Terrible experience. I paid $1 extra for salted cheese on the side, and instead of giving me a proper container with a lid, they just put it in a cup and covered it with plastic wrap. Seriously? That's so careless -- it can easily spill. Every other store I've been to handles this properly, but this place couldn't even do that right. First and last time coming here.

WHEN: Sat @1:30pm While everyone was outside for the Wine & Arts Festival, we took cover for some refreshments to cool off. It's my first time at a Happy Lemon, so I figure I keep it simple by ordering: E10 - KUMQUAT LEMON w/LYCHEE JELLIES - $6.25 Wow, so refreshing! I think the secret ingredient is the salted dry plum, which I didn't expect to be in it! I love those, and I think it enhances all the wonderful flavors! This was so good and unique! This shop is pretty cute, well air-conditioned, with a couple of chairs and tables to hang out in. Not a busy time, but perhaps because it's during a festival.

This location is just down the street from where we live. We always walk past it, but this time when I was craving boba, we ordered from here. I ordered online and by the time we got there, about 10-12 minute walk, it was ready. The small dining area had a few tables and bar stools by the windows. We sat at one of the tables, it was a hot day out. I got the passion fruit mango green tea and it was refreshing on a hot day. My bf ordered the milk tea w/ boba and taro, he said the taro was a bit grainy. I also ordered the original waffle and it was good. Next time I'll have to try the Oreo flavor.

There was a line, and other customers before us waiting for their drinks outside. There was a big screen to show whose's drink were up next. Kinda felt like the dmv. Lol but I did like how they limited capacities. My very first happy lemon, and I sure am very happy. I got passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly. I love drinks with real fruits in them, and was satisfy with real passion fruit inside my drink. My friend loved her matcha drink, even though she didn't really tasted the tiramisu. But she love the salted cheese, I guess it's a happy lemon must have. Too bad I can't try it, because Of my lactose allergy. I really wanted to try their boba waffle, but they don't make that after 8pm. I will return and hopefully they will have them available.

** The following review reflects my experience DURING the COVID-19 pandemic. ** Shouldn't they put a mask on the Happy Lemon girl who gave me the white-gloved V sign as I walked up to the counter (photo: https://bit.ly/3iPIQl7)? At least I thought it was a girl. The yellow bowtie and red vest are throwing me off, so let's just assume Happy Lemon is non-binary. That would be appropriate since the salted cheese tea is an equal opportunity temptation to (primarily) Asian boys and girls alike. I was an Asian boy once. I was carefully strolling on Park when I noticed a new Happy Lemon out of the corner of my eye on Santa Clara. Honestly I was not making a beeline there as I haven't been patronizing drop-by spots no matter what beverages or other goodies they serve. But since it was relatively empty (just two people waiting), I decided to curb my cautionary ways and order the $4.25 Black Tea with Salted Cheese (photo: https://bit.ly/2SFPqA9). I recalled liking it against my better judgment in their Berkeley and Cupertino locations back in the halcyon, pre-pandemic days. I took it outside, found a solitary spot, and sipped it with purpose. I knew enough not to mix the creamy, salty top with the tea underneath. I drink it like a fat separator...not that I know how to separate myself from fat. However, for a non-binary sweet-savory treat, it worked for the few minutes I could pull down my mask. TEA - 4 stars...uniquely Asian sweet-savory treat for a once-in-a-while libation AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...he/she/they...Happy Lemon! Time: last Tuesday evening Place: place looks a little run down in terms of paint and furniture, but still has a cute atmosphere. Store front is a little small, but not anything different from crowded downtown spaces. There was a couple areas for seating (two tables and a small counter by the window, but it's mostly turned into a take out store ever since the pandemic. COVID Precautions: staff and patrons wore masks. The protective shield was still up at the cashier and pick up counter. Food: I got the regular sized black tea with cheese foam and boba. I usually get 50% sweetness and less ice. Their boba is usually pretty good, but it didn't taste like they soaked it honey for long enough this time. Happy Lemon probably does one of the best cheese foams as it isn't too creamy or sweet. I'd recommend upgrading to a large if you get boba and cheese foam to make sure there is enough drink to toppings ratio. Overall, I am a pretty frequent Happy Lemon visitor when I am in the area. Their drinks are a little pricier, but it's a good treat once in a while. I usually don't get cheese foam at other places, but they do cheese foam well!

Was pleasantly surprised to find a Happy Lemon in San Leandro! Came here in the evening and it was relatively empty; I got the fresh lemon black tea with no sugar (don't know why I did that, but trust me, don't do it. Get at least 25%). My drink personally was not good but that was my own fault for choosing 0% sugar, which I won't be doing again. My friend on the other hand, chose wisely and got a lemon slush with lychee jelly. I tried some of that and that was delicious. Onto the decor and vibes - one thing I appreciated about this Happy Lemon was the bright mural which I don't typically see in Happy Lemons and a communal seating area. It makes it a great spot to catch up with friends!

Boba places have become quite popular in Alameda these days. This Happy Lemon is pretty new and I came here with my bf to get a creama drink. I parked a few blocks down closer to the movie theatre and walked a couple of blocks to get here. When we got in, there were a few people waiting in line. We waited for a bit and then ordered. I ordered the matcha latte tiramisu salted cheese. I have never tried it before and the cashier recommended. They were pretty quick at making the drink and I got it right away. First sip (without a straw) was pretty much just the tiramisu salted cheese. I had to ask for a straw to taste the matcha latte. It was definitely great! I did enjoy it a lot. For the smaller size its $4.50 a drink. It is a little pricier I think but based on location, item, competition etc. $4.50 is within reason. If I happen to be by the area again, I would definitely order it again.

Came on a Sunday night around 7 pm. Decided to order the Yakult Lemon Slushy to see what the big deal was with the lemon drink. Waited about 5-7 minutes for our 3 drinks. I took a sip of the yakult lemon slushy and was immediately hit with the tartness of the lemon. There was also a jelly which I couldn't identify in my drink. (I later found out from my other friend that it's lychee jelly cubes). The drink was tart but also very sweet. I drank about half of it before I had to stop to give my taste buds rest. The store itself is clean and the employees seem to be pretty efficient. Only a few tables so probably not the best place for a large group gathering. There's street parking which we easily found on Sunday night. I'll be back again to get something else. Maybe my normal black tea with salted cheese.

The staff here are very kind, and on busy days you can order from a tablet. I love the selection and unique flavors they provide. Today I got an oreo milk tea with tiramisu salty cheese, which sounds terrible but was absolutely delicious! It's a small but sweet store that feels very homey. They have couches if you'd like to sit for a minute. read more

I usually never want to get Happy Lemon but decided to get some today. I ordered pick up through DD - got strawberry green tea w/ crystal boba and salted cheese (50/50 sugar & ice). It was hella sweet still...overall the drink just didn't sit right w me. I'm always a fan of strawberry green tea and salted cheese combo, but the taste was kinda off. Service is literally the bare minimum, or less. Employees seem miserable lol and I didn't even get greeted when I came in. Personally I could care less, but in general you should ALWAYS greet customers. Probably might not come back again...nothing spectacular about their drinks. read more

My friends and I all tried their jasmine milk tea with salted cheese and it's hands down my favorite assam milk tea I've ever tried. It has the perfect amount of creaminess and sweetness. They have different drinks to try. It has the perfect amount of creaminess and sweetness. The boba is not too chewy and not too soft. I would definitely come here again! read more

this place needs some serious help in the customer service department for the following reasons (1) not likely you will be greeted or acknowledged. you could be the only customer there good luck getting a genuine smile (2) if you are greeted it seems forced (3) employees obviously don't like being there (4) they're either understaffed or when they are fully staffed it seems so disorganized (5) often times i come in and only one person is handling the order taking and the order pick ups which is soooo annoying for both types of customers. recently they gave me someone else's drink when i came to pick up and then come to find out they gave my drink to someone else. yea they're setup for mistakes. it's not ALWAYS like this maybe 80% of the time. but my sister wanted to go somewhere else because she doesn't like the attitude here i had to convince her to go because i was craving the puff cream haha. i'm tempted to give this place a 3 because i do enjoy the drinks and the puff cream is soooo bomb but if someone leaves feeling like shit after getting his drink but drinking the drink is what makes him feel better but he wouldn't have needed to feel better if the customer service part was decent then i have to hold back the third star. i get the feeling management sucks and that's why the employees act the way they do. anyway -- i still buy the drinks. read more

Just ordered 4 drinks today @ 5:00 pm. It literally took us more than 30 minutes to receive the drinks. My daughter ordered them online while I was parking in the front of the store. After 10 minutes, I told my daughter to check and they confirmed with her that they did receive the order. She still waited for another 20 minutes outside of the store. I saw people walked in ordered and picked up after our order, but my daughter still waiting for them to call her. One of my order is Matcha late with cream cheese and I added the red bean. After over 30 minutes of waiting, they told my daughter that they ran out of red bean. What a terrible service. I would love to support the local during COVID, but this is unacceptable services. I guess I will go somewhere else next time. read more

This man in a green shirt gave me and my aunt the worst attitude ever. I have been to happy lemon in many states and this is the worst customer service ever. We asked him if mango in the smoothie was fresh and he rudely answered yes. I forgot to order cream for my waffle and he made me go back in like when that was a quick fix. Man gave me so much attitude I thought his gf cheated on him or something. Anywho, you are not supposed to bring ugly attitude to work with you. The mango matcha doesn't taste as good as the one in San Leandro. But don't be discouraged by their salted cheese tea series. Its actually quite good. Its a bit of savory foam to balance the sweetness of the tea. read more

Loved that they opened up a location. I love their drinks and would 100% recommend their classic milk tea. It's extremely good and tastes like the ones I had in Hong Kong. Only downside is the place is small. There's only around 3 tables. read more

I am obsessed with a few drinks from here including their seasonal dragonfruit drink and the mango orange milk tea. It's a cute little boba spot. Very clean and welcoming. Wish they would answer the phone more often to avoid having to wait there, especially during this pandemic. read more

Very sad lemon. This place is probably still new but very chaotic and unorganized. Waited around 20 mins to find out that they were out of milk tea and have to change my order to a black tea (or else wait another 20 mins). In this type of situation, they should at least provide a refund or offer a free drink to their customers as a courtesy. read more

I got the pomegranate and lemon slushie w/lychee. It was a mix of sweet & sour which I like, it had chunks of pomegranate. Super fresh. My bf got the mango matcha and it was creamy he really liked it. I'm only giving 4 starts bc they forgot the boba in his drink. I would still go back tho. read more

Today was the grand opening and they have a special buy one get one free. I got the milk tea with salted cream cheese and the passion fruit green tea. Both was very good. Customer service was great and i was very surprised the line was not that long. The decor was very cute though it was very limited seatings. read more

Pros: Their famous green tea with sea salt foam is very solid, just like at other locations Cons: Their egg Waffle seemed undercooked. It felt like I was eating mochi - the outside crust was soft, and the inside was still a little liquidy. Egg waffles are supposed to be crunchy on the outside and definitely not liquidy on the inside, so they got it all wrong here... Maybe it was just mine, but I already left before I got to try it, so I couldn't ask for a replacement. Also, their cup sealer is faulty. I shook one of my drinks in the car, and milk tea splattered everywhere... At least I was right outside and was able to get them to reseal it. This shouldn't happen in the first place though - either check if it's sealed properly fix the sealing machine. Overall, it seems like they need extra training, or just some better quality control implementations. I'll give this place a try again in a few months. read more

I love Happy Lemon! Their drinks are so good compared to iTea. It makes iTea seem plain and boring. I love their salted cream cheese on top of any milk tea, it's great! I definitely recommend ordering through GrubHub pick up, so it can be ready as soon as you get there. read more

i don't come here much, but i might've been here twice way before the pandemic. came here last night since it was the only spot open until 9pm. i don't remember the last time their drinks being SO SWEET but when i ordered the yakult green tea, definitely be aware, try getting 75% or 50% sweet. the cashier was nice, despite the slight language barrier. the will have you wait outside once you've ordered, they don't have a machine to call out your number so definitely pay attention when they call out. my cousin tried ordering the puff waffles but i think they don't serve them at a certain time so maybe come by earlier before 9pm. read more

Buying milk tea at this store is always a fucking package without a bag. Every time I took it into the house, I dropped it and sprinkled it on the ground. Alameda happy lemon is one of my favorite boba place in the Bay Area. I like how they use a real ingredient and how they care the customers. the customer service is so nice, they take a time to get to know their customers. My most favorite drink is C3 with Aloe, the fresh lemon favorite, especially I really like to order this drink in the summer. read more

After an awkward exchange, she finally gave me one but looked clearly annoyed. It's not about the dime , I had already tipped. Service and attitude matter, and this experience makes me think twice about coming back.

However, it is a hit or miss. 1. Lion King - Decent. Taste all the same everywhere you go if you ask me. 2. Deep Fried Spicy Tuna - Must have, definitely my favorite. 3. Golden Gate - More on the saucy side with imitation crab meat, it's basic. 4. Dragon Roll - Again, same anywhere you go. 5. Double Salmon Roll - Salmon on the inside, salmon on the outside. Cheaper alternative than to just getting nigiri or salmon sashimi. The customer service here is not the best in my opinion. The first time we took a friend there for his birthday, and it was terrible. The host, waiter/server, and manager disregarded us. However, a table next to us got the friendliest treatment. The type of treatment you give when you expect them to come back so you can address them by their name. The second time we've been here, the customer service was basic. No expectations, just take your order, serve, and a simple question of how is everything. Honestly, customer service could have been much more reasonable at even the most basic level. Overall, the food is ok. I wouldn't say it's like the best, but if you're here for lunch or a quick bite, it's fine.

The drinks can be inconsistent, and while the service is courteous, it is not exceptional. When they first opened, this was one of the few boba spots in Alameda. I was let down by my visit to Happy Lemon in Alameda. The Oreo milk tea I ordered had a chemical taste, and the store's condition was off-putting: dirty, dark at 3:30 pm, and eerily silent. I walked here and was amazed at how beautiful this spot was! Very nice design and inside - it's recyclable and sustainable everything!
