Spoonful of queso

This jello shot sized condiment cup is $5 worth of queso.? Literally 2 tbsp. First and last time we'll be going there

Mole was delicious!!!

Great food and service! Very accommodating and friendly environment....must try as a locally owned and operated restaurant!! The owners, Mani and his cousin personally came out to see how our experience and food was.

We met my son and girlfriend for lunch here. My son…read moresuggested this restaurant. It was my first time eating here and it was worth every minute and dollar. The food here is excellent. We have been to numerous Mexican restaurants in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. I rank this among one of the best among them. I enjoy Tex Mex and traditional Mexican food and most of the time I'm not usually overly impressed with most of the food. The menu is very extensive and larger than I have seen at many other Mexican restaurants. My wife and I had the arroz con Pollo (rice and chicken) bowl. It was excellent. The chicken and rice were both moist and tender and not too spicy. Portion sizes were ver generous. We had enough leftovers to have another lunch at home. I like that they offer a lower priced lunch menu, without sacrificing quantity or quality. The service was excellent. Our server was very sweet and friendly and offered suggestions on what to try. She was very attentive and checked on us regularly. There are plenty of booths and tables with each seating four people comfortably. There is a small bar at the front of the restaurant on the right side as you enter. They offer beer and mixed drinks as well as soft drinks. The dining area is colorfully and cheerfully decorated The dining area and bathrooms were very clean. There is an adequate sized parking lot. I easily recommend this restaurant for its quality food, friendly staff, cheerful decor and extensive menu.

Our server was awesome too. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome without checking on us every two minutes. I also found out they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. We didn't get to experience that this time, but it's definitely a good reason to come back. Looking forward to seeing what the atmosphere is like on a live music night.

I'm happy to say the food's as good or better, with good service in an interesting setting. On crowded Massey boulevard with its strip malls and chain restaurants, it takes a keen eye to pick out this spot (hint - look for the Hobby Lobby parking lot). Then get ready for some unusual decor - the last occupant, a seafood place, did a LOT of intense decorating, including ocean-blue floors and dock pilings. We've visited this location 3 or 4 times now, and the food's been fine, partly out of our sentiment for the gone Frederick location. It's not hard to find Latino cuisine around here, but Mexicali had some of our favorites, including the delicious chiles rellenos (here, fried battered chilis, stuffed with cheese). When we went last week, it seemed clear they'd recently stepped up the game a little - new dinnerware and maybe even larger portions, and just as tasty if not more so. As usual, the chips were crispy and good (though our basket was mostly fragments) and the house salsa is a treat, fresh and zippy but not too hot. I had my go-to Azteca combo, with that chile relleno, a pork tamal, and a chicken enchilada, along with Mexican rice (though no beans this time, for some reason). My wife chose her favorite shrimp fajitas, also with beans and rice, though maybe a little skimpy on the bell peppers this time. My classic margarita on the rocks was big and zesty. Our server was attentive and polite. The crowd was thin on this Saturday night, so there were plenty of staff on hand. In an area with tons of Latin food choices, we depend on the consistent flavor and service here. Bueno!

This Papi's looks good, but tastes only "ok"…read more We were tired on a Sunday early-evening, (Jun 2026), and the staff of the Big Papi's location in Hagerstown seemed unmotivated, maybe worn out from towards the end of their day. We got a birria taco, a rockfish taco, a vegetarian burrito, and a guacamole. The fresh-made guac was quite good! Creamy, fresh, and generous. The Birria taco was good. Flavorful and tender and generous. But inexplicably they did not include a side of consommé sauce for dipping. Lots-of-sauce is a key part of a messy juicy birria taco. That would have just been a disappointment. But the fried rockfish taco, meh. It tasted fresh, but it tasted like something had burned in the oil. The fish seemed too chewy, overdone. The coating was overly-hard. The bean and rice burrito was also meh. The dull rice seemed too chewy, either overdone or cooked until it was too dry. And there were only a small amount of black beans, and no added veggies, so there was little flavor. Overall, we were disappointed in the Big Papi's location in Hagerstown. For over $35, we only liked $8 of the food. What was good, was very good. Maybe they were just having a bad evening. We might try Big Papi's again, but probably not this location.

Overall would come back.

Our server barely understood English, and even simple questions turned into a whole situation. I asked FOUR separate times whether the spicy salsa was free. I literally said, "If it's free, I'll take it. If not, never mind." The server kept saying yes, it was free... so we ate it. Then the check comes out with a $3.99 charge for the salsa When I asked why it was charged after being told multiple times it was free, the server still kept saying "free" while staring at the receipt. At that point I had to ask for the manager because we were clearly not communicating. The manager said there was a "language barrier issue," BUT because we already ate it, we still had to pay for it. That part honestly blew my mind. If I asked about the price four times before ordering, clearly the whole point was that I didn't want it if it cost extra What made it worse was the attitude. The server never apologized once and the manager acted super confident like this was somehow normal. And honestly... the food wasn't even worth the drama. Everything was ridiculously salty, and the salsa tasted like someone mixed it with water. Cool interior. Terrible experience. Definitely not coming back.
