A coworker recommended the Southern comfort restaurant, and this is honestly one of the only decent restaurants reasonably priced at the Lake. I ordered the country fried chicken, it was a little salty but it was well seasoned. The gravy was a little too much for my liking. The Mac & Cheese and coleslaw was absolutely on point. We walked in on a Friday afternoon with 15 people, which can be overwhelming for some businesses. Heather was extremely friendly and accommodating and quickly pushed together tables to seat us. She was the only server and the bartender and we received exceptional service. Her recommendations were on point from cocktails to food! Camp Bagnell had good food and fresh catfish the meal with the catfish was a little expensive because they only gave us one piece and it was $14. The service was very very slow but again the food was pretty good. The atmosphere was nice and it seemed clean. read more

Both times we had large groups and we had no problem getting seated and taken care of. I would love to see them get the recognition they deserve but hope it stays the comfortable and quality customer service the provide. Overpriced, poor quality food. Presentation is off. Side salad is crammed into small side bowl. Special was thin "bourbon" pork steak had to be cut with a steak knife for only $18.99. They should concentrate on serving good quality food. read more

We love the food most of the time. The beans can be very salty, and I just can't handle a lot of salt! I would order them every time, if I knew they were not salty! I agree with another person that said the Catfish dinner is too expensive for what you get. I was dying for some fried catfish, and when they brought it, it was a small filet! I was still so hungry, and they charged another $7. for another filet. I really felt robbed paying $22. for that dinner. Love the real mash potatoes! The chicken is good most of the time, but sometimes it's a little dried out, and the batter can be too salty. On the chicken finger basket, sometimes they are big pieces, and sometimes small pieces. When the owner was not there, one time when we were there, they played such horrible LOUD music, you could not even carry on a conversation! We asked if they would turn it down, but they didn't, so luckily we were ready to leave. The pork chops I had one time were really good, and the chicken fried steak is also good. My husband loves their Rueben, when they have the meat! We have had good service, and don't mind if things are running a little slow. If you have not been, please give them a try! read more

Well this used to be my favorite hidden gem at the lake. It's a very homey environment. And the servers are always very attentive. But today did it in. Eaten here 5 times over the last 2 months and has progressively gotten worse. 2 plus hours for food, always out of sides, portions are now silly small. But tonight I had "home" fried chicken (house specialty as I understand) and received two large chicken fingers instead served with wet gooey breading. And the green beans were so strangely slimy they were glueing them selves together. And worst of all no one there would resolve the issues. It is no longer worth the 80+ dollars my family and I spend there every time we visit. Not to mention they were also out of dessert, again... read more

After waiting almost a year to dine here, I have to say I am utterly disappointed and I wanted to love it. Let's just say it's overpriced and that's being nice. I had the chicken special on Wednesday night and it's 2 pieces of chicken for $13.50!!!! A breast a wing fried okra and mash potatoes, highway robbery. My wife had chicken fried steak, it was $15.99! My wing was perfect, but the breast was drenched in grease, had to put my napkin under it to help soak it up. The Okra and potatoes weren't bad, but certainly didn't meet expectations. Sat at the bar and the service was not great, as stated utterly disappointed and I will never return. All about people making money, but I felt cheated. I am sure the family is great, but those are big city prices! I forgot to mention it took 1 hour and 10 minutes to get our food, just a statement of fact, I understand the shortage of work at the lake, but seemed to be fully staffed. I had the Chicken Fried steak which was huge with two pieces of steak, gravy, and homemade mashed potatoes with just a hint of lumps, which was perfect. Catfish bites as appetizer was great!!! This is the best fried chicken I have EVER had! AND, the fried catfish was also AMAZING! The chicken and the catfish were perfectly cooked with amazing flavor and they were NOT GREASY AT ALL. The service was spot on - very, very good. I highly recommend this restaurant. Very good homemade food. I really enjoyed my chicken sandwich with some spicey southern rice. Finished off my meal with a slice of warm pecan pie. I have been down at the lake for a couple years now and I am sorry this was the first time I visited this restaurant. Don't know where Jeremy ate but I ate there last night, had the chicken special with salad and mashed potatoes and it was great. The chicken was not greasy at all the potatoes were outstanding with white gravy and the salad was awesome. Price was $13.00 and I walked away stuffed. Besides the fact that it always seem like we almost die trying to find this place (a quick turn onto Highway V from 54, with no signs alerting you it's coming up), we have stopped here the past few times we've gone to the lake. $3 Boulevard pints, and sometimes they let you keep the glass! (We came home with 6 pint glasses one night!) The catfish here is pretty damn good - probably because it's supposedly caught fresh that day in the catfish farms around the area. Prices seem a little steep for what you get (most of their appetizers are the price of a meal), but overall, not too bad for fresh fish. They also have fried frog legs that we tried once - I think I prefer gator :). read more

We stopped in on a rainy, chilly Saturday and had the catfish. It was nice because even though it was technically outside, they had greenhouse plastic and warmers above your head so you could stay warm. Had a nice dinner. Easy to find coming from Osage Beach. Good service. Started with skins and they were very good. Glad the server recommended them. My husband had the catfish and really liked it. The coleslaw was very good. I had a steak sandwich which was good but nothing special. The only bad part was that they currently only have outdoor seating and the flies were really bad tonight but what can you do about that. We are glad we tried it and will go back. read more
