    Dirty Jambalaya

What a delicious meal! We love coming down to Shorty pants any time we go to the lake. They always have consistently great food. My favorite is the pasta trio (blush sauce with shrimp, chicken, and andouille sausage.) It wasn't as spicy this time as it normally is, but it was still good. Jambalaya was delicious as well! Their drinks are always refreshing and perfect for a midday treat. Will be coming back!

We had a great time hanging out while we had the weather cooperating. Drinks were overall good-- prices were ok for this area. Our server was kind & joked along with us! It otherwise seemed like we were being rushed to close out our tab as the fore coming weather wasn't great and we wanted to sit outside while it wasn't raining. Our server informed us that they were closing down early due to the weather but others coming were just being seated inside. I wish they would've suggested us to move indoors and we would've spent longer (+more money for them!) but weren't given that option. It was Easter and I get they wanted to close early. But we didn't order entrees and only shared 1/2 order of nachos as we weren't very hungry & just wanted a snack with our cocktails. The salsa was amazing & we loved the nachos topped with ingredients, albeit lacking the "blackened chicken" and cheese sauce.

Shorty Pants, over the years, has become my family's go-to! The gumbo is always amazing, shrimp po boy hits the spot, and the pain in the ass cocktail is fabulous. Definitely don't miss out on the beignets! Pricing is on par. Staff is attentive. Parking is tricky. It's limited but also, has a huge incline and multiple spots. Wait time can be large. The bathroom is small. Love the patio!

    Beignets! They are absolutely delicious!

It's really a 10! The food was absolutely incredible! And the service was excellent! Jennifer was our waitress and she was fine and attentive and helpful with the menu. We ordered Cajun food and it was beyond words!! GO to this place! You won't be disappointed!

What took me so long to eat here??? LOVE IT!! Gumbo is DELICIOUS Only complaint about the jambalaya is there wasn't enough The shrimp was butterflied & fried perfectly. Red beans & rice taste just like the southerners make. Chocolate cobbler was good but not to die for. Bloody Mary wasn't great.. too watery. Service was fast and staff was sweet! Can't wait to go back!!

I was craving Cajun, found this place...Soooo Glad we did! We had Shrimp Po Boys and the Creole Quesadilla. The quesadilla was a great take on a Cajun dish...so if you love quesadillas and Cajun food--give it a try! The Po Boy was awesome...a little messy to eat, but very tasty! Our server was very nice and offered some menu tips. We opted to sit outside. It was a beautiful evening. Super nice! Highly recommend if you are in the area!

    Great view of the lake.

Holy cow are we glad we stopped here! The Cajun food here was spectacular! I would love to mention our delightful server, but she never gave us her name. I started my meal with the chicken and sausage gumbo, which was delightful. My wife had the shrimp Poboy, which she absolutely adored. I had the shrimp and crawfish etouffee, which was very thick, rich and creamy unlike any I'd ever had. But it was delicious! We enjoyed a nice view of the lake while we had our lunch and our unnamed server was super efficient and quick. We were able to get on the road back to our home in Kansas City after a delightful meal. Next time we are in the Ozarks, we will definitely be stopping here. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience.

Terrible amount of shrimp in the shrimp jambalaya. Terrible waitress too. Been there several times and tonight was horrible.

Though I'll speak well…read moreof this place, the cost/value of this place - will (still) have me endorsing Krustaceans in Columbia. The seafood at this place, was cooked very very good. The quality of the seafood was a very clean tasting seafood. Even the shrimp had a nice clean flavor. And we're you looking for butter? Oh, they do (not) spare the sticks of butter at this place! The potato. Oh yes, I said "potato". I have never had a seafood bowl - have (just) a single potato. The potato tasted absolutely great. But 1 potato? That was a joke - especially after you see what these items cost! The garlic butter: There was plenty of butter. Tye flavoring of the butter, certainly was unique of sorts. Seemed to have (possibly) a chili powder base. And though I thought it was good...I also got tired of the taste, after a bit. The Big Downer at this place: Cost. You see my (2) platters. Add (3) cans of Coke - the cost was $150.00. Yes, that's correct: $150.00. Sure, there's a whole lobster on one of the platters. BUT, it wasn't that big by any means. And let's remember: 1 potato was included in the platter. 1 small red potato, came with it; at that price! Lol. Conclusion: Krustaceans is where you should go - for the seafood boiler platters. A much better combination of quality, value and price.

I asked for the manager's name and got the gen Z stare along with 'Kevin' but apparently Kevin's last name is a state secret. The food (cajun combo boil) wasn't as good as it used to be either. Nearly half the mussels were unopened, the sausage was a lot smaller than it used to be, and the single potato was tiny. This used to be a good place, which makes its decline kind of sad. No wonder there was only one other customer in the place.

When we arrived, the restaurant did seem a little understaffed, so service was slower than usual, but thankfully I had made a reservation and we had no trouble getting seated. Even with the wait, the staff was kind and doing their best, which was totally understandable. I ordered the Zydeco pasta with crawfish, and we also shared the jambalaya casserole. Both dishes were fantastic. The pasta was basically like a rich, flavorful lobster mac & cheese -- absolutely delicious. The jambalaya casserole was topped with this amazing cheesy sauce that made it even better. The restaurant itself was such a cute spot, with way more seating than I expected, including an adorable patio in the back. Overall, such a charming place with amazing comfort food. Definitely a spot I'd come back to 100%.

The dining area was clean with a nice stamped concrete floor, had loads of natural light with huge windows in the back, and it had a beautiful New Orleans mural in the back. We wished for a bigger dish for the small cups of gumbo and red beans and rice because they were so good! I'm sure they'd come a bit more seasoned or spicer in the south, but in MO, they seemed to tame it down a bit - still delicious though! (And there are two hot sauces and a Cajun spice blend at the table.) The wedge salad with the homemade blue cheese dressing was delicious!! I'd order the dressing on the side though - our salad was swimming a bit... Enjoy your stop!!
