This is our first visit to this restaurant. We went specifically for the Oktobererfest offerings. The atmosphere was that of a neighborhood bar with large TV screens and a family friendly restaurant. This is all about the burger. I remember coming here for dinner with my parent for prime rib and back then the best salad bar. So when I got asked where I wanted to go this weekend and a good burger was mentioned I was all in. Why this has not been a regular for me the burger lover is beyond me! I had the best burger. I like em rare. Mooing rare. And a lot of restaurants won't do that anymore. I got the juiciest tasty thick burger. The bun is grilled and charred which adds that a layer of grill flavor that you don't often get. And the price is crazy reasonable. I have friends that come for the steak all the time and love it. I have been coming to this local restaurant since I was a kid growing up. The decor is the same inside which makes it so fun and nostalgic. It is a BBQ/grilling restaurant at heart. You come here for grilled and bbq things. All of the food is good, but those are outstanding. They do basics very well. The steaks are juicy and tender. They are exactly as you request, even on the very rare side how I like it. The burgers are delicious. I don't understand why anyone would go for a fast food burger when this quality is right here for about the same price. True story. The burger is superb. Tender, juicy and delicious. I will never understand why this gem is not rated higher here. I've been coming here for years now and I can confidently state that I have never had a bad meal. Tonight I'm having a new dish for me that's shrimp, spinach, lump crab eat and penne with a lovely pink vodka sauce. It is absolutely delicious!! The place is soooo Seventies. The barbecue is good. I would be reviewing the food but what struck me was how awful the staff was while we were eating and leaving, They close at 9 pm, we were finishing our meal around 8 pm. A swarm of workers come and start folding and removing the chairs and line them up at the entrance. The place is one big dining room so all this activity is happening before us. That was annoying. My mom is in a wheelchair and when we started to get ready to leave a lady comes over and takes our plates then starts spraying windex while my husband is adjusting the wheel chair practically spraying him in the face. Also tried the knackwurst and bratwurst platter, loved the warm potato salad dressed with broth and a hint of vinegar but the red cabbage was dried out argh. The smoke wafting thru the parking lot and patio convinced us to try the Memphis-style bbq pork, just $6 for a fantastic sandwich with a side of coleslaw. So even when there's no German food you'll do fine here. Six taps (Guinness Blue Moon Stella Yuengling Coors light and Weihenstephan) plus full bar. This is a low-key place for locals, offers an early bird menu, low noise perfect for adult conversation, slow service tho better be patient. I'm definitely a fan. read more

I have been wanting to visit this place for some time. I was highly disappointed in the service and ambiance. I didn't get to try the food as I left before the entre arrived. The place was busy with the local crowd I guess but my boyfriend and I felt very awkward and out of place due to the fact that they had a specific culture we didn't match in. Great food! The prime rib is excellent. The lobster special is awesome (call ahead for that one). The tiramisu and rice pudding are out of this world. I'm sure the food would of been better if the service wasn't so bad. My husband had the sauerbraten. He said it was pretty good. I ordered the lobster clam bake. It was brought to the table with no utensils or drawned butter. By the time the overwhelmed waiter came back everything was cold. What a shame. On top of it the man sitting at the next table had his phone on very loud so we could all hear what he was watching on you tube as he was passing gas. Will I go back... not sure. Raising cost basis is not as well but in any location they do need to make profits or go Chapter 11/7. It is clean, has lower prices than most locations with much better food quality. The staff he hires remains for decades so he does take care of them well I wager. Going back again real soon as I have to ReNew my New Jersey Drivers Licenses at the State Motor Vehicle office in Lodi, Bergen County, New Jersey. A great spot for eating with friends because everyone can choose just what they like - the Golden Pub has a huge menu and regardless of which section you order off of they do it well. Some favorites include the ribs (falling off the bone perfection), grilled scallops, filet tips, chicken parm, or anything with their homemade Italian dressing. I've also found them to be flexible with my changing dietary restrictions (eg chicken parm without breaded/fried chicken). Whatever I order, it's always well prepared and delicious. The service is friendly and familiar, and there's not a ton of staff turnover which is always a good sign. Family-run, community-oriented business with an experienced and friendly owner. This was my first visit to The Golden Pub but, it won't be my last. A group of us had decided to dine here on the suggestion of one of our participants and we were not disappointed. We ordered the BBQ Sampler, BBQ Sandwich, burger and the Sliced Filet. I had the sliced filet and it was so tender and cooked perfectly. Baked potato and steamed veggies came with as well as a cup of VERY good New England Clam Chowder. I couldn't believe that I had a choice of five soups! Most places give three. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and, unfortunately, no one had room for dessert! We'll have to return and be sure to try those as well! read more

This place is offensive to me. They claim to be about BBQ when its not.. Here's the breakdown Food: 0 Stars: This place is an absolute fraud! This place doesn't know anything about "Memphis BBQ" First off Memphis BBQ is more about the dry rub than it is about BBQ sauce. Second, in Memphis style BBQ they use more of a vinegar sauce than the traditional Kansas City style Sweet BBQ sauce that we all like ( Think Sweet baby Ray's) Third, BBQ especially if it is smoked as they claim it is, has a smoke ring around the meat which indicates low and slow cooking. They fail on all counts. I had their chicken and ribs and it was god awful. The sauce was bland and they used way too much on the meat. They also have a clam bar which looks like it hasn't been changed for a week. Service: 0 Stars: The lady who took my order was grumpy and nasty. I was very offended. I went here on a Sunday around 5 PM. The food here was great! It started with amazing bread. Then I got the BBQ platter and my boyfriend had the baked ravioli. Both were great. Smells like rotted ass. The rag the miserable lady that was cleaning the table was using hasn't been washed...in years. She must have already killed her sense of smell. Smelled horrendous. She abruptly took our order... I wanted to run but with two kids in tow, I was stuck. I ordered the sizzling steak. With mushrooms and onion. I hade two crackers. My steak was a grilled muscle. I swear. Will not lie. It was seasoned with air. Yep. Air. No salt and no pepper. The mushrooms were raw. Yep! Nothing was sizzlin' I can't. I'm going to go pewk. The oyster bar looked like hell. I wouldn't eat from there if I was a fly. Rather eat shit. I'm sad. I was so hungry and couldn't eat more than crackers. The plates. The plates were soooo old not a spot on them looked shiny. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!! The first time I went here was for a birthday party and enjoyed the food and atmosphere but when I went back the 2nd time with my friends.... totally different. Ok so we tried Que Pasta across the street last week and we wanted to try this one at some point in time and that happened to be today. Before we parked I checked here to check their reviews and to my dismay I see 2 and a half stars. I always like to give places the benefit of doubt if I see at least someone has given 5 or 4 stars, but omg we couldn't even take the food to go cause it was so bad. I feel bad cause the waiter was very forgetful but he was nice. At one point I asked him for my drink and he looked down at my empty cup and said "ok, I'll get that for you" and there was only ONE other table there with customers who were there before us and we're a small group. 7 minutes pass by of me watching him talk to another employee, fiddle with his fingers, go back and forth between the customer area and the back (mind you, there's no customers because the other group already left) and I still had no drink. I needed my drink so bad too! It was hard to put down that food since it tasted like something out of an episode of "restaurant nightmares"... I really think they should ask for help from a professional that has owned a restaurant that has kept its momentum... I was told that many years back when it first opened that the food was good, but it's barely edible... Someone else left a review with 5 stars but wrote that this isn't a 5 star restaurant. Just ask yourself if that makes sense. I still feel bad for the girl cleaning table (young maybe early twenties) and the waiter (late 40s maybe early 50s), because they weren't bad people BUT I WISH we were so friggin warned about the food. And who serves pasta, ITALIAN PASTA, with a spoon? And chicken parm isn't suppose to be soggy with a watered down sauce. And the ribs were horrible. THIS IS WHAT THEYRE SUPPOSED TO SPECIALIZE IN! I love the Golden Pub... I love the mushroom soup it's amazing. Also the staff is very friendly and the owner is a doll! The prices are fair and the food is yummy. It is a very laid back atmosphere and there is a dude that hangs at the bar named Lambet! He is a trip.. Really nice guy and he will buy you shots all night if you sit next him. Ha ha ha!
