Because this is one of the greatest restaurants in this state, as their customer service is amazing and all of the waiters are so nice to you, oh and did I mention the food there is so delicious and is full of delicious food I thought I would never like, but when I try it, it tastes amazing. GomShabuShabu was my go-to place for a good ol'shabu shabu meal on cold or rainy days ... but a new shabu place opened up in Chantilly!! Decided to give it a go I was mad impressed with the PLETHORA of ingredients to fill your shabu shabu pot of goodness. They have these legit LARGE scallops that are included in the buffet menu .. unlike those other places that give you the tiny lil scallops (if at all) that literally mush away in your mouth TT Overall the food, sauce bar, environment was great. The only thing I FELT like they can improve on WAS their service ... I ate here two times since it opened. First time, the service was really slow water not re-filled, second order of food took over 30 mins to come out, etc etc .... but in my more recent experience there, our server, Alex, provided the best service I could ask for ! Seriously haha. I briefly informed him of my first experience and about the wait time, and he made it his agenda to make our experience great this time! Water, napkins, food, never ran out and he was smiling the whole time, even though it was busy. Apparently he was the assistant manager haha. This place is ok but it's not for novice hot potters :) u see what I did there? Ambience is ok. It's well lit but they had run out of the individual burner tables when we got there so we had to share. I found the soup options OK. Wish there was more variety and/or something more mild. Also didn't love the veggie options, even though there were lots to choose from. Our burner wasn't turned on properly so we sat there waiting forever for the soup to heat up - wondering if we can / should fiddle with the temp ourselves. Service was just ok. We needed help but couldn't communicate with the Spanish speaking folks who bring out the raw food - only the waitress speaks English. Never thought I would like soup but this is not just soup. It's an all you can eat do it yourself kind of thing. I went yesterday and we had individual pots and raw food came and we got to put it into the broth ourselves. I got the Tom Yum and it was AMAZING. The worst thing about Hot Spot was that the noise level included blaring music that was so loud that we could hardly communicate with the servers or enjoy dinner. The food was generally okay for Asian hot pots. Although it's all you can eat, it was so crowded that they rushed us out to clear the table (well before the allowed 2 hour maximum). This place never lets me down. I used to go to the smaller, Fairfax location, but I'll drive further for a brighter and more open space. Although the staff isn't waiting on you like most restaurants, since you do most of the cooking yourself, they're all super attentive. You never have to wait too long to order more food. In terms of quality, I'm not sure it is at the top of the list compared to others, such as little sheep in Falls Church. For instance, the shrimp was not very fresh and you could tell it was previously frozen. If you compare other items such as the fish tofu, it is also better at other places. They do not take reservations, but I had a party of 15 on a Saturday night and they let me make a reservation when I called a week ahead. The restaurant called the day of to confirm and we discussed seating. They even honored my request to have all individual pots. The service was amazing. They refilled our drink cups without asking, took their time to explain how it works to people who had never been. They were efficient in taking our orders the whole time. The kitchen was backed up and slow, but that was not the servers fault. The sauce bar was full and the ingredients were fresh. You are allowed 3 items from each category and 6 vegetables. Baby corn and enoki mushrooms were a hit. My favorite meats were fatty brisket, ribeye, marinated pork, and fish tofu. It is all you can eat, so try them all. Great place to eat. We love everything about it. We've been going there for a few years now. Weekends can get a little busy. The quality of food and customer service is great. If you're new to this place, Shabu-Shabu soup is mild and Tom Yum is spicy. Try all the meats and vegetables. Topping the soup is free. It has a larger central bar area than the original location and comes with a sauce bar that is twice the size of the Fairfax location, so lines go much quicker. You can still choose between family-style hot pot (large pot with a divider in the middle) and individual style. Induction burners are built into the table so you can control the temperature of your hot pot. The servers are friendly and food is amazing!!! Ahhh good ol' Hot Spot. So my boyfriend and I have been visiting the Fairfax location every few months and we are SUPER happy to have a Chantilly location. It's much more convenient for us and our friends to visit more often. Our first visit was for early dinner on a Wednesday. Pros: 1. Clean and brand new. The sauce station was kept clean the entire time we stayed, floors and tables kept clean. 2. Service was taken by two gentlemen who both made sure our orders were taken, drinks always filled, and picked up our dirty dishes promptly. Even the manager(I believe) stopped by and made sure everything was going smoothly and even chatted for a bit. 3. Meat/veggie quality was excellent and so were the sauces. Actually, the sauces were deliciously excellent. Literally added a little bit of every sauce to my bowl. Cons: 1. A little bit disorganized. I noticed that as people began to pile in the restaurant later in the evening, some of the food runners got confused when bringing out the broths for the tables and caused a confusion with the servers for a sec. 2. Food portion/timing. So we love meat. My boyfriend and I wrote on the order sheet the number size we wanted for a few of the meats. We even went up to a #3 because we just really wanted more meat. Each time, it seemed as though the meat portion was the same no matter what number we wrote next to the meat options. Also, the time it took for the meat/veggies to come out took a bit of time so we had to adjust to make sure the servers took our order form before we even finished eating our food.
