I knew about this diner 10 years before I moved to the area (and that was over 40 years ago). It definitely has staying power, which is impressive considering how many other diners in the Mid-Hudson Valley are owned by "diner families." I was at a function at one of the nearby hotels, and this was a convenient spot for a group of us to go for a later Saturday evening dinner. We got there after peak hours, so there was no problem getting a table. But the earlier diners were still wrapping up, so our waitress wasn't really able to attend to us immediately. Once the other customers were out, we received great service. Unfortunately, being there later in the evening, they were also already out of some food and drink items, especially one of the evening specials I had wanted to try, and in fact our waitress had to come back so that we could re-order. I instead went with another evening special, a Greek Platter, featuring smaller portions of moussaka (theirs uses a potato base), pastitsio, spanakopita, and stuffed grape leaves. Of these, the spanakopita was my favorite, with its rich, strong, flavor. The moussaka was very light on meat, and the pastitsio was really hot in the center, so I'm not sure whether it was cut from a fresh batch or microwaved. These were both a bit too filling. The salads, both as entrees and the smaller salads (or a soup) you could get with a meal were simple (lettuce, thinly sliced cucumber, grape tomatoes, red onion) but very well prepared and presented, except that some at my table asked to hold the red onions on the salad, and they still came out with them. Everyone was satisfied with their meal, but I can't say any of us were wowed by them. We were, however, wowed by all the desserts in the case at the front of the restaurant. You should definitely save room for these if you can, or maybe even get a few slices to take home with you. read more

I didn't stay at the location. I stayed at the hotel in the area so based on outdoor area, the place looks cute. My fiancé and I placed an order for some chicken wings. We ordered the Garlic Parmesan Wings and that's it. The wings were "AMAZING"! I was in the mood for good wings and they definitely delivered. Rocky mountain omelet knocked my socks off - but eat too many and you'll be singing with the angels. We had been to 84 diner many years and and it was ...meh...especially considering 2 excellent choices near by (Yankee Clipper and Red Line) Enough time has passed that it worth a revisit. The platter has 3 eggs, sausage, peppers, onions & cheese - a side of hash brown potatoes (extra crispy for me) and a ladle of sausage gravy over the top. It was delicious! But heart attack city. Come on, I-84 diner...$16.99 for a bagel with lox and cream cheese and that included 3.00 extra for a piece of lettuce and two tomato slices and 1 onion slices. The bagel was not even smeared and it just a slab of cream cheese! There was the same amount of lox as any other place. Did Thomas's make the bagel or Friehoffers? Because it was bland and doughy. Were the 2 pitted olives a garnish? Who puts green pepper slices on a bagel? $16.99 AND it was put it together yourself. Served "deconstructed" !! B&B Bagel in Kingston does it right. NY water bagels fresh made daily with your choice of what kind. The Everything is my favorite. They smear the cream cheese. And there are CAPERS! The price of this magnificent feast? Fully constructed , wrapped ( tomatoes, lettuce and onions) and sliced is 13.50! Shame on I-84 Diner in FISHKILL. I guess the closer to NYC you are allows this high price. I couldn't believe the mere volume of people that came in and out of this establishment. I84 Diner must hold at least three hundred people if not more. And there's plenty of parking. Inside it has an old diner feel, with a modern fleer.the staff was welcoming and friendly. The food came out pretty quick, considering the amount of people dinning. Arrived with a large party during the busy lunch hour and we were quickly accommodated. The large dining room was bright and comfortable. First visit for me. The variety of menu options impressed me and lots of items tempted me. When I made my selection, I was able to substitute part of the meal with ease. The meal was delicious and the portions large. I have never had a ruder server, or bewildered hostess in my life. A friend and myself met there for breakfast. As we were finishing our food, we wanted more coffee. After no one came over for almost 20 minutes, a server was walking by and I asked if we could have our cups refilled. She rudely said "She'll get to it when she gets to it!" and kept on walking. We were astounded to hear this response, especially since our booth was next to the hostess station and was obviously overheard. Another 20 minutes went by and I asked the hostess could we have a refill. I have been stopping by this diner for over 40 years and will never, ever walk through their doors again. Convenient location, friendly service, large menu and big portions. Stopped by here before heading back down to NYC and I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap. It was huge and served piping hot with a ton of fries on the side . My friend ordered an eggs Benedict and it was pretty big as well. We were both satisfied and the price point was just right. Turning off the highway to go to our hotel (which ended up right beside the diner) I spot this diner and said "oh my goodness we have to eat there!" As it turns out it was walking distance from the Quality Inn so that's where we had dinner for our over night stay in Fishkill. The menu is gigantic and according to the waitress (who btw was super sweet and helpful in making suggestions) this is the "covid shortened menu" It used to be 8 pages she said before. Anyway, I had the french onion soup, grilled cheese and sweet potato fries, along with a rootbeer. All felt like quintessential diner good food and was just as expected, comfort food at its finest. The restaurant is very large inside and was busy for a Saturday night. Service was quick and I should add this place was so clean and cute inside. A must stop if traveling I-84. read more

The "girls" met for a two day get away half way between out homes. We stopped for lunch on our way back to our respective states & it was a great choice! Neither of us felt like a lot of food & thought we ordered light! I don't think there is a light amount of food here - LOL! My friend ordered the half sandwich with a half salad. It came with a huge bowl of soup & more than enough chicken salad for a whole sandwich. I got a side order of mac cheese. Seriously?? It was huge!I I managed to get abut 1/4 of it down and brought the rest home! It was good and cheesy! The owner was wonderful! Our server, Summer, was terrific! The server brought our drinks and asked if we needed more time to look at the menu. Some 20 minutes later after she had waited on several other tables. She finally returned. Before she returned the manager tried to make excuses of which there were no valid ones. my wife BLT had limp bacon instead of crisp and the lettuce was thick rejected pieces that were somewhat wilted. The salad I had was old, wilted, and the croutons are very soggy. The steak Panini had the bottom piece of bread soggy and the "sliced" steak was approximately 1/4 inch thick and was tough and nearly impossible to chew. The menu they had was huge, which many times means that they do nothing well. If this was their goal, they accomplished it. Find someplace else to eat. It will be worth your while. read more

Second day to this establishment and it was even better! Our waitress Janjane was great, this was one of the best diner in this small town. The prices are a little higher than some, would recommend sharing due to large portion. The desserts looked great, but $7.95 for slice of cake and $6.95 for pie was a little bit more for to spend. I requested eggs over easy with very well done potatoes. Expressed my allergy to onion but my delight with peppers. This diner in Fishkill, NY is definitely a place to visit. Hands Down! First off, all of thier food menu have great generous amount of food, so you can't go wrong with any food choice you make. Thier desserts are awsome and thier staff are friendly and kind. I like the fact that they kept thier place to have little bit of a 50s style look and thier background music has a 80s soundtrack. This is a beautiful establishment. Drove by on a ride from Jersey to Connecticut and stopped by for dinner. Clean and spacious. A lovely remodeled space. Super friendly. My girlfriend from NY was doubting the place and said it was ok, but I was super impressed! I ordered Greek Salad with Shrimp super huge shrimp! Did not expect that! The waitress was super pleasant and made recommendations openly when I asked for her thoughts . My friend had one special On the dinner sheet , Chicken Pot Pie, it came with soup or salad. Beautiful tasty artistic food with friendly service. The baked goods adorned the entry foyer. All luscious so you don't have to do it yourself! I wish I lived closer! I would definitely return. From breakfast to dinner to even late night for the night owl crowd, being open 24 hours allows anyone with a craving to get a bite. The prices are just in the correct range for even someone on a budget. I'd recommend the Philly Cheesesteak which is HUGE and topped with steak, onions, mushrooms and cheese along with a great portion of fries. Diners are known for burgers and this diner blotched their burger! They lost over 8 of them so you'd think they d be on point..not! Burger was dry, seemed like a frozen, meat plant patty. Don't eat here I came here on date night ,a Friday with my girlfriend and they were very rude and vulgar. I am a black man who and my girl friend is white we feel we're discriminated for those reasons. When I was seated I asked the host , a little Mexican American man with a mustache,, to place me somewhere less noisy he muttered to me a vulgar Spanish word chingaa thinking I wouldn't understand , what he didn't know was I am Puerto Rican Spanish and I nderstood quiet well he had just called me a mother fucker. I let it go he then walked us to the otherwise and the owner a white Greek man asked him what the problem was he answered and then he told the host to put us in the kitchen. I felt embarrassed and angry and stopped told my girlfriend to come with me and we walked out. What happened to friendly customer service ppl should never be made to feel bad when they choose to eat at any establishment. Avoid the I84 diner they are racist they are rude and they are not worth your time or your money thank you. read more

This is a review for gluten fee.... I honestly love this place, it gives you all the classic east coast diner hugs that I have been missing. They have gluten free bread, I got the double decker BLT and YUM!!!!!!! The bread is super toasted (with butter for sure) and I would not have known it was gluten free, this is how you want gluten free bread always. Toasted and buttery. Now I want to go try every club type sandwich I have been missing. (I have celiac and still feeling great, super sensitive). Oh and the kids means come in a paper car!! Best meal with a toddler.
