For one of their biggest advocates only a few short months ago.. i feel personally betrayed. Apparently, the amazing "new" chef had enough and went elsewhere, and the food today is borderline inedible. The service is poor, at best, and the staff, at least some of them, clearly need supervision. I felt as if the inmates were running the asylum last time I was there. Not prudish in any way, I was left feeling awkward and uncomfortable when a waitress jokingly yelled to someone in the kitchen, who had been ringing the food pick-up bell often enough to become maddening, "what do you want, b*tch?!?". But I felt heartbroken for the elderly couple next to us who were just trying to enjoy their meal. Which has proven very hard to do as of late. This restaurant needs a major overhaul, and a little respect to the local patrons who are imperative to its success. (or failure) read more

Y'all this restaurants a 10. Owner stopped by our table and he is legit born and raised in Ireland, so the feedback below is hilarious. Staff is incredible, always attentive, always friendly, and they always do their best to make sure you are well looked after. Justin was our bartender tonight, talk about a stand up guy. I actually couldn't make up a better bartender, gives ya a nick name, makes ya a drink, explains the difference between alliteration and assonance, this guy knows his stuff. Food is awesome; we went for taco Tuesday, what a pleasant surprise, tacos were a unique take on various sandwiches in tacos form; amazing. Vibe is awesome; I've been here a few times and each time can have a diff vibe, some nights are bumping, some night are some chill smart people trivia, some nights are karaoke, some nights it's just chillin with the cool bartenders, all in all you're in for an interesting time. My mother and I visited this establishment for the first time this past Friday at about 5:30pm. The tone was set from the moment we walked in. The entire restaurant was completely empty aside from two other couples, and when we requested to sit along the wall instead of at the tiny two top next to the smelly bathroom the person seating us had an attitude. She didn't answer us just sighed and said she'd be right back... guess she had to get permission to improve our seating in the empty restaurant. We ordered a red sangria and a gin and tonic. They were more like cranberry juice and flat tonic missing gin. Mom had chicken curry which was dry. Also the water the rice was cooked in had not been drained. My steak with mashed potatoes had a ton of gristle and the potatoes were lumpy with skins... I'd never go back. Bad service bad drinks bad food. Side note the restaurant was still empty an hour later when we left... has to be a sign. read more

I think on the night we went, place was short on kitchen staff. When we first arrived, dining room was fairly empty. We placed our orders right away. As we waited for our meals the dining room started filling up. And we waited and we waited. I looked around after 25 minutes of boredom and hunger to see what other diners were having, and only one table had any food. Everyone was waiting and waiting. No food was being served. It took over a half hour to get served, and and was served at room temperature, not hot. Ordered side of asparagus, meatloaf entree, and grilled reuben. The asparagus was good. I will warn you, it was deep fried though. That would not have been my preference, but it is a pub after all. The meatloaf tasted good and came with mashed potatoes (cold) and overly garlicky broccoli. The reuben could have been good, but by the time it reached the table it was cool and cheese was not melted, and hardly any russian dressing or sauerkraut. The meat was lean though. The condiments on the table were gross. The mustard bottle was dirty, a complete turnoff, with days of old dried up crusty dark mustard on the dispensing hole. It all started innocently in the morning during my daily instagram fix. A perfect fish and chips that was peering into my soul. I sat staring at it for over 10 mins in wanton lust. Fast-forward into the day around 11 am, the need for fish and chips had taken over my body and there was nothing that would stop me from having this dish. Did a quick search and found this place nearby that would hopefully tame this intense craving. By 1:00 pm, there was no turning around. The order had been placed and then sat in waiting until pickup time. Here's the problem. Someone is masquerading as a chef in this establishment or the B Team is on lunch duty. What a letdown. This is by far the worst fish n chips that i've ever encountered in my many laps around the sun. The chips were ok, but then again, how could you possibly mess them up. This place is a huge breath of new life into Hawthorne's dining scene. I was so happy to see, too, that they were able to get a pretty nice size "dining room" outside kind of half under the building (looked like it had been parking previously), so we were very comfortable dining. We went there for brunch, two of us went boozy (the Celtic Cocktail was primo). I had the chicken and waffles, which was great. The other two loved their meals too. We also had amazing service from Dani (sp?). We had been there once before since things started opening up again and were very happy, and this just solidified our opinion. I have had two wonderful takeout meals from the Celtic Corner. In March my husband and I had the hangar steak and the meatloaf. Both were delicious. They were "plated" nicely in their containers and arrived warm. This week we had the cottage pie, the fish and chips (mashed subbed for the chips), macaroni and cheese for our son, and the grilled asparagus. Again, everything was great! Cottage pie was comfort food at its best and had great depth of flavor. Fish and mash was also well done but probably not the best for takeaway (containers are the enemy of crispy food). Macaroni and cheese was thick and creamy with smoky bacon. We also had the bread pudding and the Reese's cake, a bit much after all that food, but yummy nonetheless. Lastly, we had an issue with our Uber Eats order and the owner of the restaurant tried to make it right the best he could, including by delivering the order to us himself. Don't use Uber Eats, by the way. Order directly from this restaurant. The restaurant is convenient to my mother in Glen Rock and we will be going there again soon, hopefully to dine-in. read more

This place is brand new so I am going to cut it some slack with the negatives. But currently I would rank it more of 3 1/2 than a 4. First, I really love the atmosphere of the bar area. Cozy but not intense with comfy seating. The menu is currently limited for their soft opening but that is okay. The staff were super nice and very attentive! They made sure we had everything we wanted and checked on us often (but not too often! ;) ). Great service. I really loved their drink specials on Halloween. I had the Citron Fizz which was citron vodka and st. germain with club soda. It was absolutely delicious and refreshing! And for only 5 dollars it was a steal! My mom and I also had lemon drop shots which came either with a sugared rim or a sugared lemon (the 2 bartenders made it two different ways). The food was okay, I would say. I had the burger medium-rare. It came out pretty well done and dry, and the cheese on top wasn't melted. It also came with onion ring on top but it was so small it really didn't give the burger any flavor. I think the burger would be better if it were cooked properly and had melty cheese or maybe grilled onions instead? Also there was a bit too much bun. I also ordered the onion ringd which were pretty good but could have been crispier. My mom got the lamb shank shepard's pie and she really liked it. I don't eat lamb so unfortunately I cannot comment but she ate it all so it must have been good! Overall I would give this place another shot for sure. The drink specials make it a great place to hang out and the wings looked really good (I want to try them next time!) I think this place has a lot of potential! read more

We visited the first week open and had a drink at the bar but unfortunately no wifi ( lots of wifi channels but none working) but the atmosphere was inviting. We re-visited and still no wifi (a week later) and unfortuntely it took us 45 minutes to get an appetizer of wings which for two of us came with 2 celery sticks, no dip and warm wings. We arrived and sat at a booth by the bar and were having a conversation when all of a sudden the speakers were turned on and we could hardly hear ourselves speak. The speaker was located in our booth and we were overcome with the sports channel. Starting to wonder if this is where we want to revisit. Seems a bit unorganized! I was really hoping for this place to be excellent because downtown Hawthorne needs a good place. A lot of people have said that that the food has improved. I had the lamb shank shepherds pie one of the first days it was open. Went back recently and it was not nearly as good. There was way too much flour in the roux they used for the gravy and it was almost tasteless. The Caesar salad we had was pretty solid. My biggest gripe with this place is the lack of craft beer. Because it's an Irish pub it gives you the right to just ignore the flourishing craft beer scene in the immediate area? At this point not having a few rotating taps of incredible local beer is lazy .. or maybe even just dumb. Having a beer list that you can post to social media draws people in. I have hope for Celtic Corner, I do. The menu needs to be ironed out/spruced up a bit and they need to fix their beer selection. So I was really excited to check this place out ! Went for lunch today and I ordered the burger medium well , when it came out the bun was burnt and the burger was very dry. I told the waiter and said I'll get the BLT . They didn't charge for the burger which was nice of them . When I got the BLT it looked good , I took a bite and noticed that the tomato on it still had the sticker with the produce code still on the tomato. St this point I was quite annoyed and thought if they can't clean and take off a sticker what else are they not doing in the kitchen?? Mind you it really wasn't that busy either. Where to begin...my wife and I were hoping this place was going to be great spot for food and drinks in town. The menu they originally put out looked great - I was excited about chef Christine Nunn designing the menu. Unfortunately, the menu they ended up with is horrible. I'm convinced they don't actually have a chef and are just letting random staff take turns in the kitchen. Some of the worst food I've ever had. Bangers and mash=crummy breakfast sausage on salty mashed potatoes. Everything was dry dry dry. To top it off - our waitress made us feel guilty for asking for anything. Not sure if we'll be back. Service was good. We got there at 5:30, right before a 6:00 rush. The restaurant got packed but we made it right on time. Irish and domestic beers on tap with CLEAN TAP LINES (unlike other local bars in town). We ordered a few small plates- fried pickle Spears, french onion soup, buffalo wings and loaded fries. Everything was pretty tasty although we prefer crispier wings than what we got. I randomly found this place while I was driving my friend somewhere and decided to stop by and ordered the vegetable tacos because I was curious about the teriyaki sauce not thinking an Irish pub would make good tacos, but they are seriously the best I've ever had. I immediately fell in love and have driven 30 minutes to come back several times and brought knew people who then fell in love every single time. I haven't changed it up because I just only want the veggie tacos but all of my friends and boyfriend have gotten different things and loved them just as much. Got take out from here recently. I have eaten here before in person and it's always been a little pricey. However the last time the food was pretty good. This time I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and it was $14... I wouldn't have had an issue aside from the fact that this sandwich was literally a tiny chicken finger cut in half and passed as an actual meal. I took it out of the box and actually could not believe they served it to me this way.. literally a bread sandwich. Went there last night with friends. The atmosphere was that of a true Irish pub. The waitress was awesome. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. I ordered the Cream of Mushroom soup as an appetizer. While the taste was wonderful, there were very few pieces of fresh mushrooms. There were probably just a handful of pieces as it was mostly the broth. The Irish stew's description said that it had beef, carrots and peas over mashed potatoes. There was a more than generous amount of beef and it was excellent in taste and texture. It was so tender that you did not even need a knife. As for carrots, I found one tiny piece the size of the tip of my pinky. I do make my stew with large pieces of carrots and would've liked more. I honestly never found any peas but I would've been picking them out as I don't like them anyway. The Reese's chocolate cake was awesome as was my Key Lime pie. Would I return? Probably not and my friend said she would not return to eat but would come for the bar (she had been there for drinks so suggested it for us). read more

We were in the Celtic Corner on Monday, October 13,2019 and we ordered the Buttermilk chicken and smother steak and two salads. We also ordered drinks from the bar. The Buttermilk chicken was advertised to come w avocado, banana peppers and pickled onion. It came with none of that, but some pickles and tomatoes. Our waitress was great and tried to find the manager for us, but he left... by 8:00 PM. We were told we could see the bartender or chef if we wanted to chew someone out. That wasn't the point. It's too bad because we really liked coming here. This will be our last time. read more

Giving this place 2 stars because the bouncer at the front was nice but besides that our experience was terrible. We went on a Friday night to grab a drink, we wanted to sit at a table as the bar area was extremely crowded due to a band. There were tons of people so you could barely get to the bar to order a drink. We asked the hostess if we could sit at a table as it was nearly impossible to even make it to the bar as there was a crowd of older drunk women dancing in the main area. She refused to accommodate which was a shame as this was our first time visiting this establishment. Until this place can gain some customer service skills, I will NOT be spending money here.
