviewers who are complaining that some of the staff don't speak English: maybe you shouldn't be going to a Latino bakery? I have a very limited command of Spanish, and I've never failed to get my order across. It's completely shitty to give a business a one-star review because you don't know how to cope with a language barrier. read more

Hey, its best to know that you are in a Mexican bakery when you come in here if you'd rather be at the Martin's Bakery Department. They serve Salvadorian street food here. Having eaten my only papusas in a couple of Frederick Salvadorian restaurants, I could never understand why food critics like Jonathan Gold made such a big deal about papusas. That is until I ordered the cheese and meat papusas at Sabor Casero! f Wow! $2 each, 3 absolutely filled a pig like me. Deliciously filled. This was my first time and last time here. I love hispanic food, im hispanic. This place serves the worst food i have ever tasted. My family and i ordered tacos and tortas. The tacos were cold and the meat was burnt, looked days old, and it tasted like i was eating damn gummies. The tortas had a huge junk of meat that had a ton of nerve in it. Went in because I keep passing by and the photos of the cakes looked so good. Stood inline then ask the cashier whats the different type of cakes do they sell. I got deer in the headlight. I have been making Cuban sandwiches at home using deli rolls, when I remembered Frederick has a Cuban bakery that should have some rolls for my delicious Ciban pressed sandwiches. WRONG..I went there and headed straight to the many display cases that they have and found nothing that bbn even looked familiar. None of the baked items had a label on them even suggesting what exactly that it was. So I ventured to the counter to vhf ask the cashier if they had any of the bread for Cuban Sandwiches. She pointed to an open bag of buns that I assume that they make there own sandwiches with. I said "yes, can I buy some?" She said "NO!" Meanwhile some guy dressed in a chef jacket heard the entire conversation and was chatting with a person eating and not once asked if I needed assistance. Very disappointed read more

Just moved to the area and have driven pass this bakery in several occasions. Was always looking forward to trying it out. The day I decide to finally walk in, there's about 3-4 people seating on one of their tables. They greeted and asked me if I needed any help. I said, I just want to look at your bread options (which was very limited). Also, the lights of the dinning area were all off. I wasn't sure if they were trying to close (it was only about 5pm). So I grabbed a couple pieces of bread as quickly as I could. I then went to the register. The cashier asked if I was paying with card or cash. Which I responded card. He goes and tells me that their system is down... So why not announce it at the door or at least don't ask me how I'm paying if there's only one option. I was feeling kind, so I said ok, then cash it is. He then looks at the bread I got and starts looking at sticky notes which I assumed had the prices of their products on them. This process takes him about 10 mins. He then finally said, it is $5.25. Then wraps my bread in some baking paper and then places it into a plastic bag (which was nice) but this took him another 5 mins. Then one of the ladies sitting at the table comes around the register. She asked "have you charged him?" He stated, no. (Which was true). Then she started clicking on her little calculator. The total somehow goes up to $6.80. Which I found a bit odd but at this point I was just trying to leave the place. I hand her my $20. Then she asks, do you have .80 (I did not). So she states that they don't have change either... Then charges me $7 to what originally was a $5.25 purchase. I understand the system being off or what not but at least notify your costumers beforehand (at the door) and what type of business does not have change? read more
