I left a comment on Huddle House Garfield's Facebook page in the hopes that someone would read it and I wouldn't feel compelled to leave a negative Yelp review. Unfortunately, they decided to delete my comment. Here goes: My adult kids and I arrived at Huddle House at 12:45 PM on Monday, May 28. A server walked past us and said, "Sit anywhere". Okay, no problem. There were plenty of tables available. That was the last time anyone spoke to us. We sat down and we waited....and waited....and waited.... We didn't even get a glass of water. After waiting for 25 minutes without so much as a "be right with you", we decided to leave. We don't eat cheap and we tip really, REALLY well because all three of us have been in the food service industry at different points of our lives. We get how stressful it can be, especially in a new establishment. But to totally ignore patrons and then delete their comment just shows a lack of customer service skills. Been here twice on my lunch hour, I work right down the street and figured I'd try it out. Not only was my waffle platter delicious but the service was impeccable. Every waiter and waitress working tended to me and made sure I was ok, and the manager came to check if I needed anything and thanked me for coming in. For me to come in on my lunch hour, get seated and served immediately, food came out within 7 minutes, I was able to relax and eat quietly and still had 25 mins to spare on my lunch break. So the experience here was not only bad but disappointing... 1st time & will say unfortunately this will probably be the last I'll be attending this place. After we got seated took me and my posse 5-8 minutes to get acknowledged & place a drink order... he right away apologized explained that they were short staffed & his line cook that got pulled to serve tables for the day... so immediately I understood the reasoning for the delay & put my "patience" meter to the max. But unfortunately things got worse.. even given the establishment the benefit of the doubt of being short staff, we got our drinks shortly after & maybe 10 minutes later we placed our food order, very orders; omelets ( 3 of them ) and the MVP platter... we ordered some tots as an appetizer to share while the entree were being made as we knew it will take long given they were short handed. So we waited... and waited ... and waited ... and 55 minutes later, YES FIFTY FIVE MINUTES!!... and we didn't get our appetizers, nor we got refills on our coffee & other drinks we ordered. So when we spoke to our waiter he claimed that THE PRINTER BROKE (but be aware everyone else around us were getting their foods and/or drinks ) so that excuse was unacceptable, then he tried to accommodate us with a free appetizer & we humbly declined and left. I'm a fairly patient individual but today my patience was tested, wish this place the best of success but is a long road ahead given today's experience!! read more

First two times they got my order wrong and they 3rd time I waited 20 mins before someone would come and take my order so i ended up leaving and going somewhere else before anyone took my drink order. This place recently opened in Garfield, NJ. Its a really amazing place it has a wide selection of southern breakfast food and other common varieties for lunch/ dinner. I highly recommend this place, it is also easy on the wallet so no fretting here. The staff is very friendly as well. The food is good for the price. It is also on the order of a denny's and Ihop. I will definitely be returning here for dinner. However one question why does the coffee creamer look like that? read more

I ordered on yelp via GrubHub and they didn't get my order when it was confirmed for 30 minutes. I don't recommend doing this ever again. It is very confusing to find the area where they give take out, I literally had a manager come over to help because I was so confused. After they realized they didn't have the order, they let me reorder which took about 10 minutes which was fine. The staff was super nice and super helpful, especially after my order didn't show up. They even helped to make sure everything was there when leaving. Because my order wasn't received, they get 2 stars only because the staff was so nice otherwise it would be 1. Fix your ordering problems then I will update my review Update: I haven't ordered online since my first experience but "not receiving from a 3rd party" is no means my problem, if you allow it and it doesn't work, your company failed to deliver, the experience of ordering from multiple locations is something you offer, if it doesn't work, turn it off. Additionally, GrubHub via Yelp is used around the world without issue so come on?! Anyway, the staff is amazing and I came here in person to order and the manager recognized me immediately from my bad experience and help to make it great. I don't understand how anyone can rate this restaurant lower than 4 or 5 star. In fact all of the 3, 2 and 1 stars reviews should be removed. They are a bunch of Karen's and snowflakes. I decided to come in with a friend for a quick bite to eat since I seen that had $5 lunch specials but I should of turned around and walk out! First off every available table was dirty and it was only one person working, she wasn't very polite at all either. From the time we entered the door til the time she came and took our order it had to be approximately 20 mins! Maybe today was a bad day hey who knows but I feel like maybe adding another person to help out especially when you have 11 tables and only one person working. The waitress barley speaks English causing frequent mistakes in my order. Not coming anymore. It's frustrating repeating myself numerous times. Wanted choc chip pancakes , there were no choc chips. I ordered French toast and had to much cinnamon made it difficult to eat. Wanted to use the 10 percent off coupon from yelp, they marked my coupon as used and gave me a check with no 10 percent discount. We walked in there and we waited to be seated, we were told to sanitize and take a seat at a table. We sat down and waited for our order to be taken (which didn't happen) the waitresses were too busy counting their tips and looking for their phones to even bother taking our order. We looked through the whole menu and we waited about 10-15 minutes when we decided to leave and go to a near IHOP. The manager/owner saw us made eye contact with me and left to the bathroom, came out and passed by us a few times and didn't try to help. This is the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. And after reading these reviews I'm glad I didn't spend my money there. Their staff needs training. The manager needs to be more attentive to its customers. This was my first visit to a Huddle House. For some reason, I think the name would be great for a horror movie. It was a Monday at 2:30pm. I took a seat at a table and took a menu from the stand. I never understood why other eateries take away the menu after ordering since a diner may decide later on that they want more. I ordered the Huddle Burger with fries. I enjoyed my meal while listening to a variety of tunes and watching local cable news on the television. The burger came with some assembly required. It was a bit messy with napkins a necessity. The food was fine. You don't get the massive amount of fries that you may see at other places. Still being hungry, I added a bowl of chili to my order. That also was fine and also snack sized. Came here tonight I saw it had finally opened after a long time of seeing sign in window on way to my office each day. Expectations were much higher the experience. Server was very nice but the place has a not ready to be open yet feel. Staff is eager but does not seem clear on their roles and I could not be sure who was floor manager and who was district manager. In a new opening I would expect senior staff there and involved. Portions of food we good I actually expected more but food was tasty and proper temperature. While I was there I saw two older couples come in and leave and not sure the reason. Huddle House will have to work hard given the large amount of places to eat in the area many catering to the large Eastern European community. I will go back in the Summer and see how it shakes out but for now it is important to keep in mind if you stop in they have some kinks to work out. Parking was easy and right next to Wawa so getting gas and other goodies is a snap. read more

I really like the prices, but it seems that you get what you pay for. First time I went for breakfast the potatoes were undercooked. The biscuits and gravy, the eggs and waffle was OK at best. I decided to give this place another shot for breakfast and asked for the potatoes to be well done. Hahaha...they came out almost deep fried and not edible. I could only scrape off the "well done" potato from the top of the hash brown to eat. If I do give this place another shot (which is doubtful), it won't be for breakfast. So my family and I decided to visit this place to try their breakfast last Sunday and boy was that a complete mistake. I understand with COVID there are strict protocols for restaurants but being seated by a door on a cold & rainy day is not appropriate. When I expressed my feelings about sitting there and how we were cold one of the waitresses was very quick to express how she was about to get off and she was gonna get someone else to help me. Someone did come to help but not only did they have an attitude but they attempted to seat my family & I by the bathroom which is another no no. I told them I wasn't about to basically sit by toilets, the waitress basically continued to have an attitude about this situation and finally sat us down in the middle of the restaurant. I have been here twice. The shakes are okay but thick. Waffles are also okay but you can get better elsewhere. The pancakes are a total flop. They are humongous but don't taste well. I got the Oreo pancakes and the texture varied throughout the pancake. The middle was not fully cooked and other parts were bread-like. Also had a burnt Oreo taste. I threw them in the garbage. The biscuits are also disappointing. They didn't taste fresh and had a spongy texture throughout-no crispy outside. Get your biscuits from pillsbury at the store, KFC, or Popeyes. My parents went in to eat at the new location here in San Angelo. My dad went and ordered 2 meals. It was only suppose to be about $18 well the cashier decided out was ok to give herself a generous tip. My dad didn't know what happened unt he got to his truck and looked at the receipt. She gave herself a $60 tip. He went back in to tell them he did not approve the tip especially on something that was only 18 bucks. They told him they'd refund the money. So they charged only the meals he ordered. He paid again..it should have only been again about 18 bucks it came out to 23 dollars they proceeded to add a tip. Its ridiculous that they did it 2 times. They have yet to get their money back and were charged almost 100 bucks for 2 meals. And the girl has not been reprimanded for doing what she did.
