I was a little nervous about coming to Country Cafe because of some of the reviews, but it ended up being really good. When you walk in, it's definitely an older-style place, but it has a chill, comfortable vibe. The staff was always around checking on everyone, and even the kitchen staff came out to help. The food was great, this is the first time I actually finished my whole plate! It tasted just like a home-cooked breakfast. Everything came out fast, and the portions were big. My favorite part was how connected they are with their customers. Even though it was my first time there, they already knew some of the regulars, like "Pops," and even had his grape jelly ready. We like eating at local places when we travel, and this place was perfect! We were a little hesitant when we saw it from the outside, but the service and food were great! They are open from 7:00am on, but we got there early because we thought they opened at 6:00am. They let us in at 6:45am for coffee. We had breakfast here two days of our visit. I'm not gonna lie, I was skeptical. Restaurant. Thats all it said. But we shook the dice and went on in. And boy am I glad we did. Very homey place. Small town Cafe and you could tell most inside were regulars, But treated like family. The customers were as friendly as the staff. Now let's talk about the food. My husband had breakfast and i had just a "go to" burger and fries. Definitely no disappointments there. I couldn't even finish mine! ...oh... and let's talk about the prices. Wah. Stopped here with some other drivers. Thought we had a good place and there was parking next to gas station. The coffee was good that was it. They had another room with a door that had smokers in it! Wow haven't seen that in awhile. I chocked pretty much the whole time. I'm getting over a cold so breathing was sparse. The food was mediocre at best ... I had corned beef hash meh... Bf had salad that what I should have had! The eggs were over cooked and green tho. Everyone else's food was just ok also. We went to the Country Cafe at a bad time. It was a Saturday, past breakfast time and the menu was limited to sandwiches only. Breakfast is served till 11 and on the weekends, they don't offer their regular lunch menu. Our son had the grilled cheese sandwich, which was a regular grilled cheese. My husband had a steak sandwich, which was pretty good as well as my club sandwich. I do have to say, the homemade fries that came with all of our three meals were delicious. And I am extremely picky when it comes to fries. Our waitress was absolutely lovely! The place definitely kids friendly and has a smoker and a non smoker room. Conveniently located by the highway. When we have a chance, we'll have to go back to try the breakfast or lunch menus, which both looked very appealing! I'm particularly curious to try the homemade meatloaf. read more

The food and service were both great. The property needs a rehab but with the economy the way it is, I think they're doing the best they can just to stay afloat. My husband had the ham steak and eggs, I had Sausage and eggs, everything was great, coffee was hot and tasted great! read more

I was a bit skeptical when I walked in the door, but don't be fooled by the cigarette smell. The food here's great. I came in for breakfast and got the ribeye breakfast special. Not a single bland item on my plate. These people do breakfast better than most, and probably best in the area. Coffee flows. Conclusion: Other places would charge 50% more for something half as good. After sitting here for a while, something I can't quite place feels quite homey about it. It's a welcoming atmosphere. Smokers: there's a smoking side closed off. Now you can smoke and enjoy breakfast at the same time. read more

It is either hit or miss when I come here . Unless you only order coffee . I have a ruben in front of me , don't see how they can call it a ruben sandwich , no sour crout , at all! Great food and service. The ribs were some of the best i've ever had. Good people. Mashed potatoes were real too i think.

I came here once with my bf when we first moved here. It's like a cafe from a Tarantino movie where one of the customers grabs coffee after robbing a bank or something...Or murder.. whatever. Anyway, the coffee is as black as can be, and their pancakes were fluffy. The country side never fails when it comes to pancakes. This place is by far the worst in town! Both times I have been there I got poor service from the staff. First time I came they told me they wouldn't make me what I wanted cause they were only making sandwiches. Then yesterday I went to give it a second chance and once again I was let down. Soon as I say down the waitress came and first thing out of her mouth was I'm on lunch and the kitchen was backed up for 30 minutes. Then Instead of introducing a new waitress who could take our order she just had an attitude and said she was going on lunch. This place has lack of customer service and poor management skills. Had a nice breakfast wife my wife here a few days ago. I'm not a fan of chain restaurants so this local dinner was a pleasant surprise. The County Stake and Eggs special was great, little heavy on the gravy for my taste but I just moved it to the side. It was nice and warm inside on a cold day. We stopped here for nostalgic reasons and very glad we did. My grandparents use to stop here on their roadtrips between St. Louis and Branson, so we made the stop too. My family enjoed their lunches. Lots of locals and chatter, it was charming. Everything was DELICIOUS! We both had breakfast food with the eggs cooked perfectly, corned beef hash was authentic and not canned, biscuits were hot and buttery, and gravy over chicken fried steak melted in our mouths. Coffee was just right too. While it doesn't look like much from the outside, we would have rated it a "5" but the door separating the smoking section is not effective in keeping the smoke from the non-smoking area, plus the server - while very friendly and efficient - can't help but smell like smoke since she serves both areas. Great food! If you can get passed carpeted flooring and what looks like an old building, than try this place out! We were not disappointed with our food, nor service but this place could use an upgrade. I had the ham steak & eggs, hubby had the country fried steak that he felt was one of the best he's had.
