We had lunch outside because we had our dogs with us. A little too noisy with traffic so close by and a little scary without any barriers at busy 4 corner intersection. Started with the French onion soup which had a nice savory beefy broth. Plenty of cheese and tasty onions. Recommend this one! I choose the lunch special of Barratta salad with roasted asparagus and red beets over a bed of arugula. Drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Absolutely delicious! Also sampled some fried chicken wings with the sweet Thai chili sauce which was very tasty. Everything was great until the sudden rain downpour. A Saturday treasure hunting trip ending with lunch at the Celtic Corner in Hawthorne, NJ. We ordered a Bowl of Chili and Old Bay Butter Chicken Wings for our appetizers.The chili had great flavor with a medium spice, tomatoes, red beans, plenty of meat with chopped redonions and chees on top. The wings were crispy flavorful with a mild heat from the Old Bay. The crispy chicken sandwich with added bacon was enjoyable and the secret sauce was had great flavor - but that's a secret! The black bean burger was well balanced with a crisp crust to the burger, avocado, pickled red onion green and a chipotle aioli which gave it some heat. Good for small or large groups or families. 3/15/24 We were actually on our way up to Shannon Rose when I thought I should check out other Irish Pubs/Restaurants and landed on Celtic Corner. Google maps show the large location, so we knew it wouldn't be a dive bar. I'm so glad we came and got to taste the food here. French Onion Soup was delicious! It's so good and flavorful. When I got my bowl, I thought they forgot the cheese, which wouldn't be an issue for me because I can't have cheese. I usually peel it off and give it to hubby, lol. He was sad there wasn't much cheese. But as I dug down, I saw more cheese, it seemed the bread flipped over, and all the cheese was underneath. LOL. Like they say, don't judge a book by its cover ;) We got the 6 piece Wings with the Hot Garlic Honey sauce. Tasty wings, just need more hot lol. It's so sticky! We both had to wash our hands after hehehe Guinness Beef Stew was so good! I wish I could eat beef, I would devour this! I took a piece of the carrots, and it was amazing! Came to this establishment because of the variety of menu items labeled GF. When my food came to the table and i bit into it i discovered that i had ordered a meal that was not infact GF even though the menu indicated that it was! I immediately told my waitress and she pointed out that the menu was wrong. She was very helpful in helping me pick out an alternative that was safe for me to eat. This establishment needs to think about the safety of their customers with food allergies and food sensativities and make sure the menu is labeled properly. Other than this mishap, this place was a cozy environment and i had a good time with my group. read more

I came to the Celtic corner thinking this was a great place. Right off the bat Cris the bartender had overserved a gentleman who was a personal injury lawyer at the end of the bar. This gentleman wanted to fight me. He shook my hand and squeezed it very hard. I have to say that I am to blame because I crowded him For one second. But he was clearly over the limit, and he was the type of person that I typically asked to leave my establishments. There is no place for fighting in this day and age in an Irish bar. He is a very lucky patron that he didn't learn that I can handle myself I let Cris know that there was an incident, and I believe I met the owner who said " there's not gonna be any trouble will there be?" and I said no. You should be very careful about over serving customers. I barely drink and I had one cocktail. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup, which was amazing. I travel all over the world and I will tell you that that soup was incredible. The cheesecake was also very good. The coffee was cold. And then to top it all off Cris the bartender accuses me of snorting something at the booth. He told me it was time to go because he saw me snorting something at the booth. I am a musician and I was organizing my harmonica case I felt very insulted not only that I couldn't believe he didn't give me an authentic apology. I really hope that the owner will give me a call to discuss the situation. That is what a real man would do. Came here for a work lunch with a colleague. It was just the bartender working so no one was by the entrance. We just figured we'd sit down. There was 2 other booths taken & a large holiday party on the side room. We both ordered winter ales and rumchata peppermint fire ball shots - delicious. For food, she got a tuna melt with truffle fries & I got the steak & arugula with a side salad. Steak was cooked medium but very chewy. Great place for brunch on a Sunday! My friend and I decided to choose this place based on the convenience of the location. Parking wasn't the greatest. There was some street parking (super minimal) but there was also a parking lot dedicated for their customers a block down. The restaurant had a great vibe - perfect temperature, good music, clean with friendly staff. I'm curious to see what the nightlife would be like in this place. Waitress was super attentive. We did the bottomless mimosas for $20 each and she made sure to refill when needed and provided us with excellent service. Food was great!!!!!! I honestly did not expect it to be so good! Second time coming here, first time was a great experience, sat at the bar ordered great drinks, and great service. On this occasion it was very disappointing, with two kids we dropped $100 on: - calamari, was barely cooked, very limp looking, and bland way over priced at $17 - chicken tenders and fries (kids), fries were barely mediocre w border line stale oil - Mac and cheese (kids), was very bland and low quality, but that's not unexpected - cottage pie, bland and 90% potato, and no peas, came out unbearably hot - nacho burger special, a basic burger with some chips in it - Sam Adams was fine, cider sangria came, but the Guinness was served freezing cold. If the service was average this might warrant 3 stars, but the server was not attentive at all. We had to get out of our seats 3 times, once to check on the slow entrees, once to order another drink, and once for the check. The server did not check if we were happy with everything, was absent. The owner/operator was floating around, but didn't notice things going sideways for us. Disappointing, I really wanted this to be our new place. read more

Last night was the first time I ate here. Pre Covid I went for a happy hour with some coworkers and had a great experience, so I wanted to come back for a dinner experience. Ambiance is great! We got there a little after 5pm and was quiet, but picked up once 5:45/6 rolled around. I had a grilled cheese with fries and it was really good! My company also enjoyed their meals. Started out with a few cocktails from there specialty menu. I did no like the blowing raspberries, but they were nice enough to swap it to a glass of wine. The Brussels sprouts were definitely the star of the show, delicious! The stew was tasty as well, the meat was a little dry in my opinion. As for the Shepards pie with the lamb shank it was good. I wish it was more like a traditional Shepards pie than a stew with a scoop of mashed potato's, not what I expected. Overall good food and good service. We will be back to try more things! read more

Meh... This place has a quaintly dank atmosphere and we experienced decent service on our visit, but I hardly left there impressed. According to the adverts plastered on the walls and windows, this joint has its fair share of happy hour specials. Otherwise, there is a fine selection of beer from the tap, with at least two IPAs during my visit. The wine list seemed OK too. Though the menu here features some Western European fare, it's not necessarily Irish. Sure, there is bread pudding made with Irish soda bread, and there's Guinness fish & chips, shepherd's pie, and bangers and mash aren't Irish though. I digress... I ordered the fish & chips and asked for an extra piece of fish. The plate arrived with two pieces of fish. Really? Yep, our server confirmed that the meal only comes with one piece of fish -- and not exactly a huge piece at that. Furthermore, the consistency and flavor was identical to pollock (the same white fish used in the McDonald's fish sandwich, and just about every brand of frozen fish sticks). I'm not anti-pollock, but I'm pro-cod. And I'm fairly certain I didn't eat cod on this Tuesday night. Of course, neither are very expensive pieces of fish (pollock costs less), which is why there is really no value in this $17 dinner plate. As you can see from the photo, it comes with steak fries and some tartar sauce. Everything came out hot and fresh, but the price point for this dish weighs heavily on the side of the restaurant. Some folks might even call this dish a rip-off. The others at my table seemed happier with their food. One had the shepherd's pie, which looked beautiful with its fork tender lamb shank; another had a Reuben sandwich, which he said tasted good. Bottom line, I would come here again for a beer or two. But this place really should consider reevaluating and -- in some cases -- correcting its menu, with apropos price points. It's my understanding that the businesses that inhabit this piece of real estate tend to fail. While I don't wish that on any business, it would not surprise me if this joint eventually joined the ranks of those that previously tried to do business here. read more

The Celtic Corner is always a solid choice for dinner. Great drinks and even better food. The Chef's specials are always amazing! The Wonton Pork Nachos were on the specials and they were delicious. I've been coming to Celtic corner since they initially opened. I was new in the area and really loved how close it was to home. They have a solid array of drinks to choose from and for a reasonable price. The people who work at the bar are super friendly and make you feel comfortable. I've given the fish n chips and the Reuben quesadilla a try a couple times. It was definitely better tasting in the beginning but slowly started to fall off the ladder. Now, I usually just come here for a drink and Thursday night bingo! That's what I look forward to when Thursday's come around!! Be sure to stop by! I gave it a shot because I was excited about a new restaurant being so close was disappointed. The service was pretty bad. The place was empty when I went in so I sat myself at the bar and waited, and waited and waited! Finally someone came over. I ordered a beer and a salad with salmon. The beer was a bit flat and the food well just wasn't great. It was edible but at their prices I would expect more. As appetizers we had the Roasted Brussel Sprouts which was amazing !! The flavor that explodes in your mouth with each bite was phenomenal!! We also had the Honey Mustard and Butter Bay Wings, perfectly cooked.. !! Flavor was outstanding .. Entrees we had the Irish Beef Stew and The Shepards Pie.
