We went here to celebrate a birthday. We were seated in the middle of the dining room so we had good views of the lake from both sides of the table. Unfortunately, due to the time of day with the sun setting half of our table was blinded by the sun even with the window shades pulled down. There were several people at our table and even others that had to dawn sunglasses to make it through the meal. Our waitress, while kind, was slow and disappeared often forgetting what we asked her to get, like a replacement knife for the one that she had dropped when serving steaks. The next time we had seen her it was 10 minutes later and she was serving another table their dinner. So, I guess have patience if you come here for dinner and make sure to bring sun glasses for dinner. read more

"Visited JB Hook's for lunch yesterday (March 29 around noon) expecting a decent meal with the lake view, but it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in the Ozarks. The food had absolutely no taste whatsoever--everything was completely bland and felt like it had zero seasoning or freshness. My friend ordered the fish and chips, and he's been sick to his stomach all morning today. I wouldn't risk the seafood here. Stop by with another couple on Friday night. We started our meals with appetizers of mussels , escargot, and crispy fish fingers. The mussels were in a white wine sauce and were delicious. The escargot was in a garlic Panko and crusted bowl, which was also very tasty. The crispy fish fingers are to die for they are awesome with the honey and raspberry glaze that is served on them. I got the grouper supreme, which is a fillet of grouper pan seared with shrimp scampi on top. Mine was fabulous. My wife got the orange ruffie and was extremely pleased with her selection. Our waiter Tony was fantastic. He was very attentive, very knowledgeable of the specials and the menu and took great care of us. We sat overlooking the bridge with a window table and was treated to the views of the lake. The other couple that we were with Got a seared ribeye and a crispy walleye both raved about their meals. We went to JB Hooks to meet friends for dinner. We ordered our appetizers and one was the lobster bites. They were so small the size of a marble maybe even a little smaller than that. Over cooked but the seasoning on it was good. I noticed another table didn't eat theirs either. My husband had steak and lobster tail. It was the largest we have had and was impressive but that was over cooked some as well. We've had lobster bites as we have travelled. This one I think would be embarrassing putting out at the table for people. Lobster bites are the size of like a marshmallow. read more

The lobster bites we did not like, two small and chewy. Sent them back. The drinks we ordered was suppose to be a expresso coffee drink. They were watered down. We accepted them. Food was good and bad. Waitress didn't ask how my boyfriend wanted his steak cooked. It came well done, which is not how he likes it. We ordered two waters, we only got one. The salads came with our entrees instead of before. The waitress didn't clear the plates when we were finished. She did offer to get my boyfriend another steak, but by that time he was too full. My salmon was very good. The restaurant is nice and we had a table by the window overlooking the lake. The place is beautiful , right on the water. We ordered a chocolate expresso martini that was very good. We also ordered a pepsi and two waters, we only got one water. My bf ordered a steak, a sirloin. The waitress didn't ask him how he wanted it cooked, it came well done, no juice at all, very dry. Another outstanding evening. Jackie D did a super job, especially recommending the Manhattan (grouper). My wife's filet was perfect as were the martinis. We would go just for the appetizer of Crunchy Fingers. Well done. Only negative is the "service charge" of 2.5% for credit cards. We were immediately seated as we had reservations and started out with the baked oyster on the half shell, they were very tasty, cheesy, and a good hint saltiness. My espresso 43 was like a sweet iced coffee cocktail. I decided to splurge and get the 1lb lobster tail with the sides of BLT wedge salad ranch style and their seasonal veggies. Our season server Johnny did a great job providing us great service and his history with JB hooks. The lobster was the star of the show as it should be for the hefty market price have $125. Great spot! This place is expansive. Tons of seating and a great bar- all looking over the water. We stopped in for dinner over Memorial Day weekend and we had impeccable service. Everyone was very knowledgeable and we were waited on hand and foot. Beautiful views too! For entrees I had the orange roughie, my friend had the ahi tuna and another had steak. They all come with salad and soup and a side. I had their house salad which was to die for and a twice baked potato. Both incredible. Food came out promptly and portions were large. We had dinner as a family at JB's while on vacation for Thanksgiving. They had an extensive menu. We ordered the jalapeño bacon wrapped poppers and bam bam shrimp. The poppers were spicy! Good but too spicy for me to eat. The bam bam shrimp was ok. It needed more sauce in my opinion. My grandkids had the kids burger sliders. We had asked them for well done, they definitely came to us medium. I ordered the chicken penne pasta, which was delicious. No complaints there accept I couldn't eat it all! The restaurant was pretty. Different areas of dining were nice and they even had live music, albeit it was about to start as soon as we were leaving. And the view, was perfect. Sadly we missed the piano performance that was setting up to start, but I'm sure it was lovely. I love that they offer live performances like that! My mother ordered a chicken, mushroom, creamy pasta (I forgot the name of it) but it was so good! I ordered the fish and chips and the cod was perfectly crispy! Never buy a gift card from JB Hooks. I have. $100 gift card from there. first time I tried using it the inept help could not figure out how to open it. Then I went back a couple months later and they got it to open and my bill was $34. I went back a few months ago and tried using the balance on my bill and they could not figure it out A manager took my receipt which showed a balance of $66. He said once he figured it out he would call. That was almost two months ago. The gift card seems to be a scam. I will never step foot in there again read more

Beautiful place to dine. However, unless you want soup always ask for sauce on the side. My tilapia was almost floating in the over-abundance of sauce. Several others in our party have had similar experiences. Was really a let down. I am very surprised they brought it out like that. read more

We didn't have a reservation but really liked our table in the bar, since we were just there for drinks and appetizers anyway. We also had a fabulous view of the gorgeous sunset (most tables do!). The bread basket failed with its plain(?) cream cheese. Not sure of the point there. I ordered the Crunchy Fingers and the wings. The Fingers (fish) were amazing! Super crunchy, a perfect salty/sweet combo, laying on a dreamy dual sauce - the ideal appetizer for splurging on every unhealthy quality out there. The wings were somewhat neglected due to my love for those Fingers but they were very good. We topped everything off by sharing a brownie with caramel, hot fudge and vanilla ice cream. Great views, beautiful renovated dining area. Multiple areas to dine depending on what vibe you want. Sporty on one side, more elegant on the other. We went for happy hour on the sporty side. Had beef sliders, was a little sparse with the meat. The margarita was not exactly what I had hoped for, I would stick with a beer or wine next visit.
