Great, hardworking and always super cool staff, menu selections are what I remembered and it just feels, for the most part, that they haven't skipped a beat! Garlic fries are a must. Their sliced steak is good, and I love to get the breaded mushrooms as a starter/side with the steak. Salads still being served in those wooden bowls but, hey, they're new now! lol. I wish I could have rated this place higher but it genuinely only deserves what I'm rating it, in my opinion. For starters, they only had 1 person working the bar and dining area but I saw 3 other workers who could have been helping out. When we walked in we seated ourselves and weren't asked about drinks for a good 15 minutes. Food was good, I definitely didn't hate it. The menu is smaller than I expected it to be. We got shrimp scampi, hot dog and fries and lobster ravioli. It was good but nothing earth shattering. Unfortunately, We did not get our food until about an hour later. Once our food came we were already wanting to leave because it was just too much waiting. One table actually got up and left shortly after they were seated. I kinda wish we did the same but the food was good. I would give this place another shot at some point but I'm not in a rush to go back. I'm hoping the next time we visit they have more workers so we can feel the full experience of what it could be like dining at this place. read more

Unsanitary concerns. If you only saw the creature in my half eaten salad, for the staff to not be concerned and simply stating "it happens when you buy salad" as the response as they remove it away from the table. WHAT?! Use caution when ordering. Been going here for over 12 years, which means pre and post restaurant fire. DP's will always be a place of nostalgia for me as I have been coming since I was born. So happy to finally be able to try it after reopening. While it's definitely modernized in appearance it still has all the dark bar charm! The wait staff was so friendly and great at making recommendations. My friends and I started with the breaded mushrooms and lobster sliders. Both really hit the spot. I got the sliced steak as my entree with the garlic fry upgrade and it was cooked perfectly. The service was very nice. Albiet a wee bit slow, but quite acceptable. The place is clean with a long bar along one wall with about 20 seats. Along the other wall are about 10 tables. It's an interesting menu with many options. I thought my cost for baked codfish was on the low side, however, the meal was on the small side. I ordered some garlic fries with the meal and they were mushy and almost tasteless. We had to make a reservation for Saturday night and that was a good thing because the place was full up. I found this spot on IG recently and decided to stop in with a friend. It's a small spot but wasn't overly crowded which was nice ! They don't have toooo many tap options for beer but definitely had a good alcohol selection overall. The food menu isn't too big but we figured the food must be good since they were pumping food out from the kitchen all night . and some regulars were sitting next to us at the bar and said everything is great. I've been going to Patsy's in Patterson for years, same with Landmark in Livingston, etc. I absolutely love those places because not only is the food great but the nostalgic atmosphere really lends lots of the dining experience. Enter DP's pub in Garfield. This place has outstanding food at extremely reasonable prices and a casual, divey atmosphere that really can't be beat. We ordered oysters, mussels, shrimp and crab meat appetizer. Four salads, two orders of scallops, stuffed shrimp, shrimp Parmesan, a bottle of wine and two drinks. The bill was a ridiculous $161. Anywhere else I would've been glad to pay double. This is an outstanding, excellent find that I will absolutely return to as soon as I can. Kudos. read more

Apparently DP's was closed for a while, sold and reopened. Since I hadn't been there in a while I decided to revisit. Not much changed, except now they accept reservations and credit cards. The menu is pretty much the same as always. A nice selection of fresh seafood entrees at very reasonable prices. Bacon wrapped scallops were spectacular! Cajun sea bass over rice was another winner. The portions aren't huge( you could probably eat 2) but neither is the bill. 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 5 craft beers came to a walloping $82! We had a really good experience here ordering a smattering of seafood appetizers, including the Blue Point Oysters, steamed clams, raw clams, mussels, and bacon-wrapped sea scallops. For entrees we got the broiled scallops and the stuffed shrimp. The meal was really good and the beers on the menu were great. The only minor thing I will mention, with the added note that we came here on a Tuesday, was that they could probably use one more person working. The woman running the bar was also running the tables and was the facilitator for the kitchen. The place is small, but if they just had one more person, they'd refill drinks and bring the food faster. You will walk in hungry, you will leave satisfied. On a busy day - servers are friendly, but things get hectic, food takes forever, but you can have plenty of time to talk with your table. I prefer to sit at the bar for an early dinner. The house wines are mini bottles of Cavit. The beer is cold. Everything is delicious. They serve some of the freshest oysters you'll ever get for under $3/ea. Located on River Road in Garfield, this old-school and basic establishment has been here for years where loyal patrons return to year after year. After being seated, I had to wait awhile longer to place my order as Diane was the only server and working hard. For starter, I had their fried clams with tartar sauce and lemon. As an entree, I ordered one of today's special being the flounder oreganata accomplished by a small side salad and pasta in scampi sauce (butter, olive oil, white wine, garlic, red pepper flakes, and lemon juice). Food was really good, fresh and tasty especially the flounder and fried clams whose price is just right considering it's seafood. Not so much so. If I were them, as a pub, I'd definitely up my booze game - makes it hard to give a higher rating, though they're really more a 3 1/2 than a 3. Also, parking is terrible, I ended up parking a few blocks away. Aside from that, I loved the look and vibe of the place.
