    Bowl of Chili
    Ron M.

A Saturday treasure hunting trip ending with lunch at the Celtic Corner in Hawthorne, NJ. We ordered a Bowl of Chili and Old Bay Butter Chicken Wings for our appetizers. The chili had great flavor with a medium spice, tomatoes, red beans, plenty of meat with chopped redonions and chees on top. The wings were crispy flavorful with a mild heat from the Old Bay. The crispy chicken sandwich with added bacon was enjoyable and the secret sauce was had great flavor - but that's a secret! The black bean burger was well balanced with a crisp crust to the burger, avocado, pickled red onion green and a chipotle aioli which gave it some heat. Good for small or large groups or families. The staff was excellent and welcoming. We would definitely go back.

PROS: Very nice Irish pub! the atmosphere is good, the place is clean, food is good, menu is plentiful, prices are reasonable. Waitress was a delight and the service was fast CONS: There is no parking lot and you have to rely on scarce street parking. OVERALL: Great place to come too, you will not be let down. Just be sure to find a spot near the place

Missed my train by minutes so pulled up to the bar at Celtic Corner. It's on the main strip in Hawthorne and looks festive from the outside. I ordered a happy hour margarita and had a lovely time chatting with the friendly bartender. So nice I ordered a second. Then had to run because the next train was close. Didn't try the food, but I'd go back.

3/15/24 We were actually on our way up to Shannon Rose when I thought I should check out other Irish Pubs/Restaurants and landed on Celtic Corner. Google maps show the large location, so we knew it wouldn't be a dive bar. I'm so glad we came and got to taste the food here. French Onion Soup was delicious! It's so good and flavorful. When I got my bowl, I thought they forgot the cheese, which wouldn't be an issue for me because I can't have cheese. I usually peel it off and give it to hubby, lol. He was sad there wasn't much cheese. But as I dug down, I saw more cheese, it seemed the bread flipped over, and all the cheese was underneath. LOL. Like they say, don't judge a book by its cover ;) We got the 6 piece Wings with the Hot Garlic Honey sauce. Tasty wings, just need more hot lol. It's so sticky! We both had to wash our hands after hehehe Guinness Beef Stew was so good! I wish I could eat beef, I would devour this! I took a piece of the carrots, and it was amazing! Bangers and Mash was ok, nothing like the Beef Stew. Sadly, I took a bite of the Beef Stew 1st, so the Bangers and Mash was kind of bland compared. Victoria was an awesome waitress. Very attentive and on point!

Came here for a work lunch with a colleague. It was just the bartender working so no one was by the entrance. We just figured we'd sit down. There was 2 other booths taken & a large holiday party on the side room. We both ordered winter ales and rumchata peppermint fire ball shots - delicious. For food, she got a tuna melt with truffle fries & I got the steak & arugula with a side salad. Steak was cooked medium but very chewy. Flavor was good though - the horseradish spread on it is great!

Great place for brunch on a Sunday! My friend and I decided to choose this place based on the convenience of the location. Parking wasn't the greatest. There was some street parking (super minimal) but there was also a parking lot dedicated for their customers a block down. The restaurant had a great vibe - perfect temperature, good music, clean with friendly staff. I'm curious to see what the nightlife would be like in this place. Waitress was super attentive. We did the bottomless mimosas for $20 each and she made sure to refill when needed and provided us with excellent service. Food was great!!!!!! I honestly did not expect it to be so good! Super fresh, fries were perfect, no complaints at all. Overall, I would definitely come back here again! Whether it's for brunch or dinner I will be sure to return soon. Great place! Check it out.

Here are 10 great spots with great eats in North Jersey Check out this article from NorthJersey.com: Looking for a dive bar? Here are 10 great spots with great eats in North Jersey " This family-owned joint in downtown Paterson is an unabashed Irish-inspired dive bar, popular for its shuffleboard, dart boards, live music, the party it puts on St. Patrick's Day and its down-to-earth, hearty grub. Crammed with old-time memorabilia -- sepia-toned photographs and police and firefighters plaques and keepsakes -- and home to a humongous fish tank, Duffy's is where the neighborhood goes for a hot lunch, a cold drink and a satisfying supper. " Awesome too is Duffy's well-loved ribeye cheesesteak, eight ounces of slow-cooked beef smothered in sautéed onions, mushrooms and melted cheese served on homemade garlic bread. If you're yearning for eats from the Emerald Isle, tuck into a hearty helping of Duffy's popular corned beef and cabbage or its beer-battered fish and chips. Enjoy the eats indoors -- or on the heated patio, which has its own bar and mounted TV sets. Every day, holidays too. In its 40-something years, Duffy's never closed its doors -- except when it was required to for COVID-19. We stopped in mid-week for a family dinner after work and even on a Wednesday the place was buzzing. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny, which makes for a cozy atmosphere but also means tables are very close together. If you can, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The menu is somewhat minimal, but the food overall was good. I eat gluten-free and noticed the options were a bit limited, which made ordering slightly challenging. I ended up going with the sea scallops. They were nicely cooked, but the portion was smaller than I expected--five small scallops with some vegetables. For the price, I do wish the portion had been a bit more generous. I have to admit I left still a little hungry. My dad ordered the short rib grilled cheese and really enjoyed it. That was probably the standout dish at our table. My sister ordered the honey bourbon chicken and said it was okay, but afterward she mentioned she probably should have gone with the short rib grilled cheese instead. One surprise of the night was live music on a Wednesday. I usually enjoy live music, but since we were hoping to catch up as a family it made conversation a little difficult. The music was fairly loud for such a small space. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. They also have a rewards program, which worked out nicely--my dad received a complimentary dessert for his birthday. I ordered the crème brûlée, which was a great way to end the meal. A couple practical tips: parking in Ridgewood can be tricky. The restaurant advertises valet parking, though we didn't use or see it during our visit. If you find street parking, make sure to feed the meter because the town is known for giving out tickets. In warmer months they do offer some outdoor sidewalk seating, though it looks fairly limited. It also appears they have a happy hour, though we didn't arrive in time to try it. Overall, I'd recommend checking out Steel Wheel Tavern--just be mindful of the timing of your visit, especially if you're hoping for a quieter dinner.

He was a big help in answering any question I had. Our party was roughly 25 people and we reserved the back room for the party. The back room was big enough for all of us to fit comfortably without it feeling cramped. We ordered the apps ahead of time and were told that they would be ready at 5:30. Sure enough, at 5:30 all of the apps came out and they were a big hit. Everything was fantastic. We got some large pizzas, nachos, mozzarella sticks, potstickers, and calamari. There was practically nothing left. The entree's were great and came without delay. I didn't hear a single complaint from any of the guests. I'd be remiss if I didn't talk about our waiter for the night, Alan. I don't think I've ever seen someone be so on top of things before. He handled the whole room essentially by himself and somehow it never seemed like there was a single hiccup the whole night. He was beyond excellent. He was such a good communicator and kept me in the loop with timelines and was overall very organized. He played a significant role in the night going as well as it did. My whole family, and most importantly my mom, had such a wonderful night. And I have Bob, Alan, and the rest of the staff to thank for that.

It barely had onions in it and it was a twist to the normal original French onion soup. I was quite disappointed. The kids pizza wasn't fully cooked on the bottom. The Mac and cheese had a weird taste to it. The slice steak had zero flavoring to it. Although it looks quite modest on the outside, this restaurant actually has THREE dining rooms inside. Yes, THREE! The main dining room contains the bar and classic tavern booth seats, while the 2nd and 3rd dining rooms have your typical tables with chairs. We were seated in the last dining room, which probably was the largest of them all. The menu was very typical of your neighborhood pub/tavern - simple appetizers, burgers/sandwiches, salads and entrees. As we always did, we had already done research ahead of time and knew what we were ordering even before we stepped in. For our kids, we ordered the Kids Mac & Cheese and Kids Burger Sliders with American cheese and French fries. Both came with a beverage and ice cream. My better half got the restaurant's self-proclaimed 'Famous' Sliced Steak Dinner with a Baked Potato and I ordered the Prime Rib Cheesesteak topped with cheddar, peppers, garlic aioli, and onions served with a side of fries. First, the Kids meals. The Kids Mac & Cheese was LEGIT. None of that Kraft stuff. This was real, authentic, fresh cooked on the stovetop Mac & Cheese. The Kids Burger Sliders were 3 oz each and were pretty big. I had a small piece of one and it was shockingly goooooood. They were expectedly well done, but still very good despite the fact that they were not medium. As for the 'Famous' Sliced Steak Dinner, the sliced pieces of steak were tender, juicy and flavorful. Don't think we've ever had a sliced steak meal quite like this one and it was verrrrrrry, verrrry good. As for my Prime Rib Cheesesteak, dare I say it was probably better than some Philly Cheesesteaks I've had in Philly??????? YES, I said it! The bread was pillowy super soft and the chopped up pieces of cheesesteak were delicious with the toppings. There isn't much happening in the downtown Glen Rock area, so it's not hard to proclaim The Glen Rock Inn as possibly the best restaurant in the area. However, with that said, the food was great, the amount of space inside of the restaurant was more than multiple restaurants combined and the service from every single employee we encountered was fantastic. Even if The Glen Rock Inn was located in a dining hotbed, like Ridgewood, it would still be close to the top of my list of places to dine at in these neck of the woods.
