Happy Lemon is one of my favorite boba shops so I was really happy to see that they opened this location. I usually get the green milk tea with salted cheese. At first, I didn't like the idea of salted cheese but it's definitely a must. It tastes like the sweet cream foam from Starbucks but better. It's super delicious! Service has been slow due to them being understaffed because of COVID so keep in mind the line may look long but they're working as fast as they can! Took me about 15 minutes to get my drink but it was worth it. read more

If you want the BEST salted cheese, you're at the right place! Came by on their last BOGO night and the line was long but worth the wait. Although the line was long my friends and I were able to watch when our drinks were completed which was quite efficient as they were finished within a few minutes. here is what we ordered as well as our happy lemon go to's but overall the menu has different and tasty selections to choose from: G6 Strawberry Black Tea with Salted Cheese 75 sugar it is on the sweeter side with the Salted Cheese topping F2 Mango Matcha F5 Strawberry Milkshake with Puff Cream and Boba C2 Fresh Squeeze Black Tea 75 sugar a sweet and sour refresher! The customer service was outstanding as per say their happy lemon name, with being busy and making drinks at an efficient time, I'll be sure to be back at this location when I'm in the Alameda area! read more

My fiancé and I recently started our boba journey getting to know flavors, toppings, all of it. We started with the original milk tea and she was good! The boba is delightfully chewy. We tried the Oreo milk tea and she was also verrryyy good! I've got a sweet tooth and I found that the green milk tea is my go to she was just (chef's kiss). The service is great! They're friendly & they welcome you with patience and friendliness if it's your first time. Looking forward to trying more flavors soon! :) read more

I'm a lover of happy lemon, however, I am only a lover of their mango matcha drink. Every time I try something different, I either don't like it at all and throw it away (surprising! Since I always try to finish boba..cuz boba is LIFE) or I have mixed feelings but still attempt to finish. Whenever I can, I request for sugar and ice to be at 25% The other drinks I've tried but didn't like: grapefruit lemon slushy, taro fresh milk Drinks I was okay with: passion mango tea, dragonfruit lychee, matcha with tiramisu salted cream, boba milk tea with puff cream, black tea with salted cheese Don't remember any of the other ones that I've tried but I refuse to try new ones now... will always get the mango matcha read more

If you are not sure what to order from this place - I'd suggest a Mango Matcha. As I was writing this review, I was originally writing a 4 star review. However as my wife looked over the phone and she said, "Noooo! Happy Lemon deserves a 5!" So there you go Happy Lemon, you are 5 star boba shop. First time visiting this happy lemon! I'm always at the San Leandro location at the green house but decided to support the business and try this one, since I'm regularly in alameda. The only downside to this location is the parking. Street parking only, which can get tough. I usually buy something at CVS, so I park there and take a quick trip to happy lemon. The line was long when I came, took about 10 minutes to get my drink. (I came at 3:30 on a Thursday, so I ran into the after school rush. My drink was tasty, and I would come back if I was in the area! read more

It's happy lemon. You know what you're in for. They're consistent across all the locations I've been to so far (Alameda, San Leandro, Union City, Newark, Fremont, Pleasanton) So regarding the drinks, it is what it is. Now for the store, they were quick and it was clean. A couple of chairs to sit while waiting, but it's not somewhere you want to hang out at. Grab a drink and go, can't complain. read more

So tasty! My favorite is the iced black tea with lemon and a hint of sweet or the milk tea with puff cream. The milk teas are highly caffeinated, though, even more so than coffee. I wish they opened earlier - like 9am. I could use the fix earlier in the day. read more

I love happy lemon. But this place STINKS. Look, I've been to Happy Lemons across the world - Bay Area, Shanghai, Taiwan, Manila. And I was a regular at at this place. I live merely blocks away after all. This place takes the cake for worst service of all of them. I mean, I went in yesterday to get my drank on, and of course this means BOBA ALL DAY. I got a grapefruit drink and a tea as well as an egg puff. Now, I asked the guy if I could pay with my card and get change for a $20 bill. He said yes, give me the $20. Then he gave me the $6.81 that he owed me. Oh well, no big deal, credit card points are overrated anyway. Then some of the loose change in coins happened to fall into the tip jar while he gave it to me. I say it happened to because there's no way of knowing he didn't intentionally drop it there. But I mean, that's ok too - mistakes happen and I don't mind. I went to happy lemon a few days before this. I forgot to bring my frequency card and so I asked them for a receipt. I was told I could use the receipt to add the points to my card and so I brought that receipt to yesterday's transaction. But the guy told me that he needed a manager's permission to give me the points and that the manager was on break for ten minutes; I'd have to wait another ten minutes. Ok, I said. That'd be enough time for me to get my drink and then some. Never mind that another party of two (a parent and child) came in, ordered, and got their drinks well before I did during that ten minutes. Never mind that the egg puff was in that purgatory of not-quite-crisp-and-not-quite-hot-nor-fresh. (It was awful.) But finally when I reminded the guys to get the manager, the person took one look at the receipt and said "sorry, we cannot give you the points because it does not have a manager's signature." I said, "what? I've never had to get a manager's signature before." Remember that I've been to happy lemons all throughout the world! The manager replied with no hint of acknowledgement, "we do not take it if it does not have signature." Then this unnerving person had the temerity to take the receipt, and instead of giving it back to me, decided to rip it up in front of my face and throw it like confetti to the ground. Rude. A. F. I said something like "oh well you won't give me back the receipt? Well, that's fine." I left, rather miffed, and was motivated by such rudeness to write this review. Like the happy lemon in San Leandro is still a great place to hang out (or maybe it will be once again come the end of the pandemic), and the one in Pleasant Hill has lots of great memories of playing board games after a quick In-n-Out visit...but don't go to this one if you want to keep your inner rage in check. I loved Milk Tea Lab when it existed in Alameda, and when they closed down this happy lemon became my #1 best boba on the island. Now I'd recommend you go to Gong Cha or I-Tea if you're in this side of the island, or if you can afford to drive to Raretea or Top Up or Yi Fang. But really, just go any place that has better service than the place where the manager rips up your receipt in front of you. I mean, what if I was the kind of person who keeps their receipts for accounting purposes to write off meals as an independent contractor, or something? (I used to be this guy! At least, till I came to Happy Lemon yesterday...) read more

Súper yummy slushies here very flavorful the I always get the mango slush with aloe when In season and you can tell that the fruit is fresh, their bubble waffles are also nice and crispy on the edges but soft and fluffy in the middle slightly sweet made to perfection. The only thing I wish is that they could adjust the sweetness level in the Beverage as I sometimes want it to be less sweet other than that it's definitely a must try for a cool refreshing drink. read more

You dirty lemon. Stopped by Happy Lemon at opening hour today, 8/28/20. The person helping me was geared up with gloves. Machine terminal wasn't taking my card so I paid in cash, no biggie. The person helping me, whose hair covered his eyes, couldn't get through the transaction without constantly touching his hair and face with his gloved hands. Those gloves also handled money and started to make my drinks, but not without continuing to fuss with his hair and pick up the phone half way into making my drink. I voiced my concern, stating he probably shouldnt be multitasking with the same gloves. He said to me, "is this because your card got declined"? Uh, no, I don't have time to play with you. This is how seriously this individual observes food cleanliness, forget covid-19 even. Question their practices, they respond defensively. Please be assured that I will be calling the health department to report your failure to practice safe food handling. You are nasty! read more

Went to the alameda location and ordered an ube milk tea which comes with taro puff and boba, which has become my new favorite drink at other locations. Ordered, paid, received my drink, with no taro puff or boba, I asked and they said they're out of both. I understand that happens, but felt a little silly paying $8 for some flavored milk and ice when no one informed me prior. read more

Thank you Happy Lemon for saving my night! After going to Gong Cha and not enjoying my drink, I ended up giving my drink to one of my friends who isn't that picky with boba. My friends suggested that we can try to hurry over to Happy Lemon down the street before they closed because I like Happy Lemon. I was hoping that they would still serve me here because I came right before closing and fortunately they did! I ordered one of my usuals here, which is the mango green tea! I literally order 2-3 drinks so I can get the discounted delivery on Doordash through Dashpass. I always get the mango drink with mango boba and the rest have lychee since I drink it the next day. I love their fresh lemon and regular lemon teas too. Their cheese top is good too but mango boba mango tea is my favorite! I'm a new convert from Fantasia, Sharetea, Gongcha, etc. (also I notice I love lemon more as I get older...). read more

It was super hard to find parking around here as we couldn't find their private lot. My friend ended up waiting in the car while she parked temporarily on the side of the street. Another friend and I walked to Happy Lemon to order our drinks. It was super hard to hear the guy taking our orders. I'm assuming it was hard for him to hear us as well since I had to correct him regarding the sweetness level of my drink. It took about 5-10 minutes for 4 drinks so it wasn't too bad of a wait. The drinks themselves were good- typical of any Happy Lemon. I just would not go to this location again due to lack of parking & the loud environment. read more

Happy Lemon is my go-to boba spot in Bay Area. I probably went three times during the Grand Opening BoGo weekend and have been going here at least three times a month since Shelter in Place began. Like all happy Lemons, you have the same menu consisting of the salted cheese they're known for as well as your standard milk teas, slushies and fruit and lemon based drinks. My go-tos are the salted cheese green tea, mango matcha, boba milk tea w/ puff cream or the Okinawa fresh milk. Unlike some of the other big chains in the area, I don't think you can go wrong with any of their drinks. The only complaint I have is needing to carry their loyalty card but another reviewer mentioned you can show a photo of the card to the cashier. read more

I love love happy lemon and I was delighted they opened one in Alameda !! I love the mango matcha drink with no boba; 50% sweet but today I ventured out and tried the matcha latte with tiramisu salted cheese with boba 50% sweet and I'm so happy I did! I love the lid let's u sip the tiramisu salted cheese and the boba drink can come from the straw!! I think I found my new favorite drink I love the taste of the tiramisu! I usually get 30% sweet with drinks but at happy lemon I tried that once and it wasn't sweet enough One thing they could work on would be getting a bigger menu when I walked in waiting in line with one person in front the menu was really hard to see but other than I love happy lemon :) read more

One of the better boba places in Alameda due to its affordability and taste. I ordered the D5 (Boba milk tea with puff cream), which is my usual order at any Happy Lemon location. In my personal experience, I feel like most HL locations are consistent in terms of tea flavor and quality, and this is also the case with the Alameda location. I personally prefer milk teas that have a stronger tea flavor, and you definitely get that here. Nothing to complain about here. Personal tips: - Get either the lowest level or 50% sugar if you're getting one of the fruit teas - Try their puff/salted cheese teas! They have the best cream teas It did take me around 15 minutes to get my tea (you can tell with the order trackers they display on a TV screen) despite the fact there were only 2 single-item orders before me. The tea is worth the wait, but if you're in a hurry, I'd recommend going somewhere else. read more

Simply unhappy. Happy lemon I am not happy with you!! During COVID, been constantly ordering from HL @alameda, favorite drinks are the salted cheese drinks and the strawberry black tea. Always had aloe add ons. The quality in the beginning has been pretty good, then after a month and a half or so, it has worsen: either is too bland/ sweet (with the same combo of ice and sweetness level) and the amount of aloe has decreased by a large amount. So after three months of happy lemon, I stopped ordering from the store. This is back in October 2020. Then today, I decided to give it another try and I tried out other boba places around the area. And guess what, 75% sweetness is okay, but the add on (red bean) is of the thinnest I ever seen in any store! If you're going to charge $6.25 almost $8 (w/delivery), at least make it worth it? Like look at meet fresh and yifang, meet fresh' red bean takes 25% of the bottle. With every sip in the beginning, you can actually taste the red bean! Happy lemon? Yeah, it went to my throat before I can taste it, that's how little amount of red bean there it. Simply disappointed. [Pic 2] see the difference. read more

We got here on Sun evening and there was no line. Customer service was quick and friendly. We order the Boba Puffs, Grapefruite Oolong tea and Mango Matcha w/ salty foam. They have a top 10 drinks on display and my go-to has been their Matcha Mango, you can actually taste the chunks of mango (now i do not know whether they were frozen or fresh) that were sweet and a slight hint of macha. At first, I thought it was a weird combo but actually, it was surprisingly good. I added the salty cheese foam since HL is known for it and let me tell you, it was BOMB!! My sister in law ordered the boba puff and it was too sweet and creamy for me, i tasted a hint of chocolate as well but not sure that is one of the ingredients. Their bobas were chewy so no complains there. Tips: you can ask for their reward card (basically every $4 spent = 1 pts and when you have 10pts you can get a free drink. It looks like a debit card, pretty cool). read more

B!!!! Im so glad they opened. Been coming since they opened and so glad they are near. I WILL PUT ALL YALL ON LEMON BLACK TEA WITH ALOE. That first sip be making u MOAN. Me and my best friend and boyfriend all be squirting and farting bc its so JUICY AND FRESH TASTING. My husband and I came here on the weekend and got lemonade infused black tea and the salted cheese green tea with the tea on the side. The lemonade black tea was refreshing with the lemonade taste! You can adjust the sugar and ice as well. They have 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% for each which is really nice! Since we like less sugar and less ice (especially since its January still). The green tea with salted cheese was interesting. I really liked it but my husband was okay with it. I am biased though because I really like cheese and eat cheese as a snack! Ha! But yeah I loked it in the side so you can control the cheese to greent tea ratio in your mouth with every sip. Its more work but I think worth it. The best way to drink it (because I experimented) was to drip a small sip of the cheese first then drink some of the green tea while the cheese is still in your mouth to neutralized the flavor and have a nice smooth swallow to the drink! read more

I ordered 4 drinks but it turns out she charged me for 6 drinks. I think she got it mixed up when I told her I wanted 2 A2, one with boba and one without cause she charged me for 2 A2 with boba and 2 A2 without boba plus my other 2 drinks. I think because this location is still fairly new that this is why their drinks taste a little bland? Or maybe I came on a bad day. I'll probably try this place again in a couple of months. read more

Yay! Another Happy Lemon opened up in the Bay Area. Recently visited this new location! Parking in the front was prime. The customer service here amazing was greeted when I walked in and got my drink within the next few minutes. I just happen to head in at the right time and missed the long lines I've always heard about. I got the C2 which is the Fresh Squeeze Lemon Black Tea, with 50 sug and 25 ice, highly recommend if you're looking for something refreshing and savory. Will be back soon! read more

We called Order 2 drink and 1 egg puff . And wait almost 20min.. the egg puff taste so bitter , burn out side but in side watery and soft .. the taste was awful.. fuck this place why made the egg taste taste so bitter and burn .. my husband bring it back to her .. i wish she could eat , if she can not eat I mean we can not eat .. never Order matcha egg puff this fucking place .. read more

It was either an everything bagel, cream cheese spread and a beverage at Starbucks or T4 Alameda. I chose the latter over the former. Wow! Nice selection of flavored teas, milk teas, smoothies, milkshakes, snacks and assortment of toppings. Also, they have three new items - chicken katsu bowl, chicken katsu sandwich, popcorn chicken rice bowl (price range $8.75 to $9.25). Eats: Chicken katsu rice bowl with a side of pickled radish. Beverage: lychee green tea with lychee jelly. (4 star) Chicken katsu has a crispy outer texture, yet moist and tasty. Lychee green tea is on point, refreshing with bits of lychee jelly. Service is quick and employee is friendly helpful. Seating capacity: about 20 people. Ambiance: casual and comfy. Three menu board mounted on wall. Lighting is perfect. Lunch counter has five chairs facing Park Street. Lunch: $17.44 (tax included). I must admit choosing T4 over Starbucks is better. Glad I made the right choice. Future visits: yes. Eager to try the avocado milkshake and a snack.

I got it at 70% sweetness and the drink was pretty sweet but the fruits were sour and didn't seem to go well with the tea. The sugar cane tea was also with 70% sweetness and it was pretty sweet. I think I prefer sugar cane juice without tea. The store was dim and doesn't seem too captivating. If I were to come back. I'd give the strawberry series a try.

I ordered two drinks and popcorn chicken to go and wasn't given a detailed receipt. When I came back, I was asked for another receipt I never received, and there was confusion about the $0.10 bag I had already asked for. After an awkward exchange, she finally gave me one but looked clearly annoyed. It's not about the dime , I had already tipped. Service and attitude matter, and this experience makes me think twice about coming back.

The biggest table I have seen seats around 6 people, but can be more if you have small children I suppose. We mostly order the rolls here, and to be fair, it's a decent pricing. However, it is a hit or miss. 1. Lion King - Decent. Taste all the same everywhere you go if you ask me. 2. Deep Fried Spicy Tuna - Must have, definitely my favorite. 3. Golden Gate - More on the saucy side with imitation crab meat, it's basic. 4. Dragon Roll - Again, same anywhere you go. 5. Double Salmon Roll - Salmon on the inside, salmon on the outside. Cheaper alternative than to just getting nigiri or salmon sashimi. The customer service here is not the best in my opinion. The first time we took a friend there for his birthday, and it was terrible. The host, waiter/server, and manager disregarded us. However, a table next to us got the friendliest treatment. The type of treatment you give when you expect them to come back so you can address them by their name. The second time we've been here, the customer service was basic. No expectations, just take your order, serve, and a simple question of how is everything. Honestly, customer service could have been much more reasonable at even the most basic level. Overall, the food is ok. I wouldn't say it's like the best, but if you're here for lunch or a quick bite, it's fine.

The drinks can be hit or miss; some days they are great and other days not as much. The shop itself is cute, with tables and seating available. There is usually music playing, making it a nice place to relax or hang out. Based on my visits, I would rate the place around a 3 to 3.5. The drinks can be inconsistent, and while the service is courteous, it is not exceptional. When they first opened, this was one of the few boba spots in Alameda. Although there are now many more choices, it remains one of my regular options when I am craving boba in the area.
