We also ordered a steak and eggs meal to go, which took about 30 minutes. When it was opened later, it contained only three small slices of steak. So barely 3 minutes after walking up to the entrance, we were heading back to our truck. The chefs were still there and immediately asked us why we weren't staying to eat. When we explained that we hadn't realized they closed at 7:30, they looked at us and said, "Go back in there and tell them we said we're still open for you guys." We were a bit concerned that we'd cause hard feelings and said we could just come back a different day, and they wouldn't have it. "We're the guys who'll be cooking, not them, if we're okay with it, then what have you got to lose?" We looked at each other and thought briefly and headed back up to the entrance. When the bartender learned it was our first anniversary, she made sure to get a candle to put in the cake for us, it was a very nice and welcoming touch. The bar staff was on their game with the service, keeping drinks full and checking on us frequently to make sure we were good to go. There were only two other tables still seated in the restaurant at that point, and they were actually there already eating when we first arrived. They were still there when we departed, so we assumed they may have been family friends or locally important patrons. The ambiance of the restaurant has a very British Pub feel to it, and it is so amazingly cozy and feels like home. We both left with an amazing impression and cannot wait for another chance to try some of the other menu options. I'm very curious to try the Filet Mignon next time, but the Stroganoff looked quite tempting as well. I think we both found a place that we'll absolutely keep on the short list of places to revisit next time we're in town.
