Great local food from a business that supports other local businesses.
Valarie D.

This place is the real deal. When we moved to Maryland from California, we searched high and low to find really good Mexican food. The 1st 18 months, while living in Silver Spring, we got our Mexican food fix from a taco truck parked at a gas station. We aren't fancy people. After moving to Urbana, the search continued. After hit and miss, we stumbled upon a new storefront in Buckeystown, that was being opened to support their food truck business. Our long search was over. We visit Traditional Authentic Mexican Food's storefront at least once a month. They make traditional Mexican tamales, like the ones found in bakeries in East LA. We have ordered and enjoyed them for the last 2 years. Their street tacos are amazing - get the Pastor. You're welcome The enchiladas; delicious. The street corn - OMG. And the ownership is wonderful. Teressa single-handed saved our Hanukkah celebration. Thank you Their food trucks can be found frequently at various local breweries, serving selections from their menu. They can cater parties and weddings. They have supported local school PTAs through Food Truck nights. Please support this restaurant and other local businesses so that we can have good options in our neighborhoods. Below is a photo of the logo on their storefront and trucks. I would post food photos, but we ate the evidence

It was a nice day, but since the patio is off to the side and shaded, it was a little chilly sitting out there in October. Finding the patio was a bit confusing at first. You have to walk back outside and around the restaurant, and the fenced-in area wasn't immediately obvious to me. Once I figured it out, though, I was able to sit down and look over the menu. The server who initially helped me was really cool and brought the menu out to me. Since the happy hour special applied to drinks rather than food, I asked if I could order my drink outside and then take it inside to order my food. She was accommodating and brought my drink inside for me. It worked out well because Tuesday is also their taco special day, so I got to take advantage of both deals! I ordered a chicken taco and a fish taco, and the food came out really quickly, within about five minutes. Both tacos were tasty, and the margarita was decent. The fish taco was HOT when it arrived temperature-wise, so be careful taking that first bite! The tacos were fairly simple, with toppings like shredded cabbage and onions, and I was asked if I wanted hot sauce. They didn't come with much else, but considering these were special-priced tacos, I wasn't expecting a full meal with sides. Service seemed to be shared among the staff. One person took my order, another brought out my food and checked whether I needed anything else, and someone else handled my payment. Everyone seemed to manage things just fine. Overall, it was a decent experience. Nothing particularly blew me away, but the food was tasty, service was quick, and the Tuesday taco special was a nice bonus. I'd stop in again if I were in the area and wanted a quick bite or a happy hour drink.

We got there ariund 4pm on a Saturday. It was 4th of July, but we were able to find street parking. And because it was a holiday, we didn't have to pay for parking! When we walked in, the bar was prettyfull, but there were plenty of high tops by the bar that were open. They have 3 TVs set up in the bar area, playing the soccer games. We got there at the perfect time. Our server came and took our drink orders. I went with a classic guava margarita, which I really enjoyed. We ordered tacos, carne and birria and the mixed pupusas. Everything was really good with great flavor. I was very impressed. We stayed for most of the game, and it got pretty busy. They also have a dining area in the back, which also has tvs set up. I would definitely come back and try other options on the menu. This will be a go to in Frederick for sure! Great place for food, drinks, and to watch the games.

The ambience is nice and homely, nothing too complicated but more than enough space for a family dinner. Beautiful decorations inside that celebrate El Salvador. Everyone who works there is super sweet and make sure all your needs are met and explain the menu very well. The pupusas are nuts and huge, stuffed to the brim overflowing with cheese and whatever topping you picked. They are so hot and fresh they could sear your lips off genuinely. You watch them cook it fresh on a large stove/ grill and bring it to you in baskets. The cheese they use is salty and delicious and we reallly enjoy the lorroco, jalapeños, and spinach add ins. Don't skip on the sides, their yuca fries are super crispy and thick and I love the crema and plantains. The plantains are almost caramelized and have a decadent sweetness to them that goes so well with the crema. The refried beans are also amazing! Definitely best pupusa spot in Frederick and they are so generous with the stuffing.

I also loved the outdoor patio seating, which is pet-friendly, making it the perfect place to bring your four-legged companion while enjoying the beautiful weather. The indoor dining area is equally impressive--clean, comfortable, and inviting. It's refreshing to find a restaurant that consistently delivers excellent food, outstanding drinks, exceptional customer service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Well, we were sorely disappointed in what arrived. Including a picture of my Lengua taco. I asked for no onions but keep the cilantro and add cheese and tomato's. Instead, they gave me a horribly tiny portion of meat and nothing else [smh]. My husband was excited to get a breakfast plate. It did not have 1/2 of what was described (no cheese, no avocado, and only a mouthful of rice!). Additionally the eggs were supposed to have "peppers, onions and tomatoes" in them. The peppers were JALAPEÑOS! Loaded. Almost an inedible joke. And, they forgot to send the pupusa I ordered.... Again, very sad. Never again. I can't justify a second chance based on what they served. No pride in what they sent out tonight.
