This was my first time to Charlie's Place. We sat right by the door so were freezing the entire night but still had a nice time. I got the Charlie burger and we shared the salmon taco small plate. The food was really good! I would want to try this spot again and try some other things. I forgot to take a picture of my drinks but I loved the spiced pear mule.

My friend and I went to Charlie's Place for a cozy dinner. We were seated right by the door and practically froze through our meal despite asking to be moved (we also had a reservation). The food is always good, my friend's drinks were good, and the server was kind.

I made the unfortunate mistake of waiting until the last minute to book a Valentine's Day reservation, and Charlie's Place was one of the few spots with availability for their prix fixe menu. In hindsight, I wish I had kept looking. We started with two cocktails, which were just okay--not terrible, but nothing memorable. For appetizers, we ordered a Caesar salad and the Korean BBQ ribs, both of which were underwhelming. Not inedible, just not good, so we only ate about half. The second course to share was pecorino truffle fries, which, surprisingly, ended up being the best thing we ate all night. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. For our entrées, my fiancée ordered the wagyu bolognese, and I opted for the filet mignon with a $10 upcharge. I asked for my filet medium, but it arrived somewhere between medium-well and well-done. The waiter noticed I wasn't thrilled and kindly offered to replace it. The second attempt? More well-done. The third attempt--the chef's final try--was laughably bad. The waiter even crossed his fingers as we checked it, only for us to find yet another overcooked steak, this time with the texture of a leather shoe. He was genuinely shocked. Meanwhile, my fiancée's bolognese tasted like pure lemon--no other flavors, just an overwhelming citrus tang. The server was confused, saying there shouldn't be lemon in the dish, but after checking with the kitchen, he confirmed that the ricotta had lemon. Whatever the case, it was completely inedible--like one of those sour candy challenges. At this point, I asked for the manager, who, to his credit, was extremely apologetic and immediately comped our entire meal. He also offered to do something else for us, but at that point, I had no appetite left. I just asked for dessert, which ended up being a hazelnut cake that was decent, though by then, I was more than ready to leave. Charlie's Place has potential--it's a nice space, and the service was actually solid. The staff even brought us complimentary champagne, which was a nice touch. But the food? Just bad. That's the only reason this is a two-star review instead of one. I'd love to give them another shot in the future, but they have some serious issues to fix first.

I We were greeted warmly and seated right away, even without a reservation. The ambiance was really nice and inviting. As for the food--overall it was okay. The burger was absolutely delicious, definitely the highlight of the meal! The Caesar salad, on the other hand, was just okay--there wasn't quite enough dressing for my taste. I'd definitely give this place another try.

We had drinks an apps at the bar and loved the ambiance, food and the delicious cocktails. The brunch looked really good there too. We'll definitely have to revisit.

My husband and I decided to stop in with no reservation Friday evening, round 6pm. It was oretty buzy, but we were able to grab 2 seats at the bar. There are a lot of people behind the bar, so we were served quickly. The drinks are delicious and they have a great variety of cocktails on the menu. The food came out in a timely manner and everything was delicious. The portions are great and the price. I only saw the bar and the bathrooms on this trip. I was told they have a large dining room in the back. The bathrooms are gender neutral and very clean. The bar area has a ton of tvs and seems like the perfect, albiet very classy, place to watch a sports game.

We came here for lunch on a Friday and had a great experience! The staff is very engaging and attentive. The drinks were creative and delicious and the food we got was phenomenal! I highly recommend the calamari and truffle fries. The fries have both truffle oil and shaved black truffle on top. A great value for an expensive ingredient. We also had the soy glazed wings and ribs which were both excellent. Sorry the photo of the calamari is half eaten

To David H.: I was…read morethere that night too, and honestly this review sounds more like someone who didn't understand what was going on than an accurate description of the place. It was St. Patrick's Day and the start of March Madness, the bar was completely packed, exactly like anyone with basic common sense would expect. The staff was clearly working hard to keep up with the crowd, and my Guinness was poured perfectly fine. If someone thought they were going to get slow, ceremonial pours and unlimited bar time on one of the busiest nights of the year, that's just unrealistic. As for getting cut off, bars don't do that for no reason, especially on a night when they want to keep serving. When a place is at capacity, the staff has to make judgment calls to keep things under control and stay within the law. Acting like bartenders should let people stay forever just because it's St. Patrick's Day sounds like someone who hasn't actually worked a high-volume bar in a long time, if ever. Calling the place overpriced with bad food doesn't make much sense either, considering it was packed all night and people were clearly enjoying themselves. It's easy to blame the bar when you don't get the experience you wanted, but from what I saw, the staff handled a crazy night the best they could, and the complaints here sound way more like user error than anything wrong with the place.

W's was a large restaurant and sports bar with ample parking. The place was packed because of the March Madness basketball games, so the front bar was bustling, but, thankfully, we were able to get a large, cozy booth in that section. We just ordered Aperol Spritzes, which were tasty and perfectly balanced. The service was also very friendly. While the food menu was mainly greasy bar food, they had a few items (grilled chicken, salads, soups, etc.) that I would have ordered if I had been hungry. Overall, the W's Village Grille seemed like a great place to catch a game or even for a family dinner in the back dining room, but it was not really the trendy girls' night spot for which we had originally planned.

However the last two visits ( we go on Sundays and in the summer we love to sit outside there) were just not good and it hurts me to say it. A few weeks ago we went and I didn't really see anybody that we knew there's usually the same woman at the door every time we go and we always have a brief pleasant conversation with her. We didn't see her when we went in, but no big deal we were led to our booth. We don't even need menus anymore because we always get the same thing and it's always delicious. We always start with a salad and then we get the muscles medium and a large pie with half black olives. We waited about 10 minutes. We still hadn't been given water or even acknowledged at our booth. We just kind of waited patiently because we did see that it was busy but after 15 minutes past, we were kind of like what is going on a young woman came over she looked overwhelmed. She was helping most of the tables asked us what we wanted to drink and we said to her you know what can we just do everything now because we can see that you're busy. We gave our order and then we sat another 15 minutes just waiting for our drinks to arrive. Our salad finally came out and then our mussels . The muscles must've been made and sitting in the back for a while because for the first time ever we did not like them they were rubbery and cold. We ate them anyway cause we don't like to make a big deal then we waited for our pizza. And waited and waited and waited. No one was even looking over at us. No one came over to ask if we needed more drinks. It was like we didn't exist, which was very upsetting because my boyfriend is a person that tips 30% every time anywhere we go. Finally, the person that was running the front saw that we were getting very aggravated and came over and at this point, we were just disgusted and wanted to leave as my boyfriend's mom is ill and we can't spend three hours sitting at a local bar restaurant. We told the woman that we didn't even want them at this point and if we could just get them to go. Because we had ordered a second pizza to take to my boyfriend's mom. She did do the right thing and took the pizzas off the bill and we appreciated that and we chalked it up to just being a one off day, no big deal in comparison to all the great times we've had there. So we ended up not going back for a few minutes weeks and we finally went back yesterday. It was extremely busy so we knew we would be there a little while I want to say that our waiter Tyler was great. We have no complaints about him. He was friendly and he got our order correct. But it was the same thing where we sat there for about 10 minutes before anyone even came over with a glass of water. We then instructed how we wanted the food brought out first the salad then the mussels and lastly the pizza he repeated it back to us and we knew he had gotten it and like I said we have no complaints about Tyler. But then, of course the salad and mussels came out at the same time. We kind of just said to each other no big deal. We'll eat the salad fast and eat the mussels while they're still warm as we literally took the first bite of our salad our pizza came out. He told us that the back kitchen had just put everything in at once. I'm not really sure what's going on here why they can't get it together, but we ended up eating our food so fast because we didn't want anything to get cold. That's not an enjoyable way to go out to dinner. I really hope it can go back to being the way it was because it used to be phenomenal. I think we will be taking another little break until the weather gets nice and we can sit outside and hopefully the service will go back to the way it was as I stated Tyler was great. I really believe it was not his fault that it all came out at once. This is truly a local place that has been here for so many years and it's just kind of sad to see that it's almost like they don't care that they take for granted that they will always be busy, but that's not how the way the world works. Things are so expensive in today's world and going out to dinner should be a pleasure not a stressful event. It's a great place in general and I definitely do not want to bash it. That's not the point of this post this post is to let them know that they're good customers. Just want to be treated the way they have been since 1989.
