We each started our dinner with a bowl of homemade soup, my wife had clam chowder, and I had the soup of the day which was beef barley. My wife ordered Shepherd's Pie. It's a huge portion loaded with ground beef, vegetables, topped with mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese and baked to a golden brown. She thoroughly enjoyed every bite. I ordered the Prime Rib Special. It was beautifully cooked to a medium rare perfection; it was super tender and melted in my mouth. I got mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies. It also came with a container of Au jus. We did not have any room to attempt to try any dessert, but we will definitely save room on our next visit. I highly recommend Blackjack Mulligans especially if you want good food with fantastic service, having a great experience and a phenomenal time. read more

I've had excellent services and great food here on a consistent weekly basis. Their vegetables are always cooked just right and fresh which is super important to me. I've had several different dishes here as well as my partner and we are always above satisfied. Keep in mind this is a tavern and there is a bar, and a section for dining as well as a back patio. I decided to head for lunch out, and a few people have told me really good things about this place and they weren't lying. The first thing that I noticed was that it was really nicely decorated for Halloween, so they automatically got points in my book. The second thing was it was spotless. The bar was so clean everything was gleaming and that's really important to me. My bartender was very pleasant and answer any questions that I had about the menu. They do have some really great small plates from 3 to 6, but I was there a little bit sooner, so I just got some Ahi tuna tacos, which were out of this world also, I have to say this is probably the first place ever that the house Chardonnay was not rancid. It actually was tasty and you can't beat it at five bucks a glass.. They had a lot of good vegetarian options on the menu, which shocked me because it is an Irish bar and you don't normally see that. Stopped for lunch at Blackjack Mulligans Irish Pub in Hawthorne, NJ. The husband/wife team and chef are owner operators. They were fun, personable and provided exceptional service. You can dine in the bar area or dinning room, both have TV's set up making this a great destination as a sports bar, group gatherings or family. We ordered the Garlic Shrimp appetizer, it was flavorful and balanced. The garlic butter lemon sauce was great for dipping the bread, fries and we took the remainder home to serve over pasta. The crispy chicken on the sandwich roll was hand breaded, had great taste and with the added crispy bacon was a great choice. The fries were very crispy and hot. I was going to order the cajun dusted fries(forgot), but the regular were very good. The cheese quesadilla with chicken was great with lots of meat, onions, peppers and gooey cheese, I would recommend the addition of guacamole/avocado in the future. The portions are large so we took home the leftovers to enjoy later. If you're in the neighborhood, this is a great place for lunch! read more

If you like your prime rib full of grizzle and tough meat this is the place for you. The food was always good there, but they must be using a different meat supplier. Stopped in after hearing that this is the place to go at the end of the night. It's just up the road in Hawthorne, so easy enough to get to. There is an inside bar that's dark, moody and had karaoke. Then there is a brighter outside bar that's closed in and has sports on big screens. Seemed like there was an age difference between the two spaces, also. Inside was an older more serious crowd, and outside was a young, more casual group. We sat outside and ordered a couple of beers and loaded fries. The bartender was attentive. I went to blackjack mulligans for Thursday night football with a few friends and I walked in an hour before and there was no seating at either bar and barely any tables available. I had to find someone to seat me and was going back and forth from the inside and outside area trying to find a spot for us. We finally got seated in the outside area which was pretty cool. The service was good until 30 minutes before the game started and it went down hill from there. Me and my friends ordered food and it came out really fast because it was before game time but if I wanted to order anything after that it was near to impossible. You had 1 waitress for 50 people and she did her best but couldn't keep up with the demand and she had no one helping her so it took about 10 minutes to get my next round of drinks. As the night was coming to an end we paid the bill and the waitress was sitting by the bar and I went to give her our bill and thanked her for her help as she was talking to other another coworker (busboy). After I walked away the busboy was making fun of my physical appearance to the waitress and a friend of there's and they were all laughing really loud and looking in my direction knowing they were talking about me because when I looked there way they all looked away. It ruined my night and I'm still feeling very bad about it. In an establishment like this or any no one should feel that uncomfortable or be treated that way even if the workers are tired and it's the end of the night. I would suggest going there if you want to get a couple drinks with some friends but there are plenty other places to go for a night out with friends. Blackjack's you need to do better, staff your establishment accordingly, and tell your employees to have some respect for the customers that are providing you business. read more

Place is very nice! Great for UFC fights. We were here for about 5 hours for the fight and we had a great experience. Matt (the manger) came to our table and was very polite and accommodating to what we wanted to watch. Matt explained to us when the fights would be on and how the volume would work. Matt knows how to manage! Andy was very attentive as we asked him to put the fight on early for the prelims. I got a gimlet and a shot while my boyfriend got a margarita. The drinks were very good. I was very satisfied. For food I got the sliders - they were delicious!!! My friends got penne vodka, quesadillas, and chicken tacos. Overall, we had a good experience after all the hassle of getting the fight on. Not sure why our waitress couldn't have the manager come over sooner to talk to us - she acted as if it was nearly impossible to speak with him. I guess the waitress misunderstood me because I got prime rib. No big deal I thought. Well the prime rib was well done and tough so I didn't eat it. when I told the waitress she said sorry, I'll tell the chef. Period. There was no reimbursement offered. I love BJs This restaurant is a cozy Irish pub that has a ton of great food options that fits everyone's wants and needs. I came here with 4 people and we were seated immediately. The server was kind and helpful with whatever requests/questions we had. They were really accommodating with food allergies as well. Service was an average pace which is nice for good chats with friends. The food itself was amazing, i personally got a quesadilla with chicken and buffalo chicken sliders(as pictured below). I past by this spot all the time and finally paid a visit on a Thursday night. Street parking, plenty of parking near the railroads. There was no wait and was seated once I entered in. It has a nice bar/restaurant vibe, not too dark and the music wasn't too loud. I ended up getting the Blackjack Burger ($14), medium. The burger was huge and cooked perfectly. The combination of the mashed potato cheese and bacon with the burger was so tasty. I will say that it gets messy... the mashed potato fell off the burger with one bite. I have seen pictures on Yelp where ppl get mashed potato on the side, I may do that. The fries are the bomb, crispy and battered. Service was great and the HONEY MUSTARD ($0.50 extra) is a must and worth the small price. I will be coming back for sure. read more

The house wine is $5 per glass - and it's rough, but effective. My husband tried to order 2 draft beers, both kegs were kicked and he had to settle for a Yuengling. We ordered the pretzel bites and the Blackjack Irish Spring Rolls. The pretzels were ok, but the cheese sauce was boring. The Irish Spring Rolls were bland and the mustard was too vinegary. Go to Shannon Rose if you want amazing Irish egg rolls. The bar pie is a crime to NJ. It's super doughy. The cheese is rubbery and the sauce is blah. Second time here, but first review. The food is good. I've tried the pierogies (excellent), French onion soup (yummy and satisfying), and the fish and chips (crunchy and tasty, but way too greasy and noticeably stingy on the fries). The iced tea has an odd aftertaste. The service was very friendly but more focused on the bar, so they weren't as available as they could have been. My problem with the place was that the cutlery and glass looked and felt extremely dirty, and they replaced my first setting of utensils with a second set that was even dirtier! Gross. read more

I don't know what I was expecting but I was happily surprised. Parking is a bit annoying for Black Jack Mulligans, but on a Saturday night there was plenty of seating in the outdoor tent. It was heated and comfortable despite the chill in the air. We ended up sitting at the bar and ordered beers and calamari to start. It's rare I find a sour beer on tap and they had a great choice here (Bolero Snort). The calamari tasted really fresh and not chewy. We got two dipping sauces, marinara and a spicey Thai chili. For dinner my husband had the tuna tacos and I had the roast beef dip. The fries were super crispy and the dip had plenty of flavor. My husband loved his tacos which came with a horse radish aioli. We ended dinner with a home made rice pudding with caramel sauce and cinnamon. You could tell it's home made and was so delicious. I would definitely come back for this delicious bar food! read more

Went there on a Tuesday night and to get some food with friends and ended up staying there till the place closed. Service was great, our waitress was extremely cool and friendly. The food was good but not great, after we eat we played darts. This was the first place that I played darts in since Covid and the spacing was good the later it got the more space we had as more people were leaving. I'm so ecstatic that Blackjack Mulligans chose to open a location here in Hawthorne! When I first heard that they were opening here I was immediately told of how incredible their food and drinks & specials were at their other two locations. So to say that my expectations were high was an understatement, but Blackjacks has surpassed those expectations and blown me away with how good all the food has been. Ample selection of beer on tap, cans & bottles and all the normal mixed drinks you could desire. Ok to the food. My wife and I had the pretzel bites and garlic shrimp for starters. Both very very good, but the pretzel bites are a 10/10 MUST TRY. Then had the Blackjack Burger (bacon bbq cheeseburger with mashed potatoes) which I definitely had to try based off the name and the oddity of the mashed potatoes on it. I'd give the burger a very good 8/10 and a 9/10 on onion rings. My wife has had the Marc O Tacos (named after the owner) and she loves them. She has since gotten them another time. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and definitely added to great time there. We especially loved be helped by Kerri. She went out of her way to help us in any way she could! All this to say we've been back 3 times since this first trip bringing our friends and everyone has thoroughly loved every part of our time at Blackjack Mulligans.
