I got the black tea salted cheese with boba. Left and walked about a street away as I drank. The boba was melted and really mushy. I hateeeee going back to "complain" LOL but it was REALLY BAD. And they didn't even give me that much boba. I went back and asked the cashier (she was not the one who originally made my drink). She completely understood and said maybe it was newer batch of boba that hasn't cooled down. This time I got mango crystal boba. The cashier immediately made my drink. MUCH BETTER! I usually come here all the time because I actually like the drinks, but I've finally had enough. 9/10 times the employees here are incredibly rude. They never greet you when you walk in, they don't even look up or make eye contact, and you get zero respect as a customer. To make things way worse, the last time I went, I literally found a piece of plastic inside my salted cheese. That is disgusting and a huge safety issue. Great drinks aren't worth dealing with terrible customer service and literal trash in your food. Save your money and go somewhere else where they actually care about their customers. read more

It's my first time at a Happy Lemon, so I figure I keep it simple by ordering: E10 - KUMQUAT LEMON w/LYCHEE JELLIES - $6.25 Wow, so refreshing! This location is just down the street from where we live. We always walk past it, but this time when I was craving boba, we ordered from here. I ordered online and by the time we got there, about 10-12 minute walk, it was ready. The small dining area had a few tables and bar stools by the windows. We sat at one of the tables, it was a hot day out. I got the passion fruit mango green tea and it was refreshing on a hot day. My bf ordered the milk tea w/ boba and taro, he said the taro was a bit grainy. I also ordered the original waffle and it was good. Next time I'll have to try the Oreo flavor. read more

Lol but I did like how they limited capacities. My very first happy lemon, and I sure am very happy. I got passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly. I love drinks with real fruits in them, and was satisfy with real passion fruit inside my drink. My friend loved her matcha drink, even though she didn't really tasted the tiramisu. But she love the salted cheese, I guess it's a happy lemon must have. Too bad I can't try it, because Of my lactose allergy. Time: last Tuesday evening Place: place looks a little run down in terms of paint and furniture, but still has a cute atmosphere. Store front is a little small, but not anything different from crowded downtown spaces. There was a couple areas for seating (two tables and a small counter by the window, but it's mostly turned into a take out store ever since the pandemic. COVID Precautions: staff and patrons wore masks. The protective shield was still up at the cashier and pick up counter. Food: I got the regular sized black tea with cheese foam and boba. I usually get 50% sweetness and less ice. Their boba is usually pretty good, but it didn't taste like they soaked it honey for long enough this time. Happy Lemon probably does one of the best cheese foams as it isn't too creamy or sweet. I'd recommend upgrading to a large if you get boba and cheese foam to make sure there is enough drink to toppings ratio. Overall, I am a pretty frequent Happy Lemon visitor when I am in the area. Boba places have become quite popular in Alameda these days. This Happy Lemon is pretty new and I came here with my bf to get a creama drink. I parked a few blocks down closer to the movie theatre and walked a couple of blocks to get here. When we got in, there were a few people waiting in line. We waited for a bit and then ordered. I ordered the matcha latte tiramisu salted cheese. I have never tried it before and the cashier recommended. They were pretty quick at making the drink and I got it right away. First sip (without a straw) was pretty much just the tiramisu salted cheese. I had to ask for a straw to taste the matcha latte. It was definitely great! I did enjoy it a lot. For the smaller size its $4.50 a drink. It is a little pricier I think but based on location, item, competition etc. $4.50 is within reason. If I happen to be by the area again, I would definitely order it again. read more

Came on a Sunday night around 7 pm. Decided to order the Yakult Lemon Slushy to see what the big deal was with the lemon drink. Waited about 5-7 minutes for our 3 drinks. I took a sip of the yakult lemon slushy and was immediately hit with the tartness of the lemon. There was also a jelly which I couldn't identify in my drink. (I later found out from my other friend that it's lychee jelly cubes). The drink was tart but also very sweet. I drank about half of it before I had to stop to give my taste buds rest. The store itself is clean and the employees seem to be pretty efficient. Only a few tables so probably not the best place for a large group gathering. There's street parking which we easily found on Sunday night. I'll be back again to get something else. Maybe my normal black tea with salted cheese. read more

I've only come once so take this note with a grain of sugar or in my case 25% sugar. Tried the A2 Black Tea Salted Cream. Why? Bc it's marked as popular. And I also avoid milk tea when I can. My body is willing but my mind is not.. or is the other way around? Thought it was good. Nothing too earth shattering but good. Was pleasantly surprised to find a Happy Lemon in San Leandro! Came here in the evening and it was relatively empty; I got the fresh lemon black tea with no sugar (don't know why I did that, but trust me, don't do it. Get at least 25%). My drink personally was not good but that was my own fault for choosing 0% sugar, which I won't be doing again. My friend on the other hand, chose wisely and got a lemon slush with lychee jelly. I tried some of that and that was delicious. Onto the decor and vibes - one thing I appreciated about this Happy Lemon was the bright mural which I don't typically see in Happy Lemons and a communal seating area. One of my favorite boba places have opened in Alameda! Happy Lemon is honestly taking over !! And for good reason too :) I went on grand opening weekend, so I took advantage of the BOGO deal ! This location took over what was formerly Baby Cafe on Santa Clara in Alameda. Same ownership as most of the other Happy Lemons in the Bay Area, meaning that you'll get the same consistency in your drink and service at this location as well. Even though I waited a while in the long line because of grand opening weekend, my drinks still came out quickly! My beloved go-to drink was also made perfectly at this new location: Black Tea Salted Cheese (A2) 50% Sugar, 50% Ice -- I appreciate Happy Lemon's consistency at all locations. I know exactly what I'll be getting. I specifically love Happy Lemon because I feel that they have the BEST "salted cheese/cheese creama/cream puff" compared to all other locations that offer the same type of "cheese" topping. It's not TOO salty or sweet, and perfectly blends both complementary flavors together. For those who aren't familiar, "salted cheese" is not ACTUALLY cheese, and it's more of a foamy, super mildly salty, but sweet tasting layer atop your drink. It's one of those things where you have to just try versus reading a description. I love their salted cheese so much I could probably just drink it on its own and I specifically remove the lid to lick the remnants. Mnm mmnm mnm! Parking in this area may be difficult since it's right next to Park St. There is a CVS parking lot if you're trying to do errands and get boba afterwards ;) There's also the huge movie theater parking lot if you really can't find street parking a block away from this location. I'm a huge huge fan of Happy Lemon in San Jose. My go to and I highly reco is the Mango Matcha, you will not be disappointed. It tastes make like mango than matcha but still delicious. Decided to stop by this location during shelter in place. I wanted to give this place many many stars however my mango matcha came out very flavorless and watered down. It didn't taste like much of anything which is sad because there wasn't barely anyone in the store waiting so they should have taken the time to craft my drink and taste it more like to real deal. Happy Lemon in Alameda had their grand opening last week (01/11/2020). We came on 01/18/2020, after spending some time in South Shore with friends. I told hubby about the opening and since it's been a while that we went, we decided to stop by! It's a small little shop with a few seats on the inside. Street parking. Upon coming in. We saw that it was a bit packed with people already. We stood waiting in line to get to the counter. There is little movement that you could really do on either side of you, but it works. We got up to order and it was fast since we knew what we wanted. I originally always get either their black tea lemonade or their puff cream milk tea, and hubby would get their mango lemon slush. This time I opt for their Oreo milk tea and hubby got the puff cream milk tea. We asked for pudding in his, but they ended up giving him boba.. drinks turned out good, fast service. My favorite Happy Lemon location. I've been to a few now throughout the Bay Area and I'm lucky that the one closest to me has also been the most consistent. I love kumquats and my go to is their honey lemon kumquat green tea. First off, the tea is strong and good quality Jasmine. The kumquat and lemon is always fresh and never bitter. Their pairing of the lychee jelly goes really well with the flavors. I am crazy and still go low on the sweetness. They always ask me if I'm sure but I like my drinks a little sour. Just like me. ;) I'd also recommend their mango Matcha. I love both mango and Matcha so this is a no brainer. It seems to be one of their best sellers too. read more

This happy lemon is a lot smaller than the other ones I've been to. There are a few tables and chairs inside but seems more like a place where you buy your drinks and be on your way. You can order at the self kiosk they have set up to your left or with the cashier at the front. Staff was friendly. I was the only customer inside so service was quick. They were already done with my drink within a few minutes of ordering. I decided to get the Green Tea with Salted Cheese. I've ordered this before at other happy lemon but this drink tasted a little water down. Usually I can taste the salted cheese with every sip but I barely tasted anything. So excited to have this in alameda! I always go to the Berkeley one but parking is so bad there. Went for their grand opening and it's buy one get one free any drink. The line was pretty long and they said it would take ~45 minutes. It went by pretty quick and drinks were still perfect. They have another floor but it's blocked off. I ordered a matcha tiramisu drink with boba, after waiting nearly 5 minutes at the register just hoping that a worker would notice me. The thing was, I made eye contact with both of them and neither one had made so much as a comment such as "we'll be right with you" or "one moment please, we're having issues with ____." Instead, they continued to lolligag and wipe down the area and toy around with the device that he was working on, giving me zero acknowledgement. The drink itself was not bad. I would've given this review 4 stars: 3.5 for the drink (the boba was all stuck together, the drink itself wasn't all that fantastic either) and 5 for the "nice" customer service (which didn't exist). Feels airy--nice place to relax unlike many packed boba places. 1. Strawberry Milk Shake "caffeine-free, soy milk alternative": FINALLY!!!--a drink that's lactose free by default!!! It was good too. Creamy. Maybe could use more strawberry flavor, but given it's soy milk, it was remarkably tasty. No, not as good as if you mushed up fresh strawberries into milk like my mom used to make for me, but for what it is I liked it. 8/10 1a. Boba +$0.94 1b. Tiramisu Salted Cheese +$1.25: So, this was my mistake. Yes, it really does taste like tiramisu!!! Amazing. Alas, it didn't pair well with the strawberry shake. I took one sip of my drink and accidentally dropped the rest of the drink on the ground. I tried to clean what I can with the napkins and an employee said they will take care of it. The employee asked what drink did I ordered and gave me a new one. I am touched by the extremely kind customer service here! I like their reward card system. Every $4 is 1 point, 10 point is 1 free drink (up to $5). If I forget to bring my card, I show them a picture of the card and they will enter the card number, so you can still get points. read more
