I've been a fan of Boba Guys for many years, often seeking them out even if it's not conveniently located to me. Before they opened in Oakland, we used to drive to San Ramon for Boba Guys and it never disappointed. Over the years, this has started to feel run down. Took a picture of the waiting bench and attached to this review. I truly hope it doesn't go out of business because I'm a fan of the company, but it's so dirty and feels bare. Perhaps management can come in and give this place a little love so it still feels like a special experience to choose Boba Guys over the many, many boba competitors.

Their tapioca boba balls are made in the states (instead of imported from overseas) and the way they prepare them are just right. Perfect amount of chew with a soft bounce that is not overcooked. Be aware that they use lactose milk so if you can't stomach that in your lattes, you'll need to pay extra to sub in a non-dairy milk. On this visit I ordered the mango matcha iced latte with boba and almond milk. It was a refreshing and quality drink on a hot and sunny day. Note that this place is only an ordering counter with 1 electronic kiosk. There's no tables inside, only bench seats along the walls to await your order. No pets allowed inside either.

Calibrate your sweetness and get your boba fix on! Ordered the following: 1. Rose Black Tea with Boba The price is on the premium side, aka boba is extra $, and they do have snacks to purchase from next to the cashier. The restaurant is clean.

Strawberry Fresca with almond jello is the absolute best drink at boba guys! My go-to

This is my go to stop for some boba when I'm leaving the bay. Street parking is always tough to find but they have a parking lot in the back. It's currently under construction so there's only a few spots. My go to drink is the strawberry Fresca with almond jelly and unfortunately they were all out of almond jelly this day. The workers were super sweet and said it was being made, but hadn't set yet. They offered a replacement topping and came to find out they have new toppings! Edible mochi and grass jelly. I got the grass jelly as the edible mochi was a bit too slimy/chewy for me and it complimented the drink really well. Pretty similar in texture to almond jelly but with a different flavor. I still think almond jelly goes best with the strawberry Fresca, but if they ever run out again (which I never hope they do) I'll be getting grass jelly.

Very modern and nice location on College Ave. You start by ordering at the kiosk inside. You can choose between specialties, fruit Frescas, matcha and hojicha, coffees, hot tea, Asian snacks and more. I ordered a summer seasonal special, The Mango Fields. Wow. It took less than a minute for them to call my name out. The drink is delicious. What stood out was the plentiful mango puree, which gave it a strong and sweet, emphasize on sweet, base. Not to mention great quality. Definitely recommend and will be back to explore new drinks! I had trouble choosing which to get over all their options! Here are a few things to keep in mind. - "boba" is not served until 11:30 - Cash is not accepted - Parking is scarce

I don't think this needs to be on a high standard. Boba guys is just good all around. It's decent boba, chewy, not too sweet, with decent tea. I think if you're just craving boba and you're indecisive, boba guys is a great option. They also have a wide variety of drinks and they make decent milk/fruit teas too. I feel like usually it's one or the other, but, here, it's BOTH.

Another success story. Our daughter took us here and we ordered at her suggestion, and everything was better than it looked. And that would be hard to do because it all looked so amazing. The place was clean. It was easy to navigate the menu and plenty of selections I've made sure I tried some of those spicy Chinese peanuts that they had up on the rack on the counter and that was a nice first for me. I'll definitely stop by here again on my next visit in the area.

Horchata and Korean Banana Milk with Boba

Boba Guys provides decent Boba although it is pretty high priced. For a Horchata and a Korean Banana Milk both with Boba, each were $8. What stood out immediately from each drink was that the flavors were good but also lacking. Even at 100% sweetness, each drink felt like they lacked that extra kick that would cause me to crave even more. Both were solid but could've been even better. Aside from that, the service was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. The atmosphere of the place was also pretty chill. I think this spot is somewhere that's great for the area that it's in, but is something nobody should ever fill the need to gout of the way for. As a result, I'm giving Boba Guys a 3/5.

Great boba and add ins! Ordered at a kiosk and got the strawberry matcha latte (less sweet, less ice) with boba and mochi. The strawberry was a bit overpowering compared to the matcha but the drink was overall good! Definitely on the pricier end for boba though.

Very cute location! Staff are friendly too. Might be difficult to park here though... My drink recommendations are the Hong Kong Milk Tea, Matcha Latte, and the Strawberry Jasmine Fresca. I got the Tie Guan Yin Oolong Milk Tea with Boba this visit and it was just okay. Too much milk and not enough tea flavor. I really loved the texture of the boba though! Perfect QQ.

Do they have the aardvark plush toy?

As of a few days ago, I did see it on their shelves! Only saw one though -- maybe they have more behind the counter?

I remembered that decision as we drove down Claremont on our way to Sweet Maria's. On our way back up, we stopped off at Souvenir Coffee for a couple of sandwiches and one coffee. The ambiance and service were top notch. Also, there's usable WiFi. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon as an add-on, and then muttered something about a macchiato. After the person taking my order repeated back my drink as a cortado, I agreed that a cortado would be an even better choice than the macchiato that I had in my mind's eye. The cortado came out first, followed not long afterwards by our sandwiches. Both the drink and the grilled cheese sandwich were excellent; we clearly had a 5-star experience. Souvenir Coffee struck me more as a drink place with a few food items than as a lunch destination. I know the high reputation of the sandwiches at the Star Grocery next door. If Souvenir is be OK with my combining an espresso drink with a Star sandwich, I'll try that next.

My friend ordered an oat milk latte and I chose the hot chocolate. It tasted fine, but I'd say it was warm rather than hot. I also tried the sticky bun, which was pretty good. While we were sitting at a table in the corner, the power went out, and a few minutes later, everyone was asked to leave. It was a perfectly polite request and they did explain that it was for safety reasons; still, I think it would have been a nice gesture if they had said "here's a voucher for a free beverage of your choice" next time.

The cafe is a community watering hole. A mix of neighbors hanging out, students and working folks on their computers, families dropping by--just a steady flow of customers. The cafe isn't too big. There are tables inside for pairs, as well as some outdoor dining--definitely a cozy neighborhood charm to it. To drink, I opted for one of their specials. I got an Iced Maple Chai with Soy Milk. The drink was on the sweeter side, with barely any chai flavor. It also didn't come with any peculiar ice. My friend got her own drink and noted it was pretty intense, with minimal seasonal flavoring. I guess we were expecting a bit more from a popular spot! Cole Coffee is a neighborhood favorite. Find them on the corner of 63rd with residential street parking. Glad my best friend and I could go, but not sure if I'll be back!

When I go into a cafe, dishes usually include sandwiches, baked sweets, pancakes or waffles. But there are times when I look at the menu and I'm trying to wake up, so I want a simpler menu. Here, they have the toast with butter. Yes, this is the perfect dish for the moment that I tend to have when choosing the first meal of the day. I also love their other menu, which is the toast with a canned fish. The cafe also sells these alongside coffee beans. The toast is sliced thick with a generous smear of butter. The toast surface has a golden shine from the melted butter. Every bite has a juicy butter taste. On the side of toast is a side of a beautiful semi-boiled egg with a runny yolk -- my favorite type of way to eat yolks. Next time, when I visit here, I will definitely try the canned fish and eat that for breakfast. That is another good breakfast menu I would love to have and try with a cup of coffee.

The good: Their vanilla latte is genuinely good. Flavorful, balanced, and not overly sweet. The food is decent too. The bad: Why is a vanilla latte pushing $7 these days and still arriving nowhere near the top of the cup? When I asked about it, I was told it's just one ice cube short of the normal volume. But consistently? Maybe that's what they mean by Ain't Normal. My bigger issue is the service. Maybe I've caught them on off days, but the staff has consistently come off with a bit of attitude. Nobody needs a parade when they order coffee, but a little warmth goes a long way, especially when you're charging specialty coffee prices. At the end of the day, the coffee is good enough that I've come back more than once. I just wish the cups were fuller and the customer service matched the quality of the drinks.
