I dropped by Jamba @ Alameda Southshore to try their Acai Bowls. I wanted to see how they compare to one I recently enjoyed at an independent smoothie shop. I was there on a cool Thursday afternoon, at around 4:30pm. I walked in, the place was empty. Crew were working behind the counter, a young man greeted me and asked for my order. The menu board seemed crowded with all kinds of choices. I ordered the "Acai Primo," large, with no add-ons. Price $14.70, 22-oz cup. Service was quick with three people behind the counter. Past reviews mention "cash only" payment. Not the case when I was there. I paid with a credit card using "tap to pay." My Acai Primo looked definitely fresh and delightful. The honey topping gave it a shiny glaze. All my favorites.....berries, banana, and strawberry were on top. I liked the crispy granola. Next time I'll just order a regular size. A large is like a meal. This place has no tables inside, just a bar along the wall and window. Haven't been to a Jamba Juice in ages. Stopped in to grab a smoothie since I had a discount coupon. I used to get one of the classics, Razzmatazz all the time. This time I wanted to try something new and opted for the specialty Acai Antioxidant smoothie. Which was really nice, not too sweet and not tart at all. Smoothie prices range from $8 for the small to about $10 for a large on the regular smoothies. Their specialty smoothies are a dollar more. I appreciate that their drink containers, lids, and straws are all biodegradable paper products. Pickup service was quick and easy as I ordered ahead online. I haven't tried any of their food products yet. Maybe next time. read more

Cash only?!!! Why! That's kind of sketchy... and ridiculous. I ordered my drinks only, waited for over 30mins for my drink and they didn't even taste right. All the sherbets or ice cream were on the counter. One of the employee made a comment that they are melting. Well no kidding if it's 70+ degrees outside and the AC doesn't seem to be working inside the store then of course everything will be melting. And when is it ok to provide customer service while having one AirPod attached to the one ear.. how can one be able to pay attention to the customer's order. Mango go go all the way, double blended with a protein boost. Though I forgot to add my free boost. Service was swift especially given just one person was wearing all the hats. Clean and vibrant ambiance. I went to JJ last evening in Alameda on Wednesday, 2/7/24, and poor girl working was there by herself working hard. Hm, strange that this location is not on Yelp yet. It's located close to Five Guys at South Shore Center in Alameda. Have only been her once and was not overly impressed - not by the cleanliness of the store and not by the friendliness of the staff. I waited 15 minutes for their featured smoothie (something with kale and mango) and while I was waiting, watched two employees calling another one over, pointing in one of their bins with frozen/prepared fruit, stirring around in there and looking at each other in disgust. Very assuring... not! Also, a family with a small child entered the place and the girl promptly peed right in the middle of the store. They left immediately and told the staff that there was an accident. And the staff dragged their feet - when they finally started to clean the mess up, other customers had already filed into the place and walked through the lake of pee.
