We enjoyed our visit here! Everyone really liked their food. It wasn't busy in the least, which I found interesting. Although we did go for lunch during the weekday. I ordered a few rolls. Others got the hibachi. We opted not to sit at the hibachi table. I enjoyed all the rolls. One of them was my absolute favorite, but I can't remember the names of the rolls. If I was ever in the area, I'd definitely return for some sushi. read more

For lunch on a sunny Wednesday we went to Ichiban for a grad school graduation celebration, Melinda took great care of us; service and food were awesome. For lunch, I tried the sushi bento box and it was presented nicely and more than enough food. My family got different rolls (sweet potato, veggie, mango roll, Tiger, Dancing, etc- all delicious) and steak hibachi. There is a wide variety of rolls and menu options, all within a range of reasonable prices. The dark atmosphere sets a romantic tone, I felt like a was in a swanky city restaurant. Ichiban is clean and contemporary with up to date decorations, even the bathrooms are nicely decorated. All in all, Ichiban is good. read more

Ichiban is one of my favorites locally--one of the few restaurants that provide multiple eating styles. On one end, you have sushi; on the other, there's the hibachi. If sushi is your thing, it is tasty but may be overpriced depending on who you ask. If you desire hibachi, I suggest making a reservation in advance as it is often packed. Service is always superb, the staff is super friendly and accommodating. read more

"Our cups runneth over." -Recipient of the infamous sake squirt bottle The only hibachi/sushi bar I have ever been to where the chef would periodically shoot sake into our mouths as he spun eggs and stir fried the shit out of our food. That man was a freaking food scientist up in there! The inside is huge! Half of it is what reminds me of a blue themed dive bar, while the other resembles a traditional hibachi style restaurant. SUSHI/SASHIMI: I recommend their Dragon Rolls to friends who aren't fond of raw fish. However, this place has some surprisingly good sashimi (especially since Missouri is in the middle of nowhere). Yellowtail was delicious, but I regret not asking if they had Mackeral sashimi. If their Mackeral is solid, the rest is definitely amazing. Also if you want to learn how to use chopsticks, this place provides plastic chopstick trainers FOR FREE! My mind was blown! HIBACHI: Their meat selection and freshness of vegetables was on point. What really surprised me was how delicious their fried rice was! I cook a lot of Asian food, and you need to know that strong sides can either make or break grilled meats. Just a subtle shift in the flavor of fried rice can leave your taste buds ready or overwhelmed when biting into your main meat dish. Hats off to the chefs there for appreciating the basics! If you're treating a friend or picking up the tab on a date, your wallet is gonna hurt if you order their sushi/sashimi. Good spot for Hibachi Grill. Whether you want to be around the hibachi grill where the chef cooks, you can also sit in the booth and receive your food. However, it is a little pricey and can add up quickly. The menu has a lot to offer, different drinks, and the chef particular always interesting. read more

This is my go to spot for Sushi. From the Spicy Tokyo Roll to the spicy Kimchee and Shrimp Soup I tear it up. The atmosphere is great, the service is polite and attentive. The bar drinks are on point. You can go to the quiet regular side for a more private meal or to the more funny and entertaining Hibachi side. Regardless of how you like it, stop here and give it a go. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more

Service was great and food was alright I was just very surprised that everything piece of these "sushi rolls" had Panko or tempura type flake/ crumbs in and on literally everything...I've never had so much filler in my food besides crab cakes. Just a fair warning for those who think this is normal sushi they have a little crunchy twist of it. Their Habachi side is always bomb tho! Still such a great places to eat! read more

We came but for dinner while in Ft. Leanordwood. While leary of seafood in the middle of the United States, it was nice to know they get fresh fish every other day. I have the Pink Lady and the Saint Robert Roll, and the mouchi. All were amazing and I was very pleased. I will definitely come back while here. The bartender was informative and helpful when ordering and the rest of the staff I encountered were very nice. The atmosphere was perfect for a sushi place. I don't know where to start....me and the family live in LA and we are spoiled with sushi and such but this place tops it all of. Best sushi, atmosphere and service I ever had in a sushi restaurant. And the weird thing is, they are no even close to the ocean. Best sushi by far. You can taste quality. Service is super professional and accommodating. Amazing place for hibachi and sushi! The only pitfall, is plan to spend money if you dine here. BUT, you get what you pay for so I am not too upset of the heavy bill. I cleaned my plate, had the shrimp hibachi. The soup, salad, and veggies were amazing also. Offers great drink selection and the environment is totally five star rating. Lighting looks like a downtown night club, so it feels classy upon entry. The service was nice. Taste great! read more

Well it happened. St. Robert finally has a restaurant that I'll gladly give feedback on. Ichiban, opened on November 3, 2015 and thank god it did. I stopped in and was seated promptly by nice hostess, the waitstaff was attentive and the chef, Jason, was super funny and kept the mood light. The meal Jason prepared was very tasty and cooked perfectly to order - hibachi style!!!!! I will be definitely going back to check out the sushi bar and the alcohol bar too. Lol. Note: you cannot give more to your chef then the waitress. When I went to pay I inquired about how the tip would be broken out and was told it is split 50/50. I wish we had a way to separate out tips for the waitstaff and chef. I gave cash to the chef but then realized he may not be able too all of it. I tipped the waitress a quite a bit too but the chef really made the meal and quite literally. read more

Tucked away in an older strip mall, the place has been nicely remodeled and is spacious and comfortable. The Food: We started with a calamari appetizer. Tempura batter was fairly crisp and the squid reasonably tender. The sweet/sour sauce had a nice bite. We both had filet and lobster hibachi grilled entrée. Dinner came with a broth soup (interestingly, beef broth), a side salad with a creamy ginger dressing, a medley of grilled vegetables (carrots, broccoli, squash, mushrooms and onions) and fried rice (she had fried noodles). The filet and lobster were good, but not outstanding ... medium rare meat grilled a little too long (not really seared fast), had no pink and was a little chewy for tenderloin beef ... the lobster, although cut in pieces when grilled (as expected) the pieces were on the small side and, like the filet, not as tender as we prefer. Not bad mind you, but not exceptional. Positives: Neat and clean. We were promptly served on a Sunday evening with a moderate size dinner crown already in place. (Tip: Expect a few minutes wait to sit at the ever popular hibachi grill.) Staff was very prompt, polite and professional. Food presentation was well above average. お絞り (o-shibori i.e. hot, wet towels) delivered to the table upon being seated ... very nice. Several varieties of sake to from which to choose. Duck spoons were made of ceramic (not plastic). Many young families with kids at the hibachi grills (we saw four grills) who were having a very good time with the theatrics! Minuses: Prices are pretty high. Twenty-eight bucks apiece for the main course. This is about eight bucks more than a petite sirloin and lobster tail at Ruby Tuesday, and the food quality was not appreciably better. Also, we felt very rushed. (We know, it's a fine line between good service and rushed service.) Appetizer was delivered promptly at which time the entrée order was taken. Salad and soup arrived at the table before two bites of the appetizer had been taken. Entrées arrived moments later. What to eat first? What to let get cold? This is not a major upset (better than tardy or neglectful service, and maybe it is related to the fact that the place caters to many young military families with more energy and less time than we have). 箸 (hashi i.e. chopsticks) had to be requested ... forks were on the table. Bottom line, not bad for a Midwestern town near a military base, but not exceptional. The prices in comparison to food quality hold this review down to three stars. read more
