Came after 9pm on a Saturday. The area wasn't too busy at that time so we found street parking easily. We ordered on the tablet and our drinks came out about 10 minutes later. I ordered the Mandro Milk Tea with boba and 30% sweetness. Overall, the drink was okay. The boba was a little hard. We love Mandro for a tasty bingsu dessert. Mango is our go-to. On a cold Dec bight, nobody in the place. You order at a kiosk, which I hate, take a seat and wait about 5-10 mins. We came here after lunch next door at a Thai restaurant and decided to split a matcha red bean bingsoo. You order through the kiosk and the order comes out fairly quickly. I had no idea they have a MandRo Teahouse in Alameda but I'm glad it does. I normally go to the ones in Fremont and Milpitas so I know that people come here for Bingsoo (Korean shaved ice). Although it's using Korean name but I'm fairly certain the owner is actually Chinese. The shaved ice here is extremely fine and as a result super smooth and delicious. I prefer this over the coarse Hawaiian shaved ice. My favorite is the matcha or original flavor but a lot of people seem to order the mango one. This location seems to be much less crowded than the other places and has more seating as well. However parking can be a pain because of limited street parking and its location. If youre cravinf bingsoo then this is def the place to go. When you walk in they have seating and a kiosk where you order, not sure if they take cash since I didnt really see any register behind their counter or anyone working the counter, only workers making your order. It is a bit quiet in there cause there was no music but the vibes were still very casual. Bingsoo was great! Creamy and light and the shaved ice was just perfect to compared to others ive tried where its just too watery. The different flavors portions are portioned good and mixed throughout the ice so its just not on top (for those who never had it before) . MandRo's Mango Bingsoo is my favorite for its light and fluffy texture. Also, the mangos are paired with snowflake ice which reminds me of Hawaiian shaved ice. It's a really popular spot for dessert especially for Asian Americans. The ambiance is very calming and the air always smells so fresh and feels cool inside the dessert shop most likely to preserve the iced menu options. I love how efficient ordering from their menu is. Overview: Honestly the BEST dessert place in Alameda ---- Firstly, I LOVE BINGSOO. I'm so happy that we finally have a bingsoo place in Alameda without having to drive outside of our little island. Located on Park Street, MandRo Teahouse is where the old Bambu used to be, and in my opinion, is the perfect replacement for them. Parking can be a bit tough so a lot of people park in the CVS parking lot (or street parking) and just walk over. I've been here multiple times and each time I leave happy and satisfied. The portions are large even for their regular sized bingsoo. Prices depends on what flavor you order, from the cheapest to the most expensive for their regular sized binsoo are: - Injeolmi, Chocolate, and Matcha Red Bean $12.75 - Mango and Strawberry $13.95 Upgrading to the large size is just $3 more (it will be a literal mountain of bingsoo, regular is a lot for sharing but if you really love bingsoo, go for it!). I recommend ordering a side of extra condensed milk for $0.50 each. You order at a kiosk and when your order is ready they send out a text and call your number out. Their service is pretty quick when they aren't busy, I recomend NOT coming when Alameda High is at lunch or right when they get out because that's when they can get a bit busy. There are quite a few tables but they can fill up fast with students coming in at lunch. It's perfect for an after-dinner treat or on the weekends! After an underwhelming dinner. Mandro knocked it out of the park. I had never had bingsoo and it is so amazing. There were kinda busy, and it took 15/20 minutes for the order to come out. But it was totally worth the wait. The texture of the snow is so fluffy. The fruit was fresh and sweet. The add ons were great. Condensed milk, almonds and strawberry sauce. The boba sucked. The bingsu (cold water - meaning ice, more like freshly fallen snow) is what we come here for - really the "Mango Bingsu" with an extra container of milked down condensed milk, comes with one but we need an extra. My friend and I came 30 mins before closing after having dinner close by. First you walk in and there is only a kiosk there. I was lost at first, but my friend just followed the people ahead of us. My friends and I stopped by Mandro on a Friday evening around 9:20 p.m. and the dessert shop was pretty crowded. There wasn't anyone at the counter so we ordered through the self-service kiosk. Unfortunately for the staff working at Mandro that evening, the machine printing out orders actually broke down, resulting in customers having to repeat their order so it could be written down and sent in to the kitchen. The short-staffing at Mandro definitely contributes to long waits: we waited close to 45 minutes before we received our single dessert -- the injeolmi shaved snow with a side of mangos. The dessert itself was really well made. The shaved snow was light and fluffy, the ripe mangos were sweet, and the rice cakes had a nice chew to them. They were really thoughtful in the construction of the dessert -- layering the shaved snow with scoops of red bean, so you don't end up in a situation where you only have snow at the bottom without any toppings. I would stop by Mandro again for Asian desserts, but possibly aim to go during an off-hour when they might not be as busy. read more
