Overall, the desserts were pretty good. We wanted to try everything and definitely ordered too much, lol! The mango pomelo sago with tofu was refreshing and delicious. The mochi rice balls with sesame paste and black sticky rice were also great. The Taro Balls No. 5 was good as well. I swapped the taro mud for sweet potato mud and added a side of black sticky rice. I also tried the coconut pudding, but it wasn't my favorite. Coconut lovers would probably enjoy it more; it was just a bit too creamy for me. The restaurant was bright, not too big, but comfortable. Service was good, and the staff were very nice and accommodating, especially with my customization request.

Craving asian dessert? Their menu is huge and has so many options that I had such a hard time deciding what to get. Not only that, but they also have drinks, bowls and much more! Came here with a group of people and we got an assortment of items - Milk Custard hot - Yes it sounds strange, but I really enjoyed it. Has a slight smell of egg whites and even the texture hahah but its sweet and delicious - Original Egg Puff - very delicious and great to pair it with a warm item. - Taro bowls - they have many options and they were very good and very filling Overall food was good and the price is great. So why not 5/5 stars? FOOD INSPECTION!!! When we were there they had a Conditional Pass on the window and while there we did observe some things that could be considered not sanitary. After doing some research this is NOT their first time in this situation. With that said I don't mind BUT all food places should be sanitary.

Great spot for a HUGE variety of Chinese desserts in Oakland Chinatown. My friend and I stopped by for a quick sweet bite after grabbing dinner nearby. The store was maybe half full when we came Friday evening around 6 pm, but by the time we left it was fully packed. Seems to be a popular hang out spot for the local kids and families. Honestly the menu has almost too many options for dessert. We both spent a good 10+ minutes flipping through all the pages before finally deciding on what we wanted. It was quite overwhelming. I finally settled on the sesame paste and walnut paste ($7.25) while my friend got the mango pomelo coconut pudding ($5.50). The pudding came out quickly because it's premade in the jar, but my paste took a while, maybe 10-15 minutes. I love sesame paste and wanted to try walnut paste. I didn't like the walnut paste, but I'm glad I tried it at least. The black sesame paste was delicious! My friend enjoyed his coconut pudding but thought it was pricy for what it was.

My review is of just their egg puff since I have yet to try their boba. There is space for around 20 people to sit in the dessert place, but most people seemed to get their food to-go in the time that I was waiting there. I ordered their normal egg puff, and they made it fresh right in front of me. The portion size made sense with the price, and I enjoyed the texture of the puff along with the sweetness. Because it was fresh, the egg puff was slightly crumbly, but only breaking by the different puffs. I'd love to try their boba in their future since they are also know for their drinks.

UC Dessert is in Oakland Chinatown on 9th Street between Webster and Frankin, on the outer block of the Pacific Renaissance Plaza. It's not a huge space but has some setting and is a good place for traditional hot and cold Chinese desserts. When I've gone I've ordered some of the cold desserts, Chinese shaved ice (bing su) or their cold mango dessert. They have Chinese dessert soups which are good and not too sweet. They have cakes on their menu but I've never tried those. My wife and I also like their egg puffs, which are made using a waffle-like machine but also uses a different batter. When I've been the service has been pretty good. Check them out!

Their dessert selection was delightful, offering a great variety of flavors and textures. The seating area is cozy, accommodating about four to five groups of four to six guests, which adds to the intimate atmosphere. The staff member who served us was friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. I especially loved the durian with ice cream and coconut base rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. It's a wonderful spot to enjoy an evening dessert after dinner. Parking is convenient, with options available in the plaza or along the street. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to satisfy their sweet cravings in a relaxed setting.

I tried InjeoImi Bingsoo (shaved ice Korean style)and it was good not too sweet a good combination of ingredients. The house milk tea (UC Milk Tea) that has good flavorKind service and seating capacity. Large menu with abundant deserts with various flavors. The small restaurant provides amenities like ac, bathroom, and wall plug, clean tables. I'll be sure to be back to broaden my tastebuds!

Went here on a Friday night and it was crowded but we were able to get a spot in the booth! There are 4/5 booths and two high chairs for seating. They have a ton of desserts options. My friends and I ordered the matcha mochi egg puff & mochi rice ball with sesame paste. You should eat the mochi rice ball with sesame paste right away because it will still be warm. Both desserts were good and service was good as well! I would come back here! There's only street parking here too.

Delicious!! Chia mango with sticky rice is my new favorite! ! Very cozy place even though it's small there's plenty of places to sit and eat. The staff is very kind and takes good care of you. This is my daughter's favorite spot to come on the weekends.

Lots of menu options for dessert! The lava cake and ice cream was yummy, I just wish it was a larger portion for its price! But beautiful plating.

UC Dessert is a bit small and probably won't be able to seat large groups of people (unless you don't mind sitting at different tables) but it's perfect for small groups who are looking for a quick dessert. We came around 7/8PM on a weekday and it was not busy until a little bit after we came inside and had already gotten our order. They have a huge selection of dessert options, but my friends and I knew from the start we wanted bingsu. The portion was smaller to previous places we have tried, but it ended up being the perfect size for the three of us. We usually aren't able to finish our bingsu, but we were able to eat everything this time and it was delicious.

I was craving Hong Kong style dessert so we found this place after we saw all the meet fresh's near us were closed. UC Dessert has a lot of options--we were staring at the menu for at least five minutes while the server stood ready to take our order. We ordered M01, a mix of taro balls, taro chunks, red bean, grass jelly, and boba, served with a cute pitcher of coconut sauce. They definitely could have given us more taro balls, but I was satisfied with the spread. We also ordered the black sticky rice and black sesame paste combo, and I requested to add sago in it. This one was served hot, and it was super comforting as the evening started to get chilly. I thought it could have been a tad less sweet, but the flavors were so reminiscent of this dish when I had it in China. We absolutely devoured and left happy and full.

I got the New York cheesecake, sweet potato cake, peach cobbler, and chocolate chip walnut cookie. The New York cheesecake was incredible. The tang of the cream cheese was prominent and refreshing, emphasized by the thick layer of sour cream on top. The crust was thin but crispy and the cake was a beautiful golden brown. Easily the best thing I ate from this place. The sweet potato cake was very alike a carrot cake but a bit richer. The cake was moist and not very sweet potato forward but nicely spiced. In between the two layers of cake and on top of them was a thick layer of cream cheese frosting. Even as someone with a major sweet tooth, I found the sugar level of the frosting to be way too much for the amount I was given. After eating this slice, I would not want to eat sugar for a week at least. The peach cobbler was not to my taste. I prefer a crispier topping, and found that the cobbler was just mush with some peaches. It was well spiced, but I found the flavor a bit perfume-like. We popped it in the oven to crisp it up and, though it was improved, I still did not enjoy the flavor or mushy texture. The chocolate chip and walnut cookie was classic and comforting, but very well done. The cookie itself was nutty and well toasted, which balanced beautifully with the slight bitterness of the chocolate chips. The walnuts added to the crunch of the cookie but the cookie itself was on the softer side with a slight crisp around the edges. Overall, I would definitely go back and try more desserts. There were so many options and even then most things were already sold out. It's a cute and small bakery that definitely has some tasty surprises!

Overall, it's been a good experience every time. Parking can be challenging depending on the time of day. Most of the parking is on the street, so you'll need to keep an eye out for pedestrians and bicyclists while looking for a spot. That's probably the biggest inconvenience of visiting this place. There is usually a 15 to 20-minute wait whenever we come for dessert, but we've always been seated within the quoted wait time, which we appreciate. The restaurant itself is fairly small, so the dining area can feel crowded. Tables are very close together, and you're practically sitting back-to-back with other guests. Because of this, the noise level can get pretty high, and it's easy to overhear conversations from nearby tables. The desserts are the highlight here. The BingSu is excellent, and the lava cake is one of our favorites. The menu is accessed through a QR code, making ordering simple and convenient. Food portions are decent, although prices are definitely on the premium side. Service is efficient, and the food and desserts usually arrive pretty quickly. We used to go to their city location regularly, but over the years we've found ourselves visiting this location more often because the area feels more comfortable and convenient for us. That has made this our go-to spot whenever we're craving dessert. Overall, this is a great place for dessert. The quality of the desserts keeps us coming back, but the difficult parking situation and cramped seating prevent it from being a full 5-star experience. Would definitely return for the BingSu and lava cake.

My personal favorite is the Kyoto Matcha - the matcha is high-quality, with a vivid green color and rich flavor that balances beautifully with the creamy cheesecake base. The Original is a classic for a reason with deeply caramelized top and creamy interior. I also tried the Iribancha, a roasted green tea flavor. It's intense, smoky, and unique..maybe not one I could finish in one sitting, but definitely memorable and recommend for those who want that earthy/smoky taste. There are so many inventive options on any given day, and there are always exciting new ones to try at each visit! I was inspired to finally write a review after hearing about some weirdos getting up in arms about a correctly-named ice cream inspired by a local legend, but to be honest this review was long overdue regardless because the ice cream really is worth it. If you're sensitive to lactose at all (even short of being intolerant), you'll most likely notice a difference in how good you feel after eating Bad Walter's compared to other dairy ice creams. I talk about this place to friends all the time, I don't think you can go wrong with anything they have here. Highly recommend subscribing to Sydney's newsletter to get the inside scoop (haha) on the goings-on behind the scenes plus getting the first look at the weekly menu, because sometimes the one on the website isn't updated as often!

This place is truly in a class of its own and its positive attributes are many. Lactose free! Rotating, seasonal, inventive flavors! Strongly rooted in community! Good sense of humor! Knows how to properly execute a peanut butter swirl!!! My ice cream intake has increased by 100% since the brick and mortar opened, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I originally came in for Dubai inspired chocolate pistachio cheesecake but was instead greeted so warmly by head pastry chef Nile! She is full of life and so passionate about her baked goods. I almost wanted to buy one of everything after hearing about each item. Desserts: *Blueberry Ube Cheesecake *Pistachio Ricotta Cake *Dubai Pistachio Chocolate Cake with Biscoff Cookie Butter *Red Velvet Cheesecake Cup Nile just baked the Dubai cake and mentioned she would have a slice for herself that night. It was sweet and decadent for sure. Definitely perfect for sharing! I loved the blueberry ube cheesecake and so did Mom! I was looking for my leftovers and they disappeared from the fridge. Creamy and slightly fruity with that thick buttery crust-- amazing! Pistachio Ricotta cake was light and moist. Perfect when you want something delicately sweetened for tea time. Red Velvet cheesecake cup was just ok for me due to the cheesecake frosting. I think I would've preferred a whole slice of cake instead. This bakery kiosk is a part of Turkish-Mediterranean restaurant Moussaka. Interior has the cutest cafe tables and chairs. Love the grey with baby pink + mint green color scheme. Step inside and go directly to the dessert display to place an order. They're also on DoorDash. Can't wait to see what Chef Nile comes up with next!

Jamie W and I decided to pay a visit after our gym workout because we figured we could reward ourselves for breaking a sweat. Arriving in the last hour before closing, we were happily anticipatory that their display case was still well stocked. It was no surprise how gorgeous it was. We had seen the Instagram photos of the visually striking, trompe l'oeil "fruit" pastries (Photo 6). They were indeed mini-works of art with thin, white-chocolate shells that easily crack open to reveal appropriately sweet fillings. We limited ourselves to four items because we didn't want to get carried away...literally. Besides, they weren't cheap. Our priciest item was the $14.50 Peanut shaped like a giant peanut shell and filled with a light peanut butter mousse. There was also a strawberry gelee and a crisp peanut butter wafer that helped reflect the intended PBJ concept. It was just a bit sweet for me. The second item, the $12 Coconut, was my favorite. It was designed to look like a perfectly cracked open coconut with the outer hull made of textured milk chocolate and the "meat" made of white chocolate (Photo 7). The macapuno entremet core reflected co-owner Monique Feybasse's Filipino background. It consisted of coconut whipped cream mousse freckled with macapuno and coconut shavings, and a chocolate coconut sponge cake. The entirety was a true tropical experience. The $8.50 Pistachio Eclair was the most straightforward of the quartet with a golden pate-a-choux shell, pistachio pastry cream with a matcha-like powder, and chopped pistachios (Photo 10). The basic approach taken was enhanced by the quality of the execution. The $4.50 Madeleine was a comparative bargain and quite a treat, providing a soft-crumbed sponge cake covered in a pistachio coating shaped like a seashell (Photo 9). Monique and her husband Paul clearly know what they're doing, having extensive experience in Michelin-starred restaurants like the acclaimed Geranium in Copenhagen. On Sunday afternoon, there was a constant stream of customers, many of them regulars who knew exactly what to order. FOOD - 4 stars...craftsmanship and execution are aces, some satisfy more than others, also a bit pricey AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...crowded so hard to tell beyond the striking displays SERVICE - 4 stars...nice though necessarily transactional TOTAL - 4 stars...definitely an eyeful even more than a mouthful RELATED - Exploring Oakland?
