I got the sushi boat for $60 and hot sake and everything was delicious. The manager was very hospitable and we even got a complimentary appetizer. I love hibachi grill restaurants like this . I moved here worried I'd never get the same experience I did in El Paso . Boy was I wrong ! The fried rice is absolutely amazing , the chefs cook the streak perfectly and the chicken is never dry . Waitresses/waiters are always around . We originally ordered the lunch menu 2 rolls for $10 but then we wanted another roll because we were still hungry and they let us switch our order to the 3 for $14 lunch special. The computer messed up our order somehow so we got a free roll on the house. My bro and I decided to take our mom here for dinner tonight. The food is comparable to what Hawai'i has to offer. Most amazing restaurant I have been to in Missouri so far. There's a cool ambiance, with perfect lighting. As soon as my wife and I sat down we put our drink orders in and were surprised when we got hot towels to wash our hands before we ate. With it being cold outside when we went, this was an amazing little perk. We ordered miso soup, two tuna rolls, the tiger roll, and the dragon roll, and hot tea. Finally a fine dining experience in St. Bob!!! We have eaten there 7 times for the hibachi, twice for sushi and once for lunch takeout. The sushi and sashimi are always fast fresh n scrumptious. The ambiance is awesome. This restaurant is where Chopsticks used to be. You wouldn't recognize the place. Extremely well decorated in a comfortable modern motive. The hibachi chefs are friendly skilled and entertaining. Austin stands out for his combination of skills and cooking ability. The food is reasonably priced for what you get, comparable to hibachi restaurants in larger cities. There is a wait time as the staff tries to fill each table fully and to pre heat the grill. The environment was extremely clean and new looking. I had a shrimp roll for an appetizer and it was good. The lunch chicken and steak was incredible. The portion size was a little small compared to other Japanese steakhouses I have been to but I will credit that to being a lunch portion. The food taste was one of the best. 1st the Bad: I had a reservation for 7 PM. I wasn't seated until about 8 PM. They kept seating walk-ins before me. It seemed like the system was broken. We were compensated with a free alcoholic beverage. The older bartender lady had an attitude problem. The younger one was very nice and had great humor. Now the good: The food is great and so is the atmosphere. The drinks were delicious and we had a pretty good time. Through the whole fiasco, the hostess kept her cool. When you are in the Midwest, you usually assume any sushi place you find will not be that great. Ichiban is definitely the exception to that rule. Service: Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a gentleman who asked us where we would like to eat. After telling him that we wanted to eat in the restaurant and not in the hibachi, the hostess arrived. After the two of them had a very noticeable argument about where we were sitting and the menu, the hostess took us to our seats. The waitress was very friendly and visited us regularly to check on us. Food: After arriving at our seats, we ordered the potstickers (fried) and our drinks. The fried dumplings had a somewhat foul taste, like they had been fried on a grill that had something burned on it. We then ordered a tiger roll. The sushi was very tasty and fresh. I then ordered the land and sea (lobster and filet mignon) with hibachi noodles and sautéed mushrooms, I ordered my filet medium cooked as most restaurants undertook steaks, so I expected medium rare. The miso soup was delicious. The hibachi noodles and mushrooms were cooked perfectly. The filet came out so rare that they might as well just threw it on my plate right out of the package. The lobster also tasted somewhat undercooked. Overall, this place is average. Had we not had to witness the unprofessional argument between the two employees and the food had been cooked properly, I would have given them the fourth star, putting them above average. read more

I give my review after visiting this establishment twice. The first time, we had sushi only and it was normal sushi. Nothing amazing and of course with the sushi price. What leads me to the 3 star review is the hibachi service. We decided to take my parents out for dinner while they were here visiting. Everything went great until we started receiving our food from the chef in front of us. He gave my parents the completely wrong food. He said he asked before the meal, but the place is loud and since we have been to so many hibachi places when they heard steak they just said yes. Apparently our waitress couldn't hear either and wrote down the wrong food. When the chef started handing out the rice he gave myself and my dad barely any rice. It didn't even cover a quarter of the plate. Then another group at our table had told the chef that their child doesn't eat rice after he put some in his plate. He then took the remainder of the rice that was left and instead of seeing who needed more, he put it in this child's plate who doesn't eat rice. Sorry, but do you see something wrong here? Wrong food and crazy portions. I think this establishment needs to do a little training. Not only was the chef not paying attention to what he handed out, but he looked like he hated his job. So quite you couldn't hear him and not really interacting with anyone. I saw a few other tables laughing and having a nice interact with their chefs, so I feel it may just be this one guy. Kind of sad. I almost spoke to the manager about the issues, but felt it would just be ignored based on the fact our plates were already eaten and my parents didn't want to sit there and deal with it. read more
