All the food on the steak and shrimp hibachi combo was good but I can't speak highly of the waitress. The noodle was more sweet than having a garlic taste and kind of mushy. The Hibachi chef for some reason didn't want to give me his name to leave a review so I can't give that but his cooking was very good. His name is Berlis. I highly recommend him as your chef if you stop here. This table server name Tre was helpful and had a great personality our waitress changed her personality when she found out I was a yelper but at that point her attitude spoke for itself. This is a casual ambiance with nice traditional setting. The rating would've been different if the waitress wasn't as not friendly as she was. read more

We're out here visiting during a Fort Leonard Wood graduation and came here as a party of five for dinner. We sat at a teppan table. Don't let the strip mall vibe deter you. The restaurant is definitely more attractive inside than outside. When you walk in, it's welcoming and lovely. The service was great, the food is really good, the meat was perfectly cooked, which isn't always easy when you have everyone ordering temps from rare all the way to medium well, and the chef was very entertaining. read more

One of two sushi joints in town, finally had an opportunity to visit. Plenty of parking lot, walk in and the hostess will ask you if you want a table or hibachi - I asked for a table. Reviewed the menu and with the following items: - one order of Spicy Tuna - Sushi & Sashimi Combo- comes with 5 ps of sushi ,10 ps of sashimi and spicy crab roll, soup and salad is included. The sashimi was a lot better than what I had expected, given that we are in middle of nowhere in Missouri. Love the way they presented the fish on top of ice and in a bowl. Spicy tuna - was not a fan. They added the crunch pieces, which to be, it's only used so you use less tuna fillings. This was the same with the spicy carb roll. I didn't really get to taste the tuna or the carb in the rolls, the crunch over powered the rolls. Miso soup needed more flavor. Its was very bland, they can add more miso to give it a better seasoning. Salad - standard salad, nothing to write home about The service was great, the waitress checked-in often. They need to clean their soy sauce bottles, the bottle neck area was very sticky. Overall, decent sushi in middle of nowhere. read more

Wow! Party of 7 showing up with no reservation seating in mins. Our waiter, James, was fabulous! Everyone had a different drink, different meal and different rolls. He never wrote anything down, everything was delivered correctly! The food was fabulous, everything was perfect. Service was top notch!! Highly recommend eating here for lunch. Recommend to make reservations if you would like to sit around the actual grill and have to entire experience. We decided to sit at a regular table instead of waiting for grill seating. read more

A few takeaways, the sushi was phenomenal and the portion sizes were very good unless you don't like eating a good amount of food. The service was fantastic and my server was James, guy is pretty awesome when it comes to helping you decide because I had a few questions on what rolls were most popular/ what he would recommend. The ambiance/ vibe were very quiet and peaceful but that will always depend on who else is dinning there but I got there before any rush of people so i definitely recommend to go around 4 or 5 pm. Being derprived of sushi for 5 months at military training left me in some type of mood. A mood where I was kinda dying for sushi on my one and only family day. Expect a lot of graduating soldiers here if you are attending a family day and decided to get sushi for lunch or dinner here at Ichiban. Lucky for me, Ichiban was right outside that place I called home for 5 months; Fort Leonard Wood. I was able to obtain quality sushi, some hibachi lunch and my favorite green tea. Everything was really good. Service was quick and friendly. This place felt, looked and is a Japanese Restaurant, a good feeling after 5 months of no eating out. Made me feel at home. Pretty good food and includes sushi and hibachi in the back of the restaurant. We started off with the Beef Negimaki which had great flavor but it did have a lot of sauce that they were sitting on. We had the Alligator Roll, a Deep Sea Bomb Roll, a Futomaki Roll, and a Tiger Roll. All were really good and good portions for the price. Lovely sushi place. Friendly staff. Exemplary sushi rolls. We enjoyed our cocktails: Lemon Drop and Lime In the Coconut. The sushi rolls were SUPERCALLIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS! My friends ordered the King Sushi Roll, Shrimp Hibatchi, and the Rainbow Sushi Roll. I had the Yaki Beef sushi Roll. Medium rare angus steak, crab, onion, and avocado with spicy crunch tuna with Chef's special sauce. The rare steak was perfectly cooked. I love my steak medium rare yet the rare steak was absolutely spectacular. I ordered a Salmon Roe / Ikura Sashimi and it was unique in flavor and texture. The Deep Sea Bomb Roll has eel, avocado, soft shell crab, and cream cheese. It was the surprise dish of the day. I would definitely come back here...with a bigger stomach and appetite. read more

Think of every hibachi you've ever been to that was really GREAT.... And that's not gonna happen here. Yum yum sauce is thinned out the tuna roll was canned tuna oh my..let's continue... Immediately after veggies and eggs hit grill the waitress realized the cook was at the wrong table. Was closed when I arrived. On yelp it said the business was open and when I got there, there was a note on the door saying they were closed because of the storm. Google also showed they're open. Should've considered updating their business hours so people don't waste their time. read more

Came in with my sister, for a sorry, i didnt buy you anything for Christmas. We had Damian, he was polite and attentive. Got the sashimi sampler, it was ok, not too big on sashimi. We also got the love boat for 2. Chef selection on the sushi and you get to pick 2 rolls. Also came with the exact same sashimi selection as the appetizer. That kinda sucked. Dont think id order the boat again, the sushi wasnt at all what i normally get. Had to order 4 smoked salmon and 4 unagi. By the time it came out I was full. Unagi was a bit mushy, ended up feeding that to my dogs. read more

Ichiban at the Main PX food court on Fort Leonard Wood, MO, has an amazing 3-meat (protein) dinner that is delicious-- lrg enough portion for me (old lady) to have 1/2 for lunch and 1/2 for supper. Young guys working grill and buffet line are pleasant and service was timely (I am retired, so not in a hurry, but they hustled to deliver chow to our waiting military Warriors on their lunch break). read more

Hate to leave this review, however .... I was excited to eat here since they have reopened. Went on Valentine's Day so they were busy. Got seated and placed our order, on hibachi side. Ordered a crab cream cheese roll and my husband and I both had scallops and added noodles. The scallops were not done. Didn't even eat the noodles because they were soooo salty and came last. Veggies were either raw or burned. The waiter never came back and refilled anyone's water. I did get a refill of sweet tea which was so sweet I would never order again. I wanted a water instead but the waiter never came back except to drop off a tea I didn't want. At the end of the meal after the chef left I got my crab roll. And the waiter asked if I wanted a box! Well duh! Paid $74 and it wasn't worth $30. And I got charged for the roll. Management had better get a grip on things because this wasn't the ichabon I remember. read more

I wish I could write a better review, but my experience as a first time visitor to this restaurant wasn't that great unfortunately. I have been to many hibachi places in several states and this one is the first one that I had to wait 45 minutes until my food came out, after the rest of my family was already done eating. I asked specifically at the time of booking of the reservation, if it is ok to order sushi at the hibachi table, as my family members wanted to get the hibachi experience and I wanted sushi. After 45 minutes and when all guest at the hibachi table were already done eating, I finally got my sushi (nothing special, just salmon roles). When I asked the waitress why it took so long, she replied that we should have chosen to sit at a dining table instead of the hibachi table. I fail to see why my sushi order should get delayed because we sit at the hibachi table. Our whole party got their order taken at the same time, so why would it matter where we sit. I get the impression that they are trying to discourage anyone from ordering other food at the hibachi table, even though their house rules require that only 2 people from a party need to order hibachi. If we would follow the waitresses' advice, we would have to split up as a family next time, just so we can all enjoy good food in a timely manner, which is ridiculous and poor hospitality. Awesome hibachi restaurant! We had a party so we were seated in the party room - really cool experience! The cooks made all the food in front of us. I had the salmon (plus fried rice) and it was absolutely delicious. The chefs also interacted with our party too - flipping food into our mouths and squirting alcohol in people's mouth. We came to Fort Leonard Wood over Thanksgiving werk to watch my brothers bootcamp graduation. This is by far the best spot in the area. If you are coming to this area I would highly recommend this restaurant over anything else. It's very clean and probably the healthiest option in the area. They have a section by the bar and sushi bar for sushi dining or they do hibachi. If you sit in the hibachi section you have to order at least two hibachi dinners from the restaurant. The first things we ordered were cream cheese rangoons, miso soups and salads that go with our hibachi dinners and I ordered a Wakame salad. I had a beautifully presented Wakame salad which is a seaweed salad. The server brought our appetizers within 15 minutes of being there. I was very impressed with the service at this restaurant! Other than that, we ordered four hibachi dinners two with steak, one with shrimp and I ordered chicken and shrimp. The meat was delicious and perfectly sautéed. I loved the hibachi chef! He made it super fun and even gave my parents free sake shots! By far the best hibachi I have ever had! My parents also ordered a few of the tropical alcoholic drinks and said they were made great! read more

Visited on Fourth of July! This was one of the few places open for dinner in Saint Robert and was pretty packed while also understaffed. The service was pretty slow but what else could we expect on a holiday! I got sushi and my partner got the steak and shrimp hibachi dinner. The "show" was incredibly well done, and the food was made perfectly. The atmosphere was pleasant. It wasn't so loud, as you could still converse with your party. Ichiban is one of my favorites locally--one of the few restaurants that provide multiple eating styles. On one end, you have sushi; on the other, there's the hibachi. If sushi is your thing, it is tasty but may be overpriced depending on who you ask. If you desire hibachi, I suggest making a reservation in advance as it is often packed. Reservations for seven people and they tried to seat us with another party of six. When we asked to be moved due to crowding, the hostess said "well, we seat 10 there all the time" in a matter of fact tone. Well miss hostess......13 is more than 10. If you can't seat us at the open table that we walked past on the way to your crowed area, we will find another restaurant. Cramming people around the hibachi grills like cattle in a feedlot, isn't my idea of a good time. Used to come by here a couple times a month, but we won't be back! read more

For lunch on a sunny Wednesday we went to Ichiban for a grad school graduation celebration, Melinda took great care of us; service and food were awesome. For lunch, I tried the sushi bento box and it was presented nicely and more than enough food. My family got different rolls (sweet potato, veggie, mango roll, Tiger, Dancing, etc- all delicious) and steak hibachi. There is a wide variety of rolls and menu options, all within a range of reasonable prices. The dark atmosphere sets a romantic tone, I felt like a was in a swanky city restaurant.
