We visited this location unexpectedly for date night. Before ordering the waiter offered us an infused drink. As an appetizer we ordered the cheese balls which a typical traditional Brazilian appetizer. They were good but not as great as I expected it to be. For our main we ordered a tomahawk, lobster mac and cheese and potatoes with cheese. The steak and the sides were amazing. We left Fogo de Chão at Garden State Plaza extremely disappointed. Upon being seated, we were quickly steered toward the Full Churrasco ($74/person) experience, which is advertised as including premium cuts such as Picanha, Bone-In Ribeye, Lamb Chops, Filet, and more. Unfortunately, the reality did not match the marketing. Instead of being offered these premium selections, we were repeatedly served chicken and lower-cost meats, which filled us up long before we had a chance to try many of the cuts prominently featured on the menu. To make matters worse, when one of the premium cuts finally came around, my wife became full and saved a portion to take home. We were then told by the manager that we could not take it to go because they consider themselves a "buffet-style restaurant." This was surprising, as nowhere during the ordering process was this clearly explained, nor is that the dining experience they promote. We paid $74 per person expecting to enjoy the meats advertised and reasonably assumed that any uneaten portion of food we had already been served could be taken home. The manager repeatedly stated that it was their policy and even acknowledged that the food would be thrown away rather than allowing us to take home what we had paid for. That was frustrating and wasteful. The service only added to the disappointment. Our waitress lacked personality, provided very little explanation of how the dining experience worked, and failed to mention the no-takeout policy before encouraging us to order the most expensive option on the menu. Had these policies and limitations been clearly communicated upfront, our expectations would have been very different. For the price charged, the experience felt misleading, the service was poor, and the value simply wasn't there. We will not be returning. read more

This is a Father's Day review as reservations were NOT honored on time. Place was jammed and tons of people waiting outside doors to get to their booked spots. They had to bring out apps to help people curb their hunger while waiting forever. This was detrimental to many families as elderly often are diabetic or handicapped and we saw many walking with canes begging to be seated as we also pleaded 2 were diabetic in our family and 45 min past booking wasn't acceptable as we would have went elsewhere . Anyway we sat and it took another 45 mins for meat to show up. We waited on long line for buffet which was decent quality . First meat was 45 mins but flow was more like 1.15hrs. Good quality and taste but it took 2 hrs to get a slice of pineapple and then we stopped waiter carrying he argued with us he had to bring it to next level. Understand Father's Day very busy time and best to try on a non holiday, but considering this is a worldwide chain they should have been better organized. We won't be returning as Newark has better Brazilian BBQ spots and don't ever treat their customer this way. $500 btw for 4 people ! read more

It's loud though something to keep in mind and you need to be ready to eat a lot. if you choose the option of eat all types of meat they comes around constantly giving you meat. Until you flip to red the circle card on your table. They also have plenty selection if you prefer to eat more clean and light food. Also the bar area where you get all the salads, cold cuts, etc it's phenomenal with lots of sections for everyone. One thing I would change when I'll go back don't say yes for every meat they offer you. select the good ones of your preference or asked them for it. Example ( filled mignon) well done/ medium well/ or rare wish to me they look all almost rare not my style so make sure you tell them. They're very helpful and calls each other's to serve. For a mall location, the interior of Fogo de Chão is surprisingly upscale -- you really feel like you've stepped into a fine dining restaurant. The ambiance is elegant, lively, and definitely sets the tone for a special meal. That said, the cost is very expensive. At $73 per person for the Full Churrasco Experience, even with it being all-you-can-eat, it can feel a bit steep especially when you're only getting one slice of meat each time the gauchos come by. The staff does come around frequently, which I appreciated since it never felt like they were trying to delay service or keep the portions tiny. The Market Table is a mix of hits and misses. Some items are really good; I loved all the cheeses, dried meats, and peppers, especially when you want a break from the meat. But there are also quite a few mediocre items that feel like filler. The sides included with the meal yuca fries and mashed potatoes were unfortunately cold, which was disappointing since so many offerings at the Market Table are also chilled. A couple of hot, fresh sides would really elevate the experience. Overall, we did enjoy our evening here: great service, beautiful atmosphere, tasty meats. I love Fogo de Chão and usually go for special occasions or group outings. This time my husband and I went for our anniversary, and overall we had a nice meal. We did the churrasco experience, and while the service was definitely on the slower side, we still enjoyed the food. They took a while to come by with the different cuts of steaks so that made me take away a star, we also asked for a certain cut to come out again and it never did. This wouldn't be my top Fogo location, it's smaller than others and being inside the mall takes away a bit of the ambiance , but it's still a good option if this is the closest Fogo to you. read more

We took my wife out for a belated Mother's Day dinner celebration, and it was such a wonderful surprise! Fogo truly got everything right this time--a complete turnaround from our last visit. Our server was attentive and thoughtful, regularly refilling our water, bringing more of that delicious cheese bread, and clearing dishes without being asked. I booked a table for two at Fogo de Chão for my nephew and me. I hadn't seen him in almost two years, and because he is like a son to me, I was really looking forward to enjoying the meal and catching up. There was a great deal to appreciate. The food was delicious, the servers who carved the meats were excellent, the décor was beautiful, and the Brazilian music created a wonderful atmosphere. Unfortunately, the experience changed when the hostess approached our table while we were still eating and asked us to make a charitable donation. I explained that I had already donated to the charity, but she continued by asking if I would donate again. My nephew eventually made a donation and received a gift card. My concern is not with supporting a charity; I believe in giving and have donated many times. It was the timing and persistence of the request. Being approached during our meal interrupted a meaningful conversation and made us feel uncomfortable. A request like this would be much more appropriate after the meal, perhaps when presenting the check, when guests can consider it without having their dining experience disrupted. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere were very good. Waiting for your waiter for anything takes forever. The lamb and garlic steak are great when you can get it. I asked three times for lamb and it never came back. She made fabulous drinks. I tried Superfruit Lemonade (VeeV Açai Spirit, Grand Marnier, fresh strawberry, blueberry, lemon) I thought I left something behind so I called. We were a party of 14 and in that mix there was a special needs 14 yr old who was obviously a special needs child. I ordered the full churrasco for her and as the meat started to arrive, I instructed the server to place it on my plate since she could not grab it, so I can cut it for her and her younger sister who was also asking me to cut it, so they would be able to eat it. But, Very quickly and abrupt our waitress came and whisper, you will not be able to eat the serving you order, you have to pay per person for the full churrasco. I looked at her and told her she's special needs I need to cut her food. Then, disappeared with no explanation or never came back to clarify- I didn't know if I was going to get my original order, I also wanted to get an extra plate to put my kids bones so she didn't keep thinking I wanted to eat my kids food.. At this point it was just sad that either a manager made that call to instruct her to go tell me this.. or to train her to be so hasty and harsh and assume that everyone wants free meat. I don't mind rules but you have to be able to use common sense for every situation. There has to be some kind of flexibility- as a mom and as a mom to a special needs child I felt watched like a guard and uncomfortable that I in some way couldn't touch my kids meat or else I would get reprimanded. I could see having parties here or attending with a large group of friends. They say you will get an offering of 14 different meats, but we counted only 6. For the amount of money you are paying this was so not worth it. Also, we prefer our meat medium rare and every time they came by they offered us well done meat only. When we inquired about medium rare, they said they will have that and come back around, but they never did. I also don't know if something I ate was off, could have been from the salad bar, which was mediocre, but out of nowhere I got violently ill and had to run to the restroom to throw up. What arrived was one banana cut in half and four tiny strips of yuca, each about the size of an Orbit chewing gum. The mashed potatoes were spread thin on the plate, like butter on toast. Upon walking into the restaurant, I was in awe by the gorgeous interior design as it had a very lavish feel. We decided to do the full rodizio experience which came out to $70 pp. It includes the market table which had a phenomenal, large variety of fruits, cheeses, meats, salads, rice and beans and more! In addition, you receive 4 family style sides: maduros, polenta, garlic mashed potatoes and Pão de queijo. & the sides were just as delicious as the meat. We ate bacon wrapped chicken & steak, picanha, sausage & more that I can't remember but the list of meats that comes around is extensive. In addition, their staff is phenomenal. We were constantly being checked in on- but not in an overbearing way. They came with clean plates when needed & cleared dishes often, when necessary. My husband and I were full from our dinners, but one of the servers insisted we get a dessert because it is complimentary on your bday. We picked the papaya cream & it was unlike anything I've ever tasted! I placed an order through DoorDash -- this was only my second time ordering -- and once again, the experience was terrible. The food arrived incomplete. I specifically ordered my steak medium rare, but it was packed well done. They completely forgot the rice and salad. I also ordered one pound of chicken legs, but they only sent three small pieces. On top of that, the packaging was awful. Whoever is in charge of preparing the takeout orders is extremely careless and clearly not paying attention, because nothing was done according to the order. Let me just say I didn't feel like meat when we ate at Fogo de Chao. You really need to be in a carnivorous mood to dine at a Brazilian steak house. Our server was really nice and the young man who went table to table selling some "healthy" alcoholic beverage was really passionate about his product. We bought one from him...it was good. I also loved my passion fruit caipirinha. If we'd just had drinks at the bar and cheese bread, this would be a 5 star review. But my fish entree I ordered was overpriced and not good. The three others in my party did the rodizio. 2 did the full monte and 1 did the single all you can eat choice. This was REALLY expensive and they said the cuts of meat weren't the best. 2 of them were sick after...not sure if it was the rodizio or something on the salad bar. The today's outdoor temperature was touching 104 Deg., F, and we felt like having chilled seafood rather than heavier meat dishes. Fogo de Chao offers an enticing, by description, seafood tower at $112, plus tax, plus tip. After tasting the seafood offering, I can officially state: This was the worst (I repeat in case somebody missed it, the worst) meal we have had in at least 10 years. All of our seafood tasted like it was boiled many months ago and kept frozen since. It was so tasteless that we asked for ketchup to generate some, any taste. To no avail. The best imaginable comparison I can make, taste-wise, is to eating grass after it was sprayed against crabgrass. I strongly advise against eating either grass or seafood at Fogo de Chao. After we complained describing the food as HORRIBLE, the server responded by: "I will let them know". "Them" have never materialized. I regret now for not asking that the manager taste this abomination of the food. We were so disgusted that we did not want to remain in the restaurant any longer. We paid the bill and left. For the price point, Fogo de Chao missed the mark. We made reservations for Christmas dinner. We were sat at the small tables right next to the bar. The music was incredibly loud and we were constantly surrounded by people either walking by or standing and talking next to our table. Our water glasses were dirty and there was food on my seat. The paper menu was covered in stains. It took over 10 minutes for someone to greet us and take our order. They asked if it was our first time there, we said it was and then they proceeded to poorly explain how everything works. We ordered entrees thinking that we would just get one serving of meat, sides and unlimited salad bar. This is not the case. The entrees just allow unlimited servings of the one style of meat you pick. Waiting for the one server with your style of meat was unpleasant because they were scarce. Once we got the meat, it was pretty good. The tableside upselling is tacky, but we did purchase the $27 "jumbo" shrimp cocktail. The shrimp had a weird texture and were not fully cleaned. We received the sides way before we found the server with our style meat. The mashed potatoes were a soupy texture. The fried polenta was stale. The mini popover were raw in the middle. We ordered a bottle of wine and the wine service is very formal. The bottle was presented, cork was offered - the whole show. That was nice. I ordered a specific ice wine with desert and was given a different one because they were out of the one i ordered. I questioned the server and the manager was very dismissive and snobby - he said they gave me a "better one". I would have appreciated being told that before being given something random that I didn't order. Overall, the price does not match the quality offered. Staff very attentive, example: asked multiple times if we wanted fresh plates, checked water drink levels, etc. Before today was not sure would come again but third time was the charm! This is the third location of Fogo De Chao that we've been to. I normally really enjoy the food and service in each visit but there was something off about the floor plan of this venue. (We've been to NYC, Orlando and now Paramus) The extra seating on the left of the restaurant just gets not so great access to the market table. You will need to go down 5 or 6 steps of stairs before you get to the table. The selection of the market table also felt smaller compared to the one in NYC. The steak selection is also fewer and we felt like the options were just not flowing properly to where we were seated. If we were to drive half hour to go Bergen county, we might as well drive to NYC as the vibe is on the higher end and service is better. read more

So this was a place I took my wife for the Valentine's Day gift. I made a reservation a week ago at 6 pm. We set within 5 minutes when we arrived there. I did request semi-private so the table was inside. Our waitress explained very nicely about how to use the green and the red cards to get your meat as they come by. All of the meats were freshly out of the roasting bar served warm to your plate. Service was prompt and many team members stop by to check to see how we were doing. Very good service.
