I was leaving Target, and saw that the Chick Fil A drive through was bananas! I really felt like some Mexican food, and wondered if there was a good taco place close by. Tacos Carlitos popped up on Yelp, and I was a little confused - *where* was this place? Inside the mall? Really? The reviews and photos looked promising, so I decided to give them a try. SO glad I did! People, this place is honest to goodness real Mexican food! This California girl was so excited to have some legit Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos! The next surprise was the price - I was there on Taco Thursday (they do Taco Tuesday AND Taco Thursday specials) - my total was $4! I paid more for my pumpkin spice cold brew today than lunch! The tacos were definitely on point! The Al Pastor taco was absolutely delicious - good balance of sweet and heat! The Asada was very good, though I like just a bit more char on the beef. The tortillas were delicious and sturdy, and the cilantro was super fresh. Next time, I'll definitely order both Al Pastor, and give the guacamole a try! I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now. I finally got to while I stopped by the mall yesterday. I got my little girl the kids beef tacos which came with some delicious tortilla chips and a juice pouch for $6.99 and I got myself a Milanesa de Res torta which is a crispy steak Mexican sandwich for $11.99. They came out super quick and the plantains were nice and hot. The mango was soft and ripe and the Chile on it wasn't too overpowering. The service was friendly and prompt, and despite being in a mall food court with little seating, I will eat here again (and again...) Just finished raving to a friend about how nice the owner about how nice he was. Well today was a different story. I order ed a kids nugget meal with cheese fry only. Clarified i wanted only cheese. I also made a seperate order of cheese fries and a beef taco to treat my friend. Staff joked around and served other guests prior to me fine. I was then presented with a fry that looked to be sprinkled with Parmesan. The young lady who prepared the food says a order of cheese fries is "confusing " and she took them back. I again asked for only cheese. By this time beef taco comes out. Very sloppily preparation, all toppings fell out , had to ask for a fork which i guess was problematic to the owner as it interrupted his side conversation. Next they presented me burned nuggets dripping in grease , fine. So finally last set of fries comes out - with NO cheese. Since there is now a line, I assumed they were just overwhelmed. Which is ok. I asked the girl who prepared the food for a refund on the cheese fries ONLY. She pointed me to the line. The owner asked me what the issue is, I explained my order for fries was wrong twice and I wanted a refund for the fries ONLY not my whole meal. He shooed me aside and served other customers??? After waiting patiently, he said" i give you your money back and dont ever come back!!" Excuse me??!!! I was not loud or rude and didn't even ask for a full refund! I tgen yelled to him I didn't disyou Sir please dont talk to me like that! He continued yelling in Spanish. I was so embarrassed that I recommended his place of business. I just threw the rest of the uneaten food in the garbage. I told him if he was going to be nasty and unprofessional, he should've given me a FULL refund and he should be ashamed of himself at his age. Keep the money Sir.
