I'm so ecstatic that Blackjack Mulligans chose to open a location here in Hawthorne! When I first heard that they were opening here I was immediately told of how incredible their food and drinks & specials were at their other two locations. So to say that my expectations were high was an understatement, but Blackjacks has surpassed those expectations and blown me away with how good all the food has been. Ample selection of beer on tap, cans & bottles and all the normal mixed drinks you could desire. Ok to the food. My wife and I had the pretzel bites and garlic shrimp for starters. Both very very good, but the pretzel bites are a 10/10 MUST TRY. Then had the Blackjack Burger (bacon bbq cheeseburger with mashed potatoes) which I definitely had to try based off the name and the oddity of the mashed potatoes on it. I'd give the burger a very good 8/10 and a 9/10 on onion rings. My wife has had the Marc O Tacos (named after the owner) and she loves them. She has since gotten them another time. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and definitely added to great time there. We especially loved be helped by Kerri. She went out of her way to help us in any way she could! All this to say we've been back 3 times since this first trip bringing our friends and everyone has thoroughly loved every part of our time at Blackjack Mulligans. Second time here, but first review. The food is good. I've tried the pierogies (excellent), French onion soup (yummy and satisfying), and the fish and chips (crunchy and tasty, but way too greasy and noticeably stingy on the fries). The iced tea has an odd aftertaste. The service was very friendly but more focused on the bar, so they weren't as available as they could have been. My problem with the place was that the cutlery and glass looked and felt extremely dirty, and they replaced my first setting of utensils with a second set that was even dirtier! Gross. read more

I usually like to do 2 visits before reviewing but we won't be going back because they add a credit card charge and that is now a reason we do not go back. It will always cost a restaurant one half star when I review. So this really goes from a 3.5 start review to a 3 star review. Now to the review, went on a Saturday night and were able to sit right down. Ordered our drinks and they came quickly. Then ordered our appetizer the Irish nachos which were actually very good. Shepherds Pie meat with mozzarella and cheddar over home made chips cheese was melted well and the chips were not soggy and a good amount of Jalapeños. Sorry the picture is not the greatest. While we were waiting for our appetizer we ordered our dinner. The blackjack dip and the big blue burger. Our appetizer arrived and we started eating and then within 5 minutes our dinner showed up. There was no room on our table for all the plates. The two meals were both good. The burger was ordered medium rare and that is how it came. The roast beef was very good and the dipping sauce wasn't overly salty. All in all dinner was ok. The burger was actually better than many but the service not overly great. Overall would have probably considered another visit, but the credit card charge will lead us to try some other places before going back. read more

We visited for the first time last week and we're not disappointed. We shared the chipotle wings and wished I had hogged them to myself - they were awesome! Meaty wings, cooked perfectly keeping them tender and moist inside and the sauce was out of this world. I would have bathed in it if it was socially acceptable to do that on a public bar. We both had burgers - wife had the Jersey burger and I had the Burger with pepper jack, sauce and onions and they were amazing! They use a blend of meats for the burgers (I think with short rib) and they are moist and juicy and cooked exactly to temp (rare of course for me) and I'm not sure what they do with the fries but the are dynamite. Disappointing experience. Went around 5:30 & seated in the tent...didn't see a server for 15 minutes. Asked for one beer... keg was kicked. Asked for another beer...staff disappeared for 15 minutes only to tell me the beer was warm. I don't have a problem being told certain beers aren't available, but I DO have a problem waiting 30 minutes to get my drink. Steak sandwich left a lot to be desired - very fatty steak that was overcooked (fries were pretty good). I was looking forward to helping a restaurant in my town, but I don't think I'll be making a return visit in the near future. read more

Recently discovered this restaurant and has become a family favorite. To be honest, it is a restaurant you could walk past easily and not really notice - or even think automatically you would get a great meal here. It has a sports pub vibe with lots of large tv screens - and we have gone for lunches only and the TVs are quiet and you can have a regular conversation. Excellent food - with generous portions & presented well too - and the wait staff are friendly & helpful. We have enjoyed: * appetizers of delicious calamari. The nachos are good too but best with large group as there is a large plate. * Mains - we recommend the excellent fish and chips, black bean burger. (and requested lettuce wrap), shepherd's pie & ahi tuna tacos. The chef seasons the food well and food is presented nicely too. Look forward to eating here again soon! read more

Food was very good!! And the burger was done just right! The cook plates his dishes pretty nicely for a sports bar. (You know they care when care when a side of mash looks pretty) My only complaint might be the pickle chips. They were edible but just a tad bit too greasy. Anyway I would def come here again. I, for one, find it insulting that they add a percentage on. If you use your credit card comma raise, the damn price is two percent. This is said by one who was in finance for thirty year. My biggest problem with this place is sitting at the bar and listening to people cursing swear in front of families, and absolutely nothing is said or done about it if it was me. Love this place! Being able to seat at the tall tables by the bar, gives you a feel that you're still part of the action. Food is great, including the pizza. BJM is everything I look for in a bar & grill. Although it is a smaller venue, the outdoor seating options are awesome and a good spot to hang late night while allowing patrons to enjoy their meals inside without the banter. Food is awesome, specifically the wings and burgers. I am hesitant to call the smaller bar & grills overpriced due to the costs they've endured throughout the pandemic and cost of living increase over the last 2+ years, but it is not the cheapest night out either. Food is excellent; however, I am not sure if it is every Sunday, but I went earlier today around 1:30 with my girlfriend and her dad. The brunch staff doesn't seem to have an ear for music or set the "scene." I tried to play a few songs, which came, however since they can control the jukebox, I feel like they could pick songs for free, and they move their song of choice up to the top. It was mainly floor openers which don't make sense during brunch hours. They need to look at the whole crowd and let them choose what songs they want to play. It seems that all the brunch staff wants to do is play club/lounge type music. If thats the case they should work in the evenings or find another place to work. read more

I visited Blackjack Mulligan's of Hawthorne three times on Saturdays and dined in the outdoor tables in the parking lot during the pandemic. The staff was very friendly all three times. I enjoyed the Maryland Style Crab Cake Sandwich, Linguini with Shrimp in Cajun Cream Sauce and Clark Street Burger while listening to 80's tunes. I chose the open air table over that of one in the tent area with television. The Crab Cake was great but also the whole meal was kind of small. The burger was large and filling and placed in the category of fine. The linguini was amazing. I could had used bread to soak up the Cajun sauce which would had been ideal. read more

The Food is really good, from there Tacos to wings to steak sandwiches they have a lot and I've liked everything I've tried there yet! The staff is pretty good and is usually a busy place. The enclosed outside area is the right place to hang with the big TV's to watch the games! read more

I had the opportunity to go to Blackjack Mulligans with my wife for lunch after doing some Christmas shopping. We both wanted a burger. I opted for the sliders while my wife the traditional burger. Both were cooked perfectly and they were juicy. I also had the French onion soup which was very good. The waitress we had was awesome kept drinks refilled and kept checking in. Tables were spread out so everyone was properly social distanced. They had hand sanitizer set up when you walked in. Looking forward to going back and trying other things on the menu. read more

This place just opened month or so ago. I've been there twice and just love it. The staff was so nice and food is amazing. Lots of choices but not overwhelming at all. Drinks done well too! Lots of covered outdoor seating so weather won't be an issue. I hope when indoor seating is available they keep the outdoor seating as well. read more

The first time we went it was great but this time it was HORRIBLE. Put a take out order in at 6:30 and was told to come in about an hour to come get it. We arrived at 7:20. Was told it would be ready in about 5 minutes and ended up waiting until about 8:30. Over two hours of waiting for a take out order. They never even gave us an update of how long it was going to take after the 5 minutes, and let us wait inside standing. I understand this is a new establishment and very busy but this is unacceptable. They didn't even write down the name on the order even though they were told and we had to explain what we got multiple times. Extremely rude about it too. Half of the food we got wasn't even good. Steak sandwich had pickles in the box and all of the food tasted like pickles unfortunately. Soup was basically salt water. read more

Came here to watch the first final 4 game at 6 - and even though there were several tables in the bar area open, we were turned away for a private party - in the bar area? They werent seating anyone there after 530 - so when those tables could have been turned in an hour the manager decided to leave them empty -probably saving them for his buddies - causing the wait staff to lose all those tips - so we went to Bradys in Ramsey which was unbelievable - they made a big effort to get us seated the service was awesome and the food was great - go to Bradys!!! read more
