My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. We both got pasta dishes. I got the "seafood pasta" and my wife got the "shrimp pasta carbonara". Both were very salty. The seafood was great quality. The pasta was al dente. They didn't remove the tip of the shrimp tails (but that was okay). The other thing we noticed is we didn't get any garlic bread or breadsticks. Their entrees on their menu are served with a vegetable and potato and some include bread. Even Applebees includes a garlic bread stick. I expected more from a "high end restaurant". Extensive food & drink menus focused on seafood, but they also have steaks, chicken, tacos and chicken. My wife had the chicken club(which was huge), and she said it was tasty. I've been traveling through Rolla every month. In doing so, I've taken the opportunity to do some exploring and reconnaissance for my Yelp friends. This spot came highly recommended by fellow Yelpers and locals alike. I was warmly welcomed in and promptly seated. I had made a reservation since I visited on a Friday night. If you do book ahead, do yourself a favor and ask to have Michael as your server. He was friendly and professional. Doting, but not overly so. Just the right amount of care and attention. All his tables were treated with the same level of attention. I was dining alone and did not have the opportunity to sample as many things as I would have liked. The cocktail list was fairly impressive. There's the standard fare, along with some crafted drinks. I also recognized some old time favorites. The wine list is equally boastful of several great options. As I sat enjoying my cocktail, I took in the vibe of the dining room. The place as a whole, gives a relaxed atmosphere. For my selections I went with the crab dip as a starter and an 8oz filet for my entree. The crab dip is found in a few items on the menu. I'm a purist and wanted to make sure it was worthy of being featured in several other dishes. Well, I was definitely not disappointed. I feel like this is someone's grandmother's recipe. Rich and creamy and perfect with the toast. I would prefer to leave the cheese topping off next time I visit. The dish is amazing without it. For my meal, I'm actually going to brag about the sides first. I chose glazed carrots and goat cheese mashed potatoes. Look, I don't normally eat cooked carrots. Something about the description piqued my curiosity. They were rich and buttery with such amazing flavors. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of texture. I've never met a potato I didn't like, but these were incredible. Rich and creamy and paired perfectly with the beautifully cooked sirloin. For the record, I cleared my entire plate. This was such a delicious experience for me. I think many places outside of the larger cities don't get their due. This team is providing top notch service and the kitchen is serving high quality food. I came here once with my boyfriend, and we both left amazed. For months, we dreamed of their bronzed Mahi-Mahi, practically salivating at the thought of that delicious fish. So buttery, so flavorful. We came back for a second date night and they were, unfortunately, out of our beloved mahi . Many tears were wept that night. Do not fret, this just means we will come again in search of our new favorite dish. We have no reason not to return! The staff are always courteous and we have never had to wait for a table. They offer many different foods, from burgers to seafood! They have a great mocktail menu, and I'm sure their alcoholic beverages are just as good. We did Valentine's Day dinner here and it was WONDERFUL! This is a great place for date night.

My wife and I first shared seared tuna (which was delicious) and then we shared the grill seafood plate. The were two scallops, five schrimps and a bit of cod. Driving back home my wife told me: "Did they forget the vegetables"? Indeed they did. Neither the server nor the cook realized they were missing something!!!!!! As usual the food and service were great . I sat at the bar last night. Taylor was the bartender she was fabulous. I have Alpha gal and cannot eat meat, and they could not have been more accommodating about making my favorite, their shrimp and grits without bacon. A man who I assume was the owner checked to make sure I could eat dairy.. i'm usually not a pain in the ass, but I just love their shrimp and grits and they couldn't have been nicer about it. We also had the fish special , grouper . It was so good and fresh. I really recommend this restaurant. The food is fabulous and it's NOT your run of the mill , good entree okay sides . This place is adorable downtown Rolla. I would say the food is pretty average along with the service. Nothing to write home about but probably one of the better places in town. I wish I would've loved it. I'm a true foodie and I've been to several Michelin star restaurants and am a gourmet chef. I don't often get to choose restaurants without having to take someone else's tastes into account. Searching all the great restaurants around here, I sorted their reviews by date. Unfortunately, 2023 reviews were consistently rough for most of the other places I looked at here. Originally tried Salt + Water 4-5 years ago. I think I had the shrimp and grits. The first night I came in, I ordered the portobello burger, but they were out of portobello's. My server, Makayla, asked if it would be okay to have a mixed variety of mushrooms instead. YES PLEASE. It was amazing. The burger was served in a basket, but she brought me a plate so I could cut it up, which was perfect. The pepper aioli was creamy and amazing, the Brie was just the right amount, and the mushrooms were sooo good. I had to try the sweet and spicy shrimp, and got the half order for "dessert". Pretty darned good. I came back the next night, intending to order the poke nachos, but the server (I don't recall her name, sorry, she was wonderful, too) told me Wagyu steak was a special tonight, so I ordered that medium rare. I got vegetables instead of the smashed potatoes with it. I missed the part where it was a 14oz steak, so it was much larger than expected. I've been low on iron recently and figured I could use some red meat. Nice and tender. The green beans could've used a little salt or flavor in the dressing, but they were good. And the garlic Parmesan dressing is just delicious. I had leftovers, needless to say. Best breakfast ever. My final night, I tried the poke nachos. Just as good as the other reviewers said. Warm crispy wontons with cool cubes of tasty tuna on top, with crunchy cabbage and the creamy sauce and oyster sauce and scallions on top. Different textures and flavors. Makayla was my server again and asked if I liked bourbon and bananas... sure! She said they put it on NY style cheesecake (which I don't like) or ice cream (which I do), so I went for it. ZOMG. I don't care for sweets, but that sauce was amazing. It reminded me of Heavy Metal Ice Cream's "Bacon Butter Pecan" special flavor. I suggested a little salty crispy bacon would've made that dessert over the moon good. Lol. Free street parking was easy. All of the employees were professional and friendly and engaging, which means impeccable service in my book. Ambiance was nice. And? There's a 5' tall model of Minas Tirith in the shop window across the street. What more could you ask for? If I'm back in town again, this will definitely be my first (and last) stop. read more

Short answer: this place is very good and we liked it. I'm rooting for them. Long answer: this place is very good here's why - Driving back west after the eclipse, we wanted a place to get a good meal and let the traffic clear up a bit. Scouting ahead on Yelp and looking at menus from three years ago, this seemed like a great fit. Interesting food, solid wine list, lots of enthusiastic reviews. With the pandemic disruption and aftermath prices will no doubt be a bit higher, but this seems great and it's Rolla, not Vail. Yelp talks about food, service, and ambiance as components of a review, and I think it's worth noting one more: value. We all have limited time and money, does the price point deliver what it should? And that became the question of the night. Like with cocktails. It seems like they've updated their bar program to include more craft cocktails, which is good... but now the old fashioned has gone from $6 in 2019 to a market price situation where it's $14? $17? The menu on their website doesn't say, and looking at the cocktails there vs the paper menu we saw in person they've either brought the prices down in the past month or they haven't updated them to their new level. It was off-putting. On the one hand I get it, hopefully that helps them pay their staff well. But on another I know these pour costs and it doesn't add up to me. Nineteen dollars for a Paper Plane feels awfully aggressive. Fortunately, they had other options. Their Spanish red was delicious, and $7 a glass. I promise I'm not going to do this for every menu item, the cocktail thing just really threw me. We shared two dishes - The poke nachos were a fun idea, and they executed well - tasty, nice combination of flavors. We had a little trouble figuring out how to attack the dish, it was a nice presentation but I was worried about knocking things over and making a mess on the table. Jenga flashbacks. You will probably do better than me, but be prepared - if you're on a first date situation, make sure they're cool in that elegant but down to earth way and you can laugh together. Worst case, more poke for you. Either way, we recommend it. We also got the fish and chips, and they were okay. Fine. Not spectacular. Bit oily, but the fish itself was good. But there was not much of it, and at $26 I'm left wondering how we arrived here. At that price point I'd expect more, or better, or both. And looking online at their menu, it's not even listed so I'm wondering if this was all a post-eclipse hallucination. (Which is a possibility because we were on a bit of a high, totality is an astonishing experience.) Service was on point, the team seemed sharp. Our server was crisp and professional. Good decor and atmosphere. Seems like a solid gastropub vibe. But not more than that. Or less - they're doing so many great things here. The only real complaint is the price points. Those cocktails sent me into a spiral of self-doubt questioning if I'm turning into one of those old people I grew up around who would routinely declaim "Back in my day, you could get a cup of coffee for a quarter! And a dollar used to cost a nickel!" Is that me now? Here I am in this restaurant wondering if this is the moment I realize that life has already washed past me and I'm just not hip to the way things work now. But then I remember: we travel a lot and I don't usually see things this high except in much more expensive cities - I was so thrown I looked up some neighborhood bars in NYC and yeah this would fit right in there. I'm sure in a few years this will all sound quaint and someone will say "bro a happy hour old fashioned is $25 now lol" and to that I say "okay but you're in the future and I'm not the one reading super old yelp reviews, nerd." So I want to emphasize again I like this place and want them to succeed. Lots of respect for what they're doing, and I think a better calibrated match on value and price point would easily push them to 5 stars. read more

But let's be honest: compared to even mid-tier restaurants in St. Louis, Kansas City, or any real food city, it's mediocre at best. The food is... fine. Not terrible, not great--just fine. The menu tries to be upscale (seared scallops, duck confit, craft cocktails), but execution often falls short. Dishes are inconsistently seasoned, proteins are sometimes overcooked, and the flavors rarely wow. One Yelp reviewer put it well: "It's like someone read about fine dining but never actually experienced it." Another noted, "For the price, I expected better than glorified Applebee's quality." Had the fried mushrooms which were delicious and a very generous portion. Then had the fried clams, also a generous portion, and was totally blown away. Okay, this place is AWESOME! Had reservations on a Saturday evening, for dinner after watching a play at the local theater. I think it's good that we made the reservations, as they were doin' a pretty brisk business the whole time we were there. One thing I haven't seen in FOREVAH is that they opened before their posted opening time because they were prepped and ready. Unusual! I had the Bronzed Cobia because I'd never heard of that fish before. Let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS! The green beans were outstanding and the corn was tasty too (they let me swap my potato pick for a 2nd vegetable). All the food at the table was cooked to perfection. We shared fried pickles for an appetizer and a piece of cheesecake for dessert and they didn't disappoint. Service was great and I believe the prices were reasonable, considering the quality of the food and service. My husband and I went here for the first time while vacationing. We had high hopes of having a great dining experience and giving it a solid five. We did have a very good waitress, and we would clearly give her a five 5 and the atmosphere was very good also and we would give that a five 5, however, unfortunately, we would give our food a three 3. My husband had the shrimp scampi and he would rate that a three. He said the pasta was perfectly cooked, the cream sauce was delightful, however, the shrimp were overcooked and tasted like they'd been frozen. I had the Mahi Mahi with some kind of potatoes and I did not find it appetizing at all. I'm not sure what kind of seasoning they put on the fish and to me, the potatoes were nothing to write home to mom about, and with that I was disappointed with the food. We asked about bread and they told us we would have to purchase it and so we did, but neither one of us found that too yummy too our tummy either. The tuna in the tuna appetizer did seem well prepared and that was our favorite thing food-wise. Overall, the experience outside of the staff and the atmosphere was at best a three 3. My partner and I shared an order of sweet and spicy shrimp, and an order of tuna poke nachos. They were both incredible. I had the special, halibut over squid ink pasta. It was so delicious. My partner had the mushroom and scallop pasta, which was very tasty. Portions are a great size. Pasta cooked perfectly. Proteins wonderfully done. Desserts were a brownie sundae and raspberry cheesecake. The brownie was a little dry but it was still a great dessert. The cheesecake was great. Outstanding overall food and service. In town to visit S&T and this looked good. They actually knew how to make a Vesper. The blue cheese wedge was excellent. This was a nice find! We decided to take our chances on a Friday night walk in and we're happy to take seats at the bar. The service was prompt, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The decor is very nice and we started with a few drinks. Had the best Long Island Ice tea I've ever had and were off to a good start. Been trying to lose weight so we didn't go all out with Apps unfortunately because they sounded really well thought out and tasty. I ended up getting the Tuna steak club with wasabi mayo. really really tasty. I'd gladly have it again! Wifey had a really nice white wine and got shrimp tacos and she was happy as well. We were pleasantly surprised at finding this place. The menu and atmosphere is upscale but we didn't feel out of place in nice looking summer clothing.
