So far we entered this place and the staff are very nice! I ordered three birria tacos at $5 each. I usually don't think the price is too bad when you're eating authentic food. My wife got the steak enchilada and my daughter got the wings. We were seated and got chips and salsa with our drink. The 3 birria tacos were so good !!! The steak enchiladas were packed with steak bites and were so creamy and delicious! The wings were crispy and moist inside with a nice tangy buffalo sauce. My family and I definitely enjoyed this location and I recommend giving it a try. read more

Excellent. Fresh and delicious. Really nice recipes. The mural says the flavors are from Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras. Couldn't finish our food so taking the rest home with extra beans and rice ( which were both a notch above). My husband had tres tacos and a horchata (different from Mexican horchata). I'd heard about this place from others, so was looking forward to our planned lunch pickup from them. We were driving through the area and wanted to grab some tacos for lunch. We called ahead to order and that requires some patience as the atmosphere in the background is lively and you need to make sure you're clear in your request. The PDF menu online and what is on the online order menu are different - both pricing and options - so we stuck with the filling choices from the PDF menu. I went for a chicken taco and a chorizo taco. They are on two corn tortillas (flour available by request for a slight upcharge) that are amply filled with meat that is clearly well prepared and seasoned. All tacos are served with a side of cilantro, onions, radish and cucumbers with two salsas (red and green). The chorizo was by far my favorite, but both were good. The service was a little interesting. The lady began taking my order and then stopped mid way through to take the order of a guy that walked in after me... not sure what that was about. I ordered the fajitas and a chicken taco. The food was delicious, it also had a really good flavor. I put way too much of the red and green sauces and it was extremely spicy but still good. I came here for take out, we ordered a burrito, tongue tacos, carne asada taco, pork and cheese pupusa and carne asada. My husband said the burrito was pretty good but we both agreed the tacos are to die for. The tongue tacos was so soft and tender, I loved every bite and was a tad sad it was gone.. now I can't say the same for the pupusa and carne asada. The pupusa was a tad on the dried side for me and the carne asada was very very salty. I would highly recommend this place for tacos but everything else I would say try at your own risk. read more

This place should be top of the charts, really. We got one of each taco, and they were OUTSTANDING. Honestly, the tongue was a little dry and chewy, but the rest were great, especially the chorizo. We also got nachos, which came with real chunks of chicken, not unidentifiable meats or even ground/pulled, which made it seem fresher. Probably the most important part of this place is the SAUCES. The ambience is amazing: the music is a bunch of dope mariachi/ folk stuff I don't know the words to, but for me, it sets the stage for a perfect dining experience. Came here not expecting much but we had an amazing meal. I ordered 2 tacos, one lengua and one asada plus a pupusa de loroco. My boyfriend ordered fried fish with rice, beans, salad and tortilla. I am so picky about my tacos and pupusas but this place hit the spot. The meat in the tacos were so full of flavor and the pupusa had just the right amount of cheese to dough ratio. The fish was cooked perfectly (crispy on the outside and moist inside) and had fried onions stuffed inside. Yum! Rice and beans were just as tasty. As a Salvadoran, I definitely recommend this place. Didn't think we'd find a place to top Cafe Bueno but I'm sorry, this place totally does. The papusas are the things dreams are made of. Hot, fresh, cooked perfectly, and oh so tasty. The TACOS man. So delicious. I had shrimp and they were seasoned perfectly. Hubs had, of course, his usual steak and cheese, and he was so pleased. The queso dip is creamy and dreamy. The guac is the bomb.com. The plantains are so so good. Everything we have tried (on several trips back) has been incredible. The staff is nice and helpful with helping you pick what you want to eat. This place has excellent authentic tacos at a great price! I stopped in on a rainy day before going to the nearby Aldi's. They brought me chips and salsa right away. The chips were thin and crispy and the salsa was not the best I've had but still tasty. I ordered water to drink and they made sure my glass stayed full. I tried the fish taco and the carnitas taco and both were fantastic. If you're expecting cheese, lettuce and tomato on a crunchy taco, you're going to be disappointed. These are authentic tacos on a soft corn tortillas with onions and cilantro and radish and cucumber on the side. They brought 2 sauces to the table to go with the tacos... one green and one spicy. I really liked the green sauce. I also had a loroco pupusa. It was tasty but I would have preferred chicken and cheese, which they were out of. The pupusa came with a tasty slaw and a red sauce that is like many that I've had served with pupusas in other places but I'm not a big fan of that sauce anywhere. I would have liked to try their plantains but, thankfully, was told that they weren't ripe enough and they would prefer that I did not order them. I appreciated that they let me know this rather than be disappointed by the lack of flavor. My bill came to under $7 dollars for a very filling lunch. I will be returning! read more

I was excited to see this new restaurant open in this particular shopping center that lacks any eating establishments. We ordered six cheese papoosas. The order came with a slaw type salad, a container of red sauce and Mexican style chips and salsa. I was surprised to see the latter given that El Eden is a Salvadorian restaurant. We ordered our food to go. To say the papoosas were bad is putting it mildly. They were the worst I have ever had. I have no idea how or why this restaurant would serve such awful food given the large hispanic population in the area. The papoosas were overloaded with cheese that extended an inch beyond the edge of the dough. Oddly, the outer dough was extremely thin. I could lift the dough with my fingers, separating easily from the cheese filling. The outer dough was the thickness of a taco shell, which is not typical. I have never seen anything like it and I've been eating papoosas for years from various places in and around Montgomery County to a few in Frederick, including another place that sits right on the opposite side of the shopping center where El Eden is located. The worst part was the taste of the cheese! It tasted like vinegar, a very odd flavor for white, campesino or queso blanco cheese. We came to the conclusion that it was either a very low quality cheese or it was just spoiled. We didn't eat past the first bite or two. Along with the papoosas came a container of red sauce in a styrofoam container. The sauce appeared to be watered down. When I removed the lid from the container, I noticed a piece of soggy iceberg lettuce floating inside which didn't seem intentional. The lettuce had seen better days, and the look of it when I pulled it out of the sauce, prevented us from tasting it. The slaw was spicy, with an odd orange/yellow color and very dry. Other than the spice from the dried red chile we could see, it was entirely tasteless. We each tried one bite and came to the same conclusion. It was not at all good. As it turns out, the only thing we ended up eating were the chips and mild salsa. While this isn't a Mexican restaurant, the salsa seemed fresh and homemade, and the chips were thin and crispy, and fried by hand, not from a bag. This was the only thing we ended up eating from the entire order. I strong recommend you keep walking if you pass this place. I would give it a zero rating if I could, but Yelp doesn't have that option. I'm sorry that the owners don't care much for the quality of their food, given how simple a papoosa is to make, and given the great support they would receive from the local community. If they wish to succeed, they will need to pay better attention to what they are serving up to customers. Bad food like this will surely only get them so far for only so long. read more
