    Mango matcha
    Erica L.

Surprisingly better than I thought it would be! The matcha was decent and regular sweetness is not too sweet. I got less ice and it was perfect. After mixing the mango in, there was definitely some mango flavor but it wasn't strong. The chunks of mango didn't fit in the straw though and I could tell it was frozen chunks that were defrosted.

Great Tea opened recently in Yomie's Rice & Yogurt's long vacated space. Just order & go. No seating inside or out. No posted menu. Just ask the aunties on duty what was best seller. She pointed it out on the ordering kiosk. Offerings (boba tea, fruit teas): fresh milk tea, handcrafted organic tea with fresh fruit, fresh fruit organic tea with cream, handcrafted organic tea with fresh fruit. Didn't see snacks.. Sips: Pomelo with Mango & Coconut Milk(6.95) no sugar, less ice -came out in 6ish minutes. Could easily see the various layers: pomelo fruit on top, coconut milk with sago pearls in the middle, mango fruit on bottom. -didn't see/taste ice, must have been blended with fruit or coconut milk. Sugar natural taste. Definitely no sugar added. Small sagos tender. A + *advisory of cup: "consume in half hour". Saw it a few hours later. **only shook it a little. Probably would have tasted a more nuanced. 4.5 stars Worthy! Quantity: 24 oz. Great value. Quality: better than other boba shops. Fresh fruits used. Not juices nor purées...

I walked in and ordered on the screen. I got a regular milk tea with boba, 0% sugar and light ice. After you pay, the owner or staff comes out to greet you and start the order. The owner was working today and she was so nice as we conversed. I asked her for more tea and less milk ratio. She made sure that I was okay with 0% sugar because it won't be as sweet. Which is good because I am trying to limit my sugar! The drink was prepared quick and with care. It was DELICIOUS. The boba is so soft and chewy. The drink had sweetness from the brown sugar from the boba so trust me you don't need sugar. She gives a good amount of boba! Yay! The owner is so kind and understanding as we conversed about other things. Definitely give this place a try!!

When I heard another boba shop had opened in Oakland, I was honestly very skeptical. The city is definitely not lacking in boba shops, and with Golden Tea shop being very close by, I had high expectations going in. However, I ended up being pleasantly surprised by the drinks. The lychee drink was freshly blended, and I could taste the lychee bits as I consumed the drink. The crema also paired pretty well with the drink, and it felt fresh. I would say the boba was a little less flavorful than I would have preferred. The osmanthus drink was my personal favorite. I really liked the purple rice (reminded me of a traditional Malaysian dessert), and the tea flavor was strong enough to balance out the milk. We did get a puffle waffle as well (as part of their grand opening deal), but this unfortunately fell short. The waffle was pretty mushy (not as crispy waffle texture), and oddly over-salted but under-sugared. It was also really eggy tasting. It wasn't my favorite, but if some modifications are made to the flavor and length of time cooked, I am sure this will also be a hit!

I came across this place on my way to the bus stop. The woman who was working there was so kind and helpful with placing my order. It was my first time there, and didn't know what to get. She gave me in-depth descriptions about how some of the drinks were made, which made it easy for me to pick a flavor. The place is small, but their quality of their drinks can't be beat! They use FRESH FRUIT for their drinks-- she even showed me the fruits they had on rotation that day. I think it's very easy to tell when a shop uses powders so this is something I really value. I'll definitely be back to try more flavors!

The place smells like egg puffs in the best way! Very fresh and a short wait. Less than 10 minutes. A new drink place in the Pacific Renaissance Plaza Shopping Center in the heart of Oakland Chinatown.

Tall cup, matcha creme brulee half sugar was enough sweetness

Boba under $6! Fast and friendly service. The drinks come in the tall cups, the ipad was easy to use, and it was a local family shop. The drinks weren't too sweet at half sugar, which was perfect for me. The secret egg waffles were hot and fresh to eat.

Really tasty! Real fruits in the fruit teas. Got the 2 drinks for 1 free egg waffle deal.

Delicious tiger brown sugar boba with sea salt creamer and milk tea

Yummy milk tea with bouncy boba. On top they are just open with free egg puffs when buying boba drink. Nice owners and workers. Attentive and explaining nicely their drinks and ingredients. Look for Kaylee. She is exceptional!

I pedaled my bike over there this Wednesday morning, aiming to secure a proper breakfast that would actually carry me past 11 a.m. The shop is cozy, definitely on the smaller side with a few seats inside, giving it that familiar, neighborhood spot feel. It's not a sprawling, antiseptic café, and I appreciate that. I ordered the Laney Breakfast Sandwich, which features egg, fresh spinach, sliced turkey, and Swiss cheese on a toasted English muffin. What impressed me was the intentionality--this wasn't something sitting under a heat lamp, looking defeated. It was clearly made to order. The egg was seasoned right, the turkey wasn't flimsy, and the spinach added that necessary fresh bite. It was a damn good sandwich, simple as that. I paired that with the Berry Lovers Smoothie. The original recipe calls for banana, but I asked if they could swap that out for mango. My people know that mango adds a different kind of sunshine, and they executed the substitution flawlessly. It came out thick, perfectly blended--a rich mix of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and that mango kick. It was super refreshing and didn't taste like I was drinking melted ice. The service was quick and friendly, which is key on a weekday morning. Everything tasted clean, fresh, and intentionally prepared. If you're looking for high-quality breakfast fare that feels less commercial and more like something someone actually cares about, stop by. The short bike ride and the intimate seating are worth it for what comes out of that kitchen. They earned this review.

Later on, they sold dried fruits also. Eventually they sold hot foods like popcorn chicken, curry fish balls and different boba drinks. They have seatings as well. Their boba drinks had became so popular that they opened locations in Berkeley, San Francisco and Milpitas. I love their bobas, it's sweet, bouncy and great chewing texture. They used to have small tapioca options which I had loved, but it isn't an option anymore. All their drinks are pretty good so you can't be wrong what drinks you choose. I highly recommend their drinks and their popcorn chicken. I will definitely come back and try other drinks as well.

The milk tea quality honestly was ok. I am not sure why I tasted a hint of thai tea lol but I did not mind. The boba quality was great. Perfect texture and I love how chewy it is. Plus they gave a good boba proportion! The popcorn chicken was not spicy enough for me so I used the powder they had near the seating area. I think they try to not make it too spicy because a lot of families and kiddos order it so they probably don't want to make it very spicy. You can sit here too as you wait or as you eat. Staff are typical - not overly friendly but not cold. They are ready to work and hustle! Many childhood memories associated with this place. It has remained a place I will always come back to.

I really hate to have to write this review but Cafe Da Fonk! needs to get it together:(…read more Came here on a Saturday and was really stoked since I wanted to go to their location in SF but noticed they moved to Oakland and I happened to be in the area this day. Our orders were taken and we sat down to wait. There were a TON OF FLIES buzzing around and I kept having to wave them off especially when we got our order to the table, which honestly was gross. We were called to pick up our order, but only 1 of the 4 items was ready: Zadie's Masterpiece Breakfast Sando - Really tasty and enjoyed the biscuit it was on. Skimpy on the bacon, there was ONE piece but overall good breakfast sandwich. Next item ready 5 minutes later: Khadija's Slow Burn Harissa Hot Honey Breakfast Burrito - Really tasty. Definitely flavor packed and would order this again. *BUT there was an issue. Apparently the person that ordered before us asked for the same burrito to go...they NEVER got it and yet our order was ready. The person was pretty cool about it but they were definitely annoyed and gave us a look although it wasn't our fault. *The ordering system seems unorganized with the cashier writing orders on a slip of receipt paper and putting them on a stand by the kitchen. I wonder if the slips were out of order or fell and they skipped this persons to go order? IDK but they need a better system! We tried waiting for our coffees before starting to eat but then our food started getting cold...YOU KNOW WHY?... because the poor person that was taking orders was also in charge of making drinks. Having one person as cashier and barrista is NOT a good idea on a busy Saturday morning. It was hard for them to take a moment and focus on the drinks becuase people kept coming in an placing orders which means we waited for 20+ minutes before getting our drinks. By then our food was mostly eaten! Thankfully we noticed they had a water pitcher for free water which was a saving grace! The wait for drinks was so long that people that were already sitting when we arrived and had already eaten their food were JUST getting their drinks before us. HORRIBLE! I felt really bad for the cashier/barista :( Another turn off, there is no understanding on what to do with dirty dishes. Do we bus our table? If so where do we put it? We noticed people leaving plates by the water pitcher and cups, some put them on the long counter by the coffee area. There wasn't a garbage or compost bin, so we weren't sure where to put food scraps. There was a bin for "Plastic Only" but only the cup lids were plastic and the cup itself was paper, so where TF do you put that? We noticed a black plastic bin that someone had brought out from the back, so we placed our stuff in there but wasn't exactly sure. We tried to ask the cashier/barista but they were slammed with customers so we ccouldn't get their attention. IDK the place is just poorly organized and messy! There are tables for people to make artwork which is nice but on a busy Saturday it might have been nice to clean those areas up to allow people to sit. Sorry guys... *You need a dedicated barista! People waiting 20+ minutes for drinks is insane especially when the food comes out relatively fast. *Please clean up your restaurant. The amount of flies was gross and no one wants to swat them away from food & drinks. *Tell people if they should bus their own tables and if so.... *Make it clear where to leave plates, cups, garbage, compost etc.
