Beautiful spot, but $500 fine-dining prices with diner-level execution. Where to start. We've been coming here by boat for years. Experiences have always had up-and-down moments, but this time was disappointing because I really wanted it to be great. It just wasn't. The Good: The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the waterfront ambiance is spot on. It's clearly the place to be at the lake--so good job on the venue. The Service & Atmosphere: Service was adequate, but far from fine dining. If you're charging premium prices, the service model needs to match. Having random runners drop food at the table without knowing who ordered what is diner or casual Mexican restaurant service, not an elegant dining experience. The new manager stopped by twice--a nice touch, until we actually provided constructive feedback. Instead of offering a remedy, he offered excuses about being new and didn't handle criticism well. The Food: Apps (Deviled Eggs & Tuna): Both looked like they'd been plated earlier in the day--they had an unappetizing "sheen" to them that made them look leftover rather than fresh. The flavor on the eggs was completely muted, and the tuna was equally lusterless. Salads: We split the Caesar, and our friends had the wedge. They were served without any offer of fresh pepper. When we flagged down a staff member, they brought out cheap grocery-store salt and pepper grinders. Later, we were told the new chef prefers not to offer pepper on the table. With all due respect to the chef: that's the guest's choice, not yours. (Side note: the wedge was tasty, but oddly wasn't actually cut into a wedge). Mains: The ladies had the Sea Bass--the dish that originally put this place on the map. It was okay, but not as good as it used to be; the new Asian flair and bowl presentation take away from what used to make it the star of the show. The pork chop was good and thoroughly enjoyed. My lasagna had a great portion size and good base flavor, but it was dry as jerky with practically zero sauce. The Verdict: The restaurant will continue to thrive simply because of its location and the lack of competing fine-dining options on the water. But when you're dropping $500 on dinner, you expect accountability and an outstanding meal. We won't be back anytime soon. read more

We stopped in for dinner and sat on the patio with. Beautiful view of the lake. Friendly server brought me a Smoked Pig, smoked manhattan that was very good. We had a very nice crab cake appetizer with a crispy crust and slaw. My prime ribeye was perfectly done with a tasty white sauce and sautéed onions with carrots and potato cake with a crispy crust. Reserve has upped there place since I was last here. Very comprehensive updated wine list and liquor list. My sea bass was cooked perfect, rice was a bit dry but overall nicely prepared. Had the cornbread side, was good but a bit dry and "dense". The Caesar salad was done perfectly, no complaints here. The gooey butter with vanilla ice cream was good, but didn't blow me away. read more

This place is super solid - surprisingly so, we had a wonderful dinner here and excellent service. it started a bit rocky bc there was some misunderstanding and no one came to greet us or speak to us for about 15-20 minutes. My husband went to the host stand to say something and a server overheard and immediately came and paid wonderful attention to us after that and they gave us a free appetizer to make up for it which the manager delivered himself with another apology. All good. Handled expertly and the meal was 5 stars afterwards. We started with the Whipped Feta And Balsamic Roasted Strawberries which was different and really good and light. My husband ordered for his entree the Charred Double Cut Pork Loin for about $32 served with elote corn with bacon roasted potatoes. It was SO delicious - for real, probably the best pork loin I've ever had and the corn was fabulous. I had the Chilean Sea bass Chilean Sea Bass for $50 with tomatoes and orzo in saffron tomato broth. It was a huge portion of sea bass Coffee was good and we ordered a chocolate dessert mousse pie to go which was AMAZING. The food was all wonderful, service was superb and the view and location was gorgeous. We saw that they have rentals above in lofts which are beautiful and will absolutely consider staying here (and dining again for sure) if and when we visit in the future. Highly recommend. My husband is from St. Louis and has been to the Lake of the Ozarks probably 25x and said this was by far the best meal he's ever had here. He raved about it for a few days afterwards. read more

This was my first time here. I ordered the salmon dip and found it too overpowering with the capers and lacked flavor. The duck was just ok. My server seemed too distracted with her other big tables to check in with me and my wife. When I let my server know, no manager came out to even talk to us. We live here at the lake and used to frequent the Reserve often, but less and less because of staff and service. The Food is always great. The hostess is always rude, and service is usually mediocre. They obviously have more business than they need, so they treat customers as if they are an inconvenience. But we still return because the food is always top quality. read more

The food was good. Atmosphere and views were exceptionally good. We have been wanting to try this restaurant for quite a while and it worked out today. It's easy to reserve a table online. The dock girl was friendly and very helpful. That's where the great service ended. At the dock. The staff inside the restaurant were rude. We sat for at our table (which felt in the way of the hustle and bustle of the outdoor seating area) for about 25 minutes before a server ever approached us. In fact, we had to go to the host stand and ask for assistance. The host said "ok" and walked away. 5-7 minutes later a server who had walked past our table a dozen times asked what we wanted to drink. The food, once we ordered, came out quickly and it was delicious, but the service was so bad and we felt like a bother asking for anything. The dock girl even told us that it was a super slow Wednesday night. I'm not sure what the issue was, but it was disappointing. read more

Great food, service was exceptional, and the ambiance was good, great view of activity on the lake and kept busy watching the boats.

My girlfriend and I recently visited. We loved the waterside location! Go down the steps, it's a bit difficult to find from the parking area. Although there is a number to call if you aren't able to do the steps and need a ride. Our waitress was very attentive and did a great job. We started with the beet salad, very good but we both felt it needed just a bit of crunch. The filet was decent, the vegetables with it were perfectly done. But the star of the show was the shrimp and grits! We would definitely order that again! Prepare to spend a bit, I believe we spent just over $150 with two drinks. read more

Atmosphere is fair, if you are inside the building it's loud and hard to hear, but if outside it's not bad. However, outside you have to contend with the bugs flying around, which takes away from atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful, very knowledgable about what they serve. We sat at 7:15, ordered at 7:40 and didn't get food until 8:30, so make sure you order an appetizer, we didn't and by the time food came, we were hungry. The food is amazing though, if you can handle the slow food deliver, swiping away the bugs, and avoiding the spider on the wall ( we were against the rock wall outside), the food is well worth it. I had the pork loin and my wife the sea bass. We ordered the brussel sprouts from a review we seen, AMAZING! The loin and the sea bass delightful. Some of the best food I've had in a very long time at a restaurant. If you have the time and are looking for a relaxing dinner, make reservations, get sat outside, don't mind swiping bugs away, waiting for the side-by-side to get you to and from parking (there is not much parking but they pick you up from down the road and take you back after dinner) and you want great food, this is a place to check out. I had an incredible experience at 1932 Reserve--definitely one of the best meals I've had at the Lake of the Ozarks. I started with the Brussels sprouts, which completely surprised me. I'm normally not a fan, but these were packed with flavor and had just the right balance of sweet, smoky, and savory. I also tried the Kung Pao carrots--wasn't sure what to expect, but they ended up being my favorite bite of the night. Super unique and absolutely delicious. The cornbread was another hit--sweet with a bit of heat, and the whipped bacon butter took it over the top. For my entrée, I had the baked ziti with Italian fennel sausage. It was rich, comforting, and reheated well the next day. I also tried the shrimp and grits and was pleasantly surprised, especially since grits usually aren't my thing. Whatever they're doing in that dish just works. Others at the table had the ribeye, filet, and sea bass, and everyone had great things to say. The bourbon selection is probably the best I've seen in Missouri-- Pappy, Weller, Michter's, etc. I'm not a big wine drinker, but the wine list looked impressive as well. Great service, beautiful lakefront setting, and a perfect mix of upscale and laid-back. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area. read more

The salmon was good, but the fingering potatoes on the plate seemed to not have been seasoned, could have used some salt. Crab cakes served in a scallop shell were very good. Corn bread was on the dry side. The ambience was good, however if your first experience was going to the restaurant in the dark, you may be confused where it's at and where to park. There are a lot of stairs to get to it, not sure if there was accommodations for handicap patrons as it was dark when we went. The safe was great and attentive. read more

Our crab cakes appetizer came before our drinks. The crab cakes were just ok. My husband ordered the pork chops and they were really good. The best of our meals by far. I had the scallops and they were a little too gritty for me. They ask on the reservation if you are celebrating anything and we were celebrating my 50th. I don't mind that they didn't do anything, but wonder why they ask. The servers (ours included) just seemed to be blah. Not smiling or very friendly. I might give them another try for happy hour but am not in a hurry to go back. read more

Interesting drive. Serene and felt like you were heading in the wrong direction until you weren't. Yelp's reviews were spot on and turns out we saved the best for last. We started off with a charcuterie board that was Devine! I opted for the waitresses suggestions which was the bone in pork chop and puréed mashed potatoes. Succulent, moist, tender and absolutely delicious. A must try! The potato's were other worldly. Both complimented each other very well. Service and atmosphere were impeccable. So mixed reviews here. We have come here multiple times and last night it was our 14th anniversary. We came this same time last year on our 13th. The difference between the two experiences was night and day. Our reservation was for 6:45 and we showed up about 10 minutes early. They asked if we wanted to sit inside but we chose outside. They hesitated to seat us at a 4-top right in front of the hostess stand as we were a party of 2 but did so anyway. A few minutes later, someone brought by two empty glasses and a vase of water and just sat it there not saying a word. A few minutes after, the same person came back, no introduction and asked what we wanted to drink. Virginia got my wife's order (martini), as I said my order, she already started walking away before I could even finish saying blackberry. Just a very off-putting first impression to say the least. No acknowledgement of our anniversary, no welcome to 1932 my name is Virginia, I'll be taking care of you, nothing. Just a very weird experience. Having waited tables for many years throughout High School, College, and Grad School, I'm pretty versed in how things should be handled, and this was far from ideal especially considering the price point of the experience. Thankfully, and I have no idea why, Virginia's demeanor took a complete 180 upon bringing us our drinks and getting our appetizer order. She became warm, pleasant, and very welcoming. We were so glad because we did not want our entire anniversary to continue on the same trajectory as it started. The appetizer (deviled eggs) were very good, however, I do wish the pork wasn't shaved and was thinly sliced to give it a little more texture and bite, but what can you do. We both got the filet and it too was good although I don't think it needs two sauces. Our subsequent drinks were great too and the service continued to be exceptional and timely. Come bill time, another letdown, to no fault of Virginia's. We had a gift card I received from a client of mine. This is the second time I've gotten a gift card to The Reserve and the second time management has had to get involved because they say it gets declined. Management ultimately gets it resolved but every time says they have issues with the gift card vendor which in turn makes it very embarrassing for us as a customer like our own method of payment is getting declined. I will no longer be accepting gift cards from clients of mine and will encourage them to buy gift cards for other places like Baxters, JB Hooks, etc. where I know people won't run into issues when redeeming them. Anyhow, an okay experience. We will be back, but without a gift card and hopefully with a better start to our evening. read more

Plenty of parking on the hill. Take the stairs down or they run a golf cart tram to the restaurant. We made reservations and I would recommend that, especially during the busy season. No wait once we checked in. We were seated immediately. The waiter was great. All support staff super attentive as well. They were excellent with handling my son's nut allergy. We all ordered filets and they were served with broccoli and garlic mashed potatoes. The steaks were cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the Oreo mousse cheesecake with fresh blueberries. Boom! What an amazing and delicious meal we had at 1392. From the get go, when I called, their staff made sure to make it work. While other restaurants in the area didn't seem to want to welcome a 12 top, 1392 did. They told us that they didn't have seating outside but could work with us. We are glad they did. First of all what a charming place right on the water. They were definitely right that the outside was very lively and full to capacity, but the ambience from the bar to the lighting to the sun going down was just amazing and I highly recommend the experience. Let's get to the food. We had some children with us and we had some accommodations to make but they at least had a kids menu that was appetizing to the kids first of all the appetizers dishes that were stunning and well prepared and absolutely delicious. The cocktail bar made us similar specialty cocktails, which also were amazing and very tasteful , I normally would just get a tequila on the rocks decided to try their fancy cocktails and really enjoyed it... So I had to have another. The food kept coming and every bite was delicious. My 12 and 13-year-old ordered the pasta à la vodka. I believe it was called, and they were thrilled. Even their wedge salad was a step above. This is a must visit restaurant in the area of Osage Beach or Sunset Beach or any other. They are well staffed, well trained, and everyone greeted you with a smile and a good attitude. It was a little on the pricey side, but definitely worth what I paid for it read more

1932 Reserve has a reputation for being one of the best restaurants at Lake of the Ozarks and I'd say they did a good job of living up to that hype during our visit. First important thing to know: you will likely want to make a reservation. We were there near the end of the season and there were a few tables open, but we were ultimately glad we had made a reservation in advance. It's right on the water which makes for a really enjoyable evening, and everything is really well done here from the ambiance, to the cocktails, to the entrees. We shared a bunch of starters for the table and honestly those were all great too. It's expensive so keep that in mind, but in my opinion this was the best place I ate while I was at the Ozarks, and if I'm ever in the area again I'd for sure return. read more

Mother's Day lunch and everything was amazing! Brenda took excellent care of us. We had great drinks, wonderful appetizers, and our entrees were all exceptional. I had the Smoked Pig for a cocktail. We had the strawberry feta bruschetta, Brussels (best I've ever had), and Deviled Eggs for appetizers. I had the Mussels for my entree (see picture). Then dessert was an espresso martini. The dish I had was very tasty, the chicken was seasoned well and juicy yet crispy on the skin. The skin was my absolute favorite. The grits weren't the best though, kind of chunky and a little salty. I didn't have the cornbread, the people I was with did and they said it was delicious. They specified how spicy the green beans were, I guess it was unexpected. The service was great, they were very attentive to us. The tall dark gentlemen (I wish I could remember his name) was super nice and inviting. Drinks were refilled very often and the food came pretty quick. The ambiance was the best part, you're sitting right on the lake or you can sit inside where the air was blasting. I didn't write this review as soon as we left, so I can't remember exactly what was ordered, but my review is based more on the feeling that I had there and whenever I think back on my experience. This place seemed like something I would really like due to the cocktail menu that gets top mention and the ambiance of the place. It had a weird vibe for me though. Servers were nice enough, but the ones we came in contact with didn't match the menu prices and the "expensive" vibe that I thought the menu was trying to achieve. Another strange thing for me was the creativity of the dishes that included scallops with popcorn and pork loin with cheese whiz. Unclear what adding those items to the dishes did to enhance the dish or the experience of fine dining. I would like to think I'm an adventurous eater, but also one that sees the value in knowing who you are. Are you an expensive, fine dining Lake experience or are you a quirky, expensive novelty? All that being said, the food was fine, but this is not a place I feel the need to return to. read more
