Lovely experience here. Cedar plank salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Both the potato side and cooked carrots were also amazing. Staff were all friendly and kind.

We have been driving from St. Louis to Cabool for over twenty years and we have finally found a place to stop at eat that is equal to the best of the best foody spots! Craft cocktails, appetizers and entrees that are unique and will throw your tastebuds into overdrive. I hope this restaurant and cocktail bar will be here indefinitely!!!

Salt & Water - two ingredients necessary for a great date night. We enjoyed the calamari and lamb chops off their daily specials. The service was great, attentive Heartland service.

I've been traveling through Rolla every month. In doing so, I've taken the opportunity to do some exploring and reconnaissance for my Yelp friends. This spot came highly recommended by fellow Yelpers and locals alike. I was warmly welcomed in and promptly seated. I had made a reservation since I visited on a Friday night. If you do book ahead, do yourself a favor and ask to have Michael as your server. He was friendly and professional. Doting, but not overly so. Just the right amount of care and attention. All his tables were treated with the same level of attention. I was dining alone and did not have the opportunity to sample as many things as I would have liked. The cocktail list was fairly impressive. There's the standard fare, along with some crafted drinks. I also recognized some old time favorites. The wine list is equally boastful of several great options. As I sat enjoying my cocktail, I took in the vibe of the dining room. The place as a whole, gives a relaxed atmosphere. For my selections I went with the crab dip as a starter and an 8oz filet for my entree. The crab dip is found in a few items on the menu. I'm a purist and wanted to make sure it was worthy of being featured in several other dishes. Well, I was definitely not disappointed. I feel like this is someone's grandmother's recipe. Rich and creamy and perfect with the toast. I would prefer to leave the cheese topping off next time I visit. The dish is amazing without it. For my meal, I'm actually going to brag about the sides first. I chose glazed carrots and goat cheese mashed potatoes. Look, I don't normally eat cooked carrots. Something about the description piqued my curiosity. They were rich and buttery with such amazing flavors. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of texture. I've never met a potato I didn't like, but these were incredible. Rich and creamy and paired perfectly with the beautifully cooked sirloin. For the record, I cleared my entire plate. This was such a delicious experience for me. I think many places outside of the larger cities don't get their due. This team is providing top notch service and the kitchen is serving high quality food. It's a little jaunt down from St. Louis, but I highly recommend stopping here if you're just passing through, a local, or looking for your next food adventure.

NOT the beloved mahi. This is their cod.

I came here once with my boyfriend, and we both left amazed. For months, we dreamed of their bronzed Mahi-Mahi, practically salivating at the thought of that delicious fish. So buttery, so flavorful. We came back for a second date night and they were, unfortunately, out of our beloved mahi . Many tears were wept that night. Do not fret, this just means we will come again in search of our new favorite dish. We have no reason not to return! The staff are always courteous and we have never had to wait for a table. They offer many different foods, from burgers to seafood! They have a great mocktail menu, and I'm sure their alcoholic beverages are just as good. If you are in town, perhaps visiting your beloved long-distance Miner , give this place a try!

Side salad with garlic Parmesan house made dressing. So good.

Experiences have always had up-and-down moments, but this time was disappointing because I really wanted it to be great. It just wasn't. The Good: The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the waterfront ambiance is spot on. It's clearly the place to be at the lake--so good job on the venue. The Service & Atmosphere: Service was adequate, but far from fine dining. If you're charging premium prices, the service model needs to match. Having random runners drop food at the table without knowing who ordered what is diner or casual Mexican restaurant service, not an elegant dining experience. The new manager stopped by twice--a nice touch, until we actually provided constructive feedback. Instead of offering a remedy, he offered excuses about being new and didn't handle criticism well. The Food: Apps (Deviled Eggs & Tuna): Both looked like they'd been plated earlier in the day--they had an unappetizing "sheen" to them that made them look leftover rather than fresh. The flavor on the eggs was completely muted, and the tuna was equally lusterless. Salads: We split the Caesar, and our friends had the wedge. They were served without any offer of fresh pepper. When we flagged down a staff member, they brought out cheap grocery-store salt and pepper grinders. Later, we were told the new chef prefers not to offer pepper on the table. With all due respect to the chef: that's the guest's choice, not yours. (Side note: the wedge was tasty, but oddly wasn't actually cut into a wedge). Mains: The ladies had the Sea Bass--the dish that originally put this place on the map. It was okay, but not as good as it used to be; the new Asian flair and bowl presentation take away from what used to make it the star of the show. The pork chop was good and thoroughly enjoyed. My lasagna had a great portion size and good base flavor, but it was dry as jerky with practically zero sauce. The Verdict: The restaurant will continue to thrive simply because of its location and the lack of competing fine-dining options on the water. But when you're dropping $500 on dinner, you expect accountability and an outstanding meal. We won't be back anytime soon.

Yes, the coffee is excellent -- well-crafted, smooth, and exactly what you want whether you're starting your day or taking a midday break (be sure to get a pastry or cookie, trust me on this!). But what really sets Red Wheel apart is that if you're not in the mood for coffee, you've got options. Their selection of alcoholic drinks makes this a perfect spot to transition from afternoon caffeine to early evening relaxation. Indoor seating is limited, but the ample outdoor seating more than makes up for it. Inside, the cozy space gives you a front-row seat to watch the barista work their magic, while also creating a great opportunity to chat with the owners and learn about the connected bike shop next door. Red Wheel Steam House strikes that perfect balance -- great coffee, flexible drink options, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The Lavendar Haze was a little too sweet for me.but the stepdaughter loved it. It was definitely good and very refreshing. Our lunch location didn't have Guiness stout, but the Red Wheel did, which made the hubs happy. I got an espresso AND an Espresso Martini. Both were delicious. The actual building is very small and has limited seating and room. Therefore, the coffee comes in nice paper cups. There is a wonderful outside seating area and would be amazing in the warmer weather. The barista was so nice and very efficient making our drinks. There were several people and more who came in, and he handled the rush gracefully They also offer batista classes, which I think would be super cool for a couples or girls only outing. Stop by and try them out!
