Bun Bo Hue
Pauline C.

What We Ordered - Bun Bo Hue - Bun Mang Vit It was a very quiet Friday evening so we were worried we made a wrong choice for dinner. I was extremely surprised at how delicious the Bun Bo Hue was. Normally, places make it quite bland or it has the wrong flavor profile. I devoured my bowl. My mom is very picky and she also enjoyed her Bun Mang Vit. The duck was very tender. Service was great! Will definitely be back when I'm visiting Seattle!

Hidden gem. The combo lettuce wraps with sugarcane shrimp, grilled pork, and meatballs is so satisfying and fun to eat. All the veggies are clean and fresh and the rest of the accompaniments are delicious. Lots of locals here. They validate parking or you can find free street parking around the corner easily.

Great and authentic Vietnamese food if you're looking for one! I had their Com Tam with their house special shredded pork and I loved it! The fish sauce was made well, shrimp cake was juicy and tasty, and their pork chop was prepared nicely and full of flavor! The veggies were also freshly served. The service was good! The server was friendly, nice, and funny. The food didn't take long at all to make. The pricing of the food was fair as well and there are a lot of options to choose from! The ambiance of the restaurant is good. Felt authentic and there's plenty of seating. The restaurant isn't located in the best area and the parking can be difficult, however, the restaurant itself is great! Can't wait to come back!

I checked out Huong Binh based on other Yelpers's positive reviews and they were not wrong! The food was delish! I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio (grilled pork with egg rolls on vermicelli) for $14.50 and my hubs got the Bun Ga Xao (lemongrass chicken and veg on vermicelli) for $14.50. We got them to go. Service was fast and friendly and our meals were packed with care. The fresh veg was in a separate chilled bag from the hot food. We were impressed. When we got home, we sat down with our meals and watched Top Chef. The food was delicious and very flavorful. It made our night a great one. Only small complaint was the lemongrass chicken was too spicy for us--we didn't know it was going to be stir fried with jalapeño slices. Next time we will ask to skip those. Overall, a great meal from Huong Binh. We will be back. If you're craving some authentic Vietnamese food, go check them out. We need to support the small businesses in Little Saigon and the I.D. What's happening on the streets is tragic and sad. If we want restaurants like this to stick around, we have to vote with our dollars!

After coming back from my trip to Vietnam, I was craving some northern Vietnamese food which is rare back in NY. This spot is it! A very homey local eatery and serving up some delicious and authentic viet food. Our group was shocked by the massive size of the dishes. The portions were huge and reasonably priced. Almost everyone had leftovers after their meal. Their pork skewers are sweet and savory, with the perfect glaze. The char was perfect and the meat was juicy and tender. I really enjoyed my bun cha as the fish sauce that accompanied it was flavorful and well balanced. So glad I made the trip here!

This is not a Pho shop. There is so much more to vietnamese cuisine than that. By far this place served up the crispiest Banh Xeo we ever ate. We have tried a number of dishes that have not disappointed us. It's a staple in our seattle rotation that we can never pass up.

This small homestyle family restaurant is really one of the gems in an area of the International District that has had its challenges over the years. Ding How/How How Plaza used to be bustling with many small Asian restaurants and businesses. Validated 1 hour parking now required. Even before entering, you see the pictures outside enticing and beckoning you to enter the door. Inside you'll be greeted with a warm welcome and smile. The menu may be overwhelming, but you can always look up to the large monitor on the main wall that continuously run pictures of some signature dishes. They all look delicious and the prices are affordable. Servers are also very helpful and kind. This restaurant has proven its resilience and regulars like us have been loyal because of the consistent classic and traditional Vietnamese flavors that outshine others. Our favorite dishes are the bun cha Hanoi and banh hoi tap cam which are set dishes with lots of fresh herbs and lettuce- fantastic during summer days. Other favorites include ban beo ( steamed rice cakes), bun rieu (shrimp paste noodle soup), and com thap cam (pork chop and rice). The portions are generous and flavors are balanced, with sauces that enhance rather than cover flavors of some dishes. There are fancier places, but we always return because the cooks here do what they do well.

Before going back to San Diego, I wanted to find a restaurant that had banh beo to eat with my boyfriend. And we found a place in Little Saigon! It's located next to Ebisu Bento and Pho So 1 in the Ding How Center on S Jackson St in Little Saigon. There is a small parking lot with narrow stalls. Very narrow stalls. Be careful when parking and exiting/entering your cars! My boyfriend and I ordered quite a bit of food. Besides Banh Beo Chen, I also noticed they had Banh Bot Loc! SO EXCITED. So of course, we order those two as appetizers. The banh bot loc had a nice mochi bounciness but without much protein. I felt like there wasn't much shrimp and pork in it. There was more "skin" than anything. The fish sauce made it delicious tho! The banh beo chen was really good! So much flavor in this dish with a lot of proteins and the fish sauce amplified the flavor. Sooooo good. It wasn't in a sauce dish like the traditional way but portion-wise, there was a lot more in one dish/saucer compared to other restaurants. I got their Bun Bo Hue. It was not a favorite of mine. There wasn't much flavor in the dish. It didn't have much of the "hearty" flavor that I'm used to. However, there was lots of protein. A lot more than I expected which made it a little better. My boyfriend got their Mi Quang soup noodle dish. It was both our first time trying it soup noodle dish. It had a sweetish flavor with wide egg noodles. It was quite good; maybe a bit sweeter than I liked (not a bad thing). Quite impressed by the flavor balance in this dish. The shrimp and pork gave the soup a really nice umami, salty flavor balancing the sweetness of the broth. Overall, small hole-in-the-wall restaurant that definitely deserves a little more praise! They serve different soup noodle dishes outside of pho and also rice dishes.

Family owned restaurant with casual ambiance seating. Food is great quality all around. Sugarcane juice is freshly pressed and the thit nuong (grilled meat/pork) is especially good. Highly recommend this gem to anyone in the area.

The food here is absolute GASSS I've been looking for good non-pho Viet food and this absolutely hit the spot. Portions are decent, price is right, service is quick. Definitely sticky seat hole in the wall type experience, but that's exactly how I like my Viet food establishments. I need to try their whole menu!

Bun Thit Nuong I already started mixing, it comes prettier.

The food and value here outweigh what's going on out side by a mile. I got the bun thit nuong and it was delicious! I really can't overstate this I think it is my favorite in the city right now. It's definitely a bit of a hole in the wall vibe, but it's everything you would want from that. Good food and low prices. Give this place a try.

Bbq pork vermicelli noodles

I almost don't want to review this place because I wanna gate-keep. The vermicelli noodle bowl with barbecued pork is excellent. It is a generous pile of meat on top of fresh noodles and veggies, lettuce, and herbs. You cannot find a more perfect summer day meal.

An usually sunny, warm April day seemed like the perfect excuse to have an adventure in areas I don't typically frequent, and Huong Binh was the perfect place to end up! I love when I end up at restaurants where I've never heard of the dishes being offered. We had to take advantage of this and ordered the following: - Banh Beo Chen: This is described on the menu as "steamed rice pancakes", but I'd really say texturally it's more of a cross between a rice cake and a jelly. I love all things savory and this did the trick! The fish sauce that accompanied it was also delicious and delivered a kick I was not anticipating! - Banh Hoi Thap Cam: This was delicious! Both the pork meatball and grilled pork were absolutely exceptional truly stood out. I've honestly never met a ground shrimp on sugar cane I didn't love, and Huong Binh's was the same. My least favorite was the shrimp, but only if you pressed me to nitpick. Really, it's a slam dunk all around, the pork is just what really shines. I also loved that all of the accompanying veggies were very fresh. - Com Tam Bi Suon Cha Huong Binh: The pork chop was perfect, albeit a bit too high on the bone to meat ratio (but def no fault of the place, just the nature of the cut). The egg meatleaf was also super unique and yummy! Honestly everything we ate here was absolutely fantastic, and all three dishes were things we would love to re-order.

It warmed and comforted me on this chilly Saturday. The Miss Pho Special with the huge bone-in beef rib, rare thinly sliced steak, well-done brisket, meatballs, tendon, tripe, and topped with a creamy raw egg yolk (very authentic Vietnamese-style) was very fun to try. I requested a side of sliced garlic and chili oil to mix in my pho and it added another amazing layer of flavor and texture. My only critique of the bone-in beef rib is that I think it could have been cooked even longer because I got some chewy parts that were tough to eat and a lot of the meat did not easily fall off the bone like I thought it should. Miss Pho is a super busy and popular restaurant. So be prepared to wait and make sure to add your name on the list at the register right away. Customer service can be mixed but I've been lucky to have gotten attentive and friendly service both times I've eaten there. Kudos to the owner who drained my pho of the broth leftover that I was taking to go and gave me a whole fresh separate complimentary container of broth because she wanted to make sure when I ate my leftover pho later that the noodles wouldn't get as soggy. I don't know if this is common practice for them, but I thought that simple gesture was kind and above and beyond. Thanks again :-) Support this wonderful small business! On the other hand, some remarkably bizarre choices and inexplicably bad dishes leave you thoroughly confused. I'm a positive person (kind of), so let's start with the good. Their bahn tieu, or hollow bread, ranks up there as maybe the best bread-as-an-appetizer in the city. From the moment you cut it in half and feel the hiss of the steam escaping from the middle, you know it's going to be good. The outside is crispy, and the inside is so unbelievably fluffy it's wild. The honey coating on the bottom just adds that slightly sweet flavor that makes it even better, and the honey butter works perfectly to spread and let melt on the hot bread inside. For just $4, it's comes at an unbelievable price. We liked ours so much we ordered it again at the end. Following that same theme, the next thing we had, the toasted bahn mi, was also incredible. This is definitely not your typical bahn mi - as it comes in two mini triangle shaped pieces with a fried exterior. This outside has the perfect crunch and slight oiliness in its texture, and the inside of chicken liver parfait and pork floss just works so well. The nuoc cham also has essentially every flavor - sweet, salty, umami, spicy - it's the perfect dipping sauce. Ok, now let's talk about the truly incomprehensible. The rockfish fish and chips contains some of the worst fried fish I've ever had. The breading is beyond repair - it's practically soggy to the touch. When taking a bite out of the fish in your fish and chips feels like eating a bamboo shoot, you've completely lost the plot. I shudder to think about how this would appear when put next to some of the other fried fish I've had in Seattle. There's no seasoning, and to make matters worse, something just tastes very off about the inside. I don't even mean that's its overcooked, which it is, but there's just something weird going on that I can't quite put my finger on. Also, the tartar sauce might be the worst I've ever had. It's essentially just a pickled salad. There's no fat - no mayo or anything to provide something good to dip the fish into. It's just watery, liquidy, and functions atrociously at its job of being a dipping sauce. At least the fries were decent enough. If that wasn't everything - there's two more things that went wrong. The first one of these is just laughable. When we sat at our table and tried to order from the lounge menu, which is an all-day menu (not just happy hour), we were told that we couldn't be served the lounge menu at our current table, and had to be moved to the lounge area. And then - completely serious - we were proceeded to be moved like three seats over, now told we were in the lounge area, and allowed to order the lounge menu. It was so ridiculous both of us couldn't stop laughing for like five minutes. Even now I find it incredulous. The fact that there was some great firewall standing between the lounge and main dining area that prevented them from bringing a lounge plate one iota outside the allocated area is exceptionally funny. The second one is a bit more annoying. When we got our table, we were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. I found this a bit odd - it reminded me of Europe - but I didn't think too much of it and asked for still, assuming that like essentially every restaurant in the US - the water would be complimentary. It was my absolute shock that we were charged 12 (twelve) American dollars for water. What!? In the land of the free? And the home of the brave? Really? Twelve dollars? Water? You know the kind where Seattle has some of the best tap water in the country, and you can literally just fill that up. Granted, it was probably partially our fault for not blocking the question entirely and asking for tap water from the start, but I assumed they asked between these two options to just determine the type of water we wanted. Overall, this has a couple of the highest highs, but the lows here are in the depths of hell. 5/10

They don't serve that dish at a lot of places in Seattle so I was glad they had it at Soufend Cafe & Eatery. It came with diced beef, two eggs, Chinese sausages, cha lua, pate, laughing cow cheese, some veggies, and a toasted French baguette. Overall I liked the sauce but I do think it was slightly salty. My friend got the vegetarian bánh xèo and it was HUGE! Each one was almost long as her forearm lol. It also came with plenty of vegetables. They put a lot of coconut creme and tofu inside the bánh xèo. Matcha with banana cookie foam was ok. The matcha flavor is there but it's not as strong as other matchas I've tried. Overall, we had a good experience and will be back! Hopefully get to try their popular bánh uot tower. Customer service was friendly; interior was clean and modern. They have self-serve water in the corner for you. They have their own private lot so plenty of parking. They're located on MLK st across the OG Joy Palace plaza.

The restaurant is in a small block with Sun Ta tofu and has a few parking lots in the front. However, those are filled up pretty quickly, especially on the weekend, so you may need to park somewhere else and walk over. The place is nice with a decent number of tables, unlike the parking. We always get seated right away. The menu has a variety of options coming from different regions in Vietnam. This is the first place that I know where you can find the Banh Uot tower and Banh Tam Bi. The portion of food and veggies is generous. However, the Banh Uot tower is a little bit overpriced in my opinion because you have to order the protein separately and they come in small dishes, so prepare to pay a bit more if you want to leave with a full belly. The coffee is not bad but we come mainly for the food. Feel free to ask the servers if this is your first time and they will gladly show you how to eat those dishes.
