    Brisket and Pulled Pork sandwiches
    Adam C.

I'd give em 6 stars if I could. The Brisket was right on point. Hush puppies with honey butter delicious. They pile on the tater tot's with like half a bag. Portions are very generous. Only downer is it takes about 10 minutes or so to get your food. When you do it's fresh though and worth the wait.

    a plate of fried food

Oh my goodness. This BBQ is so homey, delicious, and reasonably priced too! I drove an hour because I really missed NC BBQ and wanted to try, and I honestly think the BBQ here is the best in the DMV. I got the brisket, fried Mac and cheese, sweet scallion hush puppies, and coleslaw - everything was absolutely amazing. The hush puppies also came with an apple cider butter, which was a cool touch!! Amazing food, awesome service, phenomenal experience.

This is what's left of the business

This hard to find joint is a shell of what it used to be I guess. This little shack is hidden behind a building that's for sale. I was teased with pics of racks of ribs. Those days are over. No longer are ribs avail. Heck the avail menu is a fraction of what it used to be. Want a pork sandwich? Your in luck. Not much else to be had. I wish them well. Now please excuse me while I head over to Mackeys BBQ.

I feel like I've done an injustice by my short previous review. As much as Blues BBQ leaves me at a loss for words by it's amazingness, I really need to stress that THIS IS THE BEST BBQ I'VE EVER HAD! Pretty much, anywhere I go for BBQ, Blues Truck is the place to beat. As of yet, I haven't been able to find better. My favorite is the Carolina pulled pork with slaw. The fries, are probably the best fries you will ever have. My brother usually gets the Pit Beef sandwich, which I've also tried and is just soooo good. I know most people won't make the trip out to Frederick for a food truck which is just sad to me. If you want to try the best BBQ, get yourself up to exit 31 on 270. They have a new location behind a tattoo place on 355.

Chilli cheese fries, with extra onion for me!!

Everything here is good! But I LOVE the chilli! They are super nice and actually make me chilli cheese fries, even though it's not on the menu! The fries are double fried and super tasty! They use peices of brisket, and not too many beans! Also, the hushpuppies with cinnamon butter is the bomb. They guy working is super nice and has an cool shark tattoo! I highly recommend this spot for real bbq!

Three and a half stars. Truck is barely visible from the road with a thin BBQ banner and lettered sign routing you behind Snakeman's tattoo/piercing/leather shop. Table and trash can nearby when the weather's willing, somewhat limited parking in the shared gravel parking lot. Blue's staff were friendly, though the money-handler was under the weather. Soda beverages available. They overcharged me on a different amount than their displayed menu stated, and forgot one of my sides-- both were resolved in a timely fashion. It's rare that I like the sides more than the meat at a BBQ spot. Fried pickles were awesome, definitely get those. Warm hush puppies were light on scallion, with a good crust and soft interior... sadly served with cold, hard butter. Coleslaw was okay. Half-tub of BBQ white & pink beans were hearty, with some pulled meat mixed in. Carolina style pulled pork sandwich was pretty dry, which the cashier insisted it was supposed to be despite the menu's apple vinegar sauce description. Smoked brisket sandwich was better, though the meat was sliced thin and there was barely any minimal bark. Kaiser rolls weren't super plush. Future hit list: the missile, pit beef/ham, baby back ribs, fried mac n cheese, ultimate muchos nachos, chili cheese fries, loaded baked potato salad.

I have visited "Blues" numerous times over the years and it's always delicious. In fact, well over 10 years ago I met a friend while standing in line. We bonded over how much we love the food, and now he's saved in my contacts with a reference to the blues BBQ. I digress. I was craving a Carolina pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw that only Blues could provide. I was so disappointed when I arrived and they were closed. But Patrick, the owner, was kind enough to prepare a sandwich for me. Not only that oh, he included Hush Puppies fries and cranberry butter. Everything was delicious! I have never had the cranberry butter so I was thrilled to try it on the hush puppies. The temperature of the food was perfect the fries were seasoned just right and I even had enough for leftovers. Every time I come to Blues BBQ, I get delicious food and service with a smile. Highly recommend!

Memphis Pulled Pork Sandwich and Hush Puppies
    Laura D.

Great little BBQ spot. Ordered a Memphis-style pulled pork sandwich and hush puppies. Such great flavor and a generous portion size. I had planned to order a side of baked beans, but they were out. We went toward the end of the day on a Saturday, so that might have been why. Most people order take away orders but there's also a grassy are with picnic tables if you want to eat there.

    Carolina pulled pork with fries

Best BBQ in the area and maybe Maryland. I've only tried the Carolina pulled pork with slaw and it is amazing. The fries are better than Boardwalk fries and the hush puppies were good with the honey butter they give you. My kids love the ham and my husband well he eats anything. I really want to try the ribs but every time I go I get the pulled pork because it is that good. I recommend this place to a coworker who now goes there at least once a week. He said everything is delicious and I really need to try the ribs. They do take credit cards but sometimes the machine is down. The only seating is outside at picnic tables so plan to bring it home or dress appropriately for the weather. You won't be disappointed especially if you want good pulled pork.

So glad we came across this place thanks to Yelp while in the area! At first we had a hard time finding it as it was a bit hidden behind two buildings so we missed it at first. It's just a truck with a little shack built next to it. No indoor seating. I am forgetting the exact name of what I got but I think I got the Carolina - with slaw on top and a side of hush puppies. Really so yummy, I think some of my favorite hush puppies I have ever had. The sandwich had really great flavors and was HUGE. My only wish is that it had more slaw, but no other complaints!

I am in town to drop my son off at college. So I looked up on Yelp for local food joints and ran across Blues BBQ. First let me say the guy who owns the joint is really cool. I'm from the south specifically Dallas,Tx so the pressure was on to get it right. After discussing the menu options he recommended his brisket and ribs. And I settled on a side of collard greens and hush puppies. The brisket was delicious. Very tender, nice smokey flavor and I must say I was impressed. The ribs are pretty good also with an amazing sauce. Sweet with a little spice, complimented the ribs perfectly. He gave me some type of apple butter that I used as a dip for my hush puppies and they were really good. I love my collard greens with hot sauce but none was available. I didn't think to ask for some. Not sure if he had any or not. But in spite of that the collard greens were good, seasoned well and very tender. I loved the food. He even gave me a free soda with my meal. Great customer service. I salute you sir for showing me some Texas kind of hospitality. I would definitely recommend checking him out. He has a spot that you walk up to with some tables set up outside. Don't let the location deter you from this hidden gem. Thanks for a good experience.

Amazing!!!! The sandwiches are ridiculously rich and delicious!!! We stumbled upon this gem while car shopping in Fredrick. It's about a 30 minute drive for us, but I would go back for the sides alone! Fried pickles, hush puppies w/ Apple honey butter, Mac and cheese bites, we are in heaven!! Great job Blues bbq!!! I can't believe they don't have thousands of reviews, a must when in Fredrick!

I've lived here for a year and we just got Blues for the first time. How the hECk have I not been here!!! Literally wanted to cry, everything was so frickin good. Brisket, pulled pork sammy, HUSH PUPPIES, fries- all to die for. I can't believe I gyped myself of a year of this deliciousness. Hands down best bbq in Frederick, we've been to all of them now.

They've upgraded! They now are cooking out of a large trailer and have added several tables. Lookin' good!

They appear to still be using their 50/50 beef and bacon blend, and they were grinding/blending more meat when I arrived. The finished product itself makes me seriously question their palette. While smash style burgers aren't my favorite, I have enjoyed some good ones. The one I was served today was so smashed that any residual flavor from the meat blend was virtually eliminated. This was then overwhelmed by the sheer smack-your-face acid from the pickles and mustard. Further cementing my poor experience, the server acted as though my order was an afterthought. Probably not the attitude one should express towards any patron, much less to start the business day. There are LOTS of outstanding burger options in and surrounding Frederick. Given that, this genuinely poor experience, and the premium charge for their products; I am fairly certain I won't be back.
