This is how the food arrived.
Zac F.

I came in today and ordered A chicken breast dinner. Menu specifies two chicken breasts and two sides. After waiting nearly 40 minutes, I received my food. They were hot, but the chicken breasts were very small (about 2.5 oz) and VERY DRY like they had been reheated. I ordered fresh cut french fries That were old and cold. The sweet tea was good, and the broccoli was the only thing on the plate that had any flavor.

#15-2021 the old Oasis at Richland Missouri. taking me back to my early truck and days and I used to trash around here all the time located roughly 15 minutes from Lebanon Missouri or 45 minutes outside of Rolla on interstate 44. this is an old school truck stop this is not a travel center they don't claim to be a travel center it's geared towards truck drivers still. I hadn't stopped and here probably in close to 4 years or so don't ask me why I've got some other places I usually hit when I'm rolling up 44 but last night I got tired pulled in and go to sleep. walking in it looks like 1985 still the way it looked other than a couple of tables removed one big long sort of we called it the trucker's community table back in the day gone other than that looks the same. it is ran by the same people that run the truck stop although it's called the Westwood Cafe it's used to be known just as The Oasis truck stop and Cafe but I was greeted when I walked in seated had a cup of coffee perused the menu. it was very clean the tables are wiped down. tried decided to order up a ham steak and eggs with sourdough toast and I asked you to have hash browns or they also said they have home fries I say are they on the grill or are they more in the basket fried. she said they can make them anyway you wet so I like the old fried potatoes on the grill and that's what they made. food was fantastic the eggs were done perfectly over medium like I liked, sourdough toast was fine I had no problem at all in fact I think I may stop here a little more often. now to get the elephant in the room out of the way this is unmasked Missouri; it always has been this is an area where they don't wear masks and this rural area doesn't surprise me and I really didn't care. I wore mine in a few other people did but as far as the staff know they don't wear them just like at the store it's not enforced they don't really care. bottom line old school truck stop restaurant nice selection of stick to your ribs kind of food prepared nice and really no issues at all. prices competitive with any other place although I'm the weekends it is the local hot spot for dinner and it can get a little crowded.

What a wonderful unexpected gem we came across!! The place is super cute, service is great, and…read morefood was really good. I had a cold brew and hubby had the copper tea. He had a turkey club and I had a turkey avocado sandwich on multigrain. For sides we had cucumber salad, potato salad, and mac & cheese. A word of surprise, the potato salad is served warm, but it was really tasty. The only disappointment was the mac & cheese, which was grainy and soup-like with very overcooked noodles in it. They had no discernible shape and almost seemed like egg noodles oddly enough. We enjoyed our drinks, sandwiches and salads very much.

Such a cute, cozy place. It was like stepping into a warm cafe in another land…read more I started with a seasonal latte that had hints of toasted marshmallows, cinnamon, and pumpkin. Followed by a Monte Cristo. The bread was so light and fluffy. The saltiness of the meat with the sweetness of the bread and sugar with a little spread of raspberry preserves delighted the tastebuds. The side of fruit was large and seasonally appropriate. You order at the counter, where I think the owner was taking the orders and the accent definitely sounded authentic German like the name of the restaurant. She was lovely. Everything is made fresh so sit back and relax and the dining area is designed perfect for that with couches, cozy chairs and comfortable seats at the tables. I looked up what the name means: "Drachenfutter" is also a term used to describe gifts or treats that someone might bring home for their significant other when they feel guilty about coming home late or drunk. True to the "gift" part of the name, you can take yummy homemade treats home with you and they do have a section of gifts you can buy. A nice gem of a place along Historic Route 66.

If you're anything like me, you research the restaurants at your travel destination before much…read moreelse. This place came so highly recommended, I had no choice but to pay them a visit. Pro tip: please check their facebook page for updated hours, contact information, and menu of the day. I stopped by to place a carry out order. The team was so welcoming and friendly. That perfect sincere hospitality you don't see too much anymore. The space is absolutely adorable and comfortable. When my order was ready, I was handed a bag that easily weighed five pounds! I went with the blackberry fried chicken. This is like nothing I've ever had. The chicken was super crispy like Korean fried chicken and just covered in a sweet sticky blackberry sauce. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy. Every single bite was perfect. I went with the macaroni and cheese and greens for my sides. Both came served in generous portions of deliciousness. The greens might be a little spicy if you don't like heat. My order came with two cornbread muffins. The meal was a very generous and a filling one. I also picked a slice of peach cobbler cheesecake from the dessert case. While tasty, I would have preferred one or the other. Both cheesecake and cobbler in one dessert was just a little too much for me. But delicious nonetheless. I can see why this spot comes with such great accolades for food service and hospitality.

This truly is a hidden gem in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri!! We went to visit my daughter for family…read moreday and graduation from basic training and all of the drill sergeants raved about how this was the best soul food restaurant in town. They didn't lie. Not only was the food amazing, but the service was also impeccable. The waitress was so nice, and she gave us history on the restaurant and her family. There were pictures of her family on the walls, and they even had a tree branch with wooden portraits of family members (family tree). It was so cool!! The food was so good!! We had the chicken wings, greens, mac and cheese, yams, and catfish. The portion sizes were huge, so we had food to go. A person in our party had the red beans and rice and fried corn and she said the red beans and rice was some of the best she has ever had, and the sauce on the fried corn was good. The cook's husband came out and talked to us at the end of our meal and gave us some background on how he was also in the military, retired and is now working at the restaurant with his wife along with his government job. Everybody was just so nice and welcoming, and it definitely was a great experience. The prices for the food was very affordable considering the portion sizes. We have to go back in January for her next graduation. We will definitely be going back to eat there. I can taste it already!!
