    Double smash burger
    Victoria C.

Great lunch at Allendale bar and grill. Everything was delicious, the double smash burger had cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion, it was so juicy. The monkfish sandwich had lettuce, tomato and remoulade, fried to perfection. The Godfather as always was so good and sweet potato fries were so crispy and delicious. Our first time there but we often go to their sister restaurant Mahwah bar and grill. Both are equally delicious.

    So good we came back!!

We were in town for multiple days & chose to come here several times to dine in and take out. We had been to their sister restaurant in mahwah a couple of times and found to be very good. Allendale Bar & Grill did not disappoint. My pictures are from 2 visits back to back nights. Fun atmosphere, outdoor dining, good food & good service. Very accommodating to dietary needs.

Interesting....we come here infrequently enough that will now be scarcely. We waited at our table for 20 minutes for the waitress to come over then another 20 for our drinks. The place wasn't packed and the crowd should be something she is used to. She walked right by our table several times and didn't even stop to see how we were doing or if we needed anything. I also noticed two children under 10 sitting at the bar and also two kids that looked like they were 12 as bus boys. We ordered our food which was typical bar food it wasn't anything that blew my mind away and got a pizza to go. The 12-year-old brought us the pizza and it's not his fault he's still young but someone in the back could have put parchment paper underneath the pizza so that it didn't stick to the cardboard. The pizza came and was all mushed together. We had already paid so obviously no one's going to come to our table so we just walked out and will never go back. I am honestly scared to eat the pizza because I don't know what particles from the cardboard melted onto the pizza.

Had lunch again at ABG! Kristen was our amazing server and took great care of us. I have eaten here for years but never tried the chicken salad but saw someone at the table next to me get it. It was excellent! Also got a cup of the lentil and Bavarian wurst soup which was great! I always love how I can find a German Food item on the menu most weeks. Husband loved the smash burger special and the kids loved their pasta (and popcorn).

I really so loved this place. And like, what didn't I like about it?!…read more So first, the ambiance: SUPER cute and charming, like something out of a Christmas movie, even if it's not holiday time. It's part of the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn, so like, that colonial stone look, like what you see a lot of in Princeton, NJ. Super cute and quaint. And while it IS "small" it's actually not entirely? There was a family dinner seated and there was like 8? maybe? of them. I sat at the bar, so that was okay. It is not a place for large parties, so do keep that in mind. But really, the charm of it is to be with just a few people. Food: just ordered a salad. But it was delicious! Great mix of ingredients and all really fresh. Impressive wine list! Service: sweet as pie, the staff! Very hospitable and warm, you just feel so welcome there, plus it's so cozy and pretty... all makes for a sweet, perfect little night! This place is way too cute

The structure is believed to have been built in the 1790s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the Ho-Ho-Kus (an abbreviation of a tribal term for "red cedar") Inn & Tavern builds on its rich history, focusing on making it more casual. Modern infrastructure and amenities were interwoven through the establishment to comply with historical regulations. My partner, our friends, and I decided to have dinner last night as first-timers. Reservation was easily made via OpenTable for 5. Upon entering this spot for local and farm-fresh dining, we were greeted by the staff at the host station inside a cozy, multiple-story dining setup to host semi-private dining experiences in a multitude of quaint rooms and two bars. Our table was ready by the window at the Hermitage Room. The menu focused on simple, seasonal, and modern American cuisine. From starters, we decided on the Fiddlehead Salad, Calamari, Dozen Blue Point Oysters, and Tuna Tartare. As a main meal, we opted for Veal Cheesesteak Sandwich, Pan-Seared Black Bass, Diver Sea Scallops, Zabriskie Burger, and Crispy Long Island Duck Breast. Complimentary rolls with whipped butter started our meal. All dishes were prepared with fresh ingredients, care, and attention to detail. Each plate had its unique taste and was delicious. There was a small hiccup with one of the dishes ordered, and our server, Sebastian, fixed it. The staff was attentive, friendly, and accommodating. The price was comparable to the area. Each dining room had its own personality, and we enjoyed our dinner experience here, which we can recommend.

I won't be heading back to Peppercorn's anytime soon, GUARANTEED!…read more My wife and I came in and were warmly greeted by the bartender and our drink order was taken promptly and made perfectly...but that's unfortunately where the compliments end for both the restaurant and the bartender. We ordered Nachos for an appetizer and they came out cold. Cheese on the bottom was melted, whatever crap they put on top was ice cold and not melted. Not sure if this is the way they make them ordinarily, but I've never eaten nachos with cheese that was not melted ... we sent it back to be reheated and got a face from the bartender about it... didn't bode well in her favor but more to come on her shortly. Next both of us got The Godfather sandwich with added chopped bacon... it came out undercooked in some parts of the meat hut after the face for sending back the nachos, I sucked it up and just ate the edible parts... in addition to this though, they don't serve it closed. It is not an open faced sandwich, but served open-faced...not terrible, but just weird to me. Probably to prevent room on the plate for more fries to be added. So now the meal has ended, we ask for the check and notice a couple of unusual charges... I had 2 Belvedere and 7up w a lime and my wife had two Spicy Margaritas. We were each charged $25.00 for our 2 drinks...no issues...where it gets nutty is the additional separate charges listed vaguely at $7 and $4. Now the complaint isn't about cost per se, but rather the sneakiness and seemingly dishonest approach by the bartender that was unnecessary. My wife questioned the charges and we were told some nonsense about having to up charge because it was a larger glass for a margarita and it doesn'tcome in a smaller glass...WTF? First off, she didn't ask for a larger glass. Next, why isn't there just a charge for a margarita at one price? If you only serve it in one size, why do you need an up charge on a taller glass? That was the explanation for the 7.00 charge, 3.50 for each drink she had. The 4.00 charge I couldnt even make sense out of ... she explained that it was because margarita's have more than 1 liquor so she had to add an additional liquor fee. What in the holy hell is going on with the pricing for this drink???? So now as far as I can understand we have a $12.50 FLAT fee for a margarita according to its initial charge on the check. Then 3.50 extra for each drink because it is served ONLY in a pint glass... and a $2.00 per drink for extra liquor because more than 1 type of alcohol was put in the Margarita... so now a $12.50 Margarita on the menu becomes an 18 dollar upsell when no one asked for anything larger or additional, other than the way it should be poured according to the drink menu... it was sneaky, underhanded and it made us feel like we were targeted as unsuspecting patrons who wouldn't be back again and the upcharge didn't matter. Well she was right and wrong... wrong that it doesn't matter and was not wrong to do, but she was right that we won't be back again

His at least five minutes before mine. mine had ingredients in it, including mushrooms, which I am to, despite the fact that it had never been in this recipe before, was it listed on the menu. When I inquired about it on the menu, she said that it was, despite the fact that on the above, I could see it was not. They offered to remake it for me, but not take it off of our bill. They blamed it on the corporate office. We tried to order dessert as it was my birthday and only mine came out. Not my husband's. I'm incredibly disappointed. We will never go back. They've lost long-time customers.
