I was a little disappointed in my visit to Hook Burger. On my last visit, I ordered a Caprese chicken sandwich with fries. I definitely wouldn't make that selection,again. The ciabatta roll wasn't fresh and the arugula glaze had a weird taste. The sandwich was a soggy mess.Before taking a bite, I had a bad feeling about the sandwich . We came here for dinner on a Sunday. Wasn't too packed. You placed your order and they will give u a number and u find your own table. And the food will be brought out to u. It's not a restaurant where they come take your order. They have a soda/drink station where u can get your drink and refills. The service was friendly. It was Covid safe the tables were spaced out safely, there was also available seating outside. The food was delicious the sauce that the mushrooms come in was exquisite, I would highly recommend trying this burger if you are a mushroom fan. On the hickory burger the bacon was crispy and the patties were juicy. I picked my friend up from the Bob Hope Airport (which is now Hollywood Airport), and Yelped this place. My experience with Aungeliq was awesome! My reviews are basically 50% food and 50% service.. more like 80% service. If service is terrible, then I would not come back for the food. It is not worth the hassle! My experience with the other staff was disappointing. My friend ordered a side salad with balsamic sauce, and an orange soda. The balsamic sauce was chunky and thick.. which should not have been! My friend kindly went up to the staff near the kitchen (there were 4-5 people), and was completely ignored. One of the staff told her that "maybe they didn't stir it well enough" and just turned her back on my friend.. leaving her standing there confused. If the sauce isn't right, GIVE US A NEW ONE. You expect us to eat chunky sauce for salad? It was gross! She didn't even finish it. Another terrible experience.. I was waiting for one of the staff to notice me while I was at the counter so I could ask for a cup of water (halfway finishing my burger). The staff just stared at me and looked/ walked away. They weren't even doing anything productive! I had to go up to Aungeliq to ask for a cup of water WHILE she was busy.. and even then she stopped what she was doing and got it for me! Hook Burger, you need to hire friendlier staff who will go the extra mile. Service is everything. Hire more people like Aungeliq. We pay for our food, even if it's just the sauce.. fix it. After flying into Burbank airport, we were starved and really wanted burgers. Decided to come here as several of our friends had highly recommended it. First of all, as we walked in the young lady behind the counter wasn't very polite or welcoming. There were only two tables of people and it was pretty quiet. She kept mumbling so I kept asking her to repeat herself. Not everyone that comes here is a pro and isn't as familiar with the lingo. Then to teach me a lesson, she makes my husband repeat himself over and over as he tells her that he wants water. When I slowly told her that he wants water, she tells me that she couldn't understand his accent. Regardless of the crappy welcome, we chose to let it go because we were starving. A very sweet guy brought over the food. Unfortunately the food wasn't good at all. Unless it was an off day, it was so bad that McDonald's would have tasted better. I had the turkey burger which was super bland. No flavor at all. It was made with dark meat which it should have been better but not this time. My husband had the veggie burger and even he couldn't finish his burger. He usually gobbles veggie burgers but this one just wasn't good enough. My hubby did like the onion rings but the fries were bland and soft. We ate few bites of the burgers just to tie us over. It was the most disappointing meal in a very long time. Food: I took my sweet time in enjoying the Maui burger. It includes a grilled pineapple, melted jack, teriyaki glaze, green leaf, tomato, mayo. Super delicious! And I also got a salted caramel shake that definitely hit the spot. (5 stars) Service: Came in and was greeted by the staff. The cashier suggested some of their popular items. They did forget to make our shakes but no foul done. (4 stars) Environment: The establishment is located in the Burbank shopping center by the Airport. There is plenty of parking and nearby shops to walk off the incredible food. The inside had plenty of seating but due to Covid-19 we wanted to sit outside instead of every other seat inside. (4 stars) Price: The food did make up for the price. Could the price be reduced a tad bit. Yes they could! But that would be a steal. The Maui burger was about $9 bucks, fries not included. The shake was about $5 bucks, standard price compared to other spots. (4 stars) Overall Thoughts: The items were delicious, the environment was ok, service was good. Damn! I haven't been blown away by a burger place in ages but this place took me to Oz. I ordered the Hook Burger, rare. They cooked it RARE! I don't think I've had an actual rare burger since I was a kid. Most places that say they'll cook it rare only go medium-rare, if even. The onion rings are perfection, too. Not too salty. The burger wasn't, either. I mean, there's salt on the table at every restaurant. Why do most put so damned much of it on their food? They have just really good burgers. This time I tried the hook burger sub veggie patty and it was yummy! I love how their buns are ALWAYS soft on the outside and a light crisp on the inside. Their fries come in a cone of goodness, and their staff are ALWAYS polite. It's self seat after you order and they bring your food to your table.
