I rarely leave bad reviews, but the customer service shown today warrants it. Store personnel refused legal coins (Jovita Idar quarters) for a bag fee. Personnel stated the quarters weren't real and made a show about not accepting them. This behavior was done towards two young Black women picking up a mobile order. First, I've never had a bag fee demanded at mobile pickup. Second, I've never seen other customers treated like this. I'm writing this review because my experiences have been positive until now, but if this is how store personnel treat people they THINK don't warrant respect or good customer service, then this was the last time they'll get my business. *** Update: I want to thank the manager for their prompt reply to my review. I also want to address some points made in the statement. I spoke with the young women after their experience. They were visibly confused and upset by the treatment at your store. They didn't refuse to pay the bag fee. The quarters offered were legal, but your staff treated the coins as though they were counterfeit and then behaved rudely towards the young women. One young woman explained that since she'd been traveling, she thought she'd first given a Canadian coin, but then saw the second was the same as the first. She showed me the quarters and they were both 2023 minted quarters with Jovita Idar on the back. Even if your staff were unfamiliar with the new quarters, they didn't bother to slow down and consider how unlikely it was to be handed counterfeit MINTED coins to pay a $0.10 bag fee. I've never witnessed such close scrutiny of coins. $20, $50, $100 bills, yes. Quarters, never. Your reply mentioned the bag fee option for mobile ordering offered since 2017. I and my friends have picked up countless mobile orders from your Park St. location. Not once were we asked for a bag fee at the pickup counter. I've requested a bag at pickup usually after I realize I'm not able to carry everything safely home or to my car. Bag fees are pretty standards these days, so I wouldn't have even argued about it if asked. But I wasn't. So the drama around this fee was unusual to witness and now seems subjectively applied by staff. I want to repeat that I don't leave negative reviews. I actually don't even write reviews, because I prefer to give feedback (positive/negative)at the time of service. After seeing how staff behaved I didn't feel they were receptive to feedback, so I came here to address the issue. I wrote before that I'd personally never received poor service, so I was shocked to witness it. For me grabbing a boba tea and snacks is a treat and fun experience. iTea on Park has been my go-to spot for years. Not anymore. One of those young women is local. She was sharing what she planned to be a fun experience with her visitor. It wasn't fun. Instead, it was frustrating and upsetting. You've likely lost her business. Her visitor had a negative experience in your store and in this city. Her business will not return. I was a regular customer who also recommended iTea for anyone who asked about where to get boba in Alameda. Not anymore. I hope this review sparks change in your staff's attitude towards providing good customer service to ALL of your customers. You have a Black Lives Matter sticker in your front window, I assumed that also meant that Black customers and their money deserve respect in your store. 3-stars because I don't want to be that person who only rates when bad experience happens, but!!! I ordered online, tipped. Arrived 15 minutes later and got no notifications on wether if my FOUR drinks were ready or not, i checked in with the cashier who looked so bothered standing there doing nothing. She told me my drinks were ready on the other side of the counter, not impolite but unfriendly, so I thanked her and went to pick up my drinks. Another worker pushed the drinks out one by one (4 drinks), and as she handed me the straw I thanked her, and asked if i could have a bag. Straight as she could be, 'a bag is 10 cent'. I was bothered since there's no option to pay for a bag online, so i thought they would offer alternative way to hold more than 2 drinks as once. NOPE. I did not even say anything to her and pulled out my phone ready to pay for the bag, she said 'cash only'. I said I do not have any cash with me, i ordered online, and asked if they have any paper tray. She said 'tray is also 10 cent'. I was like tf i tipped, you might not know that, but how on earth do you expect a single person to carry all 4 drinks efficiently? I consider myself a regular here. It's a solid choice and they deliver good drinks, good toppings and good snacks. I can't put much more stars because - frankly the service is - rude. So - despite the fact that I often visit and purchase multiple drinks at a time - they are not pleasant hosts and do not give pleasant service. Just basic rude AF service. Last time we came it was Christmas Eve -- and despite sign saying 5pm closing - they still let people in and order at 4:30/4:45pm. When we ordered Hokkaido or Okinawa which came with boba - they said their regular boba ran out - so we asked to replace with agar boba -- you'd think they'd skip the charge cuz they ran out of regular boba? NOPE. Still charged 75 cents for both drinks. When I put my phone number in - I had filled the stamp card - there was only 2 more drinks to the get the free one -- and this purchase was a 3 drink purchase - so i thought I'd get my free one that day--- NOPE AGAIN. Lady at the register said "no - you get it on the next one." -- which truthfully -- I don't even know if I will cuz the whole stupid stamp card screen was wiped out and had one new drink stamped. -- so do I have insurance receipt or assurance card? NOPE. Luckily we didn't have food - but that day - one of the ladies basically came out the back counter and went around yelling "HAPPY HOLIDAYS. WE ARE CLOSED NOW AND YOU CAN LEAVE" -- this one couple had 5 boxes of food still and had to carry their food out with their drinks. So - I guess - for the staff - if they wanted to leave at 5pm on Christmas Eve they should have closed their doors at 4pm. Not do that to their customers. Will I come back to order drinks here? Of course I will. Biggest iTea in the vicinity with seating. Do they deserve more stars? No. They give good drinks and snacks - and thats what they get their rating for. Bobba Tea; I was with my buddy and we drove over here; There is a bit of street parking a bit of parking in the rear. But the issue was the line. Man what a wait. There was about 10 people in front of us. The line here doesn't really move very fast. I get it they are busy but with 1 person taking orders and 4 people making them this place doesn't run very fast. I got the Pineapple Drink here; it was fine it was alright. I guess I'm just over the Tea spots I would rather have like an energy drink it's cheaper and taste better. This is a small spot and pretty busy but could be a good spot to drink or try the different foods and drinks here. The staff was very young and move at there own pace. I can see why people like it. I just thought it was over rated. It felt like a Tap X or any Boba Spot; I have heard it's the better of the places in Alameda so if you are craving something this would be the best spot to go to. I love coming to i-Tea! Hubby and I were at our usual boba place on the other side of Alameda, but they ended up not having an snacks today. We decided since we haven't been to i-Tea in a while to come by. We didn't get a drink since we got one somewhere else, but we love their drinks here as well. We came and got some popcorn chicken and egg puffs. We LOVE their popcorn chicken. For us, out of all the places we've had popcorn chicken at, i-Tea hands down has THE best popcorn chicken. This is our opinion. I love how crispy and juicy the chicken is. A lot of place is either crispy but dry, or juicy but not crispy. i-Tea is both crispy and juicy and we love it! I agree with a previous review about not being a fan of the paper cups. Can't see through when trying to get the last pieces of boba, mango or red bean out of there. We actually ended up not drinking one until the next day and it didn't leak through, so at least we know its durable. The front entrance is the street side with street parking, back entrance has a parking lot (preferred parking, tight spots). MY DRINK: PASSIONFRUIT FROSTY 50% SUGAR I've outgrown milk teas mostly because I'm lactose intolerant, but occasionally I'll give it a go. This drink is decent but honestly nothing out of this world, and for $6 I expected more passionfruit seeds and better consistency overall. The iTea in Oakland Chinatown is definitely more refined. Happy Hour is 8-10pm everyday (you get around $1 off or so), and they have an electronic stamp card system that rewards you with a free drink after 9 drinks are purchased (doesn't count drinks purchased during happy hour!!!) Pretty happening boba spot given how many have popped up in Alameda lately. Met up with my friend who likes his chrysanthemum tea with grass jelly and I ordered a fruit tea. I asked for mine with 30% sugar and 30% ice. It still tasted really sweet but I liked it overall. The store itself has games like Connect 4 that people can borrow and play at a table. There were also people on their computers doing homework or catching up with friends. There's a parking lot attached to where iTea is but there's also street parking if you come around 7 pm. Not about the food or drinks, but like everyone else on here, service is terrible. Unwelcoming, inappropriately rude to customers, using dirty swear words and middle fingers up in the air on us just because of napkin. I understand stanization is the key during the pandemic and everyone is just trying to keep clean and avoid contact, but they could've told the customer in a non-irrational way to not reach over the counter for items. Hello iTea!! Oh am I so glad you moved into our neighborhood! I first met your sister out in San francisco near where I worked. I actually don't like boba (ah! don't kill me!) and not a huge fan of expensive sugary drinks (calm down!) or calorie heavy milk teas (blasphemy!)... BUT... BUT... You are my favorite :) No really. Some boba places, the drinks are just not that good. Some places the drink cup is too small. But you have a nice variety of teas and juices and they actually taste pretty good. Love me some i-Tea! I feel like i-tea is consistent with their drinks and their sugar levels. But I also feel like the customer service might vary from location to location. Tieguanyin aka Iron Buddha (with either red bean, grass jelly, or coffee jelly) is my go-to drink. The basil popcorn chicken isn't usually dry for me but was dry this time. IMHO this place has the best popcorn chicken out of all boba places in Alameda. The garlic and basil reminds me of the popcorn chicken I had as a high schooler in Taiwan. DRINKS Favorites are: Signature C1 Milk Tea, Panda Milk Tea, Honey Brown Rice Milk Tea. They also have good non-caffeinated drinks, particularly taro. AMBIENCE They have board games that you can break out and play while you enjoy some boba & popcorn chicken. This place can get pretty packed at night especially around happy hour. Bonus is that there's a parking lot (adjacent to Walgreens and the Marketplace), which is definitely a plus compared to T4 and Gong Cha on Park Street, where parking can be a challenge depending on time of day. read more

This is a very tiny shop but I'm so happy they have a parking lot as it can be hard to find parking in this area. I got a mango sago and they were quick to call out my number. I used love the premium Lime tea, but no more from this location...it's the middle of winter ( citrus season) and they used to make it with fresh limes. Now all of a sudden it's a lime syrup with two wafer thin slices of the fruit, me thinks not...otherwise the are super efficient with the online service. You might as well drive the additional few miles from the Oakland Chinatown i-Tea location to this one because like other Yelpers said, everything about this location is BETTER !! I specifically came into iTea to try their Matcha Milk Tea, an item I havent seen on the menu before ! The girl at the register was so kind and PATIENT and helped me decide how I wanted my drink ! Im not a fan of red bean in my drinks so I opted out, but got the matcha pudding that comes with it! 80% sweetness and 30% ice according to the employee ! Can I just say W-O-W !! I was so impressed at how matcha-y the drink was and I had forgotten to ask for additional matcha powder ! The matcha pudding was also such an amazing pairing to the drink, not to sweet, but you could taste the matchaness if you chewed the pudding separately. I also got the matcha egg puff, which does include red bean bits also in the batter ! It was alright ! I recommend either asking for them to cook it for you longer or waiting for the egg puff to cool down if you're looking for that crunchy outside and chewey middle. Since I couldn't wait to eat my puff, I ate it right away and it was only chewey. I like T4's matcha egg puff more for the warm crunchy outside and chewey middle. Regardless, the egg puff is still worth imo because it's $4.50 compared to T4's more expensive price point. There's also a parking lot behind this location, so no need to fuss and buss about parking ! You can enter this i-Tea from two entrances, the back or front - how convenient ! Don't order online for an order to picked up later which is an option on the website. I ordered at 4:15 to be picked up at 5:05. 10 min later I receive a text saying my order is ready. I called the shop to let them know that I won't be there until 5:05 and she said that my order is ready. She said the online orders just print out and they make the drinks. She could see on her end that my pick up time was 5:05. She agreed to remake one of the drinks and then hung up on me. When I arrived, all the food was cold and the drinks were melted. She told me they would not be able to remake it. I told her that it shouldn't be an option to place an order for a later pick up if they can't honor that. I asked to speak to the manager and she again, told me that they don't have control over the system and that if I wanted hot food I Should order it closer to when I would arrive. I am well aware of that. . Passing off responsibility off to the customer is ridiculous. I spent $70 in total. The problem could have easily been remedied. Honestly this is my go to boba spot on the island. The food is good, my favorite is the popcorn chicken. The seasoning on the chicken is better than most places. Fruity drinks and milk teas are both so good. Today there was a bit of confusion on my order and I didn't get what I thought I had asked for. I didn't mind waiting and the worker was professional about double checking my receipt. The manager intervened and she was loud and rude about how I had messed up when I ordered. This isn't a one time occurrence, I have seen her be rude to other costumers before, but it was the first time towards me so I thought it was about time to review the place. They are pretty efficient especially because it can get very busy. They have the option to text to place order which is super convenient. I always text my order so by the time I get there my order is ready for pickup. Service wise the staff is friendly BUT I've noticed that whenever the owner or manager (not sure which she is) is there, the staff is on edge. One of my favorite boba shops! I love that this place opens decently late for late night catch up with friends. Also, there are variety of meals, snacks, and drinks! Everything is decently priced, especially during HH (from 8pm-10pm everyday)! There is a parking lot in the back too. I always see people getting mango sago drink, but never pulled the plunge because I just love my go to drink (roasted oolong milk tea). This day I decided to get it. I'm not sure what I was thinking, like this mango drink would be some kind of extraordinary mango drink, but it is literally mango puree with bits of mangos and sago in it. i-Tea has always been my go-to spot for boba and due to the constant lines that push out of the store, I am going to assume that it is the spot for others as well. i-Tea being a chain, does not have insanely different and unique boba from other stores, yet the boba itself is way above average, and is the most consistent boba shop in Alameda. I stopped in at that time to browse, and took a few photos for uploading, but I was not ready to prepare a review. The line was long, heading out the door. I did not order anything. Thus, I decided to wait until today to give the place a try. I have never been to the I-tea in Oakland Chinatown, so I did not know what type of impact the drinks would have on my health condition. Are all these drinks sugar-laden or what? What can I have as a beverage without worrying about the grams or amount of sugar? Ambiance: beautiful lighting and framed illustrations on the wall. Menu board mounted on the wall above eye level. Maximum seating: between 35 to 40 people. Unisex restroom facility to the rear of the business. Shelving units in the back had small jars of assorted teas. Snack menu mounted on the counter in front of the cashier. Trays of pre-made sushi stored in opened-type refrigerated case to the left of front door entrance. (I saw two employees loading them into the refrigerated case from cardboard boxes yesterday.) Ordering the beverages was done quickly; however, the wait was at least 15 minutes. I was holding receipt #197. Strange how some of the food orders by other customers who ordered after I did, were able to pick up their items before me. Hmmm! Beverages: 1 fresh taro milk tea with no sugar and 1 litchi green tea with 30% sugar. Cost: $5.44 including tax. Taro milk tea had boba and bits of fresh taro; litchi green tea had boba, QQ jelly and chopped up pieces of litchi (lychee). My sister said the litchi green tea was too sweet. It was just okay, nothing to write home about. We both agree that Chai Thai in Oakland has a better tasting lychee tea. My fresh taro milk tea was also okay. It had a milky taste - not much on the taro taste. I also had better elsewhere. Cleanliness: Grade A for the most part, with the exception the restroom. Floor had at least three toilet paper liners and pieces of toilet paper. Okay, I was nice. I picked up the toilet paper liners and disposed of them in the garbage can. It's nice they have free parking in the back. Parking is difficult on Park Street. Return trip? Maybe, then maybe not. It depends on my mood. read more

This has become my go-to spot for boba during the COVID-19 pandemic. It's the closest, decent boba place close to me with a parking lot and an easy system to order from. I highly recommend texting them ~30 minutes before you show up so that you can just walk in and walk out. You probably don't want to be hanging outside amongst a crowd during these times. I normally get fruit teas, but during the pandemic, I've switched to milk teas since my mom wants me to reheat/boil all outside food -_- The quality of their drinks has remained consistent. The owner at I-team is very mean person, after have some food and milk tea, I asked her for restroom, she said no right away, I told her I have 2 hours for driving, I please her for me to used it. But no, she said don't ask me why... I don't think this is a good place to come. read more
